we want more there's something we want more how many you really believe that Hallelujah that's really your declaration there's there's I think there's nothing that I want more than Jesus there's nothing that I want more than the Lord I am so thankful and grateful God knew what we had need of before we asked but then God gave us more than we could ever handle in the sense of blessing he always he because he is love and because love gives above its personal expectation of the one it's given its love to God had already given us more love than ever be able to give back to him all God wants us to do is just be obedient to the love he's given and the best way to be obedient to the love that God has given us is to love somebody else Hallelujah is to love somebody else you really know how much you love God when you can love somebody else especially that don't look like you that don't act like you somebody that that doesn't bind being different from you and yet and still you realize it's not because of you or by you or or about you but because of what his son did on the cross Hallelujah we can love everybody because he took the time to love me amen Hallelujah I want you to go let's get into the word Matthew chapter 6. we're going to get right back we have been in this series um uh Lord teach us to pray and we're getting right back into it this morning I'm sounding like my mic is really loud up here I'm not sure if we could adjust that for me please while we are finding ourselves in Matthew chapter 6 Matthew chapter 6 and we'll begin at verse number nine reunite the King James version of the Bible thank God for all of you being with us this morning as for those who are watching as well as for those who are still traveling we bid traveling mercies over them and thank God for you amen for being with us Matthew chapter 6. Hallelujah verse number nine and this is the King James version of the Bible after this manner therefore pray ye Our Father which art in heaven Hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors and lead us not into temptation but deliver evil for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever amen praise the Lord you may have your seats in the presence of our life-changing King father we do bless you and thank you this morning for your word and we give you praise now that it will go forth with power with Clarity and with understanding we thank you Lord that your word is true and as we have come with hearts prepared to receive your word on good ground we ask that it would fall there and take deep root in us bringing for fruit that will glorify you and you alone and for that we bless you we thank you as always giving you and you only the praise in Jesus name amen amen praise God so we've been talking about uh teach us to pray because our Mantra this year uh if it's to be it's up to me and one thing we have discovered with this if it's to be it's up to me yes but I can't do it in My Own Strength I need the Lord and so the scripture uh Psalm 86 verse number 11 and we use the the passion translation and I I'm grateful for the whole verse but I've been stuck on that first phrase because he says teach me more about you and that's really should be should be the desire of anyone in any relationship worth having is that you know more about the person that you're in relationship with it would be very presumptuous of me to assume I don't need the one I'm in relationship with to teach me anything about them as if I know it all already so obviously I need you to help me to know how to better love you so when they talk about marriage Peter says dwell with her according to knowledge why because if you don't know her you won't ever know how to please her the way she desires to be pleased and you cannot love your wife the way you loved your girlfriend unless you married your girlfriend because your girlfriend is not your wife nor is your girlfriend biblical so you can't treat a wife like you try to treat the girl because the girl can't be found in Scripture do you understand there are no boyfriend girlfriends in Scripture are y'all still here I know some of y'all are messing with you already been dating for six years waiting on the Lord and God's waiting on you to stop acting like the world so he can speak to you because there's no need for God to speak to a relationship that has no intention of going forward I'm gonna leave that alone I'll leave that alone just wanted to put that out there though because the whole purpose at least the original premise behind dating before the flesh got involved and then dating leads to mating but the whole premise was to get to know the person to see if this was worth going forward with now here's the problem God is not dating anyone the Bible says that you must believe that he is and believe that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him what does that mean that means you got to believe God is God period because God ain't going to let you figure it out I know the scripture says oh taste and see that the Lord is good so some people thought that was like going to Sam's or Costco on the weekend where God has had a little taster where you can see if you like God or not no you don't get to taste God and send them back the Bible says no man listen after after having tasted of the goodness of God Hebrews chapter 6 says that then because if you after that walk away it says it's impossible that you would even be restored again now you got to be careful because some people believe that I'm still trying to see if I'm going to do this and God says you're not waiting on me I'm waiting I'm waiting on you now why is that to me so important because if the psalmist David you're going to have to like David David's not our savior but you got to understand one thing about David that is said that is not said about anyone else in the entire Bible and that is that he is the apple of God's eye so if God took the time to say that this man was the apple of his eye for him to want to know more about God I think surely I need to know more about God and David said teach me more about you I need to know more so we've been talking about it we talked about knowing God's love because if you're going to love God right you need to know how God wants to be loved but then