what's up guys i'm random frank p and today we're gonna be checking out a brand new mouse from logitech that is long overdue let's say we're gonna be reviewing logitech g604 mmo and moba wireless gaming mouse as you can see we got buttons on the side 15 programmable buttons in total here and this is a follow up from the very popular fan favorite g602 from 2013 i want to say so needless to say people are very pumped for this we'll go over it all for you guys what i like about it what i don't like about it my experience in case you're interested in picking out the new g604 starting off like i said with this mouse it is merely targeted for those mmo or moba players because you do have all those buttons here but i mean obviously you're not just limited to those genres you could use this really for whatever you want and when i got it in and got it all unboxed my first real thought was in terms of the design language this is the culmination of three popular logitech mice from over the years it does still look very similar to the g602 it also kind of brings in the design of the g502 and even things like the mx master mouse series it is an ergonomic design you can see on the right side you have grooves to fit your ring and pinky finger and on the left side you have that fin sticking out for your thumb to sit you can see it has a slight texture in the middle and onto both of the sides and that is slightly rubberized to give you a better grip so a sleeker 2019 look for sure and as you've noticed there's no rgb that'll obviously help save battery as well but as for those 15 buttons literally everything here is reprogrammable you obviously have your left and right clicks the scroll wheel which clicks in left and right as well below that is a button to toggle on the hyper scroll for the mouse then is the wireless slash bluetooth connection button then on the side of the left click is a plus and minus that's for changing dpi then you have these six left side buttons right above your thumb these are labeled g4 through g9 and again while gamers can make these macros and stuff for in-game functions obviously with photo editing video editing pretty much any other program you want you could set them to these buttons and quickly and easily reach them with the muscle memory since they are going to be sitting right above your thumb how about a little sound test for you definitely some rattle from that scroll wheel checking out the rest of the physical features the bottom portion of the mouse has this magnetic door that comes off that's where the wireless dongle sits when you're not using it as well as the battery to give this that wireless power on the bottom is the 16 000 hero sensor yes this does have the hero sensor inside maybe a bit overkill for the type of mouse this is but hey at least it's got it get the power button here as well and the four ptfe feet so two important things i want to talk about before we move on to the rest of the review uh first up since the battery does sit inside here you are gonna be adding some weight with that in total on my scale it is a 138 grams 108 grams without the battery uh but obviously you need to use the battery here the double a battery to power this you could probably get away with using a aaa battery one of those converters to cut down a little bit of grams um but with that said again for an mmo or moba mouse you're not going to be needing it to really be too lightweight i know we're in that craze of lightweight gaming mice uh mainly for fps mice but again moba mmos you're not going to really need a real lightweight mouse so i don't think that's too big of a concern but the second thing in the advantage of having the 16k hero sensor you do get the benefits of the low power and with the battery inside this is up good up to 240 hours which is crazy good and in case you want to use this just powered over bluetooth you can get over five months so that's pretty nuts okay so now that you have the main feature run down on the specs in terms of using it um honestly i was someone who used the g600 for a while which is also another mmo mouse but i mainly use that for photo and video editing and even back in college when this came out i did use a g602 for a while so picking this up it really wasn't that tough to adjust to this again because i'm so used to using a g602 the ge502 and it is all pretty similar design like you've seen and it did feel really good now i'm not somebody who does play mobas or mmos i'm primarily an fps gamer so that's what i played with this i got this on the last day of the call of duty beta so i played that until the beta ran out and i really had no issues now yes i could tell that it is much heavier than the mice i'm used to but to keep stressing it this isn't really made for fps games you're not going to really need all those 15 programmable buttons for an fps game i mean sure you could but again it's not really made for that and the weight wasn't too much of an issue for me because again g502 fan over here but for the people who need all those programmable buttons and you've been waiting for a new refresh i'm pretty excited with the final result that logitech has for us now now one thing i want to point out is on the bottom of the mouse the way they have the four feet in the corners you can kind of tell that it sticks out and it's slightly elevated as you can see it's not a big deal but when i was gaming i noticed that this is going to be better on certain surfaces versus other ones so for example on my main setup i use the madcatz glide 38 which is like a slightly rubberized kind of harder surface versus a cloth mouse pad and i'm not saying it's not you know compatible with that but it definitely didn't give the best experience with their ptfe feet on here i'll give you a little sound test now so you can hear the difference in the scratchiness versus a cloth mouse pad so it is something to do with this particular blend of teflon they used for the feet because even as you just heard with my g502 that was fine and it felt a lot more smooth on my glide 38 versus this so this is mainly going to be used best for a user experience on a cloth mouse pad so just want to throw that out there now one of the benefits you also get with this version versus the old g602 is their hyper scroll wheel when you have it off it does have those uh tactile individual steps that you could feel when you're scrolling or you can enable the hyper scroll and it'll go for a few seconds i think adding this is definitely a nice advantage uh yes it's gonna contribute to that weight a little bit but hyperscroll is definitely a really awesome feature to have on a mouse and you don't really notice it until you use a mouse that doesn't have this and then lastly we could talk about software and i know people you know hate software portion of reviews and it always changes person to person because some for some people the software could be laggy and terrible for some other people like me i never really have any issues with logistics software but in here is where you can go and set your dpi and stuff for the certain ranges you want on the mouse which you can toggle quickly between with the plus and minus shifting buttons then obviously you have the full control to change up every button on this mouse and there's really no limitations from you know numerous keystrokes system functions for volume and stuff even you can assign different profiles to certain games so if you want to have you know something for final fantasy or certain functions and macros for photoshop you can set all that and it'll switch depending on what program you have up it's all pretty self-explanatory and like i said me personally i haven't had any issues with the software the only thing i will say about that is you can only really see the remaining battery life on the dashboard of the software really where it shows you what devices you have connected um i wish that was like you could see that inside the software at all times when you're under the g604s menu um so bringing it all together now quickly recapping the pros and cons for 99 you are getting a very solid mouse with great features so like i said before a 16k hero sensor a bit overkill for the type of mouse this is but you have that flexibility and you're helping save battery life with the power consumption you have with the hero sensor 240 hours is crazy let alone the five plus months if you use this over bluetooth um i just connected this over the wireless dongle that it has so i didn't really test it over bluetooth because i don't need to but you do have that flexibility again to switch the press of a button using it over to systems if you want so you can have the dongle on your pc bluetooth to a laptop and then quickly switch with one button the hyperscroll definitely a nice addition and goes without saying but all the buttons 15 programmable buttons is crazy but that's what this mask is all about and just to kind of bring up that one con which was my only real complaint is the fact that this is primarily going to be used best on a cloth mouse pad i'm sure 95 percent of people out there already have a cloth mouse pad uh but for me on my desk setup behind me with my glide 38 rubberized surface it just didn't give me the best experience um but yeah you could always maybe swap these out with you know um third-party skates come available and stuff but again this isn't really made for the quick fast movements like you would need a glide 38 for not really for fps players so mmo gamers moba gamers rejoice you have a 2019 refresh to the extremely popular g602 and uh for what this is in a total package for a hundred dollars the g604 i think is outstanding and guys i'll wrap it up for my review of the logitech g604 hope you all enjoyed if you want to check it out i'll put a link for you in the description down below if
