Caro-Kann Defense Strategies and Tips

right everybody back with another game facing uh 1850 rated opponent going to be Carol conning and uh yeah silly me but I have never heard of that country anyways uh yeah I'm going to be cting at the point goes for the U exchange variation so um as usual three main options to push to take or to protect the pawn he decides to take I'm going to be recapturing with the pawn always and this already creates a pretty interesting imbalance in the position where white has the semiopen E file and we have semiopen C file this is already an indicator that okay white is going to have a bit of a superiority on this side so he'll try to attack our King and we should try to attack them where we have our own open file so on the queen side and um as a quick way to get started uh okay we're going to develop Knights on natural squares and um if he plays C3 I'd like to start with the bishop he plays H3 denying me that option I'm just going to develop the other Knight and he's probably going to go C3 or Knight F3 all right this is a very interesting uh kind of tical position because uh by the way white is playing notice he's trying to uh really Target our light Square Bishop uh saying that okay Bishop G4 not an option Bishop F5 not an option I mean do we have to just lock it in most people end up locking their Bishop but uh you don't have to all right um I recommend you go G6 idea to play for Bishop to F5 on the next move just solving the issue of the light Square Bishop uh additionally if you like to play with an isolated Pawn uh the E5 move is also playable it's also equalizing but I normally just prefer G6 I find it easier to play with Bishop F5 and okay interesting decision for him whether to take or not to take in general I would recommend uh for white players to just ignore and Castle because taking yeah it looks like you're doubling up Black's pawns but this is very dangerous I mean especially when he castles uh yeah you're going to notice that uh these pawns are actually not weak at all because we can connect them and they are nicely defending each other uh the pawn on F5 it's double but it's reinforcing uh control over a very important cental square plus Rook G8 it's already uh spying on the uh enemy King so that is why I love the caroan so much and I really recommend it if you're like u a beginner let's say you're just 1,000 ELO or even lower the caroan is such a nice opening because it's like you're putting yourself uh in a bunker and then uh yeah I mean you just uh attack from there it's like you're playing a video game uh you just uh send in a drone let's say and you have to control it um maybe that was not like the best analogy of uh of all time but you get the point um yeah Rook G8 just uh yeah as they say weding clothed armor at the pajama party it's kind of like what the caroan feels like and he plays G3 I'm just going to do E6 open up the bishop so what's very important to notice is that we play G6 mainly to uh prepare that Bishop on to F5 move we don't necessarily play it to fiano the bishop is going to be a bit restricted over there thanks to this block of Pawns so instead of this which would be passive Bishop we got on to this trying to exchange um opponent's bishop and looking for uh in a good day to sacrifice on G3 with a knight that is kind of the ideal strategy uh obviously the plan would be to cast along double up Rooks on the G file and go Knight E4 Knight takes on G3 because uh with the pawn on H3 you know let's say if he had Pawn on H2 it was more difficult but like this G3 is very soft and okay he goes Knight E5 which is normal move um I'm not going to take even though taking I guess works I'm going to do a typical way to develop the queen while also fighting for the E5 square and expecting Knight h on C6 I think also expecting Rook E1 those are the two main moves that I see him playing here on Knight C6 I'm debating whether to take on F4 or to take the Knight I feel like taking on F4 is probably better yeah that must be better we're already threatening to sacrifice on G3 and mate I was actually hyping the structure in one of the previous videos where my opponent uh simply refused to enter this now was saying that oh it's so great for black you want a l Castle you want to play for mate you should do it but I'm actually super glad that we get to show it in this game um cuz now we get to clarify those ideas okay he play Rook e one now castling is the safe route we just have to do a bit of calculation Castle Knight C6 Bishop F4 he takes my Rook I have Bishop takes on G3 can he avoid Checkmate maybe King F1 not so easy to calculate so I'm not going to like dive into the rabbit hole too much alternative is Knight E4 so centralizing and putting pressure on the E5 Square the only drawback on Knight E4 is that uh it allows Queen H5 CU we no longer control that square after we move the Knight does that matter I think we just take twice on E5 so it shouldn't yeah going for it Knight C6 just same idea as uh before take on F4 interm medo that is why it's so nice to get the Rook uh in touch with the Enemy King oh um just such a difficult almost unplayable position for my opponent cuz uh you get the uh Rock Solid Knight plus you can never really get rid of it cuz F3 allows Knight takes on G3 it's really I mean yeah what can I say if you're getting uh caught into this structure as white even if you're like a very strong player it's very easy to lose uh simply because uh blacks play so incredibly easy you can autopilot Rock Solid they have no really anything to play for um yeah I remember back in the days