[Music] [Applause] honoring respect to chairman walker and to the entire board of bishops in fact all of our bishops who are here stand let me see how many bishops do we have in the house tonight amen praise god the bishops that are present tonight already and honoring respect to our general mother mother william a rivers man well how many supervisors do we have here already let me see the supervisors amen praise serve at god top tier of our organization and we praise god for those of you who have come now somebody said bishop patterson why would you have us in the wintertime to come to indiana i really wanted to give our lovely ladies an opportunity to wear your minx [Music] i i really don't like seeing those minks in july a thing [Music] this aim is too hot for me coats so to give you an opportunity to really wear them legally and legitimately we thought we'd come to indiana in the wintertime that's the general board member samuel greene good to see him amen i'm not going to take up a lot of time we certainly want you to be up bright and early in the morning to begin the schedule as it has been already observed not at 7 45 but at 8 30 when that particular agenda was presented to me i told them that's a 7 45 too early we're not going to get up that early but somehow the correction wasn't made and it went to print so we will begin at 8 30 and we're looking to see everybody at that time as we'll have the devotion praise and worship and we'll be blessed with the message in fact tomorrow's message is from bishop who is a great teacher that many of us have not had the opportunity of hearing him but bishop t walter plummer of connecticut is going to be our speaker on tomorrow morning and we've got great speakers throughout this meeting even as we have on tonight and i'm not going to take up any more of his time because i found out that it does not take waiting until midnight for the holy ghost to come because sometimes when we are too lengthy in our services by the time that late night holy ghost arrive we're kind of tired and worn out and if there's anything at all that we have tried to do in this administration it is to showcase the gospel to put the gospel preacher up while your minds are yet open and receptive we have a great preacher who is a son of the church of god in christ who serves as the jurisdictional prelate of the great lakes number one ecclesiastical jurisdiction in michigan and uh he is no stranger to us he's coming at this time to go as the lord shall lead and direct him let's receive our own bishop walter bogan [Music] i bless you uh it's been well now 20 years now since my bill has been run for the national church i used to serve my spiritual father and mentor and he'd always have me doing something and he said yeah you want to preach communion and i ain't running for nothing now just glad to be around you little did i know that it be 20 more years since i get a chance to [Music] teach you better take your opportunities with you and get them you never know when you get another one yes it's unusual i haven't been here in a long time the fathers that i served have all been promoted to glory i've gained maybe 75 100 pounds [Music] and most of my hair's gone but it's good to be here tonight yeah i'm gonna preach them nowhere i'm over it i'm just getting the feel of you and let you get a feeling lay your hands on the ones next to you we're going to pray invoke god's favors [Music] yeah i remember the last time the prince of preachers stood before us he was immaculate in his appearance as always had a blue double-breasted blazer gold buttons and gray herringbone trousers white shirt and red white and blue ties two men went up to the temple to pray one thought he could pray and couldn't and one knew he couldn't pray and did yeah you'd be surprised which one of us could get a prayer through tonight sometime the one that's a far off whose head is hung in dejection feels so much remorse for his life of disobedience it's the very one who's in tune with god and sometimes the spiritual big shot religious but not righteous sitting up here puffed up in his own mind looking down his spiritual nose at others thanking god that i'm not as them is the one god's not studying about but it's good to be in the presence of the people of god for we can try and strengthen help and assistance for two are better than one and the threefold cord is not easily broken lay that blessed hand of yours on the one next to you for the thing that we have goes from heart to heart from breast to breast father god the father god we thank thee now we pray for leaders in authority everywhere i pray for kings and potentiates presidents [Music] i pray for president bush and our congressional leaders and i pray for the generals that boys and girls in distant lands i pray for the president bishop of this church the general board general mother the missionaries and pastors and mothers i pray for bishops yes i pray for the work of the lord in the foreign field pray for the children hungry they're in africa ribs show through their skin flies buzz about their head so filled with disease they don't even bother to wave those diseased merchants away i pray pray for the people behind the iron curtain curtains of all kind i pray for those in afghanistan the name i got two three boys and girls over there and you haven't let one drop of their blood be spilled yes marvin is right there's no goodness of our own but it's by the grace of god that i've been kept all this time and we still have a mind to go on [Music] and so we think simple prayer we pray that you would let your favors be known tonight sinful shadowings and glimmers of thy grace i feel like moses up in the mountain with you show us your glory [Music] let your glory be revealed let your power be manifest stretch off your hand tonight lift the burden from off of our shoulder and take the yoke from off of our necks unstopped their ears oh god someone's sick i feel that pain now woman the lord heal you man your sins the lord forgive the blood of jesus the