there were very few people that were in favor of us pursuing this endeavor you guys are one of the Cannabis operations to Aspire to in terms of cultivation prowess and just management style here with the outside sun and available daylight plants respond significantly there's almost no lag time this pheno is only located here at Earth cealing not many facilities actually have their own analytical lab I like to say in an indoor you get to play God and green house you got to play with [Music] [Music] God hey hey all you can criers out there this is Nate from growershouse.com and today we're in Arizona visiting one of the state's most successful operations which happens to be in Tucson many of you may not know this but Growers house and can of cribs started here and those not familiar with the area may not know it but over the last 10 years Tucson especially has become a little bit of a hot spot for cannabis culture and when you're down here in the desert you may notice it's a very magical and trippy Place full of art creative personalities and beautiful landscapes and why not enjoy it with just a little bit of week today's episode is chalk full of Amazing Stories and awesome people we meet the mother of ver healing Vicky pooi cedra her daughter who's poised to become the next CEO and her son an award-winning extract artist we also meet with mil Sadowski the director of cultivation who also introduces us to Dr Rex of the University of Arizona so stay around till the end of the episode I'm in a love love relationship with cannabis fell in love with it from the day I tried it and it just made me feel a lot better I suffer from anxiety and stomach health issues and it was everything I needed without the side effects of pharmaceutical pain pills or medicine I'm Vicki POI savedra and I am an owner and CEO of birs healing my name is Maggie sadra and I'm the chief culture [Music] officer so josea they brought me here to this propagation room which looks beautiful by the way I love just how clean it looks and I think before we get into the process of how you guys do everything in this room let's chat about like your background with cannabis did you start growing before you joined Earth healing so I've been in cannabis since about 2015 nice let's even chat about like how you even choose the genetics that are grown at Earth healing we have our chief cultivation officer who communicates with the owners and everyone above us as far as what the market is calling for and then once they make the decisions on what genetics to pass our way we figure out if they're practical for the system that we grow in the greenhouse got it I mean practical for the system let's talk about what is practical and what's not practical and what that means we run a very specific system you know it's a mixed light greenhouse system so it offers a extremely high UV index and it offers a lot of stresses that many indoor grows for instance wouldn't actually experience so if we get a genetic that's highly favorable towards an indoor grow it may not finish well or it may you know pop some some seeds or it may Herm out on us we have to run it a few times to make sure that it's actually going to work with our environment work with our feeding program and of course if it yields well right on well how many strains do you guys have in production right now with this facility we're always rotating roughly 18 to 20 18 to 20 gives us the ability to run 12 about very heavily things that we've already tested heavily and we know do well while also rotating some of the newer stuff some of the things that we know the market might want as well as some of the phenotypes from our R&D facility as well for those people who are not familiar can you like describe what phenotype phenotype is the physical expression of the actual string let's say they pop a bunch of seeds you're going to have a spectrum of different phenotypes being expressed within that batch of seeds the actual physical expression of the tri size the flavor of it another thing that you may want to add is the chemotype which would be the chemical analysis of that same plant and the genotype which would be the actual Cross of the actual strain name itself where it actually comes from familywise got it so you have 18 to 20 cultivars how many mothers do you have in your room to support all that we keep about 1,500 moms around in total in production while having another thousand plants that are smaller form to feed the regenerative mothers that come to take their place as they get retired and cold out for lack of vigor or becoming Too Tall or Olden age yeah I mean that's like a testament to how large you guys facility is not many places have 1,500 mothers that they're running yeah we squeeze them in tight um within our 8-day production cycle we're taking about 3200 to 4,000 Cuts every 8 days so in terms of lighting it looks like you guys are using LEDs what kind of wattage you guys looking for what kind of fixtures what kind of lighting levels we go for a nice wide spectrum we move to a company called the luminar the 18 watt they offer us that nice NK spectrum that we're looking for and the ability to daisy chain up to 100 of them makes it really nice for us to be able to just plug and play as we need them how do you guys know when to water I mean there's like hundreds of trays in here with so many mats and so many clones to manage at once we were able to simplify it to a system of just weights so we use the actual starting weight which is usually about 8 to 8 and 1/2 lbs we look for our 30% to 40% dryback based off of the weight that dries back and evaporates and then we actually water once it reaches that desired weight yeah okay that's super interesting I have not seen someone do that before so that's got to make it really easy for multiple people to come in manage watering in the propagation room so it seems like it's a pretty low labor process that you guys have here Hosea you managed clean operation man I appreciate the time hey appreciate you guys