as white uh as you know one E4 player and I think maybe somebody did this against me I just felt like so disgusting disgusted that's how I felt but the line in itself is pretty disgusting this Pawn structure is just really strong and um you saw how you can turn one of the biggest issues in the Caro like uh he was trying to mess with our Li Square Bishop now it's actually very pleasant to play uh okay Queen A4 good try I'll give him that so his argument is that we cannot go Knight E5 due to to the pin and if Bishop takes on E5 he just takes with a bishop which yeah that would give us no followup all right I mean this is not easy to deal with because Knight C6 I will no longer have Bishop takes on F4 cuz he's going to have a discovery check or maybe it's not going to matter I don't know A6 B5 is like first instinct trying to break the pin but A6 he can take um do I have Bishop takes on F4 he moves the Knight then have B5 yeah maybe actually that just solves it in a funny but very efficient way A6 Knight C6 and then I take and then I play B5 wherever the Knight goes it's important that his Knight cannot really Fork my queen yeah this is I bet he was not expecting this move cuz if he returns I have B5 that was the whole uh spill what is he going to do he's just uh yeah now he's just doomed I would say he's probably going to be losing a Pawn on E5 that's probably the Lesser evil for him otherwise allowing some Bishop G3 is just uh yeah life sentence for the enemy King expecting Knight D5 and then B5 Queen C2 something like this I guess the game is going to go but then I take one E5 twice and I'm going to be up a pawn with uh yeah ideas to still sacrifice on G3 so yet again I I I just cannot uh stop from hyping the kukan just uh so solid so easy to play so easy to blueprint like your opponents are always uh super predictable that's the difference let's say if you compare it to the Sicilian Defense because you can think of it as okay maybe Sicilian Defense is a bit more Dynamic you can use it more frequently to play for a win yeah but in Sicilian Defense they have like lines everything is kind of on the edge risky so yeah it's playable but it's much more difficult to learn kukan you have three main lines exchange advance and classical yeah he goes for a discovery check B5 and notice just how effortlessly yeah you can just wipe the floor with um 1850 rated opponents and you can do this like regularly it's not like my opponent played poorly or anything I think uh if anything he played a very decent game it's just that um the structure he got himself to it's weird it's kind of unexpectedly good for us let's say okay so Queen D1 I can take twice clean extra Pawn do I have like anything sexy over there I take twice King F1 and then it gets messy I don't think we really should do such mess also Knight F2 Bishop G3 it's messy okay just going to take this way opening up quin's path um yeah I think maybe less Ral quein D4 try to exchange Queens uh important detail he cannot do F3 utilizing this spin because F3 uh yeah just makes the G3 Pawn undefended so we can take and then uh Checkmate him on the very next move and uh yeah night2 would actually uh allow a pretty nice idea so we can try to pause the video and think about it for a minute take your time don't rush but it's a very thematic idea a nice way to finish this off um so the point on Knight D2 is that you have Rook G3 and if FG Queen G3 if King H1 you mate with a knight and if King F1 you mate on F2 with a queen so yeah he plays uh Queen E2 kind of fighting against that uh or does it really so let's do the calculation takes uh Queen takes he cannot do queen G2 cuz that loses The Rook so King H1 also is not the move because of Knight F2 that wins the queen at least so he basically has to play King F1 there we can narrow this to only one option but problem is king of one is a pretty good option I don't really see how to break through so yeah okay sacrificing The Rook is a bit extreme like normally you do the sacrifice with the Knight but here we're pinned that's the issue so we can consider a move like uh Queen C7 you know unpinning and then threatening to take with a knight that's perhaps simplest and I think I'm going to go for it uh is he time to De to develop Knight E2 have Knight G3 let's do the calculation Pawn takes Queen takes yeah King F1 I'm mayting him on G1 and King H joh I have uh Queen H3 he has Queen H2 and then I see no mate yeah so maybe we should try to make a move that uh plays against his uh idea so you see we tried direct win there is no direct win we should try to play prophylactic so we know he wants uh Knight D2 how can we stop that we can stop it by perhaps playing more aggressive right away with F4 F4 forces G4 yeah but then it's not that simple we're not going to have that many attackers on G4 okay what am I missing maybe we could do uh Rook G3 and calculate a bit deeper cuz it really feels like there should be something how about we go Queen F4 he's going to have to play like King G2 let's say and then maybe we can just long castle and the threat of going Rook G8 is maybe just devastating yeah okay I'm going to go for it he just feels like this should be such a completely winning position that uh we should go for it we're going to have basically Queen Knight and Rook against the king and queen I feel like intuitively we just have way too many attackers cuz these pieces are completely out of the game so yeah the point was to give a check to keep his King onto the edge and then we long Castle I don't think it really matters you could also do king up as long as you bring the