also if we talk about what's the most important thing to me Jesus said men are to always pray and not faint so if we are to always pray it would behoove us to know how to pray and the reason we need to know how to pray isn't because your praying may be right may not be right it's simple if the if the apostles if disciples asked Jesus who they slept with and ate with and walked with and ministered with if these 12 men who were because they by virtue of being a Jew they've been praying all their lives if they said teach us how to pray surely we ought to say teach me how to pray now the reason we say that now and here's here's let me say this real quick and then I'll get into what I want to get into because I'm just trying to find myself back you know from this time last week I was on a plane headed on my vacation so I'm I'm just getting back in the groove y'all all right and so but here's what what's crazy is many of us will never ask the Lord to teach us anything that we think we already know because somehow we believe if I know it now watch this it's like I'm trying to help you because I don't want y'all to get mad yet but it's kind of like you know your mother your mother I'll use my mama mother pool mother pool bait you know for a living and her her easy as her go-to was that lemon pound cake it's her go-to so what but then because that was her go-to that would be you know I've talked about it before she just whip a cake up I know no recipe needed you know just whip it up you know what I'm saying so we kept butter it was always soft butter in my house in case she felt like whipping one up but in the whipping process if you lived in our house any alone with any uh at the time everybody that lived in our home learned how to whip one up because they were whipped up so often this makes sense so I haven't done it in a long time but I don't want y'all to be fooled I do know how to make mother pool I don't know how to make Duncan Hines because and all that stuff anytime you just Add Water you didn't bake it you understand I'm sorry I'm sorry yeah no no if it it might have been made at home but it wasn't homemade there's a difference but anyway but the point is it would be like me telling my mama I know what I'm doing what I'm doing was she taught me how to do and so when God tries to help us in our prayer life and and I'm gonna tell you as a pastor I just stopped I really did because for years I would be on our leaders about how they pray because if you don't pray how the scripture shows is prayed that means you're praying the way you learn prayer before you read about and studied about prayer and concluded the way I pray is good enough so why change the way I pray I'm already messing with some of y'all because some people pray the quote unquote Lord's prayer before they say their prayers every single time they pray adoptable and that's not Bible nor is it the Holy Ghost Jesus said after this man to pray he didn't say he didn't say before you say anything to God always say this as a matter of fact Jesus never prayed that he said this is the outline this isn't the recital but some folk ain't prayed until they said our father Our Father you called him five times and if he was really your father you would have heard him last night when you were waiting on your last call just thought I'd throw it out there if it was really your father are y'all understanding and then we call our father's name 50 times in a five-minute prayer is one of my pet peeves and I I'm telling you I left it alone because this is the way some people pray I don't mess with it because it's all ice cream that's what helps me if it's all ice cream it's different flavor it's all ice cream some people Pray by talking to God and mentioning his name in every sentence God here I am God asking you God to do this God and God and God and God or Jesus Jesus do whatever and and it sounds very spiritual but here's what makes it in my opinion erroneous because if I have a true relationship with him then I would talk to him on the basis of relationship not religion no one else do you always if you have a five minute conversation with your spouse or with with your child you don't call his name 50 times you identify who you're talking to because y'all got a few of them so you got to identify which one you're talking about Napoleon after that you don't say Napoleon Napoleon Napoleon the rest I'm like oh he ain't talking to us and they're gone Napoleon on the other hand gives you his ear because you've identified who you're talking to some of us pray father now God do this God God God God God and to me my opinion it's like that's how we learned it so we never went to the master and said teach us I'm not the master so don't get it twisted that's not what I'm saying what I'm saying is when we pray I remember we used to my my dad we called them canned prayers because we call them canned prayers not because they could pray but because like a can of peas we knew the can of peas different from the can of green beans you understand what I'm saying it all but but all the cans had the same thing in them if you bought a case of green beans every can of green beans has what in it green beans so the canned prayer is that every single Sunday Deacon so and so would pray the same way y'all got saved again so Deacon pool before my dad became a a minister when he was a deacon Deacon pool would always pray a certain way and we were little kids so we were too too small to know because you know the choir had to stay outside until devotion was over so we'd be out in the hallway waiting to march in and I didn't like being in the choir anyway because too many people looking at you so but I'm a little kid and then you didn't have a choice back then we probably need to bring some of this stuff back now everybody some of y'all been sitting on the law for six years waiting on me waiting on to see where you fit in anyway that's another message but here's the point we would we couldn't see over the little glass window in the door so we would know who's praying not by their voice but by what they said because Dick and green always sends God to the nurse at home and ask him when he's done if he would please sir have mercy stop by here and some mother would always say say