organ plug pre-filled trays get increased cloning success in gardens commercial Gardens often not a 5 to 10% increase in cloning success with the pre-filled trays along with a 1 to two day reduction in rooting time on top of that they're a huge labor saver propagation team skip the process of soaking plugs and then filling your trays with loose plugs believe us your team will thank you the proprietary cocoa Pete and biopolymer pre-inoculated blend that make up our organic plugs they buffer EC and pH better than the competition and feature an optimal air to water balance to give plants maximum cloning success they can be used as a rooting plug in all growing media types such as cocoa soil Pete and even rock wool want even faster rooting try the pre-filled tall plugs for even more vertical surface area and a larger root Zone to increase your water oxygen and overall resiliency of your Cuts you can purchase organic plug pre-filled trays in a single trays of 50 plugs cases of 5 to seven trays or entire pallets for maximum savings our pre-filled trades come with a money back guarantee fill out the form in the description below to get 20% off your initial order aside from our children that there were very few people that were in favor of us pursuing this endeavor first of all how could I possibly want to bring my children into such a taboo business I mean we're from the border I was born and raised in no Galis and my family is from caloa which is a a state that has a lot of Narco issues in Mexico and so it was not something that that my family was looking forward to they've changed their their attitudes towards cannabis and they've seen how helpful it is your family is extremely involved in this business it sounds like you've Dragged In everyone for all the way from your daughter to your son my daughter my son my sister your family friends even the dog Charlie how many people work for her healing about 215 right now mhm 215 wow and still [Music] growing so George just got out of propagation now we're in this bedroom and let's go over your title I'm the registration manager basically what that entails for me is following the plants throughout their stages of life making sure that they're going to get the maximum yield so let's talk about feeding these plants like when they're hitting this veg room how often are you feeding them and like what's the EC and let's chat about that a little bit for sure so we'll start with the EC we feed a 2.9 pretty much throughout the house that's kind of just what works in a commercial studing we don't really have the availability to kind of tailor to each individual strain like you can in some kind of batch tank system so from the first time they get brought in with a hydrated pot we literally will hydrate them for the first day maybe four or five times after that I only give them a half of a percent of a shot of bulk EC fluid is going in and I only do that three times just to force the roots to then search for where the water is because as I'm forcing the plants to dry out or that cocoa to dry out the roots are then looking for that water so that then helps us root in and help those plants really take off off once they get into that bottom third of the pot which is called the perch water table we can really kind of process and get that plant to start stretching and get the plant height we need to then go into flower got it and you know crop steering is becoming a very well-known term in commercial cannabis so first off let's even just talk about defined crop steering for sure so crop steering for me it's manipulating the environment around the plant to create a certain morphology in the plant time where we're inducing stress or really bringing that stress onto the plant is going to be in that first 3 to four weeks of flour just because at that point they're focusing on reproducing if we can stress them out at that time it's actually going to cause them to have more intern noal sights so that they have the better likelihood in their life to then be fruited and can carry on for the Next Generation so we'll we'll do that by limiting our EC and limiting our irrigation frequency so we basically take it up to a peak saturation and then we'll stop and that can be anywhere from 20 to 23 hours before we even come back in and hydrate doing this and limiting the runoff builds the EC and the plant it also gives it that drought stress that's even an even more of an indicator of hey I need more inner nodes I need more nodal sights got it so the first four weeks of flour induce stress last four weeks of flour reduce stress and make them as healthy and comfortable as possible so they increase Bud size and weight as much as possible exactly exactly this might stir up a little bit of conversation in the comments let me say this statement and tell me what your thoughts are input EC as in the concentration of nutrients you feed into your plants does not matter so I can definitely understand where that comes from so basically if you're feeding a low EC you're going to notice that you want to have a lot of time a lot of dryback in your substrate if you're feeding a higher EC you're going to want to have more runoff in your substrate in the lower EC you can have a lot less runoff and still get a good plant while if you have a higher EC you want more runoff to get that same quality of plant good info awesome [Music] brother okay guys so we're in the fertigation space let's talk nutrients and like how you guys actually push everything out into this greenhouse this is where it starts all the plants nutrition comes from a nutrient solution this giant awesome nutrient hot tub you see here is our nutrol and it's a a roll and critical part of that process well we also have alist here from neim and Nim actually makes this nutrol and a lot of the equipment U that comes after this for fertigation and what can you tell us about why someone wants the nutrient hot tub it's all about Labor savings and accuracy consistency if you got large quantities of concentrate