Rook it should be fine uh yeah I don't think his Queen could ever like really rate I might do king D7 is like the safest uh Square for the king yeah I'm just thinking of a scenario where if we long Castle a queen can check on C5 but that's maybe science fiction I'm just thinking he goes there yeah and was looking at here so I have Queen G3 like Perpetual check if I want it so generally whenever you have Perpetual check um there's usually more and we can also claim a draw if needed but King D7 how is he defending we have two minutes to figure it out um can he try like Rook G1 then we have Rook G8 King H1 and then uh we can at least win the queen wait Knight F2 but there should be better now I'm just going to King D7 there's no need to claim the repetition yeah this is like such a beautiful execution I feel like cuz um it wasn't super obvious but um we kind of logi our way into it because um yeah our opponent was under so much pressure yeah it really I could have really use that as an indicator to make life difficult for him cuz I couldn't find a way to stop Knight D2 but also this combination is a bit prophylactic in its way as well because Knight D2 is never a move cuz we could also take but the main reason is that I was threatening this but now as it happens usually when you attack he just collapses faster so this move wins the queen at least is it better to do Knight F2 I think no just no need to overthink it play Simple pick up the queen go Rook G8 and then mate him easily yeah Rook G8 and then mate on G1 it's going to happen bang and here and he doesn't get to finish development just the power of the caroan bro I'm telling you if you're not playing the caroan I don't know what you're doing with your life but this was really one of the juiciest games that I've had in a while let's look at it Queen E2 yeah Rook G3 so see computer also it's not very obvious ah okay okay you see what I'm saying so my thinking process was right I said we should look for a way to stop Knight D2 I didn't see that during the game but apparently I just had the simple move Queen F4 and that's just a very problematic for white because he cannot finish developing uh the Knight if he plays Knight A3 the Knight is misplayed so my thinking process was really on point there like that's how you should think in general like look for direct win if there is no direct win try to stop your opponent's idea but yeah Rook G3 was just even better I think I couldn't see really a way for him to defend yeah wait why is not King D7 mate in 15 No it should be it's just glitching King D7 and he's getting mated it's completely lost you can see here on the bar uh oh okay that was pretty nice so remember opponent tries to uh kill your light Square Bishop keep this uh G6 uh Bishop F5 idea in the pocket and uh you will never have a bad light Square Bishop again so with that being said I think we can move on to the following game do you know what's almost as annoying as people that fall asleep while ordering at your local kiosk well it is when white is able to get a knight on E5 supported by uh two pawns because whenever you try to get rid of it they're able to take with the F Pawn opening up The Rook that normally uh ends up uh into a maing attack so uh this is going to be the problem of the next game Let's Dive Right In back in the office 18 uh almost 1900 opponent from Honduras and he plays F4 okay F4 is an interesting subv variation of the advance normally cuz we play kokan and then they normally uh I was about to say they normally push but uh this guy had a different idea okay uh I not super sure of this this is not normally how they play the uh exchange variation um so yeah to be honest it's uh it's not how they normally play but it's not very easy to refute so um okay what's the matter with this as we can uh see white is getting a bit of a stone or Pawn structure meaning that he's going to get very good control over the E5 square and he has pretty easy plan now just don't let him put the Knight on E5 so go Bishop G4 and Bishop E2 look he's just unpinning so he can go there just deny him that option even not waiting for H3 as normal so I'm just going to do it here I think this is the easiest way to kind of shut down this type of setup so um interesting play by my opponent but I think this should be fine there Knight F6 E6 and Bishop D6 um also could have mentioned that maybe we had the uh alternative of uh considering a setup with Knight on E7 maybe that was also an option but I just went for um that I played a bit by hand going to go Bishop D6 and queen goes to C7 okay Knight A3 um Knight A3 interesting possession and interesting decision as well cuz Knight A3 normally you just do A6 to stop any Knight B5 and you can play Queen C7 without losing the bishop there after Knight B5 that is one of the main ideas however can I actually take and give him some uh yeah not so pretty pawns that would be a fascinating position where my opponent has uh the bishop here but both Bishops are pretty restrict so okay let's go for it this is just going to give us a strategical uh yeah winning position already because he has backward Pawn Plus double isolated pawns so um yeah if we manage to play uh Rook C8 B6 Knight A5 we should be able to win this just like that because he's not in time U to generate uh any attack okay he has just uh Gone Bishop E2 now what do you guys think is the idea with Bishop E2 is he just randomly moving back the bishop well the point is Bishop was really restricted staring into this Pawn so his plan is to go Bishop D3 and then uh do some Rook lift try to get an attack so uh