Peach vs Fox Strategy Tips

foreign so Peach versus Fox a very fun matchup if you were to ask me very important matchup to learn Fox being the most common character in the game My take in this matchup is that honestly both sides should treat it pretty patiently from Fox's point of view he needs to look out for uh dangerous openers from Peach such as like down smash Dash attack I can quickly eat a lot of damage uh if you catch him early for Peach's point of view I would say it's important to be also patient fox has the superior speed the superior mobility and a lot of aux players will they will use their gun to their advantage racking up damage from far away uh sometimes without you being able to contest it directly more slowly uh getting closer to them and then trying to work from there but eating some damage in the process so I think it's important for Peach players not to like lose their patience getting you know very eager to attack the soon opportunity they do get and for Fox players yeah playing a bit more patient avoiding Peach big openers so this matchup would say is Fox favorite for sure he dictates the pace of the match uh you kind of need to play on his terms he gets to decide more when engagement uh happens in the matchup uh but with that said Peach still has very strong punishes she can if you're good at it survive for quite long as well so it's not at all that she doesn't stand any chance in the matchup so this matchup when it comes to neutral game for peach I would say especially at lower percentage uh the matchup will be played much more from the ground you want to have access to your crash cancel you want to have access to your dash attack and I want us to look over uh a clip where I think this is a very key scenario for peach so let's look it over and I'll explain uh as we go uh Fox is trying to approach here it goes very very quickly see see Fox he's trying to approach here and quickly Peach is throwing out the dash attack Fox very likely trying to short hop uh approach here uh but the dash attack stuffs it out even if the Nair is like out the same concept can still apply uh so for peach predicting when Fox is gonna attack and counter-attack him with your own Dash attack is extremely good now some people might be wondering but what if Fox was shielding instead if Peach thinks the fox is going to attack with an air you dash attack if Fox thinks that you are gonna Dash attack then you Shield this fox because Dash attack has a lot of end like so for peach what that means is if you mix up your dash attacks nicely with grabs Then You're Gonna Keep the fox player on their toes so if he runs up with shield and you get a grab instead he's also going to be afraid of shielding which ironically is the best way of dealing with a dash attack many times very very important key exchange in this matchup in the neutral game a lot will come down to uh exactly how the players engage in this specific neutral interaction so we just went over the dash attack to beat The Nair the grab to beat the shield another way of playing around in this mix-up that I would say is pretty good for peach is trying to throw in uh low float Aerials uh they are much safer than the dash attacks even if your opponent does shield uh assuming you do your flow cancel Aerials more properly you're gonna get a bigger advantage on Shield essentially you get to act sooner than your opponent uh so you get more time to potentially uh punish them uh slows cancel there low then if you think they're gonna stay in Shield you can grab if they're gonna rolling if you think that's what they're gonna do you can try to chase the role as soon as possible uh punish them afterwards if you think they're gonna jump out of Shield up Bears or an errors depending on percentage can also be very good a common interaction for the peach and fox matchup is you have Fox on one side of the stage doing lasers and Peach on the other side of the stage trying to close the gap extremely common scenario and very important to master the most common mistake we often see from Peach players is that as soon as the fox is trying to throw out lasers the peach player is kinda trying to like being very eager trying to attack right away and you can often see a fox player just do a quick Rising aerial and send them away rinse and repeat and often the process the peach player gets more frustrated and feel even more eager to attack early the next time because they don't want to eat laser damage right this type of mindset this type of approach is completely wrong from the peach player you will have to accept the fact that some lasers will be eaten you will take some damage uh the more important part here is trying to like slowly but surely weave in and out of attack ranges when the fox might attack so he's throwing some lasers and if he thinks that you're just gonna mindlessly go in as I said they often throw it out an early attack trying to beat you out send you away so often like if you go in towards Fox pulling back and he actually approaches that often leads to a scenario where you can with punish uh with grab for example sometimes down smash uh wave Dash back down smash uh there's a lot of potential openers there so for a good Peach player I would say you mix it up between when you go in and when you don't a bad to each player normally always goes in very quickly very early making it very obvious when they're gonna attack if you as a peach player on the other hand played more smart smartly and mixing it up and letting the