Pengantar

• Diskusi tentang penggunaan passive voice dalam bahasa Inggris.
• Passive voice: kalimat yang subjeknya dikenai pekerjaan.

Konsep Dasar Passive Voice

• Struktur passive voice: to be + verb 3 (V3) + by agent.
  Contoh:
  • Kalimat aktif: "Jenny calls me".
  • Passive voice: "I am called by Jenny".
  • Struktur:
    • I = subjek
    • am = to be
    • called = V3
    • by Jenny = by agent

Penggunaan Passive Voice Berdasarkan Tenses

Simple Tenses

• Present Simple:

  • Struktur: is/am/are + V3
  • Contoh: "Many books are bought"

• Past Simple:

  • Struktur: was/were + V3
  • Contoh: "Many books were bought"

Continuous Tenses

• Present Continuous:

  • Struktur: is/am/are being + V3
  • Contoh: "The material is being prepared by John"

• Past Continuous:

  • Struktur: was/were being + V3
  • Contoh: "The material was being prepared by John"

Perfect Tenses

• Present Perfect:

  • Struktur: has/have been + V3
  • Contoh: "The new bag has been bought"

• Past Perfect:

  • Struktur: had been + V3
  • Contoh: "The new bag had been bought"

Future Tenses

• Future Simple:
  • Struktur: will be + V3
  • Contoh: "The door will be opened by someone"

Ketentuan Penggunaan "by"

• "by" dapat dihilangkan jika:

  • Pelaku tidak diketahui.
  • Pelaku berupa indefinite pronoun (e.g., someone, everyone, etc.).

  Contoh: "Everyone has eaten the food" menjadi "The food has been eaten".

Latihan Passive Voice

1. Contoh Soal 1: "My mother cooks rice"

   • Passive: "Rice is cooked by my mother".

2. Contoh Soal 2: "Dina is calling you"

   • Passive: "You are being called by Dina".

3. Contoh Soal 3: "Someone has stolen my pencil"

   • Passive: "My pencil has been stolen".

4. Contoh Soal 4: "John will meet Vina"

   • Passive: "Vina will be met by John".

5. Contoh Soal 5: "Selly and George have big mango"