nutrients that you want to make the key thing is to be able to dissolve that down thoroughly completely and the way to do that is gradually over time so nice thing about this machine is it's semi-automated you got a timer on the valve Bridge you can set that to whatever period of time you need you can dump in an entire bag of nutrients put in the right amount of water it dissolves in through the basket right here and then the Jets the inductors inside the tank jeted around like a big hot tub once you're done send it to the totes that's it the labor savings is massive labor is your your number one cost and anytime I can take somebody away from stirring that's more time being spend with the crop the size of this facility I think this thing was probably paid off within a quarter wow it's important that we're able to refine processes and if you don't have a a consistent starting point you don't have a control cool the nutrient Hot Tub Time Machine the nutrol the nutrient hot tub save time machine there you go nutrient Hot Tub Time saving machine say that 10 times fast well then I think it's on to the next boys our canic cribs team tour some of the best cannabis cultivation facilities in the world learning the best products techniques and methodologies did you also know that we help design and build the most productive commercial cannabis facilities if you need help building retrofitting or optimizing your operation fill out the form in the description below to work with the worldclass professionals and scientists at canic cribs Consulting bringing you the best practices of the most renowned [Music] Farms there there's a right way and a wrong way to put on a tyac suit first the wrong way first you're going to see there's a zipper most people just unzip it and they start to try and get into it no it's wrong believe me you have to squeeze into it and it hurts and everything like that you want to open it up and then turn it into like the Michelin Man and then you hop into it [Music] my name is Joey Ren Haven um I've been with Earth healing for about two years now so my name is Kyle stck uh been in the Cannabis industry my entire life I've been with Earth healing for the last 2 years since the greenhouse opened right on well where should we get started with Pest Management in a facility like this Joey first and foremost is paying attention to detail and and and scouting and here at Earth's healing we go bug and Beyond to really make sure that we do a great job uh paying attention to the canopy paying attention to the root Zone um in all aspects being fully on board with paying attention to what we're doing you say a bug in Beyond dude that is so funny I was like I know that was so funny I would say bugs like cannabis maybe even more than people do so it's a full-time job to try and keep them from eating eating all these crops uh Joey like tell us a little bit more about some of your tactics so early on in the plant's life we will essentially use a lot of uh bcas within our tank mixes as well but we are spraying often and constantly up until a certain point in the plant's life to which we're no longer able to because it is cannabis but then we switch to a more biological face or forward program um using beneficial insects after we're no longer able to do our part so all of our sprays here are Armory certified meaning that they are all registered and recognized by the organic material re search Institute meaning that is it is an organic product to be used on cannabis which is really important one of the biggest things with IPM and for us is it's a mantra it's consistency it's reps it's not just when things happen right it's being uh proactive not reactive cultural control is a big part here um in our IPM program changing in and out you know we see our we wear our scrubs um you guys are in tyvec suits we have foot baths at the entrance um of every room we also have sticky mats and by the way if you're a hobbyist or commercial Gardener and you want to use or use beneficial insects check out growershouse auto.com where we built in whole e-commerce site designed to automate and Subscription Service predatory insects for your cannabis garden well my dudes thank you for teaching me about IPM at Earth healing hey man we're going to go bug on out of here bug out bug out bug [Music] out the way Arizona worked dispensary licenses uh the locations were very very important and there were very few locations in Tucson that qualified uh you had to be away from a church a school daycare Library Etc we went on and leased uh five buildings around town that we were holding on to waiting for for the state to go ahead and pick the dispensaries and then the governor sued the state for 2 years so we continued paying rent on empty buildings for two more years and finally the the day came and and we received the license that must have not been cheap it exhausted pretty much my retirement savings we held on as long as we could and finally the day came it was a good [Music] day so we're here in the flowering Bay and we're with two very important people within their healing or organization why don't we start off with Ed I'm Ed Tracy I'm the greenhouse manager here at ceiling I'm mil Sadowski I'm the chief cultivation officer for ceiling I have to say I'm very familiar with you guys you are Hometown Heroes in the Cannabis sector my man miles here I've probably known for more than a decade we DJ together he was at my bachelor party which you'll hear nothing about and honestly you guys are one of the Cannabis operations to Aspire to in terms of cultivation prowess and just management style so you guys you know both grew indoors prior to this greenhouse opening up I know that this was one of miles's baby I mean he's been working on this project for how long 3 years ago today we got our first uh truck of materials for this uh agch structure here and this is really what they would call what a mix light greenhouse or it's a mix light greenhouse we try to marry what we think is best about