hello everyone today in this video we are going to learn how to add integers using number line so i have written few examples here this is from class 6 ncert book so let's start with our first example here we have to add 9 with negative 6 so first we'll mark 0 on our number line and we'll make 9 divisions on the positive side 2 start adding 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 so this is 9 so this is our first number 9 we we'll make an arrow here because we are moving in positive direction and we have taken number nine now we have to to add negative six that means we have to go six steps on the other side now negative 6 means we have to go on the opposite side so we will go one two three four five six so from here we will go on the opposite side we have to make an arrow on this side this is nine and this is six so now this is the point where we have to stop and this is the point which is our answer so here we will count the divisions now 1 2 3 our answer here is 3 positive 3 is our answer this is our first one now we will add the second one we will do the second one first we have to take number five so we are going to mark our 0 here and take 5 divisions on this side so this is 5 so we will move on the positive side because it is plus 5 and then we have to do minus 11 so we are going to move 11 divisions on the other side from here we will start counting 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 so we'll stop here this is on the negative side so we have to count this point from 0 to this point so this is minus 1 minus 2 minus 3 minus 4 minus 5 minus 6 so our answer is negative 6 this is our second one so the next one is both are negative numbers so first i'll make mark 0 here and then we have to take negative 1 first so i'm going to take negative 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 then i'll make some divisions here so this is negative 1 and now we have to add negative seven so we are going to move on in the same direction seven steps so one you can move from like this one step at a time but i am going to move directly by counting from here one two 3 4 5 6 7. so i'm going to stop here now this is our resultant point where we have to stop so i'll count the divisions from zero so this is negative one two three four five six seven eight so this is our negative eight so our result or the answer is negative eight this is the third one so negative seven and negative one will give us negative eight the next one is negative five or minus five so first we'll take minus five on the negative side of the number line so this is minus five this is zero so minus 5 first we'll move from here to here minus 5 and then we have to add 10 i'll make some divisions here on the other side now we are going to add 10 10 means we have to move to the right hand side or on the positive side because it is positive 10 so 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10. we'll stop here and it is on the opposite direction so we will make the arrows so we will now count from 0 to the resultant point 0 1 2 3 4 5 sir is 5 so this is our fourth one answer is 5. the next one is all on the negative side so first i'll mark 0 i'll make some divisions first and then we'll start adding the numbers so first we have to take negative 1 so i will take negative 1 here and then on the same side we have to add negative 2 so i will move from here i will take 2 divisions 1 2 so next one is here this is negative 2 negative 2 negative 1 and the next one is negative 3 so 1 2 3 so this one is negative 3 i'll stop here and we'll check the divisions from 0 how much division how much we have moved on the negative side so 1 2 3 4 5 6. so this is negative 6 so answer is negative 6 this is how you move and add numbers on the number line let me write the numbers on top of these lines too so this is 5 and this is negative 11 negative 7 negative 1 this is negative 5 this is plus 10 and this i have already written now now we'll do the last one so answer here is negative 6 the last one is i have marked the divisions and then we'll start with negative 2 so 1 2 so this is negative 2 then plus 8 so from negative 2 here is our resultant so we will count from here 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8. so we'll come from here to here this is plus 8 and then from here we have to add negative four so negative four is one two three four so we'll come come on the other direction four divisions on the other direction so we will stop here now we can count the points from zero so zero one two so our result is positive 2 so our answer is 2 and this is how we add numbers on the number line
