Salanio and Salerino, Lorenzo's friends, are discussing the rumor that Antonio has apparently lost one of his ships out at sea. Meanwhile, Shillock has also run into some bad luck. His daughter just ran away, stealing thousands of gold coins from him. Shillock then reminds everyone that if Antonio can't pay back the 3,000 duckets or gold coins, then Shillock will legally take a pound of Antonio's flesh. A deal is a deal. Solanio and Salerino ask Shillock what he wants a pound of flesh for, and Shillock says that claiming the bond of the flesh will feed his revenge. Intense. But then in a fantastic speech, Shillock claims his right as a human being to be treated the same as a Christian. Christians have always treated Shillock badly. It's only natural that he wants some revenge. Hey team, just a reminder, if you like this video, please hit the subscribe button and ring the notification bell. After Salanio and Salerino leave, Shillock talks with his friend Tubil. Shillock complains angrily about all the money he has lost. Then Tubil cheers him up. The rumor is true. Antonio's ships have been lost at sea. Shillock gets ready to take Antonio to court. It's payback time. Meanwhile, Basanio has arrived in Belmont. He really wants to marry Porsche, but he must take his chances on choosing between three caskets to win her. In either the gold or the silver or the lead casket is a portrait of Porsche. If any man guesses wrongly, he fails and can never marry. Remember, the prince of Morocco chose the gold casket and the prince of Aragon chose the silver casket. And guess what? Basanio chooses the lead. His choice is correct. And to Porsche's absolute joy, they can marry. As a token of her love, Porsche gives Basanio a ring, telling him never to take it off. He swears that only death will part the ring from him. Then Basanio's friend Graciano pipes up and says he's fallen in love with Porsche's servant Narissa. It seems like happy days are ahead. But just before anyone can say I do, Lorenzo and his new wife Jessica arrive with a letter from Antonio. Unfortunately, every single one of Antonio's ships has been lost at sea. Antonio is broke and owes Shillock a pound of flesh. Luckily, the wealthy Porsche immediately offers to step in and pay back the owed amount of 3,000 duckets. So, Basanio hurriedly leaves for Venice, hoping to save his friend. However, Shillock wants revenge, not money. Antonio is in real trouble. Back in Venice, Antonio begs Shillock to listen to him, and we see how nasty Shillock really is. Shillock says repeatedly and stubbornly, "I will have my bond." As the bond is a pound of flesh, Shillock is saying that he wants to murder Antonio. Despairing, Antonio says he has no hope of being let off the hook as the law cannot be changed to help him. In Belmont, Porsche has devised a plan. She asks Lorenzo and Jessica to look after her house so she and Narissa can go on a prayer retreat. Privately, she tells Narissa that in reality, they are going to dress as men and pay a visit to their husbands in Venice. Later, Lancelot jokes to Jessica that she will end up in hell because she is a Jew. Jessica refuts this by saying she is saved because she has married a Christian. Then Lancelot makes a joke about the price of pork rising if Jews convert to Christianity because Jewish people do not eat pork. The characters continue to banter together as the act draws to a close. We hope you enjoyed this schooling online production.
