Hey guys, I'm Artageek and in this video I have an awesome unboxing and hands-on look of the latest Backbone for the PlayStation remote feature. This is PlayStation certified there. This was already available for iOS, which was also playstation verified but it was only for iphones so this just came out it this is will work with android devices it also works with google play store games that are compatible with controls as well and not only can you use it for playstation you can also use it for game pass so if you are into game pass cloud gaming and you have both system the playstation and the xbox this is the one for you because you can play on both worlds uh so this i'll show you guys the unboxing you got some features here and different languages there and over here in the front you see the phone with the controller android playstation logo let's go and take this out of course i already did play this and test it i put put it back in the box that way you guys can see uh what's in the box the box is pretty cool because it's kind of soft and it has the backbone branded right there it's pretty cool and that's it this is what you get in the inside you're going to get this application there which um you're going to have to of course just open up the camera of your phone uh click right there boom you go to scan it and it's going to take you to the okay right now it took me to the application because the application is already installed but it would normally take you to the Play Store that way you can download the game the Play Store application there and that's it you continue with the settings so this one take this out nothing else here in the back you have like instructions on how to put it on that's it and that is it you check this out and there's nothing else in the inside just a manual and different language as well and how to use the device okay this is very simple to use which is awesome and also what's cool I love the color it's not completely white look at the white here look at the white here it's more like almost grayish a very very very very light grayish color looks very cool I like how it looks the controls everything feels really nice everything feels really nice even the thumbsticks they feel so nice to use the triggers are also really good as well bumpers they feel really good as well a little bit like you see a little bit too soft in my opinion but when you're playing they actually respond pretty good and the d-pad is actually pretty nice and solid they're very well constructed and you have the other buttons right here which is this is the backbone app button launcher and you got the the settings and these are basically the controls that you get like on the controllers for the xbox and playstation and this right here is going to be used to take pictures and videos here you also have a 3.5 millimeter jack so if you want to use your headphones while gaming you can use it right there and if you want to charge your phone while you're playing with the backbone you just plug in the the port uh the cable right there usbc and it charges your phone so the reason there's no cable in there is because this has no battery whatsoever this does not work in bluetooth this is only powered by the battery of your phone that is it now keep in mind i have the z Fold 3 the Pixel 7 Pro i believe and it works with almost any device but it would be very dangerous if you try to hook up this to the device here because of the way this is designed see this is flat then it curved flat then it curves so it's meant to actually put the phone there and it actually is holding the phone there right so this since this is flat this would be not entering completely the usbc port right there and also since the usbc port is on this side uh you would actually be playing like that you know the full screen is going to the bottom instead of the top so it would be an awkward way to actually play using this on your backbone so yeah it does work the only way it really would work if you connect the USB C over here and cook it up here then yes it can work so here to put it on we're gonna put it right here right and you go right there make sure actually hooks up right there And that's it.
That's how I hook up. So once you connect it, it will recognize right away that the backbone is connected and it'll give you the options to actually go forward. Now, one thing that I am a little bit worried because this is the first time I. have a backbone i've had so many other controllers for you know for the mobile devices if you've been on my channel you know that that's what i do right so i have this right here which is i believe this is the uh gameser x3 type c controller uh this is for android devices and it also uses just the usbc port right but one cool thing about this is that this like you see that the usbc is actually flexible right it's actually flexible so no matter the thickness of the phone or the way you actually put it on right it's not going to damage the usbc port or this right it's not going to damage it but one thing about this that I don't like is the USB-C there's no wiggle whatsoever this is stuck there no movement whatsoever so if your phone is too thick it's not gonna fit it's not gonna fit and it has a rubber in the bottom but I don't I believe you can't take it off to make it a little bit more wider so in other words if you have a case on your phone take it off okay take it off and I don't know why they did it like this because not every phone is the same thickness.
Let's go hook it up. okay hook it up right there boom and voila it connects right let's go ahead continue so right now you're going to be able to choose either continue with google or apple i'm going to choose google i'm going to choose my account the first time you hook it up you're going to go through in a very cool instruction where you're going to set it up you're going to set up your account you're going to set up emojis you're going to set up a username as well because this has like a an online community so you're gonna set up a whole bunch of stuff right and then when you do so when you're finished you're gonna end up right here so like you see that i have a username right there when i tap on it you can see your username you can see the emoji that you chose i believe you can still customize it if you want so you gotta choose i could choose the color you know of the background of the you know of the emoji you could change your name if you want And that's it. You save changes, go back, so on, so on. You have this right here, has settings, your account, you got user information, logout, controller, says right here, can play on any screen. And you have here the option to hook up to another device.