blood the blood the blood prevail the blood that speaks beyond the veil part of a new covenant a better covenant because it's based on better promises yes it's the blood that's saving us now you your own self took our families into your own body yes upon the tree and by whose stripes yeah and isaiah look forward it's with your strikes but peter looks back and i could hear mitchell saying yeah yeah yeah bye yeah yeah [Music] yeah we already healed yes that hand that touched you has healing in it yeah they shall lay hands on the city yeah you didn't know it the healing was right there yes when they laid their hands on you god started working invisibly the lord is being lifted the prayers been granted the answer's not been given even before we called he had answered you woman while you were yet speaking god had hurt you and told you here i am hallelujah i give a sprint tonight and that your deliverance be great thank god amen [Applause] reading a reading from the word of god in leviticus and now this is my father in the gospels sermon if i was in memphis at either church pentecostal temple or temple of deliverance i have a good time with this tonight so i want you all to join with me in this sermon uh leviticus the 22nd chapter the reason why i say this because i didn't know what i was going to preach you know it's hard for a preacher to say that when you preach for a living walls filled with sermons but if the preacher don't come you just standing in vain and i just wondered what are doing two days ago the lord give the revelation and this is a particular favorite of bishop j.o patterson and we're going to talk about flat noses tonight amen flat noses amen leviticus 22 and 16 and the lord speaking to moses saying speaking to aaron saying whosoever he be yeah i think i'll read that again whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish let him not approach to offer the bread of his god whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish he shall not approach a blind man a lame or he that hath a flat nose or anything super fluids or the man that is broken footed or broken ended or crooked back or dwarf or hath a blemish in his eye or if he be scary or scabbed have this stones broken no man that hath the blemish of the seed of aaron the priest shall come now to offer the offerings of the lord he has a blemish he shall not come to offer the bread of his blood he shall eat the bread of his god both of the most holy and of the holy but only he shall not go in unto the veil come not to the altar because he hath a blemish that he profaned my sanctuaries amen touch somebody and tell them flat nose crooked back broken footed and scurvy in the eighth chapter of leviticus aaron and his sons are publicly set apart and inducted into the office of the priesthood aaron is noticed he is first taken and then brought and then separated and then sanctified hello somebody and then anointed and shut up in the house of god for seven days i don't have time to go to the step-by-step procedure of becoming an anointed vessel of god we're going to talk about the priesthood tonight but first aaron and his sons were washed together aaron is the sons of the figure of christ and the church moses applies the water it is he who shall wash them both what is the symbol of the word and the washing of the word is the applying of the principle of the scriptural truth it is through applying scriptural truth that we are set apart for particular and qualified for service in sanctification the church and christ are a unit in this picture both aaron and his sons are washed together but christ says that he sanctified himself first the bible says in hebrews 2 and 11 for both he that sanctifieth and they which are sanctified are all one and for which cause he is not ashamed to call them his brethren since our lord jesus christ was essentially and eternally clean we are not talking about a cleansing of the son of god but here pictured in the washing is the sanctifying or the separating and the setting apart for service this cleansing is a process of consecration from all eternity christ has been looked upon as one having been set apart and consecrated devoted to do god's will and work we are also set apart from eternity but the bible says in ephesians 1 and 4 that before the foundation of the world that we were chosen or set apart sanctified consecrated to be holy and without blame for the sake of the church christ says i sanctify myself he has set himself apart and devoted himself to god his father for in john 17 and 19 he declares plainly for their sex i set myself apart that they might be sanctified through the truth aaron is first set apart and now we start the story moses now takes the garments of glory and beauty and begins to put them on this man of god peace by peace so that it might be seen in all of his glorious detail the skill workmanship and the all surpassing beauty and the incredible richness of the character of christ puts on him an embroidered coat and is blue linen breaches courage about him a curious or a glorious girdle binding him in in the finest of his textures and perfections of color we're to see christ as we've never seen him before he puts upon him the blue robe with this ringing golden bells each one in perfect harmony with the other one each one totally in tune each one totally in sync we have the blue color the golden bells and the pomegranates alternating with the bells we have a threefold picture of the glorious unsurpassing beauty of christ for he is the fullness of the godhead body land he then clothes him now with an epod buttons it at the shoulders with two onyx stones and sets the breasts place in place the breastplate starting with the jasper four rows three rows across three across three across four rows down jasper of the diamond in the beginning and it started or the red stone at the end someone remarkably added that it was 12 diamonds not one diamond but 12 diamonds in 12 different colors starting with the white one and ending with the red one for every stone