when editing your gaming videos have you ever felt like you've hit a wall on what you should edit next to take your video to the next level well you're definitely not alone that's why in today's video I'm going to be showing you guys 10 easy to ouse techniques to take your videos from mediocre to Pro so jumping right into te man technique number one is sinking the audio of your video clips you may have files for a face cam taken from a camera raw gameplay footage a live stream recording maybe your friends gameplay angle these clips can be automatically aligned together just by selecting your desired clips and then using the multicam feature now you'll be able to work with one full video clip that incorporates not just one but multiple video angles that can be cut trimmed and interchanged throughout your entire video edit making it so much more Dynamic now I was just using my video editor Final Cut Pro to do this multi-cam but you'll also find this feature in editors such as Adobe Premiere the Vinci resolve and even free video editor such as cap cut in some capacity in cap cut after selecting your desired Clips within your timeline you can rightclick and select sync video to sound making it a whole lot easier to edit multiple clips together a good thing to keep in mind though when you are going through your first pass of your edit is to not worry about the b roll or overlay shots you can worry about that later first focus on your a roll that primary or what I like to call Base edit so that you at least know what's going to be in your video and what what's not going to be in your video speaking of what you shouldn't have in your video are the boring Parts there may be parts of your video that you might think are cool and interesting but you need to do a little bit of self critiquing because your audience may not care so do your very best to keep in the most interesting and engaging parts of your video because that will allow your viewers not to abandon your video one of the easiest ways to do this is by cutting out parts of your video where there's no action happening whatsoever or by removing the areas where there's no commentary occurring this might seem like a tedious exercise but it'll improve the overall pace of your video so that it doesn't get boring you can also incorporate L and J cuts into your edits and this is when you have two different audio tracks mixing over one another so that way you have a smooth transition from One Clip to the other and the audio sound seamless jumping into the third technique on this list is utilizing meme effects this is especially important for those of you making entertainment or funny moments gaming content you can simply go to sites such as memes.com to search up different things that you might find funny and then you can go ahead and download them directly to your computer you can also go to YouTube to find meme content and typically you can find 5 10 15 minute videos of a complete mashup of a bunch of different meme effects you can download these videos using a YouTube video downloader another great site you can search for memes on is gify they also have a bunch of funny trending things that you can download if you want even quicker access to memes if you're using a video editor such as cap cut you can search for memes right within the software and drag them directly to your timeline just remember to use this technique sparingly it can get very annoying for the viewer if you're popping in meme effects every 10 seconds the next editing technique on this list is adding subtitles to your videos these are fantastic to use to add an extra layer of Engagement to your video they help emphasize points you can use them when there's unclear commentary you don't want to have more than one to three words in each set of your subtitles that appears on screen and you want these things to pop too in cap cut for example a super easy way to do this is by going to the text section and applying a default text effect to your timeline from there you can adjust the sizing and positioning of that text so that it's out of the way from the primary focus of the video scene then under the basic section you can type out what was said make sure you choose a nice easyto read bold looking font I like zy fervent that's in cap cut here if it's just you talking in the video you can keep your font color set to white but if there's more than one person talking in your video then try changing the colors to yellow blue or red depending on who's talking it's also super important that you add a stroke outline to your text to make it pop better next you want to go to the animation Tab and choose the bouncing effect to make the text really come out at you as it's being said adjust the duration di to control how fast the animation comes in if you need to add any more of these effects throughout your video just copy that text track and change up the wording in cap cut you can even save this as its own preset so that you don't have to keep recreating this effect come at me come at me sit down sit down bro sit down I highly recommend to you guys when you're using your subtitles if you don't use it anywhere else in the video do it at the intro that's going to help retain the viewers to your video and keep their attention for a longer period of time that actually leads us to the next technique here which is finding music to add to your videos sure some of you guys might say well the music doesn't matter it's all about the gameplay that's not fully true you can use different background music to match if something funny exciting or scary is happening you should even try pausing the music you can also switch up your background music during a transition I've done it several times in this video already and you're going to hear more songs throughout this video using the same low five beat for the entirety of your video for example it can get very boring for the viewer and you're not going to keep their attention that way mix it up have a few different songs so you can have on hand to add to your edit to match the energy of the different parts of your video now if you need some help finding the right songs then you should definitely check out lit you can get access to thousands of instrumental tracks a royalty-free catalog and the most unique feature of all is that you'll be able to license over 1 million popular mainstream tracks for your YouTube videos yeah 901 Shelby Drive look alive look alive came up on this side now they on the other side oh well them dog we going to see how hard they ride I get R to go outside and I spit it with there's not many gaming videos out there that you're going to find playing very relatable music like you just heard this can really separate your videos from the crowd you can search Lick's entire catalog by modifying the genre mood Tempo and popularity filters there's also hundreds of playlists that can be browsed with some of them even being for sound effects you can sign up the lick using my link in the description below and get a 14-day free trial and 50% off your first mainstream Track by the way for those of you who want to make montages one of the most important things that you should do is have the action and the music line up on the down beats or the emphasized points of the music don't just have the music track laid out and then just have your gameplay over it randomly capcut even has a feature where you can lay out the beat markers across your track so that you know where those emphasized points are be intentional for how you make your montage video it'll make it so much much better all right jumping into our sixth editing technique is adding zoom in camera movements you've probably seen this a lot where the camera Zooms in on a certain part of the video or the Creator's face for example well what you're seeing is a key frame effect with your clip selected go to the point in your video where you would like the zoom in motion to begin and set the first key frame then play to the point to where you would like the zoom in motion to finish set another key frame and then adjust your clip positioning so that your zoom in effect will fit finish where you want once you do that your key frame motions will be applied and your video should look like this get out of here bro it's a nice yet easy effect to apply to your videos to make them a bit more interesting now let's remember that key framing effect because it directly ties to the next technique which is maintaining or adding Focus to key elements of your video to help explain this point a little bit let's say for example there's an enemy that you're chasing in one of these firstperson shooter games the focus of the video within this particular scene should remain on that enemy until they're taken out you don't want to be chasing an enemy and then all of a sudden you jump to the next enemy and we don't know what even happened with that Last Enemy situation or encounter have some smooth connections between different parts of your videos especially when you're making Cuts circling back to key framing that can help with this as you can key frame to track certain objects on the screen you may need to go frame by frame by frame in your editing software which can be a little tedious or there's actually some software out there that can actually track objects automatically But whichever way you do it it's a nice effect to have so that the viewer can focus in on certain elements of your video the next Technique we have here is changing the color of your video there's a couple ways that you can approach this number one is just turning your video into a gray scale this can be a funny effect to use if you get killed in your game for example no but most importantly within this technique you guys need to color correct your videos having them the default colors of your capture card or your camera recordings they simply just don't look as good add a bit of brightness to it some contrast a little bit of saturation not too much not too much now add just a little bit of these effects to make your video look better and pop out more up next we have repurposing your edits for shorts all you guys need to do here once you've completed your Video Edit is to watch it back through find an exciting interesting part of your video that you can cut out 60 seconds of and put into another project modify the video's orientation to be in a vertical format add some additional edits or an intro at the beginning of your short and voila you have a completed short form video that you can now tie to your long form video on YouTube the last editing technique I have here for you guys and I think it's more of a tip to be honest but it's the study the big creators in your gaming Niche sit down grab some tea or coffee and actually watch watch these creators videos