indoor as far as control with what the Elixir that really makes everything possible in this facility which is the sun since you guys came from the indoor growing side now you're growing Greenhouse I would just like to get some of your guys' kind of opinions perspectives learnings on that transition so for me coming into a greenhouse the first biggest things I noticed with the plant responses so normal times in an indoor where you would have lag in your plants say from Veg into flower here with the outside sun and available daylight plants respond significantly to the transitions from one place to the other in the house there's almost no lag time and no down time on the plants I like to say in an indoor you get to play God in Greenhouse you got to play with God BPD chart a psychometric chart you can hit these numbers in all kinds of different levels plants can take very large amount of heat as long as you keep enough humidity to keep the stamato open and keep them going into drought stress mhm I mean these plants look super healthy we're in Arizona this summer it was like 110° but in the winter the Highs are like in the 70s and even that night they can be dropping to like the 30s you guys have told me that you have a drastic difference in yield from Summer to Winter I would say 30 40% wow when doing a analysis and looking at those low light months it became very evident that some additional supplemental lighting was needed ED being Ed would not let me shut down for a month not a month not a week not even a day no I don't have time for patience so so luckily I I came across the California light works new product which is these mdl 400s and what really is the game changer is the remote power supplies which can run up to 26 of those fixtures off of one power supply I'm running some of these lengths are close to 240 ft with a very little voltage drop the installation of these California light works Mega Drive systems saved me electrical infrastructure which led to less electrical inspectors which uh saved me massive capital expenditure I think it would probably cost three times as much to do the project if I had gone with any uh conventional LED where I would actually need to to plug in each of the fixtures so you even mentioned that you don't top your plants at all no we don't so we run a really tight schedule we Run 12-day Cycle in veg so really with that it just a really limited amount of time to top of plant as soon as you top a plant then you're adding a variable as you cut off the appical mar stem you normally end up with two shoots but sometimes you get a runner when you're going and setting trellis and setting plants that might lend into more training to do what our endgame is which basically is how do we get as many Bud sites in four of these squares as possible so you guys laid down three or four layers of trellis netting I was chatting with miles one day and he was like man we spend so much time laying trellis netting it'd be so cool if there was just a device that basically we could roll out all of them at once because we spend so much doing one layer at a time and that conversation kept going and we started designing this product that we are indeed at this greenhouse and miles can you speak to it a little bit what that process was like and what we did are you talking about the trellis Slayer 9000 yeah yeah so uh going through our different workflow resetting these Peaks was taking a long time uh kind of the standard protocol everybody was doing was setting up some sort of scaffold or some sort of pole and getting uh your TR roll out and pulling them out one at a time and dropping them down but I don't know a single person that ever throws one layer of trellis we worked on got the design going and the initial prototype worked pretty well in our situation and uh what we found was we went from having two people taking 8 hours to roll out 3,000 ft of trellis now took one person uh like an hour yeah yeah we measured in this facility and it was at 88% reduction in labor hours yeah you guys have 18 to 20 genetics as josea mentioned what are some of your guys' personal favorites some of my personal favorites uh White rainbows brings it home to the bank TPS Effectiveness uh yields great for us in the house it gives me no headaches which makes my life simple one of my favorites is Cleo Cleo is great as a live resin it's great solventless it's great in Vapes it's an amazing smoke the flour is delicious it fills out canopies nice so Miles I noticed that when we were coming in through the facility we walk right past the fertigation room you guys don't use batch tanks yeah and let's chat about that so we strip everything out we use a RO system the large green tanks outside of the facility those are 10,000g Ro tanks the tank that you saw in our fertigation area is actually on a chiller that ensures that uh we keep enough dissolved oxygen in the in the water for the plants that large tank you saw that shilled water is then pushed through a set of pumps into our H Anderson injector system it's pretty rare that you see facilities uh of this size not having what are called day tanks or batch tanks I would not feel comfortable running a system such as this if it wasn't for our H Anderson injection systems they're manufactured here in the USA in muskog Oklahoma they have the best customer service I've ever come across and they're bulletproof they liability of the product is unmatched and uh they're what make a system like this possible the Redundant pH probes the EC monitoring system and the way they communicate I haven't had a single issue with them and I've ran through more water than I care to admit you know when I'm visualizing this I just think of like this path of water and then each one of those solenoids are kind of pumps of these little elves dropping little nutrient fairy dust into the water so they're not elves are like giant ogres using pneumatic pressure to direct inject slam nutrients into a high press stream of water got it somewhere like that world's