you can pause the video and think uh about the potential way to uh stop this attack before it even started let's say CU after Bishop E2 the drawback of Bishop F3 is that it no longer covers that square so I think we can activate and it also comes with a Tempo so yes we want to go uh quinide play but also uh you should not be ignoring your opponent's ideas very important um okay we B there so is he threatening F5 I could play F5 but I'm also wondering if he ever wants to do C4 CU if the answer is yes I could try to stop that with Knight A5 fixing the backward Pawn but I'm just like not sure what if F5 can I just ignore that and play Rook C8 or maybe some Queen G5 kind of move attacking the pawn yeah so I think for white it would be clever to try something like C4 open up the position for the bishop and exchange one of his weak pawns so for that reason I'm going to try to really play against that Knight A5 stopping C4 and if Bishop D3 trying to take and then um give me double pawns at least we're going to get it uh this way we're going to open up the Rook as well so yeah now I think we manage to shut down his play see I mentioned he wants to Rook lift but without this bishop it's not going to be any effective so we just have to focus on uh attacking the weakness right now which is the backward Pawn on C3 so Rook C8 already maybe forting to take or playing Knight C4 yeah Rook H3 he's getting ready to bring the queen but uh we can easily Dodge that attack with H6 I can also play G6 stop the queen from coming whatsoever uh that could be interpretated but I'm going to do it I'm going to be a blocker here and I'm not going to give him any uh any nonsense so come on opponent attack me now this was a pretty fast-paced game so I may have rushed through the ideas a bit but you can see a clear example where um we have um two type of types of advantages so us as black we are playing for uh long-term Advantage which is uh long-term weakness backward Pawn on C3 plus double isolated pawns while my opponent he's trying to play for a quick initiative sure if the quick initiative Works um you're going to win but if not you're completely doomed for the rest of the game uh and seems to be the case here for my opponent I'm going to do Knight C4 now improving uhu the worst piece that I had the Knight on the edge no need to to think about collecting uh right now um just improve your pieces and okay interesting decision what do you recapture with pause the video and think about it for a little bit you basically have a 50/50 chance of getting it right so fingers crossed um the point is to uh avoid taking with a pawn even though that gives you D5 Square for the queen it's much more important to have open file to pressure the backward Pawn um the point with the backward Pawn is that uh it cannot really be protected by any other pawns um and yeah by definition is just like an upside down Turtle that's what I like to call it so the backward Pawn is there we'll just have to attack it and we're going to win it slowly plus then there are also these targets uh nearby so it's a city of weak pawns over there it's like a whole Community okay Queen E3 just um active move I guess now I think Queen C7 normally when you have uh the backward Pawn you want to do a triple stack onto the pawn so Queen C7 Rook C8 the only drawback however if we are ever trying to collect it is that uh we're not going to have the powerful knight anymore so I'm not sure that we want to trade this gorgeous Knight that can never really be um traded off by the dark Square Bishop because it's a dark Square bishop and the Knight is on a light Square so maybe I'm just thinking the M the more important weakness could start being the enemy Bishop so a move like Queen B6 could be very strong yeah I'm going for it Queen B6 and then Rook C8 okay Rook B1 uh yeah I think uh uh you can feel free to pause the video and try to find the winning blow because Queen to B6 I think was very clever way of highlighting the fact that Bishop does not have many squares because Bishop C1 there is simply Rook C3 and Rook B1 is natural way to defend but okay problem is that the Rook is undefended and pinned so for that reason it enables uh Rook takes on C3 if Bishop takes I mean voila we just won the game and we managed to win the pawn by uh keeping this lovely Knight so notied his position was indeed full of weaknesses but you don't want to give that uh E4 Knight away for cheap now that would be a big waste uh in that position uh okay so he goes Queen to E1 now that allows me to take on H3 and double up his pawns oh man this is going to be like such a horrific spawn structure that my opponent is getting look at this so he has one two three four Pawn Islands against on Lio so normally who has less Pawn islands is better from a structural point of view now all of his pawns are isolated on top of that uh this means uh we're going to be able to easily collect uh his pawns into the end game and I'm just going to now uh play a simple move okay we can take this as an examp SI and post the video what do you play Simple decision and very strong move by far the best move and uh you have no idea how many players uh yeah Miss such things on a regular basis because they would like get Sidetrack by attacking this Pawn or something instead of playing Rook C8 Rook on open file yeah whenever you can it's only open file on the board um yeah even with uh equal pieces controlling the only open file on the board can be a winning Advantage he goes for a little trick he wants to uh say hello to my queen I think I will say pass onto that I'm going to S