fox player guess when are you gonna come in you're trying to like Turn the Page uh I think that's very important for peach in the matchup making it hard to tell when you are gonna strike super important and in the process you will minimize the laser damage you actually do take so next we're gonna go over some clip of Peach's wave Dash back since we talked about this match being grounded I wanted to show some examples of how the wave Dash back can be quite useful so let's check it out so yeah over here uh we have Fox approaching Peach uh pretty close by and wave this back with peach barely barely make this shine with if you didn't wave Dash back here the shine would connect possibly lead to devastating damage uh but it doesn't and then kind of like a rinse and repeat scenario here again way dashing back from Peach fox trying to approach but this time uh the down till actually did connect so a good example trying to show that even a tiny tiny bit of difference in spacing with the wave Dash can make it hard to hit Fox doesn't have the biggest amount of range either great usage of wave Dash back and got a kill for it this time here we're gonna look at another example of how wave Dash back can be key to winning situations so over here we have fox trying to approach it's coming in with a short hop uh short up in the air trying to beat Peach the way Dutch back and we can see that then they're barely barely barely is we think and the down smash connects and the kill happens when it comes to the wave Dash back as well I would say it's important to keep in mind what are you trying to get out of it as we could see a dow smash could lead to a Kill A Down tilt could also lead to a Kill uh if the fox is at lower percentage for example maybe a a grab for example uh could be even better so you gotta keep yourself open to all the options your character actually have and then try to maximize the damage or the kill as we seem fit when it comes to turnips in this matchup I would say they are primarily used for Edge guarding but in terms of neutral I wouldn't say they find their way into the matchup too often the exception to that might be if you're playing against a very very campy Fox uh turnips can be used trying to uh minimize these Escape options if you have a read beforehand he's going to jump to a platform you throw up the tournament pretty much uh preventing him from accessing the top platform uh for example but generally speaking especially if you play against foxes a little bit more willing to somewhat engage uh turnips are kind of going to be in the way uh because when you have the turnip there is a lot of your moves that you don't have access to uh so if you have a fox willing to engage more turnips should be more reduced to Edge cards the exception being if they Camp a lot and you can use it to like trap them in the corner or making platform movement between platforms uh harder to do very important aspect in the Peach versus Fox matchup is Shield pressure so with peach if you're getting a flow cancel backer flow cancel Nair on Shield very important to know what to do next in this particular instance we see Peach doing flow cancel bear preparing another float cancel up air and then getting the down smash afterwards due to Fox spot dodging uh very likely what was happening was trying to get a shine out of shield for Fox uh but getting the spot Dodge instead getting punished by the down smash overall when it comes to Shield pressure in this matchup I would say there are a few key things to keep in mind uh if you are pressuring The Shield if you think they're gonna stay in Shield grab is a great option so if you predict Shield then you grab if you think they're gonna jump out of Shield then you want to follow the jump with upper Nair if they are going to be in Tumble after an upper then upper is a good example as we can see that upper when it hits Fox it connects nicely when he has the right percentage and huge damage is potentially happening if he has higher damage and air can be better setting him off the level but overall the takeaway if he jumps out of shield from pressure then it can be very good chasing with an aerial and lastly if you think Fox is Gonna Roll from The Shield pressure chasing the roll down smash Dash attack very good options as we talked about when it comes to Peach's Shield pressure against Fox and his Escape options I figured we also could show a clip of uh peach chasing Fox's role and how important it can be so as this clip shows you have Peach attacking Fox's Shield Fox immediately rolling and predicted uh peach is trying to cover the roll in time gets a dash attack gets up throw gets the punish of course it didn't lead to a Kill this time but I think we all could see that chasing the roll led to a huge opening and you gotta do it right away so next we're gonna go over some more Shield pressure for peach and what you possibly can do uh so in this scenario we're going to have Peach pressure shield on Fox uh and in this scenario jab a quick option if you think you don't have enough time for grab for example which is seven frames uh a quicker option could be the jab it's not going to be a big reward uh but possibly could keep you safe from danger so we get uh Fox uh with the jab and then afterwards uh in this attempt here uh we're gonna apply pressure to Fox shields uh Shields Denair from behind and then as we can see here if you look at Fox's Shield uh his shield is bigger towards the front smaller towards the back of course stuff like