2. Intermediate Filaments (IFs)
Intermediate size (10 nm in diameter).
Most stable component of the cytoskeleton.
Composed of various proteins, providing structural support.
Types of IFs:
Keratins
: Found in epithelial cells.
Desmin and Vimentin
: Support and regulate muscle cells.
Neurofilaments
: Present in motor neurons.
Lamins
: Help with protein binding and cell stability.

3. Microfilaments
Smallest filament (7 nm in diameter), also called actin filaments.
Composed of actin monomers forming a double helix structure.
ATP powers assembly and function of actin.
Functions:
