in this video I'll be checking out the aoto cb6 carplay AI box this is an Android 13 AI box packing a 6115 chipset comes with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage so may not be the most powerful AI box that you can buy right now it does have one unique selling point and that's its Drive chat a chat GPT based assistant for use in your own car all right that's a brief summary let's check out what comes Inside the Box okay so here's what you get inside the Box you get a paper instruction manual and warranty online support there's 800 megabyte trial plan of a internal SIM card you get the aoto cb6 adapter itself and you get three ways to power the adapter you've got one USB a to c one USB C to C for more modern carplay ports in the car and you also get a pass through power cable to supply an additional power to the adapter if you have a car that doesn't sufficiently offer the amount of power that this adapter may need okay so looking over the adapter then you've got a round mostly round uh casing it's quite unique it's quite a bit different to most other cases that we've seen from other brands it's a slight textured pattern on top your too branding there is a LED ring that can be colorized to your car interior on top underneath you got passive Cooling and there is a carplay to Android auto switch there so you you can also use this adapter on the Android protocol as well as carplay around the outside there is also passive Cooling and then you've got a SIM card slot and a TF card slot you got a USB C to power the adapter and some status indicator lights there to let you know that everything's up and running and operational okay so that's a quick overview of the adapter let's jump in the car now and see how well this performs so I'll see you there right in the Cooper born and we've got the CV six here ready to get plugged in we're going to get this connected and see how quickly it takes to boot up connecting now okay now we're into the main menu system took a little while to load up all the various widgets and panels but now we're into the main menu now depending on the screen resolution that you've got in your actual car your display might vary on a lower resolution it gets R of these two panels here and you mostly see these ones here but I've got quite a large high resolution display here in the cpra and we've got a speed indicator we've got some shortcuts here to some necessary apps now I have filled it with internet and a couple of apps so it's already picking up our location with a weather widget which is really nice to see and we've got a couple of short cuts to toggle Bluetooth on and off not quite sure what this one is actually used for I'll put that down below if I do find that out but you got nice access to turn the Wi-Fi on and off show you want to toggle between carplay Wireless and Android auto Wireless or the actual function of using Wi-Fi for an internet connection instead if you don't put in a SIM card now we got a Maps widget which you can probably customize like any other AI box to play a different app you got the last four used apps with time and some more status indicator lights for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth here is basically a toggle between home screen and the app screen and here you got 18 icons on this particular display you'll probably get about that much on a smaller resolution display and um all the apps here are mostly pre-installed there's only a couple that I've installed myself but you got tix to pre-installed sound houd which is new you don't really see that commonly installed uh I've installed ITX but you get Hulu Prime video Disney plus so it has added a few in between the pre-installed apps tune in music comes pre-installed with Spotify as well and all the ones here you see come pre-installed Pandora Amazon music and YouTube music you got APK installed if you want to Sid load anything that you can't install from the Google Store uh you got Speed play for using wiress Android auto and apple carplay and then you got Play Store which is basically your gateway to getting any other app uh installed on this system now we can quickly go into the dev Info app and you can see exactly what this device is actually running going to Hardware here you can see we're running the 662 which is a 6115 chipet uh we got the same 610 GPU adrino then it's my resolution is 1920 by 800 it's running at 30 FPS um then we've got 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage and that's pretty much here we're obviously running Android 13 we've got a 5G band uh fifth generation Wi-Fi and that is pretty much it on the hardware spec side now I've done a couple of benchmarks I'll put that down or on screen and roughly any other adapters around it that you might be considering now it's not going to be the fastest the 6115 but let's go into a couple of apps and just see how well the whole thing performs so we're going to launch up our usual Suite of apps and just fire up maps and that's us into mostly Maps we just tap that to configure a location this runs relatively nice and smooth on this display uh obviously it's native it's not using Wireless so it's going to run really quickly anyway so that's maps and then we're going to jump into YouTube that's us into YouTube nice and relatively quick we're going to load up our test app and check out the timings so this is coming in at a native 720 so it thinks it can do 720 no problem and it does look like it's doing it no problem we going to step this up to 1080p though you can see the skip there that's it loaded into 1080p we can just check that we are at 1080p up here so that's 1080p nice and smooth not glitchy like we've seen on the 125 and the 6225 chipsets this is nice and smooth and I guess we're in the 1 to 200 Ms range which is actually quite decent which means we're going to get some decent lip syncing so let's just try that and we are now seeing makers switch their focus towards the twoin one wireless carplay adapters which offer the ability to also pair with Android auto devices too okay not bad actually there is a slight delay obviously with that 100 millisecond delay but that's totally watchable uh I'll be happy with that let's try on Netflix that's us into Netflix the on V created this spark and this tension between the two of us that was committed it was Brave it was brilliant I thought you know what okay solid pass there lip sync was perfect nice and sharp as well so it's getting the right bandwidth tightly solid pass there for Netflix check out Spotify that's that's nice and relatively quickly into Spotify so that all sounds good obviously it's going to play out your stereo uh we can just check [Music] that and you got wheel controls no problem and the call button is going to invoke the chat bot which I'll go into in a minute that's uh the test apps solid plus pretty much on all of those performs very very well now a couple of features that are unique uh to my experience so far we've got BT lock here which means that it's a solution now for AI boxes to get locked down and it will only unlock the whole adapter if it detects a Bluetooth signal of your phone so that's it's a nice way of locking out the applications from your AI box and if it was to get stolen they won't be able to get access to it and you basically go there unlock it with BT you can create a password or a um a lock he- pad uh you can choose the phone that it unlocks with as well and soon as it's connected to Bluetooth such as for like Wireless carplay for example it will actually unlock the uh the box as well and you get access to that you got find apps which is like another app store store for the built-in applications should they need to be updated you got a couple here like Disney plus which obviously means that you probably can't get it off the Play Store and you've got to use this method to get the latest update Pandora Services tune in and things are quite handy you can update the adapter over the air with this very similar updating software on most AI boxes these days it's quite even though it's the latest it is quite an old version It's September last year so I do hope that they're going to still bring out any updates if they need to but maybe they've squashed all the bugs so far I haven't actually encountered that many uh you got built-in video players but you've also got VLC as for gaming it's a little bit hit and miss really okay audio is not a problem we'll be testing this for the first time let's see if this is playable a little bit of a glitch there and there as [Music] well yeah there's a couple of glitches and it's uh just makes it slightly unplayable let's go one more time so it's just like slightly lagging out there even though it's the same chipet as the 6125 and the 6225 it does struggle for some reason we are running 8 gab of ram here so I don't really know what the main reason is for that slight glitchiness and I'll just show you subway surface so here we are in Subway Surfer and it's um a little bit it's a little bit more playable but there is a slight stuttering going on you can see that I'm doing the tutorial because I couldn't really play the uh tutorial on the other display but there's a couple of frame drops here here and there but it's playable in a to a point it's it's does run a little bit better on other systems but for 2D games uh it's going to handle it a little bit better so that's some general lightweight gaming Tik Tok was pre-installed as well um if you are a Tik tocker you can follow me here if you're on Tik Tok let's just try out how they present themselves the best carplay AI box for 2025 let me break down my top for one is carplay a built-in right the B we've the Carin kit mini SC Pro here ready to get plugged in let us into the main menu we're going to looking for the best meet the MMB it's stretching out the content a little bit which is a little bit bad if you got a portrait display it'll actually run it quite well so that is the majority of the ones that you might want to check out on the adapter now let's just try out Wireless carplay and Android auto we're going to the speed Play app now so here Speed play doesn't really have that many options pretty much standard so we got to tap that pair allow it's picked up for carplay connect and that's us into carplay pretty well I'd say quality wise it's not too bad compared to Native we've got all the icons here and you can see the frame rate is not going to be as good as a wireless connection on a dedicated wireless adapter but um there's always a bit of a compromise let's just test out some [Music] music quite a little bit of a lag there uh wheel controls obviously work too and the voice button is going to fire up Siri so that's good hi this is Anthony from carplay this is an audio test using the aoto cb6 and this is a audio test okay that sounds good the music resumed as well so that's good as well uh we can just press play and hold down the buttons to make sure it seeks no it doesn't and it goes backwards and forwards so no seeking when holding the buttons down and the delay between tracks is a little bit long but it's it's uh always the comprom comis with an AI box and uh finally let's do a call test hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello okay that sounded okay fairly good quality and also the delay wasn't that significant for me to be a bit worried about so I'd say that's a pass there for carplay in general let's disconnect this and let's try out Android auto right so we got our Android here we got the cb6 here ready to get paired with to Android auto nice and quick and Android auto looks great it's uh pretty close to Native if not very on point to Native uh looks very good here uh we've got the map tile let's just jump in there and see how responsive that is that's actually quite good and then back to home the widgets we can't play with is not enough to scroll through but let's try out some audio that sounds good wheel controls backwards and forwards works fine and the button triggers Android so that's good and it's hearing me up so that's good music resuming as well let's try a call test hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello okay like carplay slight delay but not enough to make me worried at all in taking a call with it so Android auto perfect if you're an Android auto fan and uh it looks great here it runs relatively well I'm actually surprised so that's Android auto