side step and I want to give my queen ideas to infiltrate on the light squares okay Bishop B4 now uh pause the video again very important uh move that's very simple and requires no calculation um yeah just super strong strong fundamental decision in general as I say that I'm not so sure but generally yito is the winning move however I'm looking at maybe Queen H4 trying to check me could be a little bit annoying so is it better to start Queen D3 Rook D1 and then Queen to F3 yeah I think that's better so the problem is that Rook C2 Queen H4 he may get some perpet ideas I have G5 but then still Queen H5 or something so no I'm just going to infiltrate like this threatening uh to take with check expecting some Rook D1 maybe then I go to F3 still the threat uh it's as well um whenever I infiltrate it's going to be made plays Rook B3 but uh yeah he forgets uh that the main idea was uh what you want to take the pawn with a check as well he might try to block with a queen and uh try and survive into the upcoming uh end game but yeah no he ends up hiding in the corner uh okay position completely winning just uh you don't want to move this KN randomly to allow uh such things but I think we should just be able to infiltrate and Knight F2 Knight G4 it's probably going to be checkmate with checks in the near future so very important fundamental rule Rook on the second rank usually best uh place for The Rook Knight F2 big threat come on opponent what is he going to do I don't I think he has a way out of this because Queen E3 also could allow a back ranker the position is a little bit messy but our King is ultra safe he has absolutely no threats at this point you can even uh start trading all the pieces and that's going to be an easy win so I can still do Knight F2 but then ah he wants Rook F2 and if I take with the queen he wants counter playay all right so I'm going to do queen B2 instead same coin concept attacking on the second rank just notice this is like perfect picture of uh why attacking on the second rank is actually so effective also threatening Rook C1 so only move for him Queen G1 but then uh we should have at the very least Knight F2 winning exchange and he no longer has the queen E6 idea that was the problem in the previous line we're threatening to take and M G2 yeah so he finds it and Rook C1 doesn't win yet because of Rook F1 but Knight F2 should be yeah should be decent enough to convert this without any tricks now last nail in the coffin should happen on the light squares so yeah he plays H4 but too slow now quinito threatening both uh made on F3 and Rook F1 so okay wow uh overall I would say uh we had everything under control but yeah I I'm still kind of in shock just thinking of how many Pawn weaknesses my opponent had um but yeah this is pretty simple and okay Knight A5 best move I'm actually really proud about this find because it's all it all comes down to these simple fundamentals with the risk of sounding like a broken record white wants to do C4 white wants to get rid of the backward Pawn backward Pawn is almost like a lost Pawn already so he wants to exchange it no Knight A5 saying you're not going to go anywhere Bishop D3 support the Knight and then Rook C8 fix the backward Point forever and then really like the toughest moment in the game was uh going for this queen B6 idea yeah and now on Rook B1 he instantly allowed that and the rest was easy so remember everybody you see opponent trying to get this annoying Stonewall Knight on E5 just um deny him that option take on F3 and uh the game should be pretty easy so um with that being said I think we can move on to the following game right there everybody we're back with another kokan game facing 2,000 rated opponent whose name is uh Minaj th and that sounds like French to me but he's apparently from Indonesia maybe that's something in Indonesian that I don't know about so we're just going to be going for the Gan um expecting him to take on D5 whenever the uh Knight F3 uh move happens and uh that is going to be leading to The Exchange variation he could also push which is going to give us into um Advanced variation territory where I recommend you go for Bishop to G4 get the bishop outside the pawn chain first and only then go for E6 C5 uh and Knight C6 pressuring the pawn but no he goes D3 all right wow this is super meta like this is how they play the caran at the top level nowadays inviting black to take and go for this end game uh okay I'm GNA say no to that and uh I'm GNA do my little exploit against this uh line so I recommend G6 in my uh chable course the idea being that okay why is fiano bad in general it can be bad when white has strong Center and uh he can utilize that Central domination to uh transition into an attack against your king now with Pawn on D3 of course there is no such Central domination cuz you need have these pawns like Advanced let's say so for that we can totally get away with the fiano and U I think it's also a very nice way to get the white players uh out of their uh comfort zone so um yeah goes for the fiano still I'm like not interested in the end game and uh okay this is going to be a little bit weird and maybe that's normal for these videos but we're going to go Knight H6 there's a little bit of a hidden idea behind that so the point is if we were to play a normal move Knight F6 that gives our opponent uh the option of expanding with E5 D4 so I don't want to let him get better control over the center so the point is to Castle and then I want to go F6 Knight F7 Pawn to E5 and this way uh we were a able to um yeah just have much better Central Central