was a diamond isaiah looks forward and he sees the diamond first but john looks backwards and he sees the redstone first when you look forward you see what christ shall accomplish when you look back you see what is already finished we see the stones on the dress plate yeah i know you see the stones on the dress plate and within this breastplate is a little pouch i wish i was at home i'd go in and preach with this and in this house glimmering i've heard expositors work the breastplate talked about as he stood you see there was no light when you came in the sanctuary for all right now it's hidden and you walk in the revelation of god's word the only light is the light that flickers and glimmers from the table on the candle locker yes christ is seen now in revelation he's the christ of the candlesticks but it is not really candles it is lamps it is seven individual lamps it is seven lamps lamps i tell you not candles candles burn all by themselves lamps must be dressed lamps must be attended to lance must be watched over that's why god got mad at eli because eli had grown all in his job he gotten so old until he began to neglect the things of god he forgot to dress the lamps he forgot to add the oil he forgot to trim the whip and it start more smoking than it was burning and we got a lot of folk in here smoking but they ain't you can get old in the ministry you can get routine in the ministry you can go through the motion so long and until it's been a long time since you trimmed the lab you haven't noticed that the wall has run low you didn't realize that tonight like every other night might have been a cold night right around midnight when the cry was made behold the bridegroom that's why you got to always go to church when you get to change because you never know when it's going to go up and if you show up and your all has run out if you show up and your wicks haven't been trimmed if you show up and you're doing more smoking then you're doing burning well you understand me stood there with his chest glimmering [Music] each stone is a tribe everyone is represented everyone is there in place and every time he goes before god he carries the people with him you never let this get old because every time we come in here we carry the people with us i was putting his stuff away one night i had laid his pajamas out he was in one of them strange moods see we had no signals i was his boy but i knew not to get on his nerves when we were together if he opened the newspaper and started reading it it means don't bother me don't even say nothing but if he took the newspaper and put it on his arm that means i want to talk i want to converse it's one thing to serve a leader but it's another to walk so in oneness and agreement with him until he pulls you into his confidence and makes you his friend i became my father's son and i became his little friend when i was laying this stuff out that night i'm really going somewhere if you just follow me mine ain't nothing he has as big as marbles his red stones the coal on it was so glorious each length was so beautiful and wonderful i like that part when i got to pick it up and dream about being a bishop every son dreams about being like his dad that's why it takes a daddy to make a man because every son wants to walk in his father's footsteps yes and i sat there holding it and he looked over his newspaper and caught me looking at us and i was polishing it and i looked at him and i said maybe one day i get to have one maybe one day i'll buy one boy you can't buy that well yeah i know i ain't got no money i know i know it all the money this cause i never could buy now but maybe you know i'm just 28. maybe before i die i'll make enough money that i can buy one boy you can't buy that what do you mean i can't buy it i'll there you go you don't cut me down you try to make like i'll never be nothing i never can't afford a piece of jewelry no no no no son you don't understand money didn't buy that all of my members brought me a piece of gold [Music] they brought their heirlooms like the children of israel did when they came out of egypt they brought what had been in their families for years and years and years they filled their hands and they consecrated it under me for me to become their priest i took it and melted it down and what you have in your hand is the love of all my people what you have in your hand is the hopes and dreams of all my people and whenever i put it around my neck i carry them with me whenever i go into prayer i can't finish a prayer without including them in the conversation and when i get answers from me i get answers for them most prayers boy i answered unspokenness it's just before the lord and do you understand when i stand before god they are before god and when god receives me he receives us thus you understand the breastplate when god received the high priest he received every israeli every hebrew man woman boy girl every child them that gave sucked in the breast he received all of them the priest did it and in that breastplate was not only every one of them in their place sickness couldn't remove them hard times couldn't remove problems couldn't remove them even death couldn't remove them it is recorded in revelation that god begins to number his children 12 000 and he begins to come down the line from tribe to tribe 12 times 12 making 144 000 they are always in place and whether you make it to a service or not you are seen in the eyes of god we're all here we're all sitting here we're all ready to receive our portion and whatever god has for one he has fall i'm about to go to another level with this now underneath that breast plate was a pocket in the pocket with two stones the two stones were called the urene and thumamine now this is a peculiar thing i hope god will anoint me to tell us before god anointed the high priest they had the oracle of god they would go to the preacher the prophet to receive a word from the lord when moses began to dress aaron in the garments of the priesthood god was removing the witness from