Good day everyone, I am Jomel B. Maglalang, your Contemporary Philippine Arts from the Regions Subject Teacher. Ngayon ay nasa quarter 2, week 3 na tayo at ang main topic para dito ay Characteristics of Contemporary Arts. First, one needs to be clear about what the term contemporary art has come to mean. Contemporary art is to be, is just simply an art of today. For example, from a painting to a sculpture. and from photography to a performance. It can be anything as long as it is produced in today's era. In this lesson it will teach us everything about the concept of contemporary arts and its characteristics. You will also to see some contemporary artworks that illustrates these characteristics. So let's begin. Characteristics of contemporary arts. The most prominent feature of contemporary art is the fact that it has no distinct feature or a single characteristic. It is defined by the artist's ability to innovate and bring out a modern masterpiece. So we know that this art is is based on today's society. So, over time, the environment changes. So, many characteristics of the arts are developed. It's not just about the art itself. It's also about the capabilities and skills of the artists. How they can develop, improve, or innovate. Here are a few of the technical characteristics. First, innovation in art. Different art forms have been combined or newer ideas employed to bring out newer types of art. It could be a public mood and it could be an effect of being resourceful of any artist. Contemporary art. guides us to have reflection in our society and its issues on politics, economy, culture, and the likes. So, as I said earlier, art is based on... Art. means an inspired in society means and boom about society no so since now uncle Shadon you know in the Naira's in Sabina not in a innovation so from the meaning of contemporary contemporary art is an art that is living in present times it reflects current issues or current events from time to time it changes along with the society so you know and about so here are some some contemporary artworks that reflects the society and all of these are made by Emmanuel Garibay. First is what we called Hangarin or Aspiration or Goal and by 2008 then so ito yung may kita niyo dyan. Ito yung art na yan. It is a depiction of the passionate Filipino interest in sports, especially basketball. The game basketball is part of daily life for young men and in particular who enjoy its physicality. and community appeal. So that's it, we know in the Philippines that most people love sports like basketball. And next, he did Corpus Christi. Humorous and chaotic image comes a more complex work entitled Corpus Christi, a meditation on the meaning of Christ in culture. The painting offers multiple perspective and in invites the viewer to circumnavigate it like a mapmaker or explorer. So yun yun. Ang last niyang nagawa is yung tinatawag na pagpasok ni Kristo sa Maynila or Christ entering Manila. In the crowded complexity of a street festival, so much a part of the rhythm of Filipino community life, we see the signs and symbols of faith and begin to look for the figure of Christ. So dito pinapakita yung... the meaning of Christ Next characteristic is the using new materials Another characteristic that was employed to bring about modern art was the employment of different objects, materials that look useless to the common man but were brought to great use by modern artists. So here, it's easy to understand when using new materials. It's a characteristic to have innovation in art. You use materials that you think are useless in the eyes of others. But as an artist, you'll benefit more and you'll give more value. Here are some contemporary artworks that used new materials such as art using rice. Pwede rin namang using stone kagaya nito. And ito naman ay using pollen, pollen grains from the mga flowers. Third is use of color or paggamit ng mga kulay. Traditionally, color was used as means to bring reality to paintings and art pieces. However, modern artists experimented with the use of color. with colors and used it unconventionally to make new textures and themes and use them in their pieces of art. Color is often one of the most exciting components of a painting. Color can be used for its decorative beauty to create mood and to express or arouse an emotion. In nature and in art, color has a profound effect on the viewer. So, we all know that color is an important element of art. Here, you can express your art more vividly. you use using by using of color so we can differentiate cool colored painting to warm colored painting paramas maintain the not in your purpose now we're so little So you can see on the left is the cool colored painting while on the right is the warm one. So let's read this. Two watercolor paintings showing cool and warm colors. The cool painting on the left is predominantly blue and green while the warm painting on the right is predominantly shades of orange and yellow. These two paintings serves as demonstration of how different the feelings are between the color temperatures. If you look at the two arts of Maige, there's a huge difference. The difference is emphasized by using of color. These cool colors which is based on blue undertones bring a calming effect to the mind. These colors range from cold icy blues to warm and nurturing blues. Mediterranean Turquoises. Blue represents dependability while warm colors which is based on yellow undertones tend to convey emotions ranging from happiness to violence. Red, orange and yellow colors triggers hunger. Red instantly attracts makes people excited and increases the heart rate. Abstract Expressionism, a style of art that has meant one of the main manifestations of the spirit of the 20th century. It emphasized the expressions of the self and emotions. are more violent and the content has a symbolic thing. So, this technique, if you notice in the example, by the word abstract, if we know that art is abstract, we don't really know We can understand it as abstract but it has a deeper meaning. So here, there's a term called violent. So you'll notice that it's confusing. You won't really understand it as wild. So that's what we call an abstract expressionism. Next, chromolithography. It's a prime example of a technique that was developed by Jules Charest. It's a method for making multicolor prints. This type of color printing stemmed from the process of lithography and includes all types of lithography that are printed in color. So here, this chromolithography came from... In lithography, lithography means stone, then graphe means writing. So, when you include writings in a stone, then you add chromo. Chromo, when you add it, it's just a method for making multicolor prints. You made the writing stone. So, in this example, In making chromolithography, it's a long process. If you're going to use 8 to 40 layers of colored stone, then it takes a long process to make it complete. That's the main idea. Surrealism was focused on tapping into the unconscious mind to release creativity. Surrealistic art is characterized by dreamlike visuals, the use of symbolism, and collage images. So here, these are the art techniques that are dreamlike visuals. The type that is possible to see in dreams. super surreal surreal super super surreal means unreal parang hindi makatotohanan so may kita niyo sa art na to itong parang gamit object na to na parang nawala ng buhay pero hindi naman ganyan yan na yuyup eh then eto naman nabukas yung ulo ng tao then parang Another idea here is that the other person's thought is alive and expressed into an art. Then next, favissim. Specific characteristics of favissim. are aggression in the use of colors, basically primary, complementary, along with garish tones and their autonomy in relation to shapes to create a sense of an explosion on the canvas. So, dito is... ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Cubism is a style of art which aims to show all the possible viewpoints of a person or an object all at once. It is called cubism because the items represented in the artwork look like they are made out of cubes and other geometrical shapes. So, ito yung example. From the word itself, from the root word of cubism, cube, galing sa mga cube is a 3D, 3-dimensional opposite. square so ganasasa geometry come up on sitting you it a moment I'm a momma shapes Cagana to general sma identify na in palais and could be seen gamit new momma shape new not a busia non-sum image image last issue antenna neoplasticism is based on two dimensionality use of straight lines and primary colors its objective is to divest itself the particular to manifest the purity of art. So this is to identify it 2D art then using straight lines possible without curves then primary colors that's how simple it is. So that's it, thank you very much I hope you learned a lot from this video and good day everyone
