Pengertian Noun Phrase

• Noun Phrase: Sekelompok kata yang berfungsi sebagai kata benda.
• Frase: Rangkaian kata yang memiliki makna tanpa subjek dan verb (bukan kalimat).
• Contoh: "car" (mobil) menjadi lebih spesifik dengan modifier seperti "the yellow sports car".
• Head: Kata benda yang dijelaskan.
• Modifier: Kata yang memberikan penjelasan tentang head.

Pembentukan Noun Phrase

1. Determiner + Noun

   • Determiner: Kata penentu yang berada sebelum noun.
   • Contoh:
     • Article: "a, an, the"
     • Demonstrative: "this, that, these, those"
     • Possessive: "my, your, his, her, our, their"
   • Contoh Kalimat:
     • "She is a doctor." (a = determiner)
     • "Those houses are very expensive." (those = demonstrative)
     • "Our class is very big." (our = possessive)

2. Quantifier + Noun

   • Quantifier: Menunjukkan jumlah.
   • Contoh: "a lot of, many, some, each, every".
   • Contoh Kalimat:
     • "I have many dollars." (many = quantifier)

3. Adjective + Noun

   • Adjective: Kata sifat yang mendeskripsikan noun.
   • Contoh Kalimat:
     • "She has a beautiful house." (beautiful = adjective)

Urutan Noun Phrase

• Urutan 1: Determiner + Adjective + Noun
  • Contoh: "My favorite superhero film won an Oscar."
• Urutan 2: Determiner + Noun (sebagai modifier) + Noun
  • Contoh: "The cute girl is walking alone."
• Urutan 3: Quantifier + Determiner + Noun
  • Contoh: "All those children are waiting for food."
• Urutan 4: Quantifier + Determiner + Adjective + Noun
  • Contoh: "Each of the expensive glasses is heavy."
• Urutan 5: Quantifier + Adjective + Noun (sebagai modifier) + Noun
  • Contoh: "Some delicious soup dishes are ready to be served."

Fungsi Noun Phrase

1. Sebagai Subjek:
   • Contoh: "The teacher called me Sultan."
2. Sebagai Objek:
   • Contoh: "Tony gives his son a bike."
3. Sebagai Complement:
   • Subject Complement: Contoh: "Mr. Tirta is a writer."
   • Object Complement: Contoh: "The class members elected Arya their leader."