this can be impacted based on uh how you angle your Shield uh but assuming you have no angle on the shield it's still going to be a little bit smaller on the back uh and of course could be even and more so if they are holding the shield forward right so as Fox's Shield is smaller on the back here it actually has an increased chance to poke ah we down smash so if you're gonna down smash on Shield uh better generally speaking doing it uh behind Fox rather than in front of fox I still gotta be careful Shield the eye away from the down Splash you might get punished but generally speaking it's going to be a lot easier if you want to down smash on the Block behind generally speaking is better when it comes to Peach's Shield pressure as well it's very important to keep in mind when you're doing your flow cancel layer float cancel backer it's very important trying to be a slow to the ground as possible and land as quickly as possible basically the better you succeed at this the more frame Advantage you will have on Shield basically meaning you get to act for more frames before your opponent is actionable and sometimes even something as small as a one or two frame difference can be uh the difference between your move coming out in time to punish or you getting punished instead when it comes to Peach's Shield pressure against Fox there are quite a few things we need to take into consideration so first of all uh it can be very different if you're approaching uh with a flow cancel aerial directly from the ground or if you're doing it a little bit above ah in this example uh we're gonna have Peach falling from higher up uh frame advantage on Shield is not going to be quite as strong so that's important to keep in mind uh when you want to apply your pressure we have Peach falling down on Fox uh with a fair and we have Fox shielding shielding in time so what do we want to do next it's so many Mix-Ups that can be done uh so you want to read with your opponent is going to do uh next uh so in this scenario here uh if windfox is gonna jump then it comes down trying to cover it uh upper near Upper normally I would say here 36 percentage uh gonna put Fox in Tomball so that's nice uh if we think Fox is gonna stay in the shield uh we can just straight up grab him uh that also would be nice putting him in uh up throw then platform Tech trace a big potential scenario from there uh if you think your down smash for example is going to poke that can be nice you got to be careful though in this scenario fox said pretty big Shield as we could see uh so you don't want to get like wave shined out of shield for example that can lead to tremendous damage and the better the fox player the more common it's going to be that they have good Shield the eye on the down Smash and you can get punished for it so even though down smash can be a huge reward it's one of those options that you got to be careful with since uh you might eat a lot of damage for It Roll is a pretty common option which can happen in the fox tries to roll away from your pressure then you want to try to chase the roll uh Dash attack can be fine uh flow cancel in the air flow cancel up there uh highly depends sometimes if you have like a very spaced fair for example uh and he's Gonna Roll towards you you of course have a smaller distance to cover since he's rolling towards you but you're already starting further away from each other rather than if you're like directly on top of each other so Shield pressure is a lot of like reading your opponent what do you think they're gonna do and then apply the correct solution to their defensive maneuver in this next example we are going to look at how it can turn out wrong if you have a bad read and your pressure does not give you a lot of frame Advantage uh so in this upcoming example we're gonna see flow cancel layer uh done very high up uh the move coming out early uh meaning that our uh advantage on Shield is essentially entirely nullified uh important thing to remember here so as we're gonna come down here with peach falling down uh I wouldn't say that it's always bad to uh throughout the move earlier let's say for example that fox might be throwing out an up smash like a straight up Smash Up smash out of Shield then sometimes throwing out your near early might be the Saving Grace if you're trying to delay it as much as possible then maybe the up smash uh will clip you before you even get your move out so I wouldn't say it's always bad uh to do your aerial early uh especially if you think they might jump out of shield and do an or do in direct action like up smash but there is a downside to it uh and that's something we're gonna see in this clip uh so we have Peach falling down with Nair uh higher up the plugins on there not low to the ground so as we said worse uh Shields done worse advantage and as a result uh fox actually starting a shine here uh shine out of Shield wave shine out of shield and then up smash which actually ended up killing so that's a big one uh one thing I could give us an advice here is that if you're noticing that oh my Nair was too high up I'm not gonna have a lot of frame Advantage you know that the opponent you're playing against is doing uh great uh wave shine instead of Shield one thing that can be uh nice as an escape option for peach here uh can be to just buffer Shield afterwards Shield is uh one frame it's very quick and if you Shield uh the shine in time then you actually can try to punish Fox after he waved ashes uh possibly grab him depending