babysitting the gods when we do something Pious well no I I mean like doing their bidding you know like you might take orders from your boss or something well if my boss asked me to do something it's usually to do some kind of work when we do something that's toally what kind of work are we helping the gods accomplish okay well it's not exactly like that you see when we do Pious or holy things like prayers or sacrifice we are learning how to please the gods that way the gods are happy with us and they don't go burning our house down or killing our babies youth afro you're just giving me examples again you're not telling me what pety is are you saying that pet is some sort of process where we bargain for what we want by giving the gods what they want yeah kind of that doesn't make sense though the stuff we're asking for is wealth and good fortune and the stuff we're offering them is junk like dead sheep or burning pile of cabbage what are they gain from this honor being honored makes them happy so piety is what makes the gods happy but they don't exactly gain anything from it and it isn't something they love well of course they love it but how can pety be what they like if