your prayers and they would get tuned up and pray and then they get into these words that we couldn't really understand and it wasn't the Holy Ghost it wasn't tongues it was just I don't know what it was it was something and then they would always have the cooling board and all this stuff and it all sounded good but it wasn't Bible and the truth of the matter is when you go home and you have an issue and you try to ask the Lord to stop by here please sir have mercy none of that has anything to do with what you're dealing with you're trying to pray what you heard at church which was a prayer for church and because you never asked the one who said we ought to always pray to teach you how to pray you're wondering why your prayers aren't getting answered because many of us are praying watch this my will be done are y'all still here because here's where we're at now Matthew chapter 6 verse 10 we've already we've already listened we've already dealt with who we pray to we pray to the father who are we supposed to pray to in Jesus name so to ask Jesus to do something for you is uh it's let me say it this way it's like if you're in sonship school it's like the sonship school student telling me the teacher that they're not going to be in class anybody in sonship already know if you tell me that you're not going to be in class I said okay because I don't deal with the attendance I don't tell Eldritch that you told me you're not going to be in class because we've already told you that's not my job so when I go to watch this if I'm going to be late if you're going to be late now sonship why I'm still the pastor of the church but in sonship I'm the dean of I'm all of that but my role is I'm just teaching and so you can call me and depending on what I'm doing I'll even answer hey yeah Pat I just want you to know I ain't gonna be there tonight okay no problem bless you everything all right yep okay and then when you get a unexcused you say well but I told see you missed it because before we ever started we told you don't call me now you say what's I got to do with Jesus Jesus said when you pray don't ask me for anything you go to the father in my name so why are we still saying Jesus Jesus Jesus in our prayers because that's how I learned to pray and I didn't feel it was a need to ask him to teach me how to pray I know how to pray and that what we do you know people say well I know how to swim and I don't know how to swim so praise God but but I the swimmer the person who says I know how to swim well most people that know how to swim the truth of the matter is you know how not to drown because you know can you while in one stroke can't just flip yourself over and do the backstroke can you can you not kick half the pool water out you're saying so there's level obviously there's levels so here's where you put yourself we've been the Bible says to judge ourselves by ourselves with ourselves compare ourselves with one another is not wise what does that mean that means for you to compare your prayer life with another person's prayer life is not wise the standard has to be the word of God now watch this so if if you got in the pool certainly not you had to swim you're not so Chris you know so okay and the kids are learning so Chris who faster y'all ever race they never raised you can't say you are if you ain't never raised now you might in your mind now she's saying probably see you how we backtrack you can't because you never put it to the test so I think y'all should just race now let me ask you something if y'all showed up at the pool and Michael Michael uh Phelps was over there you wouldn't even get in the water why not but both of y'all swimmers different level and see we want watch this we want a ridicule of Peter but Peter's prayers were answered he was praying at a different level for us to sometimes get them answered and sometimes not that's like I ain't sure which one is the fastest way never took the time to race and I don't have time in this Christian walk with the Lord to still be over in the kiddie pool kicking up water when there's work to do on the other side I need to know that when I ask the Lord something in Jesus name it's going to be done so what do I need then I need to do this what does verse 10 say thy kingdom come whose kingdom his thy kingdom come thy will be done in Earth don't miss that not on Earth how as it is in heaven now here's where the the rich comes in I gave y'all my title praise the Lord part two what was it last what was the last time listen his kingdom his way part two my goodness his kingdom his way part two whose kingdom his kingdom how his way that's thy kingdom come whose kingdom thy kingdom his kingdom his will be done whose will so his will is his way his kingdom his way we say thy will be done my way watch this now some because I I have some points babe I did give him some I just three quick ones really and that way I can make sure I cover what I want to cover because the first question and they're they're kind of points slash questions if you will or statements just pondering pondering statements the first one is how is his will done in heaven because the scripture says as it is in heaven do you understand I didn't write it that's what he says this the first watch this in the Lord's Prayer or in this model prayer where we call the Lord's Prayer or the outline of prayer this is the first condition because let's go walk through it he says after this man I pray he Our Father let's settle who are in heaven that tells you where he is Hallowed be thy name so we already got it he's he's our father Heaven is his kingdom and he's he's holy right Our Father which are in heaven Hallowed be thy name now watch this thy kingdom come statement thy will be done in Earth first first statement with explanation or with amplification as it is in heaven it can't just be done in earth because it's in Earth it needs to be done in earth the same way it's done in heaven so this would already eliminate half of these prayers that we'll be praying about stuff that's only Earthly minded here's one thing people don't like William but it's the truth you ready to let's say you want to go and buy a car you know you you want a blue one your wife want a white one and so y'all y'all y'all gonna pray