control than him imagine let's say he goes normally they play like knight2 F6 Rook E1 Knight F7 D4 something something and then you just play E5 and after d e f e d CD you're the one that's left with two points in the center and congrats you're just better now he went for the trade which uh definitely I think helps us a little bit we get the open file and uh yeah we get a bit of a clear Target and not to mention we could still use the same plan you know what I'm going to go for it Knight F7 E5 is on the cards Knight F7 E5 what is he going to do about it let's see opponent Minaj at what are you going to do about that okay Bishop F4 okay we're going to show them how to play the car can in Indonesia going to go Knight F7 and then Rook E8 maybe even oh no I can actually play E5 on the next move regardless and the rookie is going to be very useful on the file just in case whenever he takes my rookie instantly opens up so okay can we push he takes I take he takes I take he takes I take yeah that sounds about right looks like we just have uh more Defenders I did a little bit of of calculation trust me I'm a pro I'm a pro uh yeah well here we have it this is the center that I was kind of hyping earlier that's why we play this kind of weird Knight on the edge followed by F6 do not do that in general okay is just an exploit on the D3 line so when white refuses to take the center this is uh how I like to punish them so yeah he goes Bishop to E3 m interesting I could continue just energetic play E4 he probably goes Knight to D4 then I could maybe finally activate the F7 Knight yeah that sounds about right I'm going to do it what else I mean just uh Knight goes to E5 and then Bishop G4 comes with Tempo I see no reason why not to do that yeah Knight here this move next perhaps light squares are pretty soft will he play h 3 trying to stop Bishop G4 also Knight to D3 could be knocking at his door yeah I don't know it's just very difficult Knight D3 also double attack and in case of Rook E2 I can do Bishop G4 pinning I think my opponent is in a bit of trouble like it started in a bit of a passive looking way for us but uh yeah okay Knight takes on C6 the situation really turned around uh but uh feel free to pause the video and think about what is the best way to recapture very important uh fundamental decision because uh you really want to capture with the pawn because that's going to improve the control on the center this one is a bit soft on D5 and now yeah our Pawn chain is very solid uh we also keep the active Knight we also keep Bishop G4 idea Knight A3 just uh yeah Knight really not doing uh much on uh that side to be honest yeah uh my instinct was the bishop G4 Knight F3 but maybe it's already time to consider Knight D3 right away because Knight E3 he cannot play Rook E2 due to Bishop G4 problem as we mentioned but what do we want do we want to play for mate or for pawns that's the question which one should it should be better so let's see Bishop G4 right he goes I don't know Queen somewhere maybe A4 Let's see we go Knight F3 Bishop takes Bishop takes Queen takes on C6 okay that's a little bit messy no I'm going to go for simple play if there is no uh obvious way to play for the mate uh well yeah I already gave him a friendly warning Knight D3 was just winning a pawn by force he allows this and uh okay I have simple move to take with a rook collect clean Pawn now do I have ef ef allows Queen D3 the Knight remains undefended but then I can collect the Rook that looks like winning the jackpot EF can he do something else what am I missing can he play like Rook to no then I I take but then he takes my Bishop but no if I take Rook D2 F2 wins the queen okay I mean so many tempting things I just feel like a kid that has entered Legoland or something like that I mean just so many good moves can I do Rook F3 could also take so many things I'm just going to play the simplest I don't know I don't want to make it messy I'm just going to collect like the pawn and then like bring all the heavy pieces onto the open file just keep it simple the Knight on D3 is giving him nightmares that is just so brutal to live with that is just uh such an annoying Knight to have um yeah about to play Queen F6 and then Queen F6 already is going to be uh packed with a pretty surprising idea so maybe you guys can try to pause the video and um think about uh what's the hidden point with Queen F6 because if you're not careful you can easily get hit by Rook takes on E3 Rook takes on E3 and then Queen F2 picking up the Rook yeah he goes Bishop to D4 in a way uh he saves that Bishop but I feel like we can totally just go for the trade give him an isolated pawn and um yeah I mean I'm going to do what I mentioned Queen F6 now this time coming with a Tempo preparing uh rook f8 and just very simple play see that I tried uh to really uh prioritize risk management in that situation and I didn't uh plan to go greedy that's usually the way to go wrong from such situation no you want to have at least one extra opponent um try to keep uh control over the possession as much as you can really there's nothing more um important in chess than um keeping the control even if some people call you control freak that's just on them okay there's nothing wrong with you for sure uh or at least Le that's what my therapist tells me uh anyways just resigned and we managed to get a pretty effortless win against the 2000 look who made it this far into the video well for the final game I'm going to show you a method that you can use on how to deal with gambits not only in the caroan but in general without having