hey guys what's up John here from flight Mike alpha comm coming to you today to talk about the five myths about yours see if I check ride okay so as you guys can obviously see we are gearing up to do a full CFI oral exam here but today we're just talking about the five myths that applied you to see if I check ride stay tuned for the full CFI oral it is like it's gonna be awful for me it's gonna be like a full six to eight hours of me answering questions and putting it all on the web for you guys to see either way today the first myth we want to talk about is the fact that the CFI check ride is eight hours long well the hold check ride itself is probably six to eight hours but don't plan on an eight hour long oral if you know your stuff and you can answer the questions quickly and you can give fast responses because not everything you're going to know off the top of your head but if you're gonna look things up quickly and access that information quickly it will go much much quicker playing about four to six hours for the aural realistically maybe you know on the shorter side of four hours if you really know your stuff you can blast through quickly now what do you need to study for the CFI a whirl they say everything right well everything is a lot and that's a crazy overwhelming amount of information that's why we have fly at Mike alpha comm which you can just go ahead and check out and we'll tell you exactly what you need to study you know our online course is there now the second myth is that if you have your AGI your advanced ground instructor or your IGI your instrument ground structure then that negates the FOI portion of the CFI whirl and you don't need to study any of that that's not true regardless of what you do for your first see if I check right your initial flight instructor check read whether it's CFI Mei or your CF double I it's going to have an FOI portion attached to it usually early on in the check ride the examiner likes to get it knocked out of the way 30 to 60 minutes depending on the examiner and depending on how well you know your stuff now that doesn't mean you shouldn't get the IGI or the AGI it's great you actually need one of those if you want to get your gold seal later on down the road and the HDI and the IG I having that certificate when you show up for the check ride showing him an FOI written exam in the CFI were in the exam say if you're going for your initial CFI and sliding those across the table to the examiner saying hey I've got both written ones completed now you can just slide your little certificate across the table and that shows that you're serious about being an instructor plus it doesn't show the score you got in the FOI so if you got a seventy seventy one that's totally okay the third myth is that the CFI candidate needs to have every single thing memorized to a tee you can't forget anything and you just need to be able to rattle it off the top of your head simply not true I can look at a sectional chart and say this sectional chart there's some really weird symbols on here you don't need to know exactly what they mean you need to know where to look it up like the legend or like the actual chart user's guide because some of these symbols on the sectional chart are not always on the legend on the side panel and if you're using for flight or Garmin pilot or an EFP of some sort you may not have access to that legend on the chart side panel either way don't sweat on memorizing everything you should know a lot off the top of your head but you should more importantly need to know where to look it up and be able to find the answer quickly fly it Mike alpha comm can help you with that number four on our list is that you need to have a lesson plan for every single maneuver possible ever in a lesson plan for everything from the full private pilot and the full commercial pilot mean to handwrite every single one of those simply not true well there is a few very very few less than 1% crazy old school DPS out there that expect you to hand write all of your lesson plans isn't it better to use a lesson plan that a very experienced see if I wrote with thousands of flight hours and thousands of hours ago given compared to you writing one when you have zero hours of dual given yeah I think so right they probably know a little bit more about teaching so you can use those pre-printed or pre-made up lesson plans in your CFI binder or on your CFI oral exam but know how to write a lesson plan and know how to modify it to the students needs in yeah using the pre-made ones totally okay you'll be able to find a whole set of those lesson plans included for you on fly at my coffee table under our see if my kit that comes out later in 2019 alright number five on the list our last myth is that this check rides are guaranteed to fail your first time certainly not true and the fact that people say less than half the people pass in there for try isn't true either actually the pass rate depending on what locale you are in the country varies between about sixty to seventy percent it differs with different parts of the country of course but 60 to 70 percent of the people pass in their initial try now it might be slightly lower than the rest of these certificates out there then the Private Pilot instrument commercial but not by much really and you certainly have a very fair chance of passing this on your first try if you're well-prepared and if you know where to find all the answers and if you are ready and eager to teach the material and not just be a student going for a check ride but really ready to run the check ride and be able to show the examiner that you're ready to be an instructor and share your knowledge with a student not just still be in learning mode that's a really common mistake guys make well have a separate video for you of the most common mistakes people make through the CFI check right but that's five minutes about the check ride if you guys have any questions about this go ahead and leave it in the comments right below be sure to stay tuned for the full see if I or will exam coming out here we'll break it up into a couple of videos for you because nobody really wants to sit there and watch a four or five hour or six hour long YouTube video anyways I really don't stay tuned also for all the CFI courses coming out on fly eight Mike alpha comm in 2019 and as you know if you can't fly everyday flight wake up calm good luck on you see if I check right we'll see in the next video [Music] [Music]