on the side uh he's gonna end up on a quick aerial a lot of Shield could be fine as well now with this set I wouldn't recommend trying to like apply as bad pressure as possible and then try to punish a potential wave shine this is more like uh you catch yourself in a situation where you might get wave shined since your frame advantage and shield wasn't too good in that particular instance and then try to work from there overall when it comes to Shield pressure of peach as well uh Fair Nair backer they can all be used nicely uh they're all uh moves that you can get huge advantage and shield on uh so don't be afraid to use all of them uh one thing to keep in mind with backer obviously since you're gonna have your uh back uh turned against your opponent uh grab is gonna be a bit of a trickier option since you actually need to like turn around uh in order to get the grab uh but yeah work on your Nares your fares your backer the more frame Advantage you can get the better next we're gonna go over to uh Peach's point of view if you are the one getting pressured uh how should you handle Fox's pressure uh what's the things to keep in mind and the very first thing uh we're gonna look over is uh Fox's drill so you are of course you're playing Peach you have a fox attacking you a drill uh one very important thing to keep in mind here is that if the drill has been used it's been staled it's essentially going to have worse uh advantage on shield and that small small difference uh means that it's very easy to Shield grab it uh of course drill can lead to wave shines which could lead to massive damage or kills so even though it's a risk for Fox to use it on Shield uh the payoff for them can be very good so it's still a move you will see every now and then uh so especially if you know if you know that the drill has been used it's stalled uh you've got to be ready with your Shield grabs because if you are this can happen you get a shield grab you get a punish can get Fox off the level Edge guard him and dead so very very ready with your Shield grabs on the drill specifically I highly would say against other type of pressure like low Nares and stuff don't spam Shield grabs good foxes will easily beat out the shield grab uh but stale drills that's for sure when you want a shield grab let's continue talking about Fox's Shield pressure versus Peach you have Fox applying an air shine pressure against Peach uh assuming this is done properly uh you are not going to be able to have enough time to grab Fox uh one thing that can be occasionally used is Peaches upbeat of Shield it's slightly faster uh but if you were to ask me uh you got to be a little bit careful with this option generally speaking uh peaches update of Shield do not give you huge reward uh and if the fox player reads it uh you could possibly get damaged uh punished for it very hard uh so I would say the upbeat is more one of those type of options than you use once in a while trying to keep the pressure more honest but it's not really an option you spam out of Shield uh by any means uh if they fall down with an air uh shine gonna come afterwards in most cases for sure uh shine grab being a common option if you believe that they are going to shine grab often it can be a good idea to just roll away as soon as possible uh because if you delayed a lot you might even get punished after the shine grab but if you do roll very early then commit to the grab uh then you're out from their pressure so keep that in mind uh very common to see Fox players go for this and also if they do go for the shine grab I would say one thing to keep in mind especially when you have like you know decent damage if they are committing to the grab and you are getting caught you have decided to stay in Shield uh you gotta be ready for the up throw trying to Da behind or get out from foxes up through up here especially with kill percentage this could be a huge game breaker we have talked about teachers survivability very important try to like squeeze out as much uh from each one of your stocks as possible uh often for a lot of players if they are not finding these early kills they might start getting more frustrated and that can make them more predictable down the line so I would say it's very important hold on to your stocks and shine grab common option for Fox and pressure so you got to be ready to deal these up throws uh if you decide to stay in shield and you fall victim to the shine grab so keep that in mind for sure next we're going to talk about Peach's punish game against Fox this is a very important aspect of the matchup to master uh you want to have as few openings leading to a death as possible key to win a lot of games uh and for Peter's punish game I would say it's very important to recognize when you can react when you have to guess and when neither of them actually will give you a true punish uh in this first example uh we're gonna see a little bit of reactions uh helping out Peach when it comes to punish game so we have Peach starting off with the dash attack against Fox a tech in place uh important to remember here as well uh this is very very important for peach in particular I would say uh Fox was Landing very close to the edge so a tech roll away uh would actually be interrupted by the stage uh this more frequently will happen on smaller stages because you have less room to the edges right uh because Tech roller waste can be tricky for peach to punish sometimes if your opponent de-ice away and Tech roll away you have slow