the mouth of the prophet to the very heart and rest of the high priest for god didn't intend for the man to be the mouthpiece for him god wanted to speak for himself and he deposited over in the bosom the pocket of the high priest two white stones called the urene and the thuming these stones were called the lights of perfection whenever god wanted to express his will a high priest would go before the presence of god before the holy altar and he would reach into his bosom and pull forth the stones or the lights of perfection if the lights remain black and dull no but when the lights lit up yes have you ever prayed and even before the manifestation came down on the inside in your bosom a click something happened something connected something let you know that the prayer was answered even before you seen the results you had the lights in your bosom you had the connection god spoke for himself we're gonna walk with god a long time we we don't look for outward symbols whenever we do something we wait for the light to come on we we wait for god to speak for himself i wish y'all talked back to me not only was that there a speaking god we have underneath the e-pod a curious girdle and belt he's wild knitting he's girded up with it it confines him it constrains him he compels him it forces him to keep his mind focused and to continue his work of all he takes the mounds of snowy white linen moses takes the costly businesses you don't know what it is to have white linen in the midst of a desert white linen wrapped fall upon foe around his head until it becomes a turban blue lace is put up on the front of it and a golden plate is fascinating to it and upon this is the words holiness unto the lord this has been the steps of investigation help me say it invest stature it means to invest with power and authority before he put this on he was a model man but with this on he is not merely a man he has now become the man of god aaron now stands as he represents christ in his all-surpassing beauty as the man of god no wonder god declares that the priest can have no imperfections he cannot be broken footed he cannot be maimed blind or crooked back to flat nose but he's got to be perfect in all and symmetrical in all of his physical appearance because he is to represent christ this whole sermon is to remind us is that we represent christ that's why the standards for the ministry are so hard because we represent christ that's why the standards are like they are because we represent [Applause] that's why we can't run our wives down the street with an axe because we represent [Applause] that's why we can't be selfish and stingy and tight wanted because we represent that's why we can't be reluctant to worship god and reluctant to minister to the people because we represent [Applause] that's why we can't grow born with the service of the lord because we represent and that's why we can't quit that's why we can't give it up that's why we do it whether we get paid or not because we represent who came not to do his own will but to do the will of him and the finish the work because somebody said we got to finish the work yeah i'm gonna preach but i'd preach a whole lot better if you'd help me preach see amends to the preacher is like gravy to the beef steak and i don't care how tough that beefsteak is if you can make up a good gravy [Applause] got so much here so much here to say one more thing and i'm gonna take off god holds his priest to special accountability he scrutinizes with righteous zeal all who exercise authority in holy office especially those who are called to minister at his heavenly altar god puts a man in office and entrusts him to govern the affairs of his fellow men he puts more stringent demands on him he holds him with an even tighter reign to whom much is given the same much is required it is through the priest now that the covenant community will be moved in the will of god it is through the priests now that they will become the conscience of the nation they will become the pattern and the template by whom the minds of the masses will be molded it is through the priests that god will model what he wants every israelite to be because he is continually in the public eye and wields so much influence over men's behavior it is of a necessity that we must practice what we preach remember brethren it is not politicians but it is the hands of the pulpit that molds the destiny of our nation jewish priest was an exalted officer the high priest was the highest position that any man ever held on earth no man had the preeminence of this great god symbolizing man no one could quite equal him that is why people are so devastated when their minister falls cause in their eyes no one ever quite equals him he supplants the father in the eyes of every child he even replaces the husband in the eyes of a wife he is the world's hero he's a daddy forever fatherless child he's a friendly ear when no one seems to understand he's a kind helping hand when the world is thrust you away no one really can estimate the influence of the pulpit and no one can be as dejected as when you see your preacher fall he is the center of the mosaic sacrificial system it is through him the people have access to god and it's through his ministrations that god sends forth his favors back to his people he is to be the interpreter of the divine will to the twelve tribes of israel and the well-being of the whole nation is now leaning on him i got to say it yes i i teach the other part but i need to teach this part i teach the part about the ringing ringing bears i don't understand god is just awesome i don't understand that i don't understand with without the aid of a pitchfork without without the aid of any assistance that moses had every bell perfectly in tune with the other bed and the same man didn't work on each bell but each man when he finished his bail his bell was ringing in perfect harmony with every other bell so the whole sense is is that as the priest began to minister before the altar of the lord he provided his