How to Completely Disable Co-Pilot in Windows 11

Overview

  • Purpose: Disable Co-Pilot feature in Windows 11 which many find annoying.
  • Methods: Taskbar settings and Group Policy Editor.

Disabling Co-Pilot via Taskbar Settings

  1. Open Settings
    • Right-click on the Windows icon
    • Select 'Settings'
  2. Navigate to Personalization
    • From the left-hand menu, click on 'Personalization'
  3. Find Taskbar Settings
    • Click 'Taskbar'
  4. Toggle Off Co-Pilot
    • On the right-hand side, find the Co-Pilot option and toggle it off
    • This will remove Co-Pilot from the taskbar but won't completely disable it

Completely Disabling Co-Pilot via Group Policy Editor

  1. Open Group Policy Editor
    • Open Windows search
    • Type gpedit.msc
    • Select 'Edit Group Policy'
    • Note: If you get an error, you might be using Windows 10/11 Home Basic Edition
  2. Navigate to Co-Pilot Settings
    • From the left-hand menu, click 'User Configuration'
    • Select 'Administrative Templates'
    • Click 'Windows Components'
    • On the right-hand side, find 'Windows Co-Pilot'
  3. Turn Off Windows Co-Pilot
    • Double-click 'Turn Off Windows Co-Pilot'
    • In the box that pops up, select 'Enabled'
    • Click 'Apply' and then 'OK'
