a DJ tutorial for the first hour and then I'm going to go in the mix and guys I have well I just told you some absolute Tunes a bit Tangled here two seconds I'm so tangled [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay there we are what an absolute tune how's everyone doing we're getting into some tech chats today on um a really good sampler called the Pioneer DJ DJs 1000 which let me just uh get my everything up here so I can see what you guys are saying okay so what I'm going to do is I'm going to save if you have questions definitely feel free to put them in the chat that but I am going to run through it and then at the end I'm going to save some time for some questions and we can go through it but obviously I'll I'll run through it and if there's questions put them in the chat and I will try and answer as I go along but as I said at the end of the stream there will be time to ask some questions who of you in the chat has um a sampler who has the sampler put a little um what what just say yes in the chat I was trying to be I was trying to be Edy to say put a little Emoji if you have the sampler please put a yes in the chat if you're thinking of buying one put thinking of buying I don't know I love this sampler it's great um it is very tricky to sort of get your head around it I know a lot of people have told me it's quite overwhelming to uh first get get your head around it so I kind of want to go through the basics of what I do and how I import samples um and hopefully you will be able to understand a little bit more of what it does and it's actually pretty easy when you get your head around it so let's just dive straight into it um and yeah get going I'm just looking at the chat love the DJs 1000 thanks for putting on the stream you're so welcome yeah it is expensive it is very expensive but it is worth it um and you know you know if you've got the money then great if you don't then fine as well we've all got to start somewhere you know I remember starting on my secondhand eBay controller which I wish I never sold but yeah we all got to start somewhere right let me see if I can do this now look at my little um two seconds here we are come on let me just uh get it in view I have not done a detour in ages ages so uh bear with me whilst I try and uh get this good so you can sort of see it um I might have to bring this down a bit to get it a bit more clear I think but let's just sort of start like this grab your drinks guys get all sorted while I uh take ages to get myself into the flow I think I'm just going to run through it and then look at the chat because if I'm trying to do two million things it's not great let me just put this down a little bit two seconds there we are okay lovely stuff let me I wrote a few notes which are sporadic over the page so let me see if I can read some but if not I'm just going to talk at you firstly all of these pads are ways that you can import samples so if I just bring the fader up on my mixer which has which is um corresponding to this um sampler here as you can see all of this has different sounds in it and there is a program on um on an online I actually I think it's called tsp something most of you if you actually have a DJs 1000 do use this program that's what I actually would quite like to know no I need to get this chat off so it's easier for me let me see if I can move this chat I'm I'm sure there's an easier way but you guys know me so there's an app that you can use online but I don't use it and to be honest with you speaking to the Pioneer guys as well it's not the best online app the best way really to do it is to get your samples from whever you get them so if that's splice if that's loot Cloud if that's buying them from um any other um platform is if that's your own little sample packs whatever what you do is you drag your samples onto a USB now when you first get a USB you want to put it into this sampler and it's sort of like it reads the sampler and goes good you plug your USB into the DJs 1000 then you take your D your USB out and you plug your USB into your laptop and then on your laptop now it will read um I should have got a screenshot actually for you guys but on the USB there will be a folder called um well I don't actually remember what the folder is called but in the folders there'll be a little sample folder I should actually be changing it so you guys can actually see my uh my face really but there'll be here we go here we go so you can see me while I speak so there'll be a little gosh it's h here there'll be a little um samples folder within that USB made now because you've put the USB into the uh DJs 1000 and it's kind of redit software so now you're able to drag your samples over onto USB and if anyone has any problems of where to of of this part of the process then please um get involved in my Discord I will put some pictures up or message me on Instagram I try and get back to as many messages as possible but my Discord is a great place for us all to chat there's a little dj producer section and there's fun little sections as well so yeah get involved in Discord and if you've got any problems of dragging your samples onto the USB please do let me know but when you do that you can then put your USB into your DJs 1000 sampler and this is what is going to happen two seconds I'm going to swap the camera um here we are feel