Introduction to Animated GIFs in PowerPoint

  • Animated GIFs are a great way to add animation without a video file.
  • PowerPoint supports the insertion and use of animated GIFs.

Steps to Insert an Animated GIF

  1. Accessing the Insert Tab
    • Go to the Insert tab in PowerPoint.
  2. Choosing Pictures
    • Select Pictures option.
  3. Browsing for the GIF
    • Locate the animated image file stored on your computer.
  4. Inserting the GIF
    • Insert the GIF onto the slide.

Manipulating the GIF on the Slide

  • Click and drag to reposition the GIF.
  • Resize the GIF just like a normal image.

Viewing the Animation

  • Animated images won't show their animation until in Slide Show Mode.
  • In Slide Show Mode, the GIF will loop its animation continuously.

Animation Settings

  • PowerPoint does not allow changes to how many times the animation plays.
  • Set the looping option when saving the animated GIF using apps like Photoshop.
  • PowerPoint follows the metadata of the image file for animation settings.
