Beef and Onion Stir-Fry Recipe

  • 4 green onions
    • Cut in the middle to separate white and green parts

    • Green part: Cut into 2-inch sections (use at a different time in cooking)

Garlic and Onion

  • 4 cloves of garlic
    • Crush with a knife, then finely mince
  • 1 onion
    • Cut into large strips and separate layers

Beef

  • Use any cut of beef (cut against the grain)
    • Slice into average thickness (preference for thinner or thicker slices)
  • Marinate beef with:
    • Soy sauce
    • Dark soy sauce
    • Oyster sauce
    • Sugar
    • A little baking soda
    • Cornstarch
    • Add oil and sesame oil after mixing other seasonings

Cooking Process

  1. Preheat Pan
    • Medium-high heat
    • Add a little oil
  2. Cook Onions
    • Add white part of green onion and sliced onion
    • Stir-fry to eliminate raw taste
    • Season with a little sugar and salt
    • Remove from pan once crunchy
  3. Cook Beef
    • Add more oil if needed
    • Add beef to hot pan and spread out
    • Let pan-fry until bottom is slightly browned
    • Stir to flip beef, add minced garlic
    • Stir-fry to mix garlic evenly
    • Cook beef until ~70% done
    • Add rice wine at the edge of the pan
      • Wait for aroma and let wine cook off
  4. Final Steps
    • Add dark soy sauce and oyster sauce
    • Add a little water (since cornstarch was used in marinade)
    • Wait for sauce to thicken
    • Add crushed black pepper
    • Re-add cooked onions to pan
    • Stir to mix everything together
