Shooting Techniques in Football

Overview

  • Tutorial on various shooting techniques
  • Presented in slow motion
  • Techniques covered: PO shot, curve shot, Trava, knuckleball, and swerve

The Power Shot

  • Essential for long-range shots
  • Steps:
    • Line up at a slight angle to your target
    • Place your plant foot a little in front of the ball
    • Use the top of your foot to strike through the center of the ball
    • Lean your upper body to the side to prevent your toe from hitting the ground

The Knuckleball

  • Moves unpredictably, making it hard for goalkeepers to anticipate
  • Steps:
    • Run up at a slightly straighter angle than for a power shot
    • Plant foot next to the ball
    • Strike just under the center of the ball
    • Stop follow-through immediately to reduce spin
  • Key Tips:
    • Less follow-through = less spin = more movement in the air
    • Personal tip: Plant foot slightly farther back

The Curve Shot

  • Spins the ball to curve in the air
  • Steps:
    • Line up at a sharper angle than for a knuckleball or power shot
    • Plant foot next to the ball
    • Use the inside of your foot and laces to strike upward along the back of the ball

The Trava

  • Another way to curve the ball using the outside of the foot
  • Steps:
    • Line up with body slightly away from target
    • Plant foot a bit behind the ball
    • Use the top outside part of the foot to strike along the side of the ball
  • Notes:
    • Harder to get power compared to the traditional curve
    • Useful for quick hits when the ball is on the outside of your foot

The Swerve

  • For harder shots with outside curve
  • Steps:
    • Face slightly away from target
    • Plant foot in front of the ball
    • Use the top of your foot to strike across the back of the ball

Conclusion

  • Mastering these techniques can significantly improve your shooting skills