like I need to get you guys to see the screen a bit more this is a bit DIY but hey so so what we're going to do is in this um sampler it actually comes with a few um if I do create new project right so everything is blank here there's no samples in any of the pads what we can do now is we can import our samples so we've put got our USB with our samples on we want to click click on a pad and here we can do this little browse button and we can browse through um our samples and there's a really good um here can you see that I'm browsing it um I wish you could see a bit more of my screen but you basically here I'll just put these all down so it's you can see a bit more so we have samples internal and samples USB you probably can't see that too well but samples internal is what is in the Pioneer um DJ DJs 1000 already it actually comes with two um loot Master samples pack sample packs I believe and some really good samples in there so you can just start straight away you don't even need to first get your samples onto USB I was literally using it with these samples for a while before I um brought samples to to my USB cuz I was lazy um but you have samples USB so this is when what youve done putting your samples into the USB and I don't have many because I lost my last USB with all the samples in and all the packs so here I have made um some little folders now you just click on here to to pick and then you know the little dial it's oh there we go what is that it's uh pretty simple so you can go through through now this says unsupported file uh file format and before I move any further and guys if you've got any questions I'm I'm just talking at you first I will ask um if there's questions so I'm not ignoring you um but 44.1 khz is and 16 bits that is the type of file that this wants anything else it won't work and it has it's 64 seconds that this takes up anything longer than 64 seconds and it will not work so that is the maximum length of a sample that you can use so this one was probably longer um probably a big loop that I just dragged hoping that it would work but it didn't so yeah that was 44.1 khz 16 bits um and 64 seconds for the samples right okay so so basically you does anyone actually have any questions before I move any further okay I'm going to move on so what we do is we click a pad that we want to get the the sound on and I'm going to um you click a pad and you pick what song you want um what song what um sample you want so see if I wanted let's let's actually do this properly and make something here so let's start with a kick there we go so we've got our kick here this is a nice colored pad you can change all the colors of these pads as well um to your taste and I'm still figuring out the best way of doing it a lot of people say how do you um where do you put your samples like what direction some people put it as like like maybe percussion um you know folkal whatever stuff like that it's whatever is good to use so let's start with our kick there and let's then get actually let's start with a hat as well okay let's do that yeah let's do that one that's ni okay and then let get a clap so here you can see I'm just quick really easy to to import your samp [Music] POS putting them in random orders but hey ho here we go um let's get a loop so this is all samples let's get um like a Shaker Loop so I can show you how we work with that as well let's see percussion Loop oh yes tasty let's get this one because that one did have a kick in it I could take out the kick with um on here you can really edit all your samples but I'm just going to go for this cuz it's easier to show you okay right so these are nice colors but you can't see maybe if I turn the light down on this oh yes what's that better is that no that's not that viby oh well is what it is isn't it okay can you plug a master keyboard on it you can plug anything into uh into this um since keyboard yes I haven't actually tried a keyboard and I I want to um but yeah basically any since there's a midi output on the back that you can connect and on the manual that has all the connections so that's a really good one to read I know that's like telling you the obvious go read the manual but the uh manual has all the connections and what you can plug in it so that's really good um oh so here we go we've got our examples now what we want to do really and and that's let me just I'm just going to go on my notes and see what if so I'm not missing any anything um right let's let's start putting uh a beat down so here on the bottom is our step sequencer this is where all the magic happens and what we can do is this what's really great about this piece piece of Kit is that it links up with your other cdjs so what we can do is we can use the sink or we don't we might get some haters for the sink but really this is a great pie piece of kit for sink you do want to really use sink what you want to be doing is you want to be dejing and making sure that this is in time so you can you know put press play and you can start putting your groove on top of um when you're playing live and you don't need to fiddle with doing anything but it's totally up to you um basically here we have the same on a CDJ of our our Tempo um it looks like a CDJ doesn't it and acts like a CDJ and instead of using our jog Wheels to nudge into time we um nudge it with these two so these little