First Corinthians we were there at 12 remember he goes on talking about these things in the 14th chapter of First Corinthians who's he writing to who's he writing to well why don't we just turn back to the first chapter of First Corinthians and see Paul called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God and SES our brother under the Church of God which is at Corinth amen now writing to the whole church then isn't it all right now notice the first follow after charity that is follow after love Agape follow after Love and Desire spiritual gifts that's the beginning of the chapter all right look at the next to the last verse of the chapter Brethren where poor Brethren covet to prophesy and forbid not to speak with tongue that all things be done decently and in order now then I want you to notice that he talks in in in relation to spiritual gifts he said to desire spiritual gifts and then to covet them and covet just means to eagerly desire you you understand now here again is where ignorance and the combination of the two has hindered us we look at that I did the same thing that you've done and did most all of us are guilty of it and uh we sometimes individually would desire some of these things and never seemed to work out right then I remembered when I left my last Church 1949 went out on the field and field Ministry going from church to church holding we'd call them r Bal meetings or church meetings and I may go to one church and I had nearly all I'd have seven out of these nine manifestations of the Holy Ghost to be manifested through me boy just aor time and I used to after I got started took me a couple years to get Estus on the field I wouldn't accept the invitation less than three weeks i' stay three four 5 6 7 8 nine weeks a lot of time as long as nine weeks that's the longest ever stayed you see and and and then after I got established I wouldn't accept anything less than 3 weeks so ordinarily so so you see anywhere in between now you'd stay that long in one church one one Church see meetings every night then after we got established i' I'd teach every morning preach every night we'd take Saturday office at rest day now I'd Wonder I'd go to this church and just have nearly all of them seven out of the nine would be manifested through my Ministry sometime during that some of them only once some of them more frequently you'd go to another church fine Splendid gentleman as Pastor never treated any better than your wife wonderful people and just have a little bitty sprinkling and then you'd go to another place Splendid people fine folks get people saved filled with the spirit even healed by the laying on the hands but from the standpoint of gifts or manifestation of spirit none zero none and very few places really did you have more than just tongues and interpretation that would operate very few places would you have any more till I got disturbed about it I knew the P they treat me just wonderful marvelous men of God church people were marvelous good people and I remember I went to the Lord again you know you know as a last resort we used to turn to him you know after we can't figure it out ourselves you know get all dep pending of all of our friends and all of our fellow preachers and fin is a last resort we'll go to him you know cuz they can't answer it you know they couldn't answer it nobody knows for sure well just up to God you know he just didn't see fit to you know after all God's Sovereign he can do anything he wants to do and that's just a good way you know to get out under your responsibility and lay everything off on God just just really a religious out so I went to God and prayer about it Lord you know why why why you know I go to some of these places and over here and man I L don't do any fasting and it's my custom usually to fast a couple of days a week but no extra fastings no no extra praying just put forth the least effort all motion Bo I tell you just seem like works like magic here it goes and I go over here nothing working so I go to fasting I fast three times as much pray two or three times as much as ordinary and still don't have anything now why you know it's so simple bless my heart you almost turn your face away and hate to admit that you're so stupid the Lord said to me see you're you're misinterpreting what I said I I'll say this you know Paul told Timothy he's a young preacher said study see that's where we missed it we never did study we run around talked we run around that want somebody else to do a study in for us you know somebody what you what's your opinion on this brother what's brother doad think about it what's sister no less what she think about it oh brother when you get to us all of them you you know less and you're left in a do that so you don't know either so I said Lord uh you see Paul told Timothy a young Minister study to show thyself to prooved unto God a Workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of Truth a lot of times we have not rightly divided the word thought we did if it can be rightly divided it can be wrongly divided now here's what I did the Lord said to me I did not write a letter see through Paul Paul wrote it you know but he's inspired by the Lord the Holy Ghost so one thing you might say the Holy Ghost said through Paul I did not have Paul to write a letter see the Holy Ghost didn't Inspire him to write a letter to John Smith in the church at Corinth John you desire spiritual gifts uhoh see I'd taking that person that he's writing me and telling me to now he's telling the whole church to desire them he's not writing a letter to Susie Jones in the church at Corinth or some Matha skirtz they you know they' have funny names back there no he wrote a letter we just got through reading it the Church of God he said you see the reason this church that you went to and you had all these manifestations of the spirit was because that church as a body and is as a group desired them these other folks are wonderful Christians they love me but they haven't been taught and so they don't desire those things now if you was down in the very heart of Africa where they've never even seen no know a thing in the world about it about a a candy a Babe Ruth for instance and you walk up said do you have a desire for a candy bar said what a candy a bar of candy I mean if they could understand you if you could translate over inight they say what's that or right in the very heart you know way back Inland there say would you like do you have any desire for an ice cream cone dear Lord they don't know anything about it you see that's the reason people don't desire things they don't know anything about them pastors and preachers and teachers ought to go to teaching