Overview
This tutorial provides step-by-step instructions on how to replace the nozzle on a Creality K2 Plus 3D printer, including preparation, removal, installation, and calibration steps.
Tools and Materials Needed
- Creality Unicorn K2 Plus quick swap nozzle kit (with 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8 mm nozzles)
- Thermal grease/thermal paste packet
- Creality toolkit and nozzle removal tool with adapter
- Nozzle case for storing spare/used nozzles
Preparing the Printer
- Move the print head forward for easier access to the nozzle.
- Lower the print bed via screen manual controls if necessary.
- Optionally, remove the tool head cover by pulling and sliding it off for better access.
Removing the Old Nozzle
- Heat the hot end to 200°C using the printer's screen controls.
- Use the Creality toolkit and adapter to unscrew the old nozzle by turning counterclockwise.
- Carefully place the hot nozzle aside on the print bed or in a safe spot, as it will be very hot.
Installing the New Nozzle
- Open the thermal paste packet and apply a small amount to the new nozzle's specified section.
- Place the new nozzle into the tool and insert it gently into the hot end.
- Screw in the new nozzle until it stops, then give a firm final turn to secure it without over-tightening.
- Store the old nozzle in a labeled case for future use.
Reassembling and Calibrating
- Reattach the tool head cover with upward pressure on the cable chain.
- Perform a full calibration (including auto-leveling, belt calibration, cutter calibration, and input shaping) to account for possible changes in nozzle height.
- Once calibration is complete, the printer is ready to use with the new nozzle.
Recommendations
- Handle all parts with care when hot to avoid burns.
- Do not overtighten the new nozzle to prevent damaging the hot end.
- Always run a full calibration after changing the nozzle to ensure print quality.
