Applying RockTape Kinesiology Tape to the Lower Back
Materials Needed
2 inch RockTape Kinesiology Tape
Optional: 4 inch wide tape for additional support
Steps to Apply Tape
Preparation
Measure and Cut Tape:
Measure from the belt line up to mid-back and cut two strips of this length.
Measure a third strip from one hip to the other across the lower back.
Round the ends of all strips to prevent catching on clothing or gear.
Stretch the Skin:
Bend at the hips and use a sturdy surface for support to stretch the skin on your lower back.
Application
First Strip:
Tear one end and anchor it at the belt line on one side of the spine, pointing up.
Pull away the release paper and apply the tape straight up.
Second Strip:
Repeat the first strip application on the opposite side of the spine, parallel to the first.
Third Strip:
Tear the center of the tape to expose the adhesive.
Apply with a slight stretch to the painful area, perpendicular to the first two strips.
Lay down the ends with no stretch and rub to activate the adhesive.
Optional:
Use a 4 inch wide tape as the horizontal strip for additional support.