own music he provided his own melody he provided his own hymn he didn't have anybody struggling and fighting against his program because the whole church was in harmony with him we need to give bishop patterson some bail we need to let him know that you don't have to make this bear the lord have anointed me to fix my belt to be in tune with every other person in the church and bishop just go about your work and we're going to harmonize right we go [Applause] i preach that problem i'll preach that father i preached that part well where israel stands on the porch and listens for the ringing of the beds i can't remind preachers enough that there's nothing worse than a passenger's wife squabbling over the congregation there's nothing worse to the members to see the elders and the pastors squabbling with the bishop they standing on the porch and listening for the ring they want to hear harmonize it they want to hear melody they want to hear the bell the sound of agreement they didn't come to see us fuss and fight they don't enjoy us turning the pulpit into a battlefield and taking the word of god and slicing and dicing and cutting one another up it might be going over their head but they know something not quite kosher you ever went into a room where they were frying fish you didn't see the fish but you could you could and you can tell when folk don't love one another you you can tell when something's off you you can tell when folk is at each other's [Music] [Applause] we're gonna lose our members if we don't quit fighting on sunday we don't quit fussing on sunday they don't talk hell all week long when they get to church they want to be blessed they want to be lifted up they don't need you to tell them to go to hell they know they're going to hell they come to church to see if there's a way out is there a way to get out of the mess that i am we need to start preaching be healed be delivered and be sick so now i'm gonna preach i said no dad i didn't got old i ain't going home telling no gravy jelly just um at the end no i'm not tuning up that's why this sermon is hard to preach because it ain't a regular circle it's to get us together judgment begins at the house of god if the judgment begins with us where's the other sinner in the ungodly appear man we need to hear more ringing we need to hear more ringing than the general board we need to hear more ringing than the ball of bishops you don't need to go there to fight the program or you can get up and philosophize and use your 50 words but i still know you fighting the leader i really don't want your opinion didn't vote for you know how i voted for him people want to know what he thinks and the people want to see us working with his program you see that we if we're going to win the super bowl and we're going to score the touchdown we got to quit caring who catch the ball who run the ball who throw the block so long as the team wins we got to get like them folk in basketball until you give as much credit to a man for giving you an assist as you do when you make the point you got to get so that you don't care and you got to be the kind of person that roots from the from the bench just waiting on your number to be called i looked at television another night john sally was on there and he's got five five championship rings he got five of them he didn't start one time never scored over 12 points in any game but he's a champion because he knew how to ring in harmony with everybody else on the team you're really not that important we can really go on without you you need to quit walking around here talk about i'm gonna just go home cause you can go home the church will still go it was going for you got here it'll be going when you're gone the church don't owe you nothing it's a privilege to serve [Applause] can i finish my point not only is the ringing of the bell but there's the pomegranates the pomegranate suggests the fruit of the spirit because you ain't gonna get in harmony unless you possess the fruit of the spirit and it ain't it ain't fruits of the spirit is the fruit of the spirit and we need to start working on the fruit because when god gives you love he gives you meekness kindness gentleness patience he gives you faith he gives you long suffering and self-control he gives you all of them he gives you all of them some of our fruit is a little dwarfed there's a little shrunk you know i used to have a any well you didn't grow up in the hood but i grew i'm a ghetto rat you know in the hood we had a we and i you know i live in the room and house and there was a little pad tree next to the house and it used to give this little shriveled up fruit look green never got yellow when it did get yellow it was full of worms it was hard and green all the year well the reason why is because the tree it was a big old three-story house almost and the tree was taller than the house if the person who owned the house had took more care cutting it back and trimming it down the fruit would have got big it wasn't designed to be a shade tree it was designed to be a and the reason why the lord put so many afflictions in our life and the reason why the lord puts us in so many trying situations the reason why the lord is always doing something to us as he empties us from vessel to vessel it's cause he don't want so many leaves he want more fruit and the lord had to spray us down with with some bug killer so the worms don't come in and ruin the fruit because a whole lot of y'all got fruit but every time you bite into it it makes you sick you ever make these things that look good till you get to know them and then they just make you make you wish you never had even i can't get no amen but that ain't why i did that i won't tell this part [Applause] this is bishop patterson's part you see what he tells me he said son you have to understand is that when the priest was see you ain't never got to fight no preacher you ain't you never got to worry about you know he'd say if if he ain't a good preacher you can pray a good one in and you can pray a bad one