on them and folks would go to desire them not individual but that group he got to desire it now if you he said at the church at Corinth this body of Christ if you will desire spiritual gifts then the Holy Ghost who's a perfect gentleman he will manifest himself through individual members as the spirit Wills can you see that well then for for that desire to be there you know it's there latent it's there in a sense in that any Christian has a desire for the things of God and desires to know more about God they'll tell you that but you know you can desire say well I'm just hungry for God I'm hungry for the things of God and you can stay that away 20 years and still be hungry but but you don't specify are you listening to me amen that's the reason you need to teach on these pastors need to do that yes and teach on them in a positive way not a negative way and the desire will rise amen now you can take a child in your home that child probably and he'll get it from you if you have that kind of Desire if he don't he won't either but the desire for an education but he may only see that well you know long as I can make High School that'll be fine but you want a create him a desire to go on to college and to be more and better educated than you are cuz you see the need of it now then how are you going to create that desire you're going to create that desire there by talking about it amen you you know what you can be not the least bit hungry I was just talking to somebody today because you see my wife and I were going to visit that person at this Christmas season their home for a special reason and I'd already said yesterday you know well they talking about something eat I said oh dear lord I've eaten so much now and so much junk now until I'm hanging out over my belt and as soon as this gets through I'm going to have to do something about that sweets are gone just soon as you get through this seat boy just cut that off amen I said amen I'm not the least bit hungry see no no we W concerned about anything eat just just just forget that you know I mean you if you had a little something to drink you know just a a you know a glass of cold water as far as I concerned or or you know a glass ice tea something be fine just you know but I was talking to that person today and they said well yeah we W in out out and and they began to talk about fried chicken and they began to talk about baked potatoes and they began to talk about making hot biscuits and gravy oh dear God and before they got through I'm hungry I'm hungry huh now how did they create that desire I when I went in there what the least bit hungry to start talking to just felt full like I never wouldn't want anything else to eat how did they create that desire they began to talk about it that's right how you going to create the desire for the supernatural you're not going to create the super desire for the supernatural in some church by telling them supernatural's been done away with that's right they won't expect it they won't desire it and they won't have it that's right you know you understand this God could he can do anything on his own he might because some individuals hungry do something but but as a usual thing no that that that congregation but I'll tell you what if that congregation if that body of Believers if the preacher will teach right and preach right the desire for the supernatural rise up in them bless God and they'll go Desiring these Supernatural manifestations and the Holy Ghost will start manifest himself and dividing to every man severly as he will so there is something we can do about it isn't he number three number one don't be number three desire these things number three pray now you got your Bible there oh I wish my my my my good m not even take off spiritual scriptural scriptural precedent for it notice in the fourth chapter of Acts real quick now fourth chapter of Acts remember at the gate called Beautiful yeah Peter using the name of Jesus the the man lame men's begging arms Peter looked at him said Silver and Gold Have I None but look on us he said first on he and John Silver and Gold Have we none but such as we have give give I such as I have give I Thee what do he have he had the name of Jesus in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk took the man by the hand lifted him up me his feet and ankle bones received strength and he went into the temple walking leaping praising God well they took Peter and John into question rested them they were threatened before the council you know and brought before the council and were threatened and were commanded to preach and to teach no more in the name of Jesus now here in the fourth chapter 23rd verse I like this being let go they went into their own company and reported all that the chief priests and Elders had said unto them and when they heard that they lifted up their voice to God with one Accord the whole company of Believers the whole company of Believers lifted up their voice to God with one Accord now I'm sure they see the Holy Ghost this is the way God heard their prayer this is Holy go I'm sure they didn't all say just the same word in the same place but when you sum it up this is what they all saying Lord Thou Art God which has made Heaven and Earth and the Sea and all that in them is they talked about first how big God is see a lot of people they start praying they talk talk first about the problem how big it is oh we're all going to get arrested we're all going to be put in jail Devil's going to take everything over whole world's going to hell oh the Antichrist may come over the hill over there tomorrow oh dear lord they talk himself out of Faith out of everything and into defeat well if we had time we could read to do some meddling here couldn't we amen now listen listen who by the mouth of thy servant David is said why did the Heathen rage and the people imagined vain things and the king of the earth stood up the rulers were gathered together against the Lord and against his Christ far truth against thy holy Child Jesus whom thou Hast anointed both Herod and Pontius pilot with the Gentiles and the people of Israel gathered together for to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done talked about God how big he is and then they talked about Jesus and who he is and now then they got out to the problem yeah and now Lord behold their threatenings and God help us Lord just to get the right people so we can form a committee and go get together with them and this work out a solution to this problem no you know there huh oh that wasn't a w done no Grant unto thy servants yeah that's right grant unto thy servants that with all boldness that's right that's right that's right