buttons here to go back and to uh to go forward so when I press play we we start and we have one bar here and this is basically one bar two bar three bar four bar but here we at the moment we just have one bar and I'll explain about this um in a in a bit but basically two import samples we have I mean this might be really simple to some people um but we're you can't really see the red let me just here we go I think that's may be quite nice so here as you can see it plays what you you put in super super easy so H you know wherever you want to so and you you click on the pad and that's the sequence um I hope that sort of makes sense um let me just go on my notes and I'm going to what we can also do as well is you can have a metronome so like instead of just pressing play and it starting straight off we can actually have a metronome and and in here in our utility up here you can press down the utility and you can go down to the metronome metronome coun in which I actually don't really use it's really good because you can hear um this separately by putting your headphones there's a little headphone um Jack um input here and you can hear the metronome and then what you could do is you you could record your Beating because there's two ways of um entering your uh your Rhythm and your samp POS and it's by doing clicking your on your step sequencer like this or it's also using this record thing which is what I like to do so say I put it down a kick then if we wanted a hat which is um one of these samples we just go but that's holding the record so remember to turn record off um so if I was to do that it wouldn't record my beat but I I hope I'm explaining this okay guys and not just uh talking at you I'm just going to look in the chat um again but obviously um I think it's I just had to check if I think it's the wrong it's the wrong day what are you saying you can quantize as well um which is really good um okay right let me just move move on I'm trying to explain this as well as I can um so there we go but obviously you can hear that the Hat's quite loud and what's really good about this piece of Kit is that um at the top here um I wish you could see a little bit clearer I feel like my phone would have been quite a a good one to do but here we have um a mixer button and this is all um the pads that correspond um as you can see when I click that um hat you can see it there click that hat you can see it there and we can adjust the volumes of each sample by there's a little volume button here which we can um bring the volume down so um and you can do that on the fly as well but that's really good just to get your levels all um looking great because immediately just like it brings everything in so loud so yeah just getting these down so they're not peeking everything um so here we go in the mixer then as well what we can do is we can go into our samples so here um if you click on your sample here um let's go into um let's go into our Loop here if I click on the loop um you can basically go into amp envelope here which we can well we wouldn't really do that on a on a loop but you can you can basically change um the attack and the release of samples um by using um little knobs here and that changes the attack in the release and we can also go into play back here and we can shorten a sample so there's a start here um and we can start it from a different point or or the length we could just say oh I want it really short here that's all I want of the here so that's all it would play I'm just going to do the full loop for now so you can manipulate um the samples and that's really fun to do and as well well I'll I'll talk about um these in a second I'm not going to um okay so we have our um our Loop here our current project is at 120 let's Sy it 125 um so for example I've got a track on this um let's get a track what one should I get here we go this is good one so I've got a nice little beat and the best time that I like using the saer guys is like when lot loads is going on here maybe it's an intro maybe it's an outro maybe it's like a a build when I can like do a little performance you guys over on well my twitch fam know that you guys um I I love a good Bongo sample um I get my bonger racks out when the tribal afro house is on um so that's when I like to use it it's really good for putting little vocals and samples we we'll go over that in a second but our tracks playing Master it means we're all in sync and we basically I'm going to take away the samples so one when this plays with the samples [Music] to take away your pattern I'm sorry if I'm jumping around the shop but we input our patterns to take them away you can either just click them like that but the quicker way is pressing pattern and then you click the pad so pattern and then you click the pad and it takes it away can I reach my thumb that far no I can't so that's all that's all taken away so when I start playing a track on the other deck I would press this on at the same sort of time I do have metronome set up that's why I didn't go straight away um but ignore so that's going at the same time and I'm ready to um record my um my samples so I press record and my hat goes in [Music] we're not in the same Temple don't know why that didn't um oh this isn't Master that's why come on Amy [Music] [Music] [Music] see that's not recording if I want it to record [Music] it now with our shaker if I was just to play the Shaker now it's not in time so what we need to do with our Loop is we need to there's something here which is the time stretch and we do Master Temple um sorry that you can't really see the screen um I'm going to probably do some little um tutorials over my reals and Tik toks um so that might help but yeah um Master Temple there is a function here and that will then sink it to the time so when we have our beat it'll be in time we can change the pitch of samples which is really good if I had a synth and I want to change the pitch um to the same t uh the same uh key of my track but as well let's actually do that let's get a little synth in let's see what we have um what do we have what do we have right let me go on internal and see what loot Masters have for us we want a little let's go house uh synth hits right that'll do that'll do um so that's our beat now how can I explain this with how okay hopefully this is going to make sense this this track is playing and if I want to do a kick obviously we just go um actually I I just going to leave out what I was going to [Music] say okay so we can change the pitch of that but another really cool thing of this sampler is that we have a scale feature here which can take the one note and scale it and if you hold down and this is something I actually just figured out the other day um if you hold down well I I didn't just figure out the other day but I kind of Forgotten if you you have to hold these these buttons down to actually see what's happening on the screen um so hold the scale down if you just press scale um it still works but you're not seeing anything on the screen like for example me playing this is our sort of main view or the mixer might you might like but this is sort of the main view where you can see your samples and in here you can have them colorcoded and you can have them all nice looking good so you know what to press and like most of my twitch fam know I've never know where my samples are so it's an absolute Shambo but I do need to get better at file organization of this so you look you know where your samples are and then what was I going to say um you can then yeah here sorry scale you can you're not seeing what's happening and you don't need to see what's happening um but if you do you hold it down and we can have um we can actually scale [Music] the I'm sorry here we go using this that's really annoying using using this um little knob here that says area um it basically scales it higher and lower so there's like a range of notes that you can play from that one sample and that's a really really cool thing you can get loads of different um sounds and and and stuff from just one sample let me see if there's any um questions in the chat before I move forward and I also oh there might be ads I think there's ads sorry guys for the ads um that's just twitch or you can subscribe and then you don't have to get the ads but um hopefully you don't miss anything when I'm playing it are there any questions so far why did oh are there any questions so far I'm hearing music can you guys hear music I think it's playing from somewhere on my uh what what what platform is playing music of my this is very interesting I don't know it's gone now yes you have a question what was your question just in case you missed it can you only use this with cdjs or could I use this with my rx3 um that's a really good question I'm uh I'm I'm pretty sure you can use that with the with the rx3 um but I would have to I would have to double check um but I know it it does link up with like other gear as well Nexus gear um but I don't know I don't know about the RX but I could probably quickly find that out for you the first question I answered and I don't know Loop or longer samples how can you stop playback without stopping the whole sequence that's a really good question um you basically can't it just plays out or um that is interesting you asked that because that's something I have wondered too and I even spoke to the Pioneer guys this morning um with my questions and I didn't ask that one because I because I just assume that you can't because when you play the sample um it just needs to play out it is slightly annoying so for example um for people that let me I'm on this project now um I will go back to that um question to show everyone what you're talking about but unfortunately I don't think there is a way but if you leave that with me I will ask the Pioneer guys tomorrow um and I will put that into my Discord or message me on Instagram and I will try and reply but yeah I will get back back to you on that one I use mine with the X DJ XZ but I think you could you would have to give up a channel on the X3 so yeah I think you can use it with the RX um three or two whatever I would I would be shocked if you couldn't I love how this ring light is above my head um okay I'm gonna switch back I hope this isn't um over boring tacky chats we love it okay let's go let's go back we can also add swing um to um to our project as well that's an option to do to do that as well um which where was the swing again I don't actually really use the swing you know oh it's here I think it's in this sequence um just down here here you press sequence and you can just slightly nudge um precussion Loops is a good one to put a bit of a swing