out you never have to worry about a preacher because jesus said the stars is in mine anytime a preacher got to go before god you don't have to worry about him getting straight god had a system that when a preacher wouldn't do right and he came before him that's why he put them bales down there if the bells quit ringing that mean the man was dead that mean pull him out there and next okay okay next man we gonna put somebody else now bishop me and you never discussed this but i'm going to tell you what they told me as a little boy they told me in chicago when the great father died i won't call no name but y'all been around know what i'm talking about when great fathers die and son had did a terrible thing and wound up in jail somebody suggested that we give the son the church it was right hold on we ain't gonna give him the church his record is too bad we're gonna put so-and-so so they had an election in and put so-and-so in he got in and he died somebody in the back say i think we need to make the son the pastor oh no we ain't gonna put him in the church we don't want we don't want no ex-con we don't want no kind of fella in this church this is a holy church when they put somebody else up and they had an election and he got in and he died died real quick too i mean he's quick filming he can hardly drown appointment paper and dead put another one up bale stopped ringing he did after they went through three or four of them i just a little boy i hope i got it right finally they tried to put the the next fella about the full one he said uh uh i think we need to go to the penitentiary and we need to get that son that's a you know dad told me that his son ought to get this church anyhow and i vote for him you know if god stopped doing some of us the way he did ancient israel we would have so much arguing for these top spots if god would just have an anonymized and sapphire service if he just used the same clean out policy that he had for his priest if you put the wrong one in i'm gonna kill him till you get to the right one i wish i had amen and that's what i wanted you to know is that these bells wrong to let this man know that he was being accepted by god and i want you to know that god has put certain indices in our spirit certain things in our spirit i want you to know that you don't have to you don't have to wait like some folk to be taken out of order you know that you've been put out of office a long time eli knew that he was being put out of office even before the lord called samuel oh you didn't thought you thought i lost my place i started out talking about eli had a whole lot of smoking and not much burning and the lord woke him up and said you almost let the lamp go out and because you haven't been dutiful to your job i'm gonna get rid of you and i'm calling somebody else i can't get no amens yet i don't want nobody to take my place hello somebody so i'm gonna make be very careful in this leadership conference that i work on my own week that i make sure i got plenty oil in my lap and i'm doing more burning than i'm doing smoking [Applause] two pair of grass and we walk out he was not the king he was more than the king he was not the prophet more than the prophet he didn't belong to men at all he was god's man neither could he symbolize christ decline in decaying with moral deficiencies he must be the perfect man the consummate man symmetrical in all his members perfect physical specimen now it gets good not crooked not crooked we got a whole lot of crooked preachers you got to get a battery of lawyers to come to an agreement but i find that when you get even when you get a battery of lawyers these slippery folk can slip out of any country i remember the man from illinois sent for me to come to milwaukee he came in as he did told me to sit down i sat down he said boy i hear you trying to build a church over there i said yes sir he said i'm what you need i say i need oh we don't spend about a million and a half i need another million to finish he said i'm gonna give you a million dollars here's my hand he shook my hand and it was over when you a man of god you got to have integrity you got to say what you mean and you got to mean and people got to be able to take your word to the bank when you stand and say you with the leader when you say you with the program when you say you with the church then you got to be with the church whether you gonna be in front of it or not you can't be crooked he can't be maimed see jesus came to set at liberty those that were bruised and i'm telling you right now if you want to be blessed get away from bruce folks get away from wounded folk because wounded folk is so full of hurt so full of pain so full of hate until they'll fill you with hurt pain and hate see when you bruise a fruit you got to hurry up and deal with it or it's going to ruin that's why i love what fd bishop washington said he said that if we're gonna have for verbs either god's gonna have to pull you down or god's gonna have to pick you up when god pulled you down and picked you up god's gonna have to peel you off and when he peel you off he's gonna have to slice you open and take the coil out and cut away the bad and leave the good because if you're gonna have preserves you can't have preserved with nothing but the good hello somebody and then he put his hands out like that and say but wait you ain't got preserves yet if you're gonna have preserved you got to get a pot on the fire you got to put the fire under it and the sugar over it and when the fire under it draw the sugar in it then you got this church got a way of bruising you and you have to congenially stay before the lord and allow the spirit to cut you open and cut the bad and leave the good when you get through cutting it ain't much left but what's left is fit to preserve you understand what i'm saying joseph wasn't fit to be the prince in the palace until he had cast into the pit and then spent some time in potiphar's house and then went to the prison if the butler hadn't forgot if the baker hadn't forgotten