The Stomach Meridian Acupoints Part 1

Introduction

Overview

  • Stomach Meridian: Second longest in the body with 45 points (bilateral)
  • Part 1: Points ST1 to ST30
  • Part 2: Points ST31 to ST45 (Link in video description)

Characteristics and Pathway

  • Foot Yang Ming Meridian
  • Most active from 7 to 9 a.m.
  • Main and several branch pathways
    • Main Pathway: Starts at side of the nose โ†’ up to eye (ST1) โ†’ down to jaw โ†’ up along ear to head
    • First Branch: Side of neck (ST5) โ†’ into supraclavicular fossa โ†’ stomach & spleen organs
    • Second Branch: Supraclavicular fossa โ†’ down trunk โ†’ thigh โ†’ 2nd toe
    • Third Branch: ST42 on foot dorsum โ†’ big toe (connects to SP1)
    • Extra Branch: From ST36 โ†’ 3rd toe

Key Points and Their Functions (ST1-ST30)

Face and Neck (ST1 to ST11)

  1. ST1: Located between eyeball & infraorbital ridge (dangerous to needle) - Eye problems (e.g. twitching, red eyes)
  2. ST2: Infraorbital foramen below pupil - Facial paralysis, Bell's palsy, eye conditions
  3. ST3: Elanazi level - Similar functions to ST1 & ST2
  4. ST4: 0.5 cun from mouth corner - Similar functions to ST1 & ST2
  5. ST5: Anterior to masseter - Jaw issues, toothache
  6. ST6: Masseter bulge (clench jaw) - PTSD (Ghost Point), jaw issues, Bell's palsy
  7. ST7: Anterior to ear (open mouth) - Trigeminal neuralgia, Bell's palsy
  8. ST8: 4.5 cun lateral to midline - Migraines
  9. ST9: Anterior to SCM at laryngeal prominence - High BP, thyroid issues
  10. ST10: Between ST9 & ST11 - Similar to ST9 & ST11
  11. ST11: Between sternal & clavicle heads of SCM - Similar to ST9, throat issues

Chest (ST12 to ST18)

  1. ST12: Supraclavicular fossa (not used in pregnancy) - Local complaints
  2. ST13: Below clavicle - Local chest issues
  3. ST14: 1st intercostal space - Local chest issues
  4. ST15: 2nd intercostal space - Local chest issues
  5. ST16: 3rd intercostal space - Local chest issues
  6. ST17: 4th intercostal space (no needle) - Landmark
  7. ST18: 5th intercostal space - Lactation problems, mastitis

Abdomen (ST19 to ST30)

  1. ST19: 6 cun above ST25 - Upper digestive issues
  2. ST20: 5 cun above ST25 - Upper digestive issues
  3. ST21: 4 cun above ST25 (level with Ren 12) - Upper digestive issues
  4. ST22: 3 cun above ST25 - Upper digestive issues
  5. ST23: 2 cun above ST25 - Upper digestive issues
  6. ST24: 1 cun above ST25 - Upper digestive issues
  7. ST25: 2 cun lateral to umbilicus (Front Mu of Large Intestine) - Digestive issues (e.g. IBS, constipation, diarrhea), part of "Digestive Diamond"
  8. ST26: 1 cun below umbilicus - Cold in uterus
  9. ST27: 2 cun below umbilicus - Male reproductive issues
  10. ST28: 3 cun below umbilicus - Urinary issues, UTI
  11. ST29: 4 cun below umbilicus - Fertility, menstruation, ovary stimulation
  12. ST30: Pubic symphysis level - Hernia pain

Summary

  • Face/Neck Points: Main use for Bellโ€™s palsy, facial paralysis, eye conditions, jaw issues
  • Chest Points: Local chest pain, lactation issues
  • Abdomen Points: Digestive issues, male & female reproductive issues, urinary concerns
