Creating a Dashboard in Salesforce
Prerequisites
Requires underlying reports previously created.
Accessing Dashboards
Navigate to the
Dashboards
tab in any Salesforce application.
Alternatively, access through the
App Launcher
:
Search for "Dashboards" or select "View All."
This leads to the
Dashboards Home Screen
showing recent dashboards and existing ones in your org.
Creating a New Dashboard
Click
New Dashboard
.
A pop-up will prompt for:
Name
of the dashboard.
Folder Location
(choose private or public).
For demo purposes, keep it in a private folder.
Click
Create
to access a blank canvas.
Dashboard Layout
The dashboard features a grid layout with various columns and rows.
Add components by clicking the
Plus Component
button.
Adding Dashboard Components
Each component must have an underlying source report:
Tabular Report
: Easiest type, allows only a
Table
component (Lightning Table).
Summary Report
: Supports multiple dashboard components (excluding stacked bar and stacked column components). Available options include:
Donut
Funnel
Gauge
Customize properties for each component:
Adjust display settings (colors, ranges, titles, subtitles).
Resize and drag components on the canvas as needed.
Matrix Report
: Supports all dashboard components including:
Stacked Bar Charts
Stacked Column Charts
Finalizing the Dashboard
After adding components and arranging them, click
Save
.
Click
Done
to see the dashboard from an end-user perspective.
Options available for refreshing, subscribing, etc.