running speed so you won't always make it in time so that can be a favorable thing with smaller stages edges interrupting the roles more commonly so this is a nice nice type of position to combo in uh to basically make the rolls away not anywhere near as good uh then afterwards we had it taken place from Fox and we see a down smash from Peach important to keep in mind down smash is uh quite a bit faster than grab it's two frames faster and easier to react to basically gives you two more extra frames of leeway on your reaction compared to a grab uh so yeah this was a good reaction punished with the down smash uh Tech roll uh from Fox and then again on reaction being able to cover uh the tech option and punish setting up for a grab going to the platform uh here was attack roll this could have been done on reaction as well uh but a little bit slow in this uh particular instance uh but we saw a few reactions uh paying off and the third one uh could have paid off as well uh so when you can very favorable uh to react very favorable to react your damage output uh once you're good at it is gonna be higher on average overall when it comes to Peach's punish game the main moves you want to look for uh to get your punishes low percentage is fair it knocks down immediately even at low percentage uh extra good if they're Landing kind of close to the edge can't grab the ledge Tech rolls away being interrupted by The Edge uh Dash attack also knocks over even at zero percent uh very good can lead to Big Tech chases big punishes uh the other two I would say is grab uh grab can lead to down smashes uh even at zero percent uh gotta be careful with Fox's SDI if he uh don't di on the up throw SDI or down smash try to escape afterwards but generally speaking uh can still be very good of an option against a lot of foxes and then just straight up uh doing down smashes uh with Punisher Fox approach uh with a wave Dash back for example down smash can be fine uh crash cancel down smash leading to Tech chases so these are the four moves I would be saying that you're gonna be looking for generally speaking uh maybe a little bit extra uh focus on the dash attack uh these are the four moves that generally speaking uh will lead to your punishes especially at the very lowest percentages one of the big follow-ups we talked about at lower percentage can be uh the grab right so generally speaking when you do get a grab uh you up throw them you want to continue the Shane grab as much as possible as long as possible for extra damage extra credit but on platform stages sooner or later uh the fox player very likely will da to the platform assuming that uh the fox player have lower percentage uh they are going to land on the platform sooner uh rather than if they have higher percentage go higher up and it takes longer time uh for him to fall down and actually hit the platform if they hit the platform very very quickly uh then what I would recommend is generally speaking trying to make up your mind beforehand uh do you think they are going to take in place or Miss Tech uppers can be fine for example uh if you think that they are going to Tech roll uh you on reaction can cover the tech roles uh follow up on reaction so it's pretty much you make up your mind beforehand if you think they're gonna Tech roll you can cover it beforehand if you think they're gonna take in place then you need to cover it preemptively one good technique for peach is the double jump cancel so essentially uh you're jumping and then as you reach the height of the platform you can see that peach Lions immediately on the platform this is a lot faster than a Waveland can lead to a new grab maybe then afterwards try to escape to the tall platform and you can pretty much repeat this same uh process eventually if they have high enough damage so it takes longer time before they land you actually can even react on attack in place uh so you can react to the tech in place if they're very high damage Nair can be good sending them off the level and if the tech roll you can still drift towards both sides and hit them with another aerial as well so platform interactions is key against Fox so keep all of these things in mind and work on them and try to perfect them [Music] [Applause] [Music] next we're going to talk a little bit about Peach's upper this move is incredibly important for a punish game uh versus Fox especially more at Mid and decently high damage a really good move to keep your opponent above you and extend the damage uh so in this clip we're gonna look at one way uh we can use the up air so we have teach doing a dash attack Fox lines on the platform here and as we talked a little bit about earlier uh when it comes to the tech chases uh the reactions uh acting preemptively so in this scenario here we have Fox Landing uh and in this scenario he's gonna attack World left uh the thing is this Tech in place uh versus Tech roll to the left it's close enough in the distance where we actually can cover both these options uh with the same up air so in this example we can see that the upper is still working uh this would have covered taking place it would have covered Tech roll away uh we also know that fox has you know not super high damage but you know decently High still uh this is often a sign that people are gonna try to hold in they don't want to go like super flying off the stage if you do an air for example so very likely they're gonna try to hold in which is the case here as well uh which pops up Fox very nicely for a