Steps to Draw a Realistic Water Drop
1. Create a Base Layer
Pencil:
HB
Purpose:
To create a mid-tone background for high contrast details.
Method:
Continuous lines across the area, avoid connecting in the center.
Mix Graphite:
Use toilet paper or similar to blend until smooth.
2. Sketch the Water Drop
Pencil:
H (or HB or any light pencil).
Shape:
Create an irregular circle, not perfect.
3. Add Dark Details
Pencil:
4B
Left Side:
Create a moon shape within the circle, fill black.
Right Side:
Create a moon shape outside the circle, fill black.
Gradient:
From left to center (4B pencil, less pressure towards the center) and vice versa.
4. Blend the Drawing
Tools:
Cotton bud or blending stump.
Method:
Circular motions to blend the gradient smoothly.
5. Add Highlights
Tools:
White Gel Pen or Stick Eraser.
Placement:
Within the water drop and around edges.
Effect:
Gel pen provides more popping highlights.
Example 2: Dripping Water Drop
Adjust Sketch Size:
Make the outline smaller if necessary.
Dark Outline:
Use 4B pencil for the outline, leave space in certain areas.
Details:
Add circles and shapes within the drop.
Gradient:
Left side darker, right side lighter.
Shadow:
On the right side, intense black fading to light.
