  • When approaching a steep hill, reduce speed and prepare for potential visibility issues.

Passing and Sharing the Road

  • Construction and maintenance warnings use orange diamond signs.

Vehicle Operation and Safety

  • Minimum legal tire tread depth is 1/16th inch.
  • Test braking distance by stopping within 25 ft at 20 mph in an empty parking lot.

Vehicle Registration and Documentation

  • Initial registration for a new vehicle is valid for 4 years.

Speed Limits and Passing Rules

Parking and Lane Positioning

  • When parking uphill, turn wheels away from the curb.

  • Bicyclists may signal a right turn by extending their right arm straight out.
  • Begin signaling at least 100 ft before turning and cancel after the turn.

  • Bodily injury during a safe passing violation results in a $500 fine and 2 penalty points.

Night Driving
