hi I'm no and welcome to the e notes comm video study guide for Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet you know the story it was ancient even in Shakespeare's time people coming to the theatre already knew it and if they didn't a chorus told them at the start of the play that this is a story about two star-crossed lovers two kids who fall in love try to make it work can't and then kill themselves if you're looking for suspense look somewhere else because you won't find it in Romeo and Juliet so if everybody knew what was going to happen why'd they stay three answers all wrapped together like cords in a rope the love the pain the words the love Romeo and Juliet share is so intense it makes them forget other people and it makes them break all the rules they love each other so much that they're willing to die if they can't be together and that's why it hurts it's like watching a train wreck you know they're gonna die but you can't help cry no not Juliet or no not him too and the way Shakespeare pulls is all off the language this is the man who wrote sonnet after sonnet about love and he pours all that poetry into the play and out through the mouths of Romeo and Juliet who poured into each other's ears we're just lucky enough to be present when they say love love love in a million different ways