strongest man competition just pushing what you need into the water stream over and over again okay guys why don't we go check some of this stuff out let's go check it let's do it so one of the cool thing about tucon that almost no one knows unless you live here is that Tucson is like a UNESCO sight of gas astronomy which basically what that means is like we have super unique food here and what that super unique food is is soran Mexican food which is a different type of Mexican food than TexMex or like what you might get in LA or something like that so if you come down to us on you're probably going to eat some dank stuff so this is what we're getting sorin style hot dog I didn't come up with that uh you soran hot dog so this thing is like a hot dog wrapped in bacon they put beans on it and then Pico deallo mustard and [Music] mayo touch bring it hard touch shake the Street Retreat I'm here with Adam and Bob from agrotech and your company manufactured this greenhouse that we're standing in right now I know that Miles worked very closely with you guys to bring this Vision to fruition so let's just start off with who you guys are and what your roles are at the company uh thanks Nate yeah Adam pound uh I'm an owner at agch Greenhouse manufacturers we've been doing this for 50 years we're a family business you know work with every crop Under the Sun cannabis being a really fun important crop to us hey I'm Bob stars and I'm a technical sales and product development at agretech you know it's good to meet you guys in the flesh because we've been to a lot of different facilities all over the country and we were actually at Honeydew farms and lo suenos farms uh which are past episodes where they were running agratech green houses so this is at a minimum the third agratech Greenhouse that we've been to if not more yeah we've probably been through bunch and didn't know it yeah probably you guys are well used in the Cannabis industry let's start off talking about this facility in particular it is a purpose built Greenhouse for cannabis by miles in collaboration with agretech what can you tell us about that process of working with our healing and miles on building this yeah miles and I have uh we work very hard on this thing it's so collaborative we are manufacturing the frame here in in the US we're doing it at our home base in Pittsburgh California we form it we Break It We punch it to then put together kind of this kit for Miles laid out the greenhouse again based on the size of the plant we covered the greenhouse we insulated the greenhouse we curtain put the curtain systems in the greenhouse the cooling system the heating and the benching so those are all things that together with Miles and all of our customers we work together on to uh see that they get exactly what they want this is a controlled environment agriculture Greenhouse we do call it a smart Greenhouse uh it has the ability to cool itself dehumidify itself rehumidify itself heat itself all through a computer controller that can be seen here on site or offsite uh through your phone or iPad or computer got it I mean like with Arizona I mean it sounds like a greenhouse here Bob for example would be different than a greenhouse let's say in like Denver or Massachusetts so yeah we take a look at uh you know where the greenhouse is located we look at temperature we look at light we look at humidity of the area they're putting their Greenhouse in and then we build our Greenhouse around that sometimes we'll use a negative pressure Greenhouse so we can suck a lot of the air out when it's really hot like it is here and it works really well with our evaporative cooling system we also take into account like how much light is coming into the greenhouse and and what the nighttime temperatures are so in this greenhouse we have a shade system that doubles as a energy curtain during the night and a shade system during the day it can be used at the middle of the summer when it's the hottest we put enough shade on the crop so that it can grow at it it's Optimum but then in the summer we can take that away and let all the sun in and let the plants grow at the best they can predominantly use a company by the name of lud big fenon and they have I don't know it must be 60 to 80 different varieties from light diffusion to light transmission to heat retention to light deprivation to exterior shade they have so many and they also do all of our insect screens do you know what uh types of shade cloths they have here and like what percentages those are in the project here we have our veg we have two curtain systems so we have a light deprivation and then we have a shade and heat retention curtain system in both the veg and the flour uh in the veg Bay we're running approximately a 45% shade which is 100% diffused so and in the summer we're going to pull that you know these young tender plants we want to be able to uh minimize the intensity on them so that we don't stress them out in the flower then we go and put in I think it's about a 27% that Miles wanted in his flowering Bay here for the shade it also can add act as a heat retention curtain in the winter we have about 50 different options that we can put in here between energy and shading and it we put those in different areas of the of the world depending on what the climate is and what the crop is why don't we touch based on this whole polycarbon erss glass thing this is like a kind of big conversation for cannabis Growers who are focusing on green houses what we have here is about the a location in the US with about the most light intensity there is and so we're actually trying trying to probably minimize a small amount of the light that's coming into these houses another bonus of having a polycarbonate house is we use we use a very light frame so there's a lot less Steel in our framing than a a greenhouse with glass so that allows us to do a much more robust very strong structure for a very minimal amount of money compared to a glass structure so Bob it also sounds like