About Us

Key Individuals

  • Dawson Deal

    • Position: ASUN President
    • Background: Junior, first-generation student from Sparks, Nevada. Majoring in Political Science with a minor in Political Communication & Advocacy.
    • Experience: Director of Government Affairs for ASUN, interned with a US Senator and a lobbying firm, works at a local nonprofit.
    • Vision: To remain in Nevada post-graduation, focusing on state policy and politics.
  • Liesel Kemmelmeier

    • Position: ASUN Vice President
    • Background: Junior from Reno, Nevada. Studying Social Research Analytics, Political Science, and International Affairs.
    • Experience: Assistant Director of Government Affairs for ASUN, Vice President of the Nevada Blue Key Honor Society, involved in multiple leadership roles on campus.
    • Vision: Aims to pursue a Masters in Public Administration and Policy, focusing on equitable government initiatives.

Accountability, Transparency, & Collaboration

  • Develop strategic plans.
  • Regular meetings with Senators.
  • Establish new departments for improved communication.
  • Increase transparency with newsletters and surveys.

Accessibility, Diversity, & Inclusion

  • Foster diversity within ASUN leadership.
  • Conduct outreach for underrepresented groups.
  • Advocate for ADA infrastructure improvements.

Community & Student Belonging

  • Promote local businesses and campus traditions.
  • Support Greek Life and increase ASUN Welcome Week attendance.

Career & Academic Readiness

  • Establish an Advisory Board for Professional Development.
  • Promote networking and professional development resources.
  • Increase funding for internships and research opportunities.

  • Establish advisory boards on power-based violence and mental health.
  • Ensure access to mental health resources and campus safety.