the butler the bait the butler wouldn't have remembered it but it took all of the pit the palace and the prison to the pit the porterford's house and the palace to make the prison to make the palace and his word to his brethren is instructive he tells his brethren i've learned through all these changes i've gone through and all this hurt i've had that although you meant it for evil god i see now it was god that wanted me in the pit because i learned something and he cut something out of me it was god that had me lied on in qualifier's house and he cut some more out of me it was god that put me in the prison and he cut some more out of me and what's left was fit to be preserved and now you meant it for evil but god meant it for good [Applause] now we go through the requirements in case you don't think i'm talking about you did the old testament ministers carry the ark on their shoulders through the sandy desert so we supposed to carry the gospel to the ends of the world the world is not going to be saved through television it's going to be served by us who go into all the world did the priests had to belong to aaron's family before he could minister so you got to be born again and be a part of the family of god hello somebody did he actually have to possess sonship and pedigree so you have to possess sonship you have to receive the spirit of adoption whereby it calls our father before you can minister to the lord what is the priest's duty to blow the trumpet so it's your duty to lift up your voice like a trumpet and show the people their transgression in the house of jacob their sin it is our duty not to give an uncertain sound but to declare the whole council of god was the priest to take off his garments i'm going to talk about the flat nose i'm going to get this thing real good aaron was not wonderful tell somebody aaron was not wonderful what he put on made him wonderful aaron did wrong he did it wrong he messed up and because he did god declared kill him death went to season and every time death tried to seize it he couldn't do nothing with him report it back to god i can't kill him oh oh yeah yeah yeah no you can't kill him because he got those garments on what you do is tell moses i say strip it and when moses is stripping see the anointing ain't in him the anointing is in his vestments and when i pull that anointing on you off he'll be just like any other man and aaron died when god takes his anointing off of you you are no different than anybody else saul he told saul i'm sick of you when you was little in your own eyes i worked with you but you didn't got to be mr big stuff and because you rejected my word i rejected you and the same night that god drove saul from the throne he was he was drawing david to take his place i don't know about you but i don't want nobody to take my place the same sun that melts butter is hard than clay the same anointing that's anointing one person is leaving somebody else i'm getting ready to finish this the first person who could not come before god as a priest was a blind man said somebody say are you blind you know a blind man he never knows which way to go he's always got to ask somebody what he ought to do you got a lot of blind preachers sit up and hear the bishop preach sit up and hear the instruction go on and sit here and act like we whip the program and go right out to the coffee shop and then ask somebody else which way should i go the lord don't want any leader who can't see the truth who don't know the truth and if he's blind he cannot serve before the lord just somebody say a lame man this scripture is to me and all of us we got to always remember that just because the lord anoints us to preach that don't mean we given special grace and we don't have to live what we preach a lame man will not walk right if you gonna be a preacher of this gospel you're gonna have to live what you preach you can't keep people together all day lives and then in your old age get rid of your wife cause she got rid of hello somebody you can't ride your secretary around and take her to aruba put her in a new benz and your wife is driving a four or five year old used car if you gonna be god's man you're gonna have to walk and walk right i mean you're gonna have to walk right so people see you walking right you're gonna have to walk until the people can see now that's right he doing that right you're gonna have to treat your children in a way that people see is right see when you're walking right everybody can see that's right you can't be right in your own eyes you can't judge yourself you got to let the folks judge you sometimes the folk leave the church because they sick of the pastor's mess hello somebody lame preachers and we can preach great texts but we're still lame we're still walking with a limp hello somebody i love mr clean but when i met mr clean he was talking about glory i didn't know gloria but i knew her before i met her because everything was about glory the lord reminded me that i met diane at the holy convocation 35 years ago and when clean hears from me he still want to hear about diane it wouldn't be quite right if diane wasn't at my side i can't jump up here and try to whitewash my wickedness and make like it's all right when it's wrong i got to be upright i've got to walk well i didn't hit another rock uh-huh then there's the flat nose preacher tell somebody say you know a flat nose preacher a flat nose preacher his smell or don't work he can't sniff out false doctrine he gets caught up in a whole lot of unsavory stuff some of these situations you ought to sniff them out before you got caught up in it and when your nose don't work see when [Applause] i used to know an evangelist called mills he's one of the reasons why i went to moody he told me about his experiences in the foreign field evangelist meals told me that when you go to the foreign field you have no way of knowing who cooked what you eat you have no way of knowing even what it is because sometimes they set something before you and you have to eat it by