about it and God ain't listening because there ain't no cars in in heaven so you want his will to be done in earth as it is in heaven and you're praying and fashion over what color car and he says son it ain't that deep when you buy it keep it clean I mean really I just walk the lot until the Lord told me which one to buy that's too deep that's too deep man that's way too deep the car ain't you don't need a car in heaven I know I'm messing with people I know I'm messing with you this is too deep why are you over here praying some unsaved dope dealer that came in by five cash money and you over here praying and you're praying because you don't have cash money Mary Kate didn't ask you if you want an orange Cadillac cause she like pink her car her way oh Mary thank you for the karma but uh blew my favorite color well you need to go sell Maybelline because over here we give our pink cat everybody know that y'all laughing in the Kingdom though in the Kingdom William you got all kinds of colors and God told all y'all the same thing what the Lord told me to buy blue because he wanted me to remind stop a thing that's not even a Heavenly matter so what do I do believe God to be able to get the car no stress no Struggle No strain even if I can't pack pay cash for it right away I should always be able to pay cash monthly to keep it in my name just get it over with man get the car thank God for the car pick up folk that need a ride and move on that's a heaven that's a Heavenly vehicle no that's an Earthly vehicle now I'm using the car because I want to mess with you all about these relationships because if it's as in heaven watch this no relationship in heaven is based off flesh because God is Spirit so surely God didn't put this little short light-skinned woman with this tall dark-skinned man because of our appearance are y'all here I like them tall but as in heaven you like them tall watch this go get your tall one then but if you want God's will to be done you don't tell him what you want you ask him what he wants you to have and the reason we get mad at God I know y'all don't think y'all get mad at we get mad at God because he didn't do what we wanted he had her to do his will his way what kind of God is this are y'all here thy kingdom come so how is how is his will done in heaven you ready you you ready it's done his way every day all the time immediately without rebuttal Lord would you say I said it's done immediately his way every day all the time immediately Gabriel Gabriel didn't say well what if the Prince of Persia is there Gabriel stood there and fought with the prince for 21 days why because you told me your word cannot return until you void and you told me to go and even though I'm the messenger not the warrior I will go until you send help I can't leave because you told me to do this I just it blows my mind the Lord said she my wife oh brother are you serious yeah God Pastor I ain't lying so how y'all get divorced I guess God was lying somebody lied or here it is he changed his mind again you know how God is flipping you know he's not the same yesterday today and forever he decides well you know go ahead and leave up son it's all right I got something better for you because we you know listen instead of just telling the truth we got married we liked each other I like the way his knees looked or whatever the case is we thought we'd give it a shot and hope God make it work what happened it didn't work but we don't see now pride and put us in a catch 22 because I've been telling everybody so you get off me God says she's my wife because that way you don't question but but I thought you didn't know God I missed it that time God said it this time okay so now two years later the same you show up you know what I mean by that you're the same different wife same guy different wife same problem must be women hmm could be you could be you so instead of saying thy will be done watch this because marriage how is God's will done concerning this matter I always get the one I'm giving prepared to receive the one I'm giving to them before I give them to them so I wouldn't have gave her to you if you weren't ready to take her from me and you weren't ready how do we know because you want me to replace her and me replacing her means you weren't ready to receive her which means I erroneously put you in that position too early the last time I checked God makes no errors instead of saying we got married we liked each other we loved you whatever that's nothing wrong with it don't miss it it's nothing wrong with it the Bible says marriage is Honorable so even for unbelievers marrying is better than second just get married you said well pastor but what if it's not God well if it's not God why is she even in your life you can't get her and then ask God if this is his will you missing it that's not how he does it in heaven the disclaimer is as it is in heaven it changes everything because I've been praying as it is in Earth this is the way everybody do it God said that ain't how I do it son so you're asking me your spiritual father your heavenly father you're asking me to give you permission to operate carnally on the Earth in my name I got stuck again this morning Chris I'm praying this morning praying for our church I'm telling you I can't get past it I'm my prayer I've been begging God lord deliver destiny from casual carnal corruption we live so carnally it's corrupt and we don't even see it because watch this it's like it would be it's like me saying God how do I do this and then he says okay son do it this way I say yeah okay I'm gonna do it this way though yes you know what I'm saying one thing that I always mess with Pastor I said which which one do you like and she'll say You're Gonna wear the one you want anyway because somebody says I'm not asking you for your way I'm just asking for your opinion I just want to see see now watch this if I say which title you like she said I like the blue one if I already had an idea she might go with the because you know she's going to be a little I like that that abstract color so I said babe which one this is this whatever you do it'll work out okay but I just want your input watch this not your will y'all better get this some people don't want guys well you just