  1. Front of the Bag (Left to Right)

    • Oral thermometer
    • Rectal thermometer

  2. Right Side of the Bag (Rear to Front)

    • Test shoe
    • Test tube holder
    • Medicine dropper
    • Alcohol lamp (with denatured alcohol)
    • Match

    • Medicine glass
    • Suction
    • Baby scale
  4. Back Part of the Bag

    • Solutions needed:
      • Benedict solution
      • Lysol
      • Boric acid
      • Hydrogen peroxide
      • Alcohol
      • Beta dye solution
      • Spirit of ammonia (or Kananai white flower)

      • Kelly curve

Preparing for Medical Hand Washing

  1. Take out the necessary items from the bag:
    • Soap dish lining
    • Apron
    • Hand towel
  2. Locate a washing area and perform medical hand washing.
    • Use soap and dry hands with hand towel.
    • Leave towel and soap dish in the washing area.

Nursing Procedure: Urine Testing

Preparation for Urine Collection

  1. Take out materials needed for urine testing:
    • Test shoe
    • Test tube holder
    • Lamp
    • Matches
    • Benedict solution
    • Specimen bottle
    • Plastic bag for trash
    • Clean gloves
    • Waste receptacle
  2. Instruct the patient to void and collect a stream urine sample.

Performing the Test

  1. After obtaining the specimen, prepare the test tube:
    • Place 5cc of Benedict solution in the test tube.
    • Add 8-10 drops of urine using a separate medicine dropper.
  2. Light the lamp and heat the sample until bubbles appear.
  3. Results Interpretation:
    • Clear blue or green: Negative (no sugar)
    • Green with yellow precipitate: Trace amount
    • Yellow to green with yellow precipitate: Low sugar
    • Muddy orange with yellow precipitate: Moderate sugar
    • Orange to red precipitate: Large amount of sugar

Post-Testing Cleanup

  1. Clean all materials used during the testing.
  2. Dispose of gloves and trash properly.
  3. Return all materials to the station bag according to the pre-established arrangement.

Final Steps

  1. Close the bag securely.
  2. Record the visit and findings in the patient's chart.