faith he said but the unerring indicator of what you can take in and what you can't take in is your nose he say in the foreign field you will die right away if you don't smell it first before you eat it you got a whole lot of dead ministries because the preacher didn't smell it first before he served it to the folks tell somebody it's time to smell some of this stuff i got a boy that just got out of rima the folk thing he can out preach me he's a great expositor but the folk ain't following him and all of his newfangled ideas they really waiting on me because they know i'm gonna smell it first before i eat it i wish i had somebody talk back to me well broken foot tell somebody now we got some broken footing folks some folks do all right as long as they crutches around but when the crutches gone they can't hardly make it some focus here tonight because they crutch can you know a person with a broken foot the crutch get there then then he get there it's a whole lot of us that's dependent on other folks you cannot really do god's will until you learn how to stand on the rock and don't care what comes what goals my heart is fixed and my mind is made up look somebody now say i got a made-up mind [Applause] [Music] the last one and i'm gonna close this is bishop patterson's favorite one every time we preach a sermon he and i preach it back and forth then he'd take over on this one he started laughing he said and that last fellow he's the worst one of all he's a dwarf it's a whole lot of big titles but they spiritual pigments they stun it they eeny weenie t90 folks you in trouble as a leader when you got to have all the applause all your praise you got to have all the light on you you don't know how to congratulate nobody you don't know how to say thank you to nobody you can't appreciate nobody you don't want to hear nobody preach and you want everybody to fall out on your preaching you are spiritual dwarf you're a spiritual dwarf when you think when you come to a meeting that you don't need to receive something anything that's given out all the time has got to receive something in so you have something to give out i'm gonna tell you something we are in danger of become bigger on the outside than we are with our god i want to always be great in the law i would travel with the fathers of the church they wasn't just big titles see there's a whole lot of people trying to be big and little eating them up all the time but they wasn't just titles these men really love the lord bishop w.a patterson really loved the lord j.o patterson really loved the lord the fathers that made us what we are that prayed us out they went to church because they didn't want to go nowhere else they were really great in the lord and they saw you becoming even before you became they would prophesy over you and tell you what you were going to do if you just stay with god they weren't spiritual dwarves they were giants we got to be so big until we see another generation coming on and instead of trying to kill them out we encourage them all we tell them i brought it this far and you can take it the rest of the way i thank god for gilbert e patterson because he's taken the church to the next level he's opened the door for young men and said come on i brought it this far now you can take it the rest of the way [Applause] [Music] everybody stand stand nobody leaving nobody's leaving we're gonna dismiss you in just a few moments but we've heard from heaven tonight we've heard a word from the lord bishop walter bogan was anointed and you know every message is not designed to send us running down the aisles and jumping and dancing if we never danced again church of god in christ we're not behind in our dancing but we really need to hear and order our steps according to god's word just before we shall go some of you i know have already picked up your purses and all but put them back in the seat i want you to turn to one somebody catch them by both of their hands i don't know of any greater way for us to let this message settled in our heart other than to offer a prayer one for another this is leadership conference yes there are some laypersons here who may not be leading anybody but for the most part we are here either bishops on the national level leading the worldwide body of bishops on the jurisdictional level on down to the district superintendents and pastors supervisors missionaries sunday school teachers choir directors but we are leading somebody and so much of what he said appeals to everybody we teach more about who we are than by what we say hallelujah and he emphasized that point that god does not want us lame he wants people who will walk right don't want people with crooked backs you want people that are straight up that what you say is what you mean what you mean is what you say take a moment and let's just pray with that individual whose hand you're holding ask god to make them you don't have to ask him nothing for you because they are praying for you hallelujah oh shout out to hoshanah god reach out we thank you for your word your word that came as a measuring rod to show us where we are and where we need to be you've spoken to us on the eve of this conference hey we're gonna go home another way we're gonna go home renewed and refreshed [Music] thank you for your word thank you lord that you spoke to my spirit tonight hey hallelujah hallelujah bless these leaders everyone oh god some who are grappling with problems and they don't know how to handle them but give us the answer that's in your word for your word is the answer your word holds the answer to every crisis all of the crises that we face hallelujah shine thank you jesus thank you jesus thank you thank you open our hearts let the breastplate be upon our heart that we will not discard the truths of your word that our hearts will be opened hey thank you jesus thank you ah glory to jesus now come on and give the lord praise hallelujah thank you jesus bless your holy name bless the main blessed today bless the name yesterday hallelujah [Applause]
