Job Search Mindset Insights by Brock Boyd

Hi everybody, Brock Boyd, CMI, and today I'm talking to opportunity seekers who are actively seeking a new opportunity about your mindset when starting the process. It is critical to have the right mindset because without that, everything else that you do, even if you do it right, it's going to be built on a weak foundation. So I'm not going to say it's pointless to go about a job search without the right mindset, but you're certainly going to have a whole lot more success if you have the optimal mindset.

So the optimal mindset means having a A positive attitude sounds a little too cliche, so I'm going to say positive framing about your career experiences, and especially prior bosses and prior companies. I made a video about this before, so you can check that out, which is positive framing. And that is a critical component, if not the critical component. Another piece of the most important element of mindset is a proactive mindset.

So that means you're not going to just plan on applying to jobs and calling it a day and assume that that gets the job done. You're going to take any and all extra steps that you can to increase the odds that you get initial conversations going, which is really the whole point of the exercise. And then third is a pipeline mindset, which means basically you're not going to find one or two jobs that look ideal for you and apply to those and call it a day. You're going to find as many positions as you can that look roughly like what you want to be doing or what would be of interest to you.

and try to apply to and get interviews going with all of them. You're in a much better position if you find yourself interviewing with a handful of companies at the same time than if you're interviewing with just one company and it's the opportunity that's your dream job and dream company. You're going to interview with a whole lot more confidence if you have a pipeline of other opportunities that you're exploring at the same time. So that's it for now. Happy hunting.

Talk to you soon.