they may speak Thy Word how by stretching forth thine hand to heal and that signs and wonders may be done by the name oh there's that name again there's that name again signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy Child Jesus now wait a minute remember the New Testament had been written see they couldn't pray cuz they didn't know it they couldn't pray Grant oh Lord that gifts of the Spirit working of Miracles special Faith Gifts of healings will be made manifest Among Us they couldn't pray that way why they didn't know it but when you sum it up that's what they're praying for healings signs wonders Miracles hallelujah amen now see the answer to their prayer first of all the 30th verse said 31st verse said and when they had prayed the place was shaken my my my my people get disturb disturbed because people shake sometime the power gets on them and they shake you wait till the building starts shaking they will get excited the place the place where they were assembled the building shook and they is all filled with the Holy Ghost and spake the word of God with bold with timidity with boldness boldness well look in the fifth chapter and see the answer to their prayer look at verse 12 and by the hands of the Apostles yes were many signs and wonders wrought among the people skip down to the 15th verse in so much that they brought forth the sick they said stretch forth your hand to heal the sick yes into the streets and laid them on beds and couches that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them there came also a multitude out of the cities around about when they heard about it multitude around about un bringing sick folk and with them those which were vexed with unclean spirits and is healed every once I thought you had to cast Spirits out of people here's Peter Shadow fell on them and they left yeah now you don't set anyone pattern of doing it that's right there's not anyone set way it has to be done you make a mistake and Miss God when you do I mean when his shadow fell on him the devil's left glory to God Amen the diseas has departed from them and the evil spirits went out of them glory to God amen amen amen amen amen amen amen now somebody you see bless their heart if it had been nowadays they would have wanted to start immediately a shadow healing Association or they to run said oh oh no no no the only way you can get the devil out of you is to get Peter Shadow to fall on you that's the only way he leaves no it's just one way you can't set any one way for folks to get healed you can't set any one way for people to get be delivered from demons and evil spirits I'm going to get over into that one of these days here on the different methods of dealing with devils and demons we talk about methods of receiving healing methods of receiving this is one way the shadow of a man of God Anointed with the Holy Ghost just fell on to people the Devils left the sickness left amen amen I said amen amen I said amen amen now how'd that come could could they do and thing yeah they prayed for it see when people begin to desire and covet means to eagerly desire you'll begin to seek you'll begin to pray if you covet something you don't just stay quiet about it you desire my wife and I you know this past month we're married 47 years 25th day of November well I remember when I was quing her finally you know I got to the place that I desired her as my wife well I didn't stay home fast and pray that she'd become my wife bless God I was over there every time you can think of it a lot of times you shouldn't have thought about it I was there we there to see her amen and I didn't just keep my mouth shut and talk about politics you know and talk about uh the governor of Texas and talk about the highway program and talk about the Antichrist no I talked about us getting married I talked about how much I loved her I talked about how lovely she is and how desirable amen because I coveted eager and I Wrong me to covet some other man's wife but she ain't no mother man's wife not wrong me to cover it her that means to desire eagerly amen and finally I kept after till she talked me in the notion of manner oh no no excuse me excuse me don't you go tell her that that's not right that's not right I talk to her in the notion of man me amen praise God Amen top turn and ocean have mared me Hallelujah but I went after praise God why because I desired her to be my wife amen so we've been married we got married and like one fell said we've been married 25 years and said we've been happy off and on ever since then there will be ups and downs whether you like it or whether you don't like it but thank God when you love God God will see you through amen amen well I just use that to dustr part of it just just fun but listen you know as a body of Believers there's a body of Believers here let's desire glory to God Amen let's stand up oh my my you can preach to you folks all day you just soak it up like a sponge just just just just like a sponge of soaking up water close your eyes and lift your hands say it out loud and let your heart agree with it Heavenly Father heavenly father thank you thank you for your holy written word for your holy written word thank you thank you for the Holy Ghost for the Holy Ghost thank you thank you for the gifts for the gifts and the manifestation and the Manifest of the Holy Ghost of the Holy Ghost we desire all nine of them we desire all nine to be made manifest among us to be manifest Among Us the Revelation gifts the Revelation gift the word of wisdom the word of wisdom the word of knowledge the word of knowledge the Discerning of spirit discer the spirit the vocal gifts the vocal gifts prophecy prophecy diverse kinds of tongues divers kinds interpretation of tongues interpretation of Tong we desire all of them we desire all of them but we pray we pray especially at this time especially at this time that there would be there would be a special manifestation a special manifestation an extraordinary manifestation extraordinary of the power gifts of the power is special Faith special Faith working a Miracles working a Miracles Gifts of healing Gifts of healing Grant oh Lord grant oh Lord that thy servants thy servants shall be enabl shall be enable to speak Thy Word with boldness speak my word bold by stretching forth your hands to heal stretching forth your hands to heal that's signs and wonders signs of Wonders Gifts of healings Gifts of healing working of Miracles working of Miracles special special faith will be in manifestation will be in manifestation in a greater measure in AER meure than we have ever seen we have seen or heard or heard read about or know anything about know anything granted oh Lord in the