to like really know much Fury whatsoever it's just going to be the mindset and then you're going to be able to um come up easily with the moves yourself so uh let me show you what I've got all right everybody long time no caroan and uh we're actually playing against an uh Irish opponent I like Irish coffee I don't know about Irish opponents but uh his name is the safety pin and he plays Knight C3 on the car uh three main ways to handle this taking advance or protecting the pawn now uh normally this is kind of a common misconception about beginners they tend to uh forget about playing this move sometimes but it's a very natural and strong move cuz you want to destroy White's strong Center so we take and uh oh he plays even Bishop C4 he's hitting me with a Gambit all right Mr Safety pin I got to take this thing seriously now um yeah just a quick mention on Knight take C4 I would have inde did have gone for the Tata cover with Knight F6 and then always taking with the E Pawn but uh on the Gambit yeah I think we're just going to develop this Knight kingside Knight getting one move closer to castling short normally as black uh you always tend to Castle long you don't want to be I mean you always want to Castle short you don't want to be a nauy boy and go onto the long side and on F3 okay taking is definitely playable accepting the gambe that's normally best computer move but in my opinion almost as good uh it's to do E3 this move in general it's kind of like uh yeah uh giving him a fake phone number so to say because uh he's so excited he's approaching us with this Gambit we're just going E3 and uh it's not going to be such an exciting game from his perspective we're just going to have a solid position we don't need to have that extra opponent now just getting the bishop out before playing E6 so important I really want to Castle Shir badly but I don't want to play E6 and lock the bishop inside the pawn chain uh that would be a pretty grave error I mean in this position because he has F3 probably even uh this was fine according to the computer but uh yeah generally you never block this bishop unless you have to so Bishop F5 getting it uh out seeing the light of the day Bishop from the square can almost hear the birds singing in the morning while my opponent probably not having his best time might as well have just uh gotten outside and ordered a Guinness because by not accepting the Gambit we're definitely killing their fun um okay wow he played D5 that Guinness is already starting to kick in uh D5 is not the best move because um he is not focusing on development and he is sort of prematurely opening up the position now my first instinct would be to go CD he going to take with a knight and uh okay let's say we trade how about that takes with the queen we trade Queens he takes with the bishop Bishop is uh pointing towards B7 so we're forc to go Knight C6 uh the oppon on C2 is currently hanging so probably he will defend it by castling long I have the move E6 targeting his bishop and yeah I mean that seems to be a fine end game I think I'm just going to go for the simple play and just take what else uh he already had three remove Knight takes on D5 um yeah I can also do Knight C6 let him take so I can take with the pawn opening up the bishop however uh yeah I'm not super sure about that one uh I estimate it to be playable but generally when you allow these double pawns you want to keep the Queens on the board for Dynamics I don't want to give him an endgame uh with uh three against uh two majority because he could be potentially pushing so I'm just going to trade okay he took with a bishop so same idea he wants Bishop B7 I'm just going to block that with a knight and I'm ready to play E6 on the next move um so yeah let's see the biggest issue for my opponent is that the Knight does not have the natural F3 Square which is a consequence of uh having play that uh f three naughty move trying to Gambit me say no to gambits usually if you don't know the reputation move by move just uh you can always avoid so goes Knight E2 I just want to develop and we look for a way to develop with Tempo so E6 opening up Bishop's path targeting this guy um after the trade I would be pretty happy because we uh grab the two Bishops and the bishop a can be uh really big asset in the upcoming end games although uh yeah maybe I have uh underestimated this idea that he can take trade queens and then play Knight D4 targeting both uh the bishop and the pawn huh that's PR sure yeah I think that's interesting for him maybe a actually worse if he finds that um let's see what he'll play if he goes Bishop B3 there's nothing special the bishop is just a little bit restricted on that square by my pawn and I can easily finish development but yeah I think he has to go for it I don't have much of a choice bro KN G3 I'm sorry but at this point uh this is just uh James on Whiskey it's not the Guinness anymore who plays Knight G3 so his point is that if I take he takes the bishop that's right but this guy is playing overly tactical that is for sure yeah that was so not required I was very afraid of the end game imagine he took and then play Knight D4 yeah I'm not sure what I would have played may maybe I would have had to go Pawn to C5 and probably that end game is not that bad but Knight to G3 this guy is playing so tactical it's actually pretty crazy I mean he's playing a Gambit but it's like not required okay I'm just going to go Bishop G6 and say that the Knight on G3 it was a very flashy move indeed I'm going to give him that but um in chest you don't really need to to do that many