on or hats it's quite good to put a bit of Swing on so it just has a bit more of a human feel but like I don't really put that much swing on my stuff um but there is an option to do that which is really good uh let me just look at my notes and obviously with all your samples you can go in and you can cut up you can adjust the the attack and the release so if you had a really long clap sample which kind of was like we could just shorten it and goes um and cut that up I could show you but I'm just going to move kind of a bit faster on so I'm not just talking at you um side chain we can side chain as well so let's get maybe a base and show you that and then I can go into some of my projects as well okay let's just do that [Music] so so if I go into my base sample while by clicking it on the pad I can go into if you can see this here I can let's just also guys mute you can mute things by pressing mute which is really good so as you can see see and also to solo um it is shift mute shift and then you press the pad I'll do it with one hand oh I can't do it one hand sorry you don't hold mute you just hold shift but you've got to be on the mute function so and then shift again oh no it's not shift again well shift and press the pad on the mute function here we go and then you just press it to get off there we are come on Amy um so side chain um there's effects here and in the effects if we go into it we can add loads of different effects on to our uh sample I here we go I mean I'm not going to put it on the base um how do I how do I do my side chain again I press that and then oh my brain's gone blank that's our fact goodness me where's the side chain now I'm faffing well there is side chain and most of you probably know where it is I don't know why my brain's just and it's called a Ducker um and it's it's is there a Ducker on y there it is there oh my gosh cute right press your press your Ducker okay so sorry about that you go on your effects on your so your pads here corresponding to the screen you press the pad which is the the Bas pad um well has the base sample in it and then the effects there's a effects button and then you can go into Ducker and then what we do is we can press the we can select the track so there's a little source button we select um the kick is what we want um so we have to select um the channel which has the the kick on it and then it will duck it which is really good and then you can adjust the um the side chain on that and there's really there's some really good YouTube videos that actually go through this whole sampler um which I can send you and it's uh recorded and you can see it and a lot better than me trying to like describe this on the fly but um here I can sort of answer questions and show you what I do so I'm just going to try and run through this a bit quickly um rather than show you absolutely everything and then show you how I sort of use it um okay what where are we let's let's maybe open a project that I have done so you can sort of see um let's do here let's do this one okay [Music] so when you save uh a project as well you want to save it as a package so you basically get all your samples in so say had just made this um you want to do save as and then you um you know name it and you put it to a USB um and and save as a package you can also render audio um and render audio is really really great you can just click the master which will gives you the audio files so you can then take it to your uh da W and produce with the stems which is really awesome because you know you can make a a groove on here and and sometimes you know I'm making grooves on top of things and like remixing on the spot and it gives gives me really good ideas for original material so you could then take the stems and you could either have your master which you wouldn't really want to do I guess but you click on the uh tracks that you want so all of these pads I'm going to export as individual audio files and then I can take it to my Daw which is is really great um you can also I think you can sync over Ableton link you can definitely plug this in um to a to the can you to the data for you as well I don't think so but I really love this function I I haven't yet used it but I think that's just really great um when we have our when we have our Loop we have some functions up here and we have um hot slice and slice so we we've looked at scale and the scale was um one note and and scaling it in you know different pitches um hot slice is now remember you have to hold down this button to see what's happening and um hot slice is when it's slicing up the transients of the track um but it carries on playing so it plays it from different points of the track of the uh loop all sort of sounds the same all kind of sort of sounds the same on here but um this is really cool if you have loops and you can mess I was doing this actually in my last uh reel do is this the here maybe I can show you this will be better to second here we go so if I do hot slice for this um so it starts at from different points of the loop um and it carries on whereas slice uh doesn't carry on it just does the one little section of the trans in and then stops this is really good if you've got a loop and you love the different percussion sounds in it and you want to basically slice it off into the different transients and say okay I