So like I said, you can use it on Google Chrome, PC, Mac, and iPad. But when you're going to hook it up to these devices, you have to use it wired. okay so you have to use it for example here you have a picture of the iPad you have to use it wired that's the way it actually works with every other device okay so you got controller quick shortcut this quick shortcut right here lets you for example tap right there right and now if I double tap this it will open the PlayStation app you got calibration you can calibrate the controllers here has calibration there you can see them cool type again let's go exit this awesome factor reset help tutorial tutorial and all that and about there you go that's how cool it works one thing that I loved about this is the way it feels and behaves when you have the app with the controller and the phone it actually feels like you're using a damn console it's like you're using a console with your phone or your phone turns into a console when you have the backbone that is something really really cool so these applications that you see here is actually recognized by the application so these are applications that I have on my phone see I got these two games a plague of tail Rick him that's because I played it on game pass so it recognizes that I played that that game and it leaves the logo there you got a PlayStation app you got the Xbox game pass remote play you got a vampire survivor these are games that are in my library look at that I still have stadia rest in peace so right here for example Xbox game pass you want to hook up to it right well of course you're gonna have to hook up to your account and that's it look at that now you got the option to play your cloud games here pick off where you left off on you your council.
and you can play there the only thing is that you're going to be using the buttons from playstation on xbox games that's the only thing about it so if you don't like that i guess you're not going to like using this controller you have the playstation you got all the applications so all these games that you see here are compatible with the controller that's something that i like that it knows that these games like even call of duty mobile is compatible and playable with the controllers with the backbone uh rocket league and grand theft auto so here if i tap here don't see your game that's because these games that i have installed are not compatible with the backbone so that's something i really like so it shows you the games that are compatible and the games that are not compatible with the backbone and here you can actually send a request so hey guys can you please make it compatible with the backbone controller please So you could do that right there. So that's really cool that it recognizes that. Now, other than that, these are all your stuff.
You can go through what's new. And what's new is actually going to show you guys like highlights for the controller. If there was a showcase, it's going to show you the showcase right there.
Whatever, it's basically whatever is new in the gaming world. You're going to have highlights right there. That is freaking awesome.
That's why I like it. It feels like this is. a console look at that so you got play popular on backbone that's awesome you got what to play ways to play and you got free to play so it has different categories that's thanks to the application which is awesome of course one thing that you want to see right is how it works with the playstation right so let's go this is game pass this is bump bump this is the playstation app this is the remote play app for xbox and let's go and look for the okay there you go remote play load it up we're gonna choose our console of course you have to be hooked up to your playstation account so the first time you connect look at that connect it right away so the first time you connect it's gonna ask you for username and all that now of course just like on the playstation vita have you played this before on the playstation via remote play keep in mind your playstation has to be on standby or rest mode it cannot be off because if it's off it can't turn on and they can't find the PlayStation through the network okay it works on your Wi-Fi the best but if you have one if you have 5g good speed 5g good coverage it will also work as well of course and of course the experience that you're gonna get here it depends on your internet so if your internet sucks the gameplay here is actually gonna suck so that's for those that are new to um playstation remote or xbox remote it's the same rules applied to everything if you're playing remote remote means that you're playing games from your console okay not cloud gaming not cloud gaming playing video games from your console that means that your internet has to be good oh crap Can I strike this sucker over here? Yeah baby So you see that I have good connection here, that's awesome, and I've used you know Love this survivor.
Love it. Oh yeah look at that I got a skill point. I love Jedi survivor one of my favorite games of the year.
There you go. so like you see that you got good speed that's because i'm in the house with the console of course another recommendation would be is to have your playstation connected via cable on your you know on your network that would be a good recommendation to actually do that and that way your PlayStation will be on the network okay let me see if I can network and it would have a better experience so it is recommended to actually have it like that way Look at that. Oh yeah. Nice.
Beautiful. So yeah, that's one thing that I truly would recommend is that your console is connected to the network. That way when you're connecting off the network, where you have wired or remote played, it actually has a very... very good connection.
Believe me, guys, I've used PlayStation Remote from away from home, and it works. It really works if you have a good connection. If you don't have a good connection, it's not going to work. One time, I remember I was in Miami. My console was in El Paso, and I was playing from the airport all night on my PlayStation Vita.
via remote play that was awesome and it worked because i had good wi-fi and my playstation was connected to the network so it does work it doesn't matter where you're at as long as you're connected to a very good connection so the only thing is make sure when you're playing remote play remember you cannot switch physical games here so whatever games you're going to be able to play here is whatever game you have on your system and whatever digital game you have you in your system so yeah look it works pretty cool you know sony just announced the playstation q which is not i believe it's not the official name uh but that thing will only be supposedly right now as i'm making this video that thing is only supposed to be playing be able to play remote play if you have game pass you will not be able to play with the queue those platforms and most likely it's going to be more than a hundred dollars this Goes for $100 or less if it's on sale. So that's pretty cool. And like you saw right there, you can actually play. Look at this. Right now I switched to Savage Planet, something like that.
And dude, it just works awesome. It works really, really good. And if you want to quit, tap right there, right?
Go here, put it here. If you want to turn it off, make sure you tap again. Tap there.
And remember, always rest mode. Do not turn off. Because if you turn it off, you're screwed. And if you're not at home, you're screwed. So make sure you rest mode.
And it will put your PlayStation 5 in resting mode. And that's it. that's all you got to do and this you go back here and look at that you can actually play here choose any other game so if you have like a game here like call of duty mobile you could go ahead it has a tutorial there letting you know that You need to go through the tutorial before you actually can use the controls. I love the build quality of it. I love how it is designed.
Look at that. It even has the PlayStation logo here in the back, which I didn't see yesterday. It's really cool.