tricks it's a lot about uh playing natural simple moves and have your pieces optimized the Knight on G3 not sure if optimized it's the right word for it as you can see it's currently quite restricted and uh yeah I'm ready to force an end game pretty much next uh he's probably going to give up the bishop P right now cuz retreating uh doesn't seem uh to be on his menu although you never know you never know Mr Safety pin ig3 took so long for that move to shock me but yeah I'm telling you that's the thing that's the way to deal with such uh aggressive Gambit players just don't uh enter their funny games and uh beat them in the end game Gambit players are normally um yeah the most vulnerable in the end game so Bishop D6 is now a move kind of hinting towards this diagonal because it has been uh made more vulnerable by this F3 move so yeah definitely trading is okay but considering that he might even buy open up this Rook I feel like we could really focus a little bit onto those uh squares onto that diagonal also imagine he probably castles short right I mean maybe he can still play for long Castle but yeah we already have open C file he decides to put his King over there but Bishop D6 overall I think a good move yeah I think for him castling is super risky after Queen C7 he might already have to do something like Bishop F2 but I mean we can at the very least uh Castle short but surprisingly even castling long might be something to consider in that possession okay he took wow okay there's going to be something pretty good in The Possession will opponent go Queeny too come on opponent oh no wow he played Bishop F2 that's actually pretty crazy that's a seek awareness I'm going to give him that all right everybody please feel free to pause the video and imagine he would have played Queen E2 what do you do I think uh we would have probably had the winning move pause the video and think about it oh yeah we would have definitely had a simple move uh we can win with a simple Bishop G3 I don't know why I was thinking uh we have to play Rook takes on H2 uh that was kind of a nice idea as well but it's unnecessary the Knight was actually literally pinned so I take it back Bishop F2 it's not crazy good awareness it was um pretty much the only move available in The Possession okay okay okay okay Queen C7 so following the same idea I got all my pieces uh pressuring H2 okay that's pretty good uh and yeah I think on the next move we have to Long Castle it's just too good to not play we already have the active Rook it would be would be a little bit of a waste going short especially because yeah maybe there is some scenario where he gets Knight E4 and then H4 H5 even and our King can become a bit weak however I'm pretty sure uh that castling short is also reasonable and placing Rooks onto the open file so okay everybody watch out Pro tip ideally whenever you're considering uh how to place your Rooks you want to think about both Rooks in advance so this way you can uh maximize um the potential of your pieces so first you do first thing you do you point out the open files so let's say normally you won't have open H file so let's say Pawn is on H7 these are the open files so it plays Rooks like this so castling and then Rook d8 Rook C8 would be very natural thing and good to do but yeah castling long is fine and already both Rooks will be sitting on open files so that as well is um fine I don't know what this guy is thinking so much about oh I know I know I know I know oh man we may have accidentally prepare the deadly trap maybe that's why he's thinking so much I don't think he's going to Castle short though that would be yeah just staring down the cannon and yeah my opponent just uh dropped his phone on his his face while laying in bed black has a completely winning move so please feel free to pause the video and think about it now we indeed completely winning and yeah it definitely if you're looking for it it has to do with these pieces like these are the most aggressive ones as a tip so Bishop takes on G3 should be winning easily only move Bishop takes because taking with the pawn would lose the rook and then the other Rook unpacked but on Bishop takes here's the catch this is a move that you can easily Miss if you underestimate the power of uh two Rooks against Queen here you win Bishop you win Rook you win Rook yeah this is just a chain reaction right here we just want three pieces with one move that's honestly pretty insane we're going to have two Rooks and one Knight against the queen that's pretty crazy Queen B5 and okay pause the video and find a very stylish way to defend the pawn and also activate your pieces because you can go long Castle bang very Alpha move defending the pawn with long Castle which finnally I've noticed uh quite a lot of big beginners have a bit of a blind spot when it comes to defending a pawn with their own King I guess that happens because for beginners brain uh you don't have on your radar that you know your king that's so important can be used to defend no you got to be used to get the king to work and my opponent resigned wow he didn't let me showcase the power of the two pieces I mean it's just hi ELO 1800 understanding everybody I'm sorry if you just cry that your opponent play till Checkmate get to this level and then they will resign uh yeah I'm obviously just kidding I don't know why this guy resigned probably he was looking for another Guinness thanks everybody for making this point of the video and uh I just wanted to mention something a little bit unrelated to this particular topic but in case you are waiting for my uh