like this little one section so I'm going to record that into my uh sequence and if this was too long you can zoom in here and you can make it shorter so if I wanted to end have it a little bit shorter I just move the end and go so this is really good for like chopping up different loops and being really creative and seeing where you end up and with that as well we can use a scale and we can go all about the shop and get different different stuff there um so that's hot slice and and slice which you may or may not use they they're good for different sort of features um so do we have any questions so far that's kind of like how sort of to use it in a way right if we've got a a feet going we've got effects on here so we can have effects this is our effects um section and like the cdjs like pineer equipment you press on it flashes and then we get our effect high pass low pass some really nice filters on there DB echo which I really like um Pitch EO yeah not really much of a fan of that one pitch um little thigh come on man Reverb and pled Reverb so there you go and as well that's on all of the pads so the overall track but we can go in and we can press um if we wanted just the Reverb to go on say our clap which is this Loop here oh not this Loop this pad here then we go on to our effects oh let's see if I remember this cuz I know I just put it on all overall how do you put Reverb on everything [Music] again it's annoying that's annoying um well there is a way that you can basically press um Reverb on the Highlight the tracks um which it's gone out my brain right now but on that YouTube it does and you can basically just get your Reverb on your clap um on your samples but what I would say is make sure you got good samples to go in here in the first place you know um sometimes you might want to clap that has a bit of Reverb on it because I don't want to be putting all my effects on it and you can't so if I click on this here which is our clap we can put on effects here right so you've got an option to put it on the sample or you have your effects here um but this is you know you're putting on the effects and taking off whereas here I don't know if I've explained this that well but you can put here I'm putting a little bit delay on here and that is kept on the sample now I could just go back go away and and play my tune and every time I play that clap it's got that nice delay on it press on my clap and then press on my effects on the screen and then um mess around with the delay here I hope that makes sense um as I said like I'm going to do some videos for my reels and stuff where it's probably going to be described a little bit easier um and you can see the screen but you know the main thing is I want you guys to see what this does and um you know if it's how to do things there's such great YouTube tutorials out there and I can point you in the right directions to the ones which are great and if you've got any questions on how to do things then I'm always here to to answer them but yeah as I said like I really just want to show you what what kind of does what it can do and and and go from there and show you what I do which we'll get into in a second um okay moving on really quickly cuz I know the time is just flown by um we have our bars here at the bottom let me show you because I did not understand this for ages and I finally I finally got my head in the game with all this um and learned it a while back but basically the these are our bars and when I play I mean this is maybe going a bit too much for people because you this is would this be helpful to go through this actually guys the this part probably would because I know some of you guys do have this um shift pattern and then you can press I'll just show [Music] you that's two bars now that's three bars and that's four bars so we can go back to one or we can do four bars so you can make your your pattern four bars long um right now that's just the one bar um now this is four bars that's playing so you can do all sorts of different things um over that amount of time and as well um there's if I go on to pattern now this is kind of confusing I'm going to try and explain this like what's not that confusing can you see the screen oh gosh does anyone want me to talk over this um this pattern and scene part would that be helpful let me just go into the chat box um where is the chat where's the chat I've lost the chat actually lost the chat guys what's happening right I'm back okay so basically scene is your song right think of it as that so that's one song here and then you've got 16 scenes so just think of that as 16 songs that's 16 different songs that I could have and the pattern section is the different patterns in one song so for example we're on pattern one how can I so this is the what we just made up and we have it going four bars in [Music] length if I click pattern maybe I'll do this with um um uh project which is already an internal because that's really good to explain it I'm hopefully I'll explain this well because I literally just I understood this really well but how I can explain it we'll see if my brain will work I feel like it's I've been focusing so much on trying to completely get this all prepped okay so pattern come on let's see [Music] okay I think I know um pattern is basically so what we have here when we create um something like