Definition of Nouns

  • Noun: A naming word.
  • Abstract: Something that exists as an idea, feeling, or quality, not as a material object that you can touch.

What is an Abstract Noun?

  • Abstract Noun: A type of noun that exists but cannot be physically touched.
  • Represents:
    • Quality
    • State
    • Feeling
    • Emotion
    • Idea
  • Examples: Love, Hate, Sadness, Happiness.

Characteristics of Abstract Nouns

  • Cannot be seen, heard, tasted, felt, or smelled.
  • Do not require capital letters.
  • Represent abstract concepts.
