Thanks for Hey guys, Dzień dobry! Welcome to Polandka Safar. My name is Riju. Whether you are coming to Warsaw for short term, that is for tourism, or for long term, that is for work or you are a student, you will definitely use the public transport system.
here in warsaw we have different options of public transport system such as we have metro tram and buses so in this video we will discuss everything in detail in our experience of me staying here in seven months i never felt the need to buy a car because the public transport system here is highly efficient and dependable generally speaking warsaw's public transport system offers three options metro tram and bus all of these are operated by the same company called zdm so just by purchasing one ticket or card we can use all these options as per our convenience The city is divided into two public transport zones i.e. Zone 1 and Zone 2. Zone 1 covers the main part of the city and Zone 2 covers the suburbs and outskirts. Understandably, metro and tram services are divided into two parts.
is limited to zone 1 whereas buses cover both zones. Ticket prices differ between zones. So be sure about your destination before purchasing your ticket.
Warsaw is the only city in Poland which has a complete underground metro system as of today. There are two metro lines running through the city, namely M1 which is the blue line and M2 which is the red line. Both of these lines meet in Warsaw CBD station called Świętokrzyska.
The M1 line is in operation since 1995 and the newer M2 line started only in 2015. When using the metro, you need to buy a ticket beforehand because ticket needs to be scanned at the station entry gates. People often take pets and cycle also in the metros. Moving up to the ground level, the city has wide network of trams and buses.
Trams can be found in different designs. Some old fashioned trams are still operating but mostly the trams are modern with easy access for people with wheelchair or baby strollers. Remember to press the button to open the door while entering or exiting. Just like traffic moves on the right side of the road, tram also keeps the right side track.
At each tram or bus stop, we can find the list of trams or buses that come to the stop along with the detailed timings. Also, there will be usually a digital timing board showing the upcoming trams and wait times. Moreover, we can also track the movement of trams and buses on Google Maps. While using the buses and improving the traffic, important thing to note here is that along any bus route the bus will not stop at every station.
There are some stations that are called Niyajandhania meaning stop on request. If you want to get down at such stations, you have to take a bus. station then you need to press the stop button else you will miss it there are ticket machines at mostly every stop where you can easily buy a paper ticket in india we purchase ticket from one stop to another stop so we need to get down at exactly that stop but in poland we purchase tickets with timings this means that if we buy a 20 minute ticket then we can go wherever we want but we should complete our journey within 20 There are different timing options available such as 20 minutes, 75 minutes, 90 minutes, one day pass, weekend pass, group tickets and even long term tickets like 1 month and 3 months.
Each has different price and the company offers flat 50% discount for students. The most basic 20 minute tickets cost 3.4 slotless. But for students, it will cost only 1.7 slotis.
Long-term tickets are given as cards which have to be purchased from companies office branches buying a ticket is quite easy because the ticket machines have an english language selection once you purchase a ticket you will get this paper with the magnet strip and the back side will be blank after you get onto the tram or bus you need to approach a validation machine to validate your ticket It will then show the ticket status as red, orange or green and also print the time of scanning. From this moment your time starts. Ticket could be also purchased in mobile app and those e-tickets have to be also validated by scanning the QR code inside the tram or bus.
Validating ticket is very important because if tickets are not validated then it is considered as travelling without ticket and you can be fined up to 150 slottos. Every bus and tram will also have a ticket machine inside. Overall, navigating Watsos public transport is very easy.
We just need to enter our destination in Google Maps and it will show the best options based on our current location and time. Then simply follow it blindly. So far, our experience in using the public transport is very positive and we are very happy with the service.
hope you found this video useful and i will see in the next video chinkoya davidzina