four say we wanted a four bar this is pattern one okay let me try and explain it well this is pattern one that we've just made with all our samples and we've got it going for four bars in length with our shift pattern and we've chosen four bars now we want something different okay it's still the same song but we want to maybe have a a pattern where the kick comes out and it goes you know then we have a little breakdown and then we want to the kick to come back in so what we might do is we take out the kick on one of the patterns um if you whole if you do you know what I think I'm not explaining this that well and I'm going to do a little reel on it um but basically you can do this um how many times so many times I'm I haven't explained that well I'm sorry I have not explained that well at all so I'm going to do a little reel on that or something on that um or a video or I can send the video um I just I would really like to explain that cuz I really just understood it really well today basically the the best thing to know is that's your songs on the left and patterns is the the different um samples that you can have in one song Oh I don't think that makes that much sense I'm going to move on I'm going to move on I did understand it but I can't just subcribe it welcome to Q&A with Amy a tutorial um if you would if you're struggling on that then please actually message me and I can do a little voice message to you or I can do a video I going to move on because we're very short for time um and I want to show you what I do and answer some questions so I'm just going to show you an example of like what I would maybe do and is there any other features that I haven't really discussed on here here we have um our touch strip which is great to make snare rolls um if I just go on to this project if we have a snare um there's a repeat mold which we can repeat a snare there's a pitch mod on it as well which you can adjust the pitch and you can um put your finger up like this um just watch this so kind of cool um still trying to can't get over that can tell you about that pattern thing um [Music] right let's clear all of these pads like clicking pattern and you can't just clear the all the full project I did ask that today cuz I find it a bit stupid when you're just touching all the pads it's kind of annoying but um if anyone knows a way that you can just uh clear all the pads let me know but I don't think there is so [Music] um [Music] what do we have [Music] here that was just muted hot [Music] slice also if I'm playing and I want to adjust a pad so for example I would want if I wanted to put something onto the clap you wouldn't want to click the clap cuz it would play out to the audience you click on the clap here and that will get you to the pad so then we can put our delay on [Music] it so for example if I wanted to take my um Mel syn here and I wanted to put it on hot slice what I would do is I would click on the synth loop on the screen I would press my hot slice I can record it in [Music] snare roll instead of I could click that that gets me onto the [Music] snare you don't [Music] really oh need to do repeat and everything's called tized as well which is really great it's all going to be in [Music] time and then well I wouldn't record that in I wouldn't record the snow roll in but then we can add all sorts of stuff in it so that's sort of a way um to do it I could show you on a vocal some cool things as well I'm going to see if there's any questions as I know that we're running slightly over are there any questions um that I can answer what's your process for selecting samples why do you select the ones you do literally my biggest advice for selecting samples is just like Chuck a bunch of samples on your USB and the magic happens here when you're creating the stuff and what I'll do is I'll just go in I'll just pick any kick that I like pick any hats I like um pick any you know percussion whether that's Bongos or whether you guys know I love a good Bongo but a base um a loop but say I want to make the loop shorter you could just click on the loop and you go into your playback and here I could adjust the length of it so now um someone asked me earlier um if you guys remember it was about the playing back Loop sort of um thing and I forgot who it was sorry um on the chat but if you're still here um I'm thinking what you you meant was if I was playing this project and you have a Loop and you press that Loop how do you get that to stop is that was that the question you have to sort of let it um play out press pattern and delete but you you have't you haven't recorded in but because it's a loop it has to play out the full loop it's kind of annoying um so yeah just just pick loads of loads of samples and then when you're playing you'll you can change it um and I actually there's a a sampling so what you can do as well which is really great with this um sampler is that I forgot to even tell you guys about this there's a sampling section here which what we could do is we play um whatever we're playing on our cdjs we can record the audio and it goes into our sampler basically so for example why don't we do I show you um really quickly dunun what should I do what should I do let's do something fun oh I might do what I'm I might do what I'm going to start today's mix on if I can find should I okay I am right in the