authorised law reports are the official and preferred law reports cases published in an authorised report are the version of a judgment that has been approved by a judge or their associate if a case has been published in an authorised report this version should be used and cited the aglc tells us if a case has been published in several different reports there is a preferential order first are the authorised reports if a case has not been published in an authorized report the preference is generalist unauthorized reports subject specific unauthorized reports unreported medium neutral citation unreported no medium mutual citation a medium neutral citation is a citation system that doesn't depend on a publisher for example decisions published on the court website that have a judgment number instead judgments with no media mutual citation just have the name of the court the judge and the date see the aglc for a full list of law report abbreviations reports marked with an asterisk are the authorised reports you can use a case citator available on the law guide to quickly search and see the list of places a case has been published if you need help finding an authorised report ask us at the library