when someone builds out a new Greenhouse Your Role is also uh as part of a service that agretech offers to come out and like help help dial that little guy in right yeah we I'll come out and uh you know help you uh get your controller set up make sure all your set points are right I mean miles would say sets us part is the service and the you know responsiveness that we offer and that's kind of one of the core values of the company well enough talk about this facility let's go walk it let's do it let's do [Music] it system so Miles you brought me out here because I was asking about the misting in the greenhouse and is that just for cooling and then you were like aha seor come over here so let's chat about this so uh fog Co is kind of a jack of all trades in our facility there's two different uh pumps here one of them has multiple zones uh that's interlocked with our exhaust fan so anytime there's air leaving the building it's getting a high pressure fog uh that's being injected with with the cannab user products the tpin that are off gassing uh out of suspension and makes the odor basically dissipate inside the bay it's purely just RO water for maintaining dpd and uh keeping the plants tomata open what's great about it also when you're using high- pressure fogging it acts as a cooling method as well which limits the amount of exhaust that you have to to send out of the [Music] house hi my name is Jess Wright I am the indoor cultivation manager here at Earth heiling where we are debuting our strain Viet fog for our first drop with the prism brand and we're very excited for it both the THC profile and the turpine profile really complement each other for a really nice heavy indicia High the cifam Min has a good structure to it and the grape gas has a real Berry grape turp profile to it and so we selected this pheno specifically from from our feno hunt cuz it had a well balance of both characteristics the THC percentage for this pheno uh comes around 22% all the way up to 27% depending on the yield and harvest this feno is only located here at Earth [Music] healing we were looking for a name that wasn't indicative of other names that were being used at the time with colors color green or the green this the green that and we wanted it to be like a statement of who we are and we're here to serve and to help heal people so Earth's healing came out my husband came up with a name and Maggie's done all the artwork and all the branding I didn't have any formal training in marketing or graphic design or anything so I was just learning as I went and it was a lot of trial and error we really wanted to have a cohesive brand and wanted it to be clean and professional looking because there was already a perception that cannabis was not legitimate and kind of taboo so we wanted to have a presentation that was different than [Music] that so I'm here with the TPL Lord AKA Chris and uh I guess that you kind of manage all this drying curing whole process huh yes uh oversee the Harvest the drying and the curing all the way through a trim stage and final packaging nice so let's chat about how that all goes down here and what you guys process is we uh hang dry all our plants 10 to 14 days we determine how long it's drying by the water activity we try to harvest it hand Buck it you guys use water activity not water content correct um that helps like the mold aspir Gillis we then hand bucket into uh our 27g bins where we use the tough stuff pack liners we switched over to the tough stuff pack sacks in our bins we like them cuz the bins are a little bit more rectangular and the bags are a little thinner and it makes a little bit more workable in the material and it did save us a lot of cost on the long run um with switching over and then from there we will cure it for roughly 30 days before trim you guys do machine trimming hand trimming what's that like uh no machine trimming here we do all hand trimming uh for quality purposes and preservation of material so let's even chat about the just the environmental parameters let's go over how you keep those rooms uh and some of the environmental parameters some of the equipment we try to run our dry room roughly 65° uh temperature and then between 55 and 60% humidity we used the quest 225s uh we run three in our dry room to uh to push out all the all the humidity that we we have going on we love them they work great they're workhorses uh easy to maintenance easy to maintain quick and easy to change out filters longevity on the filters the most energy efficient unit on the market saves us a lot of money on the energy bill I think they're great units what about the curing room curing room we use a quest 174 temperature in the Cure room we generally run between 65° and 50% humidity to draw out that long slow cure when using a compressor based systems such as the quest we want to keep our 65° temperatures and our 55% humidities in a safe range instead of running like other facilities at 60% humidity and 60° temperature they are compressor based systems so we don't want the humidity swing to go up when we're already at 60% so we're trying to run a little bit safer at the 55% humidity range to prevent any kind of material loss got it drop some TPL Lord advice I see TPL Lord thank you for letting me hang out on your lirer no thank you for coming [Music] today so Jeremy we're hanging out in the analytical lab which is actually at Earth healing normally these labs are like offsite a whole company third party not many facilities actually have their own analytical lab Yeah so basically what we do in here is do a lot of quality control quality assurance of our products we also do a little bit of research on the side just to be able to scrutinize and investigate the cannabis plant to the full extent what was the purpose of you guys building this lab if you have to send it off for a third party to test it anyways well there's a lot of different reasons um mainly we could pay a lot of money to test things at a regular basis with other labs um but