second up here and kind again uh a lot of times they're gonna try to hold in uh they don't want to die but even if they're holding out uh you can very very often react both on drifting outwards and drifting towards the stage uh so keep that in mind as well uh try to work on your timing on your spacing so you as often as possible can react under your di you want to minimize guesses uh in punish game on the DI as much as you can so yeah we got two operas here uh we are now by the tall platform and we can get a big punish uh with weak moves with weakness into a strong there uh so yeah very very important concept uh uppers popping them up nicely uh and as we saw in this example sometimes you can even cover numerous uh Tech options uh or Miss tech for that matter uh with the same up air in this next example we're going to look at we're going to look at the importance of delaying your moves to get a more favorable position to have a higher chance of extending your combo further uh you might be a little bit surprised here in this example we're gonna look at a peach Falco clip rather than Peach Fox even though this is the fox episode uh generally speaking when it comes to Aerial combos against Fox and Falco it's practically identical so if it applies to Fox it applies to Falco uh you can use an extremely extremely similar type of mindset of how you connect your moves uh when it comes to the dash attack uh the Aerials uh so don't be afraid just because it's Falco in this clip so first off in the Spanish are punish uh or a combo opener uh Dash attack uh has been talked about earlier extremely good extremely common uh it is a little bit higher percentage pops them up nicely uh in this example here uh this one is key this one is key so we have Falco that is flying up right you can already do an air here for example uh Falco is a little bit higher up a little bit above Peach's head right now what you can do which I would say is very nice is kind of like delay the move you can see that numerous frames uh was delayed here Falcon is closer to the ground now when we hit with an air uh and this might not seem like a big deal uh but this is actually very very important uh squeezing out extra time on The Headstone essentially making Falco or Fox uh this this same concept honestly can be applied uh throughout all of Smash squeezing out more hitstone so basically uh the Spacey falling down closer to the ground which means when the next move connects uh the Falco or Fox they're going to be closer to the ground than they would have been if you didn't there very very early uh and that means that now in this scenario uh the perfect perfect height for a new Dash attacker to connect uh if we did the follow up earlier and Falco would have been higher then this Dash tag might not have connected literally from the simple fact that we delayed our Nair what to Falco being closer to the ground it's set up nicely for a new Dash attack to connect and since this Dash attack connected Falco holding in and we have enough time to squeeze in uh weak reverse backer hitting Falco holding in and we can connect the weak move into a strong move for the kill the overall takeaway is squeeze out the headstone it's very important to know how long is your opponent in hits on when can they start jumping out of hits done uh and if you can you often want to squeeze out every single frame that you can uh before you act not only even due to the height difference that is very very important but sometimes even spacing related so if we go back and look at this clip we can see the Falco is going down here right but we can also see that peach is getting as close as possible as close as possible to Falco so after uh the nerve connects we have a smaller distance we need to run to actually get a strong Dash attack if we got a a more of like a sweet or a tip around an air hitting like further away then this strong Dash attack may not even have connected so that's also very important not only so they fall lower but also see I have a less travel distance afterwards extremely important and this can often be a huge huge difference for combos between interrupting your combo extremely early or in this scenario actually getting a Kill from it next up we're gonna talk a little bit about peaches up throw a very important move in the fox matchup uh at lower percentage if you do get a throw throwing them upwards and a lot of the times I would say down smash is the best option to use uh in this particular instance we have an up throw against Vox Fox di in front of the peach and we have a down smash that connects uh in this scenario it's uh a little bit annoying maybe uh but up through down smash on di away is actually a controller Port dependent uh if you're a peach player I would highly recommend trying to get the port closer to one so if you have the lower number on the port uh up throw down smash actually works on DIY and it doesn't if you have the higher number so this combo here it literally worked due to controller board it's very precise uh in terms of like frames uh I think it's frame perfect actually uh but very very important to get if they die in front of you and you hit the down smash it's often going to be like numerous hits on the down smash which means that you're gonna get a good texture scenario afterwards uh if you do an up throw and a DI behind however not controller Port related a very very easy uh timing as well so if the DI behind just do down smash Don't Be Afraid easy timing if they do get nothing at