beginning was Jack and Jack had a groove and from this Gro came the of all gr I was going to show you all the deck one so we have an AC capella here on this deck right what I'm going to do is I'm going to put I'm going to get a nice sort of Melody on this deck and then I'm going to make a beat over it as well and I'm going to sample one of my decks I could sample the vocal but maybe I'm going to sample this I'm going to get this I'll explain it so this is on one deck what I can do is samp if you press sampling you can record what's happening so here you can do different bar lengths so I could record for four eight bars 16 bars let's just do four and if I press record it records it it records it it records it and it plays it back straight away it um got my voice in it as well so that's really great if you've got a Groove playing and you want to get your groove onto this it could be a percussion it could be the whole track it could be a vocal um onto your sampler so that's recorded um obviously my uh in Parts but I feel like I've I've gone through uh most of the um functions on this how I use it um is yeah lots of different percussion sounds and vocals are really great too on it um just messing about with and I think as well just just drag a bunch of samples onto USB and then just have some fun and play over like your kicks and um your intros and and outros of a track I love having a Groove sort of here and then adding on top of a Groove I think that's the best sort of way to have it uh when you're playing live really or you could have like here when I had just more Melody then you can put your kicks in and stuff but you don't really want to be l ing kicks um especially in a DJ set when you've got everything working I guess you could take the kick you could filter the kick and then bring your own um sample kick in but I don't really have loads of kicks on on here it dep you can do everything it depends what you want to do I guess um can you import stems from existing tracks in recer box stems from existing tracks in recer box trying to understand um what exactly you mean by that stem stems of existing track you can if you've got a track that you've made you can bounce out stems um as samples basically there's a really good YouTube tutorial on basically how you'd take your own track and put it in as samples by cutting up your kick and your claps and your your percussion and your vocals and making into a project I don't know if that was your your question but you can take stems and cut them up and put them in here but um I don't know what what you meant by record box any other questions yeah it uses USB so yeah make sure to back up I think so I think it is that anyway I'm pretty sure you can't save it onto the project and I can ask that cuz that's a really good question but I'm uh pretty sure you can't um you can't save it on to the the decks and I'm pretty pry positive you can't I'm 99% positive so don't lose the USB who else any more questions seeing some familiar probably going to do I keep banging to this ring light I'm gonna probably do one where you can see my hands and me doing the mixing on the spot I actually need to plan out my samples as I said I lost my USB which had all my projects and samples in it which is really annoying um but if I have a you know a good few days to put some stuff together I want to do a performance where you can sort of see my hands and um it would be good to talk as well and explain what I'm doing so I might do something like that like a bit more of something like that if that would be helpful I'm definitely ke to do more Q&A sort of things if it's helpful um I always like helping out because I know it's just it's not fun when you're sitting about trying to work out the same things and you're going around in circles um but stick with this piece of Kit if you've got it like I know it's takes your head bit of head to get around bit to whatever the saying is um but yeah is there any last questions before I leave you all and I am going to start doing a mix for you what I am going to do is I'm going to just take 10 minutes to reset the studio get this ring light back into its position um and yeah start would it be the deck what what deck is 400 is that what I don't know what you mean the deck that I love oh Pioneer DJ D dj400 wait I need to type it in I need to type it in because I've never been on one but I let me just see because I love the RX to are the RX um three I think there's one out now I just it's basically cdjs as a all in one piece of Kit um the RX 2 is is what I have um I think they are amazing I think everyone should get that if they're not going to get um CDJ equipment and CDJ like this this stuff is expensive so um the other stuff does the exact same job I would definitely recommend that piece of Kit um any other questions I've lost the chat box also guys you when you sample as well you can like I want to try it you can like plug in your iPad and stuff and I want to start I think that would be fun you can plug in your iPad you can plug in a synth I've got a synth over here somewhere that I'm going to start using as well and keyboard I'd love to do that um I've kind of wanted to make something big to go along with such an iconic vocal so it's a very well have a little listen see what you think I want it to make it deeper a bit more melodic and here's what