here we actually save a little bit of money to be able to analyze our products inous before they're sent off another objective of this lab is to do very deep in depth research on the cannabis plant in the grow we wanted to analyze the progression of cannabinoids and tping through the flowering stage we start off with um a very low number of canabo and then week eight we we have four sometimes sometimes five canabo that are in there that relatively high concentrations with our solvent list extraction we wanted to see what different Micron sizes would dictate higher canabo concentrations you're publishing papers out of this lab white paper scientific papers like we're working on publishing we're doing a lot of research right now so one thing we want to do is figure out the difference between live resin extraction cured resin extraction and rosin solvent list extraction to see the canono and interin concentration of those and see if there any major differences so we're here in the lab which is always one of my favorite scenes to come filming and you guys have a lot going on in your lab let's just uh introduce you guys so will what exactly is your role here at healing yeah so I help run the operations for really the seed to sale what about you Eddie uh so I'm the lab director um I've been with the company since day one pretty much nice so you know something that's really cool about the way that you guys run your lab and your cultivation facility is that everything is inhouse yeah so we're 100% single Source um which means that everything that we extract here is actually grown here um even our distill is Source from our garden this allows us to basically have complete control over the flour and make sure that we can control that quality all the way up from seed to oil so can we even start with like what kind of things you guys have in your lab yeah so um we actually utilize both solventless and solvent-based extraction solvent based extraction or things like BHO or pH and things like that we specialize in dho having that ability to have both methods of extraction really allows us to showcase the best form of the cultivar or strength so some strains they showcase themselves better as a solventless product and other strains might showcase themselves better as a BHO or a solvent based product having that ability to kind of you know pivot between the two really allows us to bring out the best flavor mhm so let's actually talk about some of the solventless methods that you guys have for extraction right now yeah so right now we're using uh we're just using basically like bubble hash like water hash um a lot of people call it ice water hash but we don't utilize ice we're just utilizing a chilled vessel and chilled water up to freezing temperatures this allows us to have kind of a more gentle wash you know the ice can be pretty abrasive um in the wash so really just kind of keeping the Integrity of our triome heads and making it sure that our wash is as gentle as possible has really shown our quality mhm so like what kind of products are coming out of that for example yeah so we make rosin fresh presses which is like right off the press you just package it up like that we have cold cures which we can cure you know in a cold temperature around 50° for a certain given period of time and then it'll be more of like a batter te texture consistency so we we definitely do live resin carts so made from a solvent-based extraction like vho um there's no distillate there's no added tpin and then you have the distillate ones as well right yep exactly we have a bunch of distillate carts um we've been doing that for years we're also formulating some CDT distillate cards which rather than using the Botanical tpin that you see like from other plants like the really fruity kind of candy flavored ones we're starting to use actual tpin from Cannabis that is rad I mean will you were even mentioned like right before we were chatting like sometimes you go into the dispensary you'll chat with customers and you'll tell them about something you're up to in the lab that you're excited to bring out and they like have no idea what you're talking about kind of because you guys are experimenting here so much with stuff that's just new to the market maybe never been seen before yeah that's part of the education which is probably the hardest part of the whole industry educating them like this is good hii is great but let's talk about Flavor let's talk about how it affects you that that's something that we're always challenging ourselves to do one of the cool things about about Vicki is she's given us the opportunity to make sure that we provide people the best product that we can and the best care that we can and that's really that's our mission is to to help people and to give them the best product and not to charge them a million dollar it's kind of cool cuz I don't often go into a lab and then talk to two technicians like the solvent technician the solvent list technician yes tastes great less fing well let's talk about some of the products that come out of each of your sides so Fernando what's coming out of your side so um some of the products that were showcasing right now cured and live resin my primary responsibilities are solventless extraction the difference between hydrocarbon is we you utilizing mechanical separation to uh make a product an extract product that hasn't touched any uh solvents so what kind of product types are coming out your side so mostly live products at the moment everything extracted from fresh roseen flour uh we have a few consistencies on our rosin so we like to do a lot of fresh press so that's literally the oil freshly pressed from the Tricom um stored until testing's done and packaged away awesome well thank you for letting me hang out in the lab this place is beautiful but a little too cold for me to hang out here all day I'm out appreciate the time thank you appreciate [Music] it we all of our ASMR fans why don't we say hi to Grant I think he's the uh