all Downs mesh can be fine uh but always a risk that the fox player knows how to esti the down Smash and actually can punish you during your uh downtime very rare but you might run into a fox player that knows how to do it and if so I would say try to mix up your timing on the down smash to make the SDI harder or not even doing the down smash at all at higher percentage uh if the fox player has uh you know like let's say 60 here as in this example uh you pretty much just want to Shane grab you just want to throw them up uh get as much damage as you can uh extra credit always nice basically summarize it [ __ ] the ice in front controller Port needed if you are gonna go for the Downs match if you don't have the higher or lower number on the port uh then you need to work uh add it more from the textures perspective if they die behind the throw down smash very good and then be careful if they don't die at all and you do the down Smash in case they can SDI and then as soon as you can start the Chain Grab you want to squeeze out the most amount of damage you can in this next clip we're gonna go over uh we're gonna check out uh punish from Peach I kind of want to highlight the very end of the combo uh but I also feel like the rest of the combo is important so let's go over it all together uh so we have each Fox uh playing neutral uh peach pulling back retreating uh punish Fox uh trying to attack earlier probably predicting Peach trying to go in uh Dash attack combo opener very important uh knocks down even at zero I will react to a Miss Tech we are in range for the down smash which we can connect with reacting to another Miss Tech and get a dash attack and then if you can especially on FD you want to convert Dash attacks for example into grab if possible uh better to minimize the amount of times you can react uh for more safe damage which to Shane grab will give you uh so if you can get the grab especially on FD take it take it it's better than uh relying on the reactions we're all humans and even if you have the best reactions in the world they will be missed occasionally especially against a character like Fox that can play shine very very fast option uh but yeah here we get the Shane grab trying to get as much damage as we can taking the extra credit uh Nair very common way of trying to end the Shane grab once you know you start approaching a little bit higher percentage uh but the one thing I really want to go over is uh here now we have very high damage on Fox very high damage on Fox uh we get an up throw here and it can be very tricky trying to get some sort of follow-up sometimes you can see a peach player trying to read uh Panic jump uh out of hitstone and then try to punish the jump one option I personally also like to do here to do once in a while is to throw out a weak Dash attack here so you throw out the dash attack very very early so you get the weak hit and it kind of Pops them up a little bit and you can punch afterwards uh with Nair for example uh given the right scenario the right di you can probably even sometimes connect an up smash probably quite a bit harder uh but yeah Nair here tight damage you can make it tricky key uh which side are they gonna end up on uh are they gonna fly in front of peach behind Peach maybe you can catch their di off guard so yeah weak Dash attack connecting into the near uh alternative way of trying to end uh the Shane grab uh of course if they are ready and Di away on the dash attack this actually do not work so I would not recommend always spamming this option uh but it's clearly a good option uh to have in at your disposal up next for punishes uh we're gonna talk a little bit about Peach's uh Fair uh also very good move uh to start off your punishes uh knocks down at zero so that's always valuable or mindset against foxes should be knockdowns gives us the tech chases we want so let's look over this example uh we have Peach floating above Fox and also important to notice in this clip is that uh floating for a bit of time before actually acting so we have Peach floating nothing happens for you know a little bit of time until finally until finally we act punishing away this out of Shield uh the thing is I feel like to an untrained eye it might just look like a fair uh but the thing is uh the timing matters uh for a lot of uh lower level players they might have the same type of attacking patterns so as soon as you float for example you might go down with the move immediately and for more high level players it's more about mixing up exactly when you attack so in this particular example uh we were waiting quite a bit for the float and then we acted uh giving folks the opportunity to recognize that oh like you know he's waiting trying to escape and then as soon as Fox was ready to escape that's when we struck so yes Fair gives us the textures we want but also the timing of when we attacked with the fair uh was the key to actually get this opening that doesn't mean that you always should wait doesn't mean that you always should attack right away the importance is mixing it up so we get the fare get the tech Chase Tech Chase again and then down smash to beat the jump to the ledge uh most of the time I honestly would recommend doing it down here here it doesn't have as much uh end lag you have numerous uh hits on the down air so I highly uh would recommend using there that most of the time uh but in this case uh the down smash still worked and then of course two stalks to one just secure the kill and win the game
