[Music] hello and welcome to these emulate 3d training videos we're very excited to show you all of the amazing things which emulate 3d can do but before we get ahead of ourselves we need to talk about the installation process and licensing the first thing we need to do is register on the emulate 3d web store which is at store.sim3d.com and this is going to be a website you'll want to bookmark as it contains lots of training material example model builds and downloads for additional plugins and catalog components it also contains our download links for the different versions of envy like 3d which we're going to want to use you'll need to register as a user which will be approved and we ask that you use your company's email address in order to register so we can better track down who you are and which company you work for once you've been approved we can log on to the web store and be taken to an environment that contains lots of different training links on all sorts of topics we're going to want to go to the fundamentals category at first and you can explore all of these individual topics at your own leisure once the software is running the download information for each edition can be found in this category fundamentals and if we click on this and start you'll be taken to a document that provides you a link to an ftp site that you can download the the latest versions of emulate3d this has a username and a password to get to this ftp site and this is distinct from your own username and password that you just used on the web source so make sure you use the username and password outlined in this document just here the installation process for emulate3d should be straightforward if you have any issues at all you can go to store.sim3d.com forward slash help to look at our our manual our formal documentation which contains lots of information on the installation process system requirements and any other things that you might need and that should help you through any potential issues that you may have you'll then want to load up the software for the first time so i'm going to open up my unlicensed version of emulate 3d and it's going to ask me for two pieces of information we need to decide what edition of emulate 3d we're running and then how we're going to license it there's many different options for what edition we use within emulate3d and these have different feature sets if we're interested in what these different editions do then we can click on this blue question mark and we'll open up a matrix that tells us what emulate 3d ultimate is versus demo 3d professional for example the emulate 3d ultimate license can do everything we see straight tick marks on all of the different capabilities here and if you're trying the software and you're going to request a evaluation license we would recommend that you select emulate 3d ultimate so you can try out all of the features once we've chosen the edition which we're going to run we'll next be greeted by our loading screen and then a licensing screen where we can choose how we're going to license the software if we are evaluating the software then we'll choose an evaluation license which will take us to a page to generate something called an arc file you can send this to activation at demo3d.com and we will provide you with a temporary license a short period of time so that you can try out the software if you have purchased a license you'll want to use one of the other options here with the dongle being the physical usb key which you plug into your computer has a license tied to it the nls being a locally hosted server that allows you to access licenses and borrow licenses and the uls being a cloud-based server that performs the same functionality so for example if we choose the uls just here and then enter the serial number which is being provided to you we can always investigate how our software is currently licensed by going to the top right hand corner to access our help information and going to licenses i can see that i'm currently activated by a uls server and this also allows me to borrow a license for a set amount of time so if i don't have an internet connection in order to connect to that server i'll still be able to be licensed i can pull the license from that server temporarily for a set amount of time