supply chain director that is correct I'm the supply chain director for Earth healing wow that's amazing Grant how long have you worked at Ur healing and how didd you get connected with this this team I've been working with Earth heiling for about four years now um I've known Vicki for a long time I actually went to to school with with Will and and Magda and uh and Eddie um and then I got introduced to to Miles and actually helped him with uh one of the first harvests at at NS healing and so that was sort of my introduction to the company as well as the Cannabis industry um what product products are becoming more popular these days I think right now we're seeing a big increase in the ready to use Market I think a lot of people are into disposables and and cartridges CU you can just throw it in your pocket and live your life well it's a a fun one for us is the infused pre-rolls because it's where our our extracts sort of meet the the grow side of things and so we can we can make both why not why not join them and we're introducing a premium line of of cannabis called prism and for me it's a it's a lot of new strains a lot of new names to kind of get used to I know one of our first drops will be Violet fog so I'm excited for that you know thanks for showing us a little bit of your life I think uh it's on to the next scene thank [Music] you so miles so rarely do I see a private cannabis company collaborate with a public university but you guys are doing that tell me a little bit about it growing up here in in Tucson Arizona we're we're obviously uh Wildcat fans and being in the same city of such an amazing research University especially one with such a strong CA program I always always wanted to do something and collaborate with them especially when it came to the agriculture of cannabis and what we do here nice so it sounds like we have Dr Rex here who is spearheading that program at the University of Arizona a few years ago when the farm bill passed and they decriminalized or descheduled hemp the opportunity presented itself to start growing hemp because our CEO program is so good like we should be at the Forefront of cannabis as well not many people know that the University of Arizona controlled environmental Agriculture Center is like one of the top three in the US you guys even actually I know we're like simulating growing you know plants on the moon there like you guys are doing some crazy scientific research with plants can you tell us a little bit about what you guys have done in this hemp program like I I want to know like what kind of research is going on sure um first started with aquaculture I got into aquaponics using like fish effluent to grow plants and saw like wow this is like amazing like plants are growing incredibly without having to manipulate nutrients or mix nutrients or anything like that you know as soon as hemp came on the table I just I was like what if we try it with aquaponics I think there's a lot of potential there it's organic you know it saves water things like that like sometimes between 40 and 60% doing just flow through with our aquaculture affluent uh compared to Hydroponics we're able to get equivalent yields with slightly higher cannaboid levels so well we're really excited to develop an internship program uh due to state regulations there's certain rules that we have to stick to to be on at the facility you have to be over 21 basically it's a vertical company that goes from seed to sale so as far as ability for uh students and uh uh postgrads to get access to Real World experience it's basically untethered well guys this was an unexpected surprise you know to be able to sit down uh and chat with you Dr Rex thanks for the time we have felt the majority being male in the industry so going to conferences and things like that earlier on there was this perception that maybe we didn't know what we were doing and we weren't taken very seriously at first I think that's evolved now the group that we have it doesn't matter whether you're a woman or a guy that our leadership team involves both right female and male and we believe in what we're doing and we don't believe in just being in it for the money have companies ever come up to you and said like you know we want to buy you yes often and we've said no thank you and that may be one of the biggest reasons for the success of of the company is that we're not here to accumulate as much cash as we can we've reinvested in in our employees in our people in our facilities I think that's what makes this so rewarding is being able to work with people that we care about and family members and having seen them struggle but seeing them overcome a lot of the challenges that we had it's really fulfilling to be at the place where we at now so you have will who's like your cheap operations officer you have miles basically just part of your family you know what cannabis is really well known for turnover oh my goodness we're known for the opposite they are brilliant and they are part of our family this is a woman ran company that's going to stay woman ran right and local and Latin like that's there's not many companies in the Cannabis industry that are as successful as you are if any that I think could say that it's pretty cool yeah all right I'm going to mic you up for your part don't worry I got this man done this before looks like this guy's done this before man you guys want to talk about some cannabis not anymore no no my friend what's going on guys where you guys going hey hey hey guys come on we got to talk about weed you know so we really started with a a very lean budget and so I haven't paid much attention to the fact that I know are you kidding me guys things like that I think maybe don't even know what that thing is Miles we good hold on let's wait for them to give us the thumbs up thumbs up okay the co said thumbs up thumbs up hi yeah yeah typically we like to have quick turnaround times typically we like to have quick nutrients without having to take up so much water thank you
