University Park - Living Learning Communities (LLCs)

Overview

  • LLCs provide students an opportunity to live and learn with classmates sharing similar interests.
  • Activities include field trips, group dinners, and educational programs.
  • Students build strong relationships with peers, faculty, and staff.
  • Learning is both encouraged and celebrated.

For Incoming First-Year Students

  • Learn how to request an LLC as an HFS Contract preference.
  • Some LLCs require a secondary application.

For Current LLC Members

  • Review LLC Housing Process guidelines for returning to the living environment.

Participation Without Residency

  • Some LLCs allow non-resident students to participate in activities.

Specific Living Learning Communities

Ally House

  • Location: West Housing Area
  • Focuses on an inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ and ally students.
  • Partners with the Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity.

Arts and Architecture House

  • Location: Leete Hall, North Housing Area
  • Designed for art-related majors; involves interactions with faculty and field trips.
  • Facilities include communal kitchen, art studio, and music practice rooms.

Biology Home (BIOME)

  • Location: Shulze Hall, Pollock Housing Area
  • Supports biology majors with study groups and social activities.

Break Access/Holiday Housing

  • Offered during official academic break periods.
  • Allows students to stay on campus during breaks with an additional fee.

Business and Society House (BASH)

  • Location: Holmes Hall, North Housing Area
  • For students in the Smeal College of Business; offers professional and social opportunities.

Earth and Mineral Sciences House (EMS)
