Notes on Load Cell Testing
Introduction
Importance of load cell in electrical scales
Proper functioning is crucial for accurate weight measurement
Overview of the video: Simple test for load cells
Preparation for Testing
Have the load cell calibration certificate ready
Refer to the wiring diagram
Pay attention to cable color codes
Note output impedance and input impedance
Compare measurement values with calibration certificate post-testing
Testing Procedure
1. Setup
Prepare a multimeter
Measure resistance across input and output
Signal wires = Output
Excitation wires = Input
2. Measuring Output Resistance
Connect multimeter between positive and negative signal wires (green and white leads)
Expected output resistance:
Should be close to 350 ohms
Example reading: 353 ohms (acceptable)
3. Measuring Input Resistance
Measure between positive excitation wire (red) and negative excitation wire (black)
Expected input resistance:
Should be around 435 ohms
Example reading: 439.7 ohms (acceptable)
4. Testing Load Cell Accuracy
Need a multimeter and voltage source (use load cell controller)
Connect controller to a 220 volts AC source
Supply 10 volts DC excitation voltage across input leads
Measure millivolt signal across signal wires (gray and white wires)
Expected value with no force applied: 0 mV
Apply calibrated weight and compare output voltage with specified value in the calibration certificate
Conclusion
If measurements match specifications, load cell is functioning correctly
