okay this type of sentence with the possessive is the best way of learning this because it's going to help you get a grasp on all these relationships okay entonces Elisa tiene uh Corbin Gabe and Charlotte see I remember their names uh Corbin he actually just graduated high school so this is a really old picture of him uh Gabe I think he's in 10th or 11th grade now and Charlotte she attends the University of Michigan uh in Ann Arbor Michigan so Corbin Gabe and Charlotte yo soy El hermano de sumadre is sobrinos okay Miss Padres Son Los Padres de su madre Miss Padres ah Miss Padres son los Elena Savannah and Caitlin I got the names Elena Savannah and Caitlin okay the Amber sobrinos remember sobrinos includes everyone but if they're just girls sobrinas what is the relationship to each other they are Primos see okay going further looking at this new part Amber Sue esposo as Sam Samus my brother-in-law Esme cunado what's his relationship with my parents Miss Padres de Sam you Sam Sam SL yerno elierno de Mis Padres yarno son-in-law yerno this one's weird because the feminine form of yarno is nuera nuera daughter-in-lawerno uh but for his parents my sister would be there nuera to his parents that one just goes masculine feminineva okay let me fix how this looks real fast all right I want you guys to pause the video and fill in the blanks with the correct vocab word so here's most of our vocab words over here um there's a lot that I didn't go through because my family isn't as complicated but there are additional words like stepbrother and monastro uh stepson which would be the child of your wife or the child of your husband which would be your dad's wife and then Medio hermano when you have one parent in common but not both parents doesn't parents it's anybody in the family Los parientes like relatives El Perro El Primo El Tio all right but go through and put in the correct vocab word so pause the video real quick put this make sure this is in your notes and then we'll continue on all right let's go through these uh Mi Abuelo SL Padre Madre misorino SL hijo de Mi hermana Mi Padre SL esposo de mi madre Madre Mi cunada es la esposa De Mi Hermano Mi padrastro SL Padre mano uh IMI Prima ASLA Sabrina Padre right my cousin is the niece of my father see I'll make sure you guys are studying this vocab this vocab is going to come in really important for both project two and for the oral interview in a few weeks um just additional family vocab estar Casado to be married yo estoy Casado Yost divorcedo to be dead so you could say me Abuelo my grandfather Mi Abuelo esta muerto um if you have a boyfriend what you say in Spanish is estoy de novio right I'm going out with someone it's the way they know of you uh you can also just say tengo novio tengo novio estoy de novio I'm physically alone estoy soltero I'm single uh adoptado adopted matrimonial egalitario right for same-sex marriage and La Union legal see just additional vocab all right I want you guys to go through and answer these questions so you're indicating if these are Seattle true or falso false so for each one look at the image and try to determine if it's true or false and then we'll go through this together make sure you pause the video If you're not done yet but let's go through these together Juan Carlos little guy down here Juan Carlos tiene dos primas no also tiene Dos Primos right primas would indicate that they're both female it's not true he has a Primo and a prima so we could say falso Pedro y Elena falso tienen Cinco they're five grandchildren single Thomas no Thomas right he doesn't have children Maria itomas son cunados see I'm assuming that these three guys that look very similar are brothers and so she's the wife of Jorge Las posa de Jorge that makes her la cunada de Tomas so they are siblings-in-law conyados in La Familia see see uh Pedro Pedro es el suegro de Jorge they look exactly the same I think that's his dad is right uh Pedro es el suegro they Anna Maria SI perono padre de Jorge escena she's her daughter-in-law nuera daughter-in-law I don't see the fish uh so no fossil fishy fish uh a common mistake that people make pescado isn't a fish pescado is fish that you're about to eat it's fish that's been removed from water uh when it's still in the water though it's not pescalo it's just peace sierto de Pedro es Jorge right I'm gonna go with no I think he's a son right falso I don't think Pedro has a yet or no because he just had a bunch of boys and so they all married well these two married girls okay all right here we're just gonna write a sentence using ser to describe the relationship between these people so yo media yo soy El sobrino right I'm the nephew of my aunt me Abuelo Mi Padre Mi Abuelo es el padre de Mi Padre right my grandfather is my father's father so we're practicing those possessive Day phrases uh what I want you guys to do is to write out these sentences into your notes and then I'll go over them with you uh in a moment just pause the video write out those sentences and we'll be right back hopefully you guys have had a chance to answer these I wrote them all in um by definition you would have to be El Nieto the grandson the same as me yo soy El Nieto Nieto foreign nephew me Madre es la abuela de mi hijo Mi Primo SL sobrino no just another way of saying Madre mama Mi Padre SL so this could be two ways right if it's my mom's mom then he would be yarno right son-in-law if it's his mom he would be son if it's his mom or yarno if it's her mom Abuela me Dio SL padre de Mi Primo but what if he wasn't his father what if it was one of my other uncles then you'd be Tio right Mi Padre esposo de mi madre Mi Abuela theoretically I think it wants islamade but if she were my mom's mom she would become his Suegra all right four family vocab it is really important for you guys to study not only the relationships but get used to expressing relationships between the relationships I would not study swagra mother-in-law I would study oh la Suegra es la Madre de la esposa right one way is going to get you really comfortable with expressing these in Spanish if you're wasting time going from English to Spanish though you're just making things harder on yourself so I would write out those Day phrases for everything and I would make it complicated I would go ah media is right my aunt is the daughter of my my grandparent see uh that'll get you really comfortable with the relationships just my suggestion all right
