How to Push Office 365 Apps to an Endpoint Managed by Intune

Introduction

  • Objective: Show how to push Office 365 apps to an endpoint managed by InTune.

Steps to Push Office 365 Apps

Initial Setup

  1. Login to the Test PC: Verify there are no Office 365 apps installed initially.
  2. Endpoint Manager Navigation:
    • Go to apps on endpoint manager endpoint.microsoft.com.
    • Navigate to all apps.
    • Select add.
    • Choose Microsoft 365 under Windows 10 or later and select.

Configuration

  1. Naming & Visibility:

    • Call it Office 365 apps (or desired name).
    • Option to show in company portal (optional based on usage).
  2. App Selection:

    • Lower number of apps to push for faster setup (e.g., only Microsoft Word).
    • 64-bit version by default.
    • Choose Open document format.
    • Select current Channel to get the latest version.
  3. Additional Settings:

    • Disable shared computer activation if PC is not shared.
    • Accept license on behalf of the user to avoid installation interruption.
    • Optionally disable Microsoft search Bing integration.

Assignment & Deployment

  1. Group Assignment:
    • Assign to a device group rather than individual users for consistent installation across devices.
    • Example: Group MFA containing LT test PC.
  2. Finalize & Deploy:
    • Confirm settings and create the task.
    • Allow time for synchronization and installation.

Monitoring Installation

  • Check Device Install Status: Using Endpoint Manager, confirm the install status.
  • Verification on PC:
    • Search for Word on the PC to confirm successful installation.