want his input most people that come to the pastor you don't come for counsel you come for agreement you've already made up your mind you just want me to agree on you the heavens and his kingdom ruleth Over All bless the Lord ye his angels now we went from bless the Lord O My Soul now he's saying bless the Lord ye his angels that excel in strength why watch this that do what that do his Commandments that's his will hearkening to the voice of his word verse 20 21 bless the Lord all ye hosts ye Ministers of his that what do his pleasure that's his will that do his pleasure bless the Lord all his Works in all places of his Dominion is here's where it comes down to a Christian let me finish the scripture of his Dominion bless the Lord O My Soul so he said here's the struggle because we love to we love to talk about people's you know we love to to to to talk about people's shortcomings or human frailties because it justifies our laziness and his life to the Sheep who loved them and loved his dog and a dog whose trust in that man was absolute whose obedience was instant and unconditional and whose very meat and drink was to do the will of his master I Delight to do thy will what Max said yea thy law is written in my heart to experience the glory of God's will for us means absolute Trust it means the will to do his will and that is joy and I said my God you said pastor what's that got to do with it the dog didn't understand the process or the pattern the dog just understood obedience what's the lacking ingredient in the average believer's life today obedience because we won't unless we understand it and in our finite thinking you can't comprehend well you're here can you really understand who hath known the mind of God and here we are some of us can't even experience Joy unless God explains what Joy is if you got to know what it is you don't know what it is because Joy should be unexplainable the peace is unexplained you can't explain the peace of God you just have to experience it I can't I can't articulate it but many Christians have never experienced it because you're waiting on an explanation how about just obey disobey just obey now watch this that was that was from the commentary this was mine you all ready complaining is always connected to my will always always that's a l w a y s I'm just waiting afraid they might get cussed out or what if they don't receive G I don't want nobody to call me a Jesus Freak so you really say his will or is it my will y'all still here so watch this baby I got good and acceptable and perfect will of God so when I say I don't know what the will of God is then if I don't know what the will of God is on a particular matter I need to go to the word because the will of God is revealed in the word of God do you understand that but when I say I'm not sure what I don't know that what do you call I don't know what I'm called to do I don't know what God wants for think she was shopping so but I saw this woman is frustrated like why you got to wear that in here so here's this woman in 90 degree weather 110 degree humidity but this is who I am are y'all here so I had on I remember one day one day I had on my my t-shirt that says prayer runs through my family and I'm thinking people staring at me and I realize they're just reading my shirt that's why I be careful what you wear because people read your clothes right that's why the words are there you got a Nike anybody gonna look in and say oh Adidas they they understand it they're reading it right that's why they put the words on it in the first place so so I got it and I noticed first of all I'm thinking why y'all staring at me I'm in the South why are you staring at me you know what I mean but honestly I'm just being honest then I was like oh Father forgive me they're reading my shirt right unconverted but anyway so so here's the thing they read my shirt but then someone say I like it other's like oh cool you know but we're not dressed like prayer runs to our family hold on pastor we on vacation she was too we're in the airport yesterday coming home we're watching this this family I said babe what are they I said oh that was the woman with them what's they call what are they called are they not are they Amish she's no she said they could be the reformed Mormon I'm not sure we know there's something because the mother and both her daughters had plain dresses just above the knee I mean above the the ankle just above the ankle loose hair in a bun and they all had that little hair they're all of them and all of them were being stared at and they just conversating with one another like they'd only three in the airport you say well I see that's too much that's what's wrong representation of you it's not can I tell by what I wear but can you tell by who I have that I've been with Jesus so I thank you Father for for the opportunity for us to grow in this thing it's a progressive walk none of us are have arrived and all of us are on our way I just pray God that you give us the stamina to keep moving forward that we don't get stuck and get stale and become sour and find ourselves on the side of the road complaining but that we continue plowing forward trusting you God the day by day we're being conformed into the very image of your dear son now I pray today for those of you who might be with us that are not saved if you've never given your heart to the Lord this is your opportunity to get Jesus in your heart to to surrender your life to him this is the beginning of his will being done in your life because it is the will of God that none should perish but the reason we know God doesn't override our will if it's the will of God that none should perish teeth an unconscionable fire well who's going the ones who never submitted their will to his so if you've never given your heart to the Lord we want to pray with you and pastors I'm not sure about this salvation thing again I encourage you I promise you this I would rather be wrong about God than write about myself because if I'm wrong about God the worst thing can happen is I'm gonna die you take it back we want to go ahead eventually you got to buy something that's why it's always more expensive to rent than to buy because it's not yours and you always pay more for what don't belong
