How to Draw a Room in One Point Perspective
Introduction
- Instructor: Tom
- Platform: Circle Line Art School on YouTube
- Purpose: Guide beginners to draw a room using one-point perspective
- Key Concept: Two parallel lines converge at a vanishing point on the horizon line
Steps to Draw a Room
Step 1: Draw Horizon and Vanishing Point
- Draw a horizontal line slightly above the middle of the page
- Mark the center of this line with a cross (vanishing point)
- Ensure the vanishing point is on the horizon line
Step 2: Create the Back Wall
- Draw a rectangle for the back wall, centered on the page
- Horizon line should pass through the rectangle, with the vanishing point in the center
Step 3: Draw the Side Walls
- From the vanishing point, draw four lines extending to the corners of the rectangle (back wall)
- Use a ruler for straight lines if needed
Step 4: Add a Door
- Draw a line from the vanishing point towards the left side of the paper
- Draw two vertical lines from this diagonal line to form the door
Step 5: Incorporate a Table
- Draw two lines from the vanishing point towards the viewer to form sides of the table
- Draw two horizontal lines parallel to other horizontal lines for the tabletop
- Draw four table legs as vertical lines (two at front, two at back)
- Add details like thickness to the tabletop and the table legs
Step 6: Draw Floorboards
- Add evenly spaced marks at the base of the back wall (rectangle)
- Draw lines from the vanishing point through these marks to form floorboards
Step 7: Add a Window
- Draw lines from the vanishing point towards the right for the top and bottom of the window
- Use two vertical lines between these diagonals
- Create window thickness by drawing a smaller rectangle within the window
Step 8: Add Details
- Add a door handle to the door
- Erase unnecessary lines on the back wall
- Add a large window using a rectangle and vanishing point for thickness
- Draw a light fixture: start with a vertical line from the ceiling, add a squashed ellipse for the base of the light shade, and complete with two lines forming a triangle