and carplay now obviously Wi-Fi is going to turn off when you're using carplay unless you've got a SIM card installed for Android content so I'd recommend that if you're planning on using YouTube and things like that and carplay at the same time we've put a SD card in this so we can actually see what the playback is of some content so let's just try that we got our content here let's just try a trailer of 1080p war is inevitable one Must Destroy in order to create we are no Jedi [Music] okay that sounds good relatively in sync there with the shooting and the lightsaber firing through in time with the audio that's uh good pass there for that so that's 1080p we can do a 4K 30 let's see if it does that yeah oh bit of a glitch yeah is as expected this is a low end or lower end uh chip set so I'm not expecting it to do 4K 30 so for some lightweight video watching this adapter is good for that too so overall pretty good so far now the main USP and it's not really going to be that unique because it is software based but we've got Drive chat now this is a chatbot or chat GPT connection to a kind of Siri s assistant now you can invoke that with the wheel control or if you've got any button on there like you can hold that down and is listening you'll need a Wi-Fi connected for this to work or a SIM card installed quickly in settings uh we've got some nicely presented settings here uh you got app info just a quite common one more is going to take you to the default Android operating system uh settings screen you got display settings with a couple of features here you've got the LED ring on the actual device itself if you if you want that to match the car interior can turn floating button off but this side dot can't really be invoked in and there's no back button so you're quite limited there uh you can chose the speed limit and everything else this is unique uh to some AI boxes where you can actually do a split screen view so for example you can have maps and say YouTube at running at the same time and the ratio of how much you actually want that to be in view of so let's have if you want more um navigation than viewing you can do that that kind of split we then add it to our home screen you can then go to the app which is then created and then you can tap that it's going to load up both apps and then it's going to split screen them so that's now playing video and the audio is coming out of your car speakers and then basically you can navigate in the split screen view now it has loaded up in that ratio but you've also got full control of making it a little bit smaller if you need it to or a little bit bigger or you can actually completely cancel out the other app completely and go into that and that's all nice and working really nice and seamless and it looks good too so if you're into that and I that is quite a good value ad you could have spottify with lyrics and navigation on the right so everyone's all jamming out with lyrics on some songs whilst you're navigating on the main section of that split screen so that's really nice to see on these AI boxes and a a feature that you don't really get with carplay and Android auto but where was I settings then you got the Bluetooth unlock settings we've seen already got some video definition for compatibility and you can do a delay start if you've got issues with your car launching the box which is good to see uh other settings you've got which app you want to boot up with the chosen voice assistant and you can reset to factory as well so with our Wi-Fi enable we can now hit the voice button and Trigger the the drive chat tell me something about Brighton so this is now using basically chat GPT it goes out gets a request Brighton is a vibrant Seaside city located on the southern coast of England Royal Pavilion with its distinct so you can see there was using chat GPT 40 so overlays over the top I'd say the integration could be a bit better it's uh it does hang there for a bit it gives you what it's using foro jpt and it's good to answer those questions if your Mobile Assistant doesn't cater for that and if you are out of carplay or Android auto then you haven't really got one anyway at that point unless you install something like Google Gemini which is is an option and it's something I might do in the future but basically that is uh a good quick file way to get tra GPT in your AI box and also in your car so you've got all these big fancy cars now having chat GPT or a AI platform being integrated into their car system you can just join them and have this running on your AI box and your car play display so the aoto cb6 currently retails for $239.99 and there's currently a $60 off coupon so that makes it $179.99 on their Amazon store right now and I'll put links down to those down below if you want to learn more about this adapter support the channel and buy yourself one generally I think it's actually quite a nice AI box it is definitely underpowered compared to the higher end as we've seen in my top five recently even the higher end ones actually get glitchy with like video playback or just their General user interface isn't that good this one has had some good work put into it again we do have the floating button of Doom and they've not thought about another way of um using a back button and the side dock or a persistent side dock but their style one and style two does give you some nice options I definitely say it's uh it's in the high tier of user interfaces and launches of on AI boxes so aoto have done a good job at that they've optimized it really well uh the video playback is actually very decent for the price of what you're paying and you've got SD card s support for extra storage should you need that I definitely would go with the 8 GB model uh just to give you a little bit faster functionality switching between apps we still have the bane of Wi-Fi and wireless carplay and Android auto fighting with each other unless you do give it that SIM card support and then that would be a non-issue really I'll say this drive chat is a nice addition we're definitely going to see a lot more of this over this year I reckon and especially next month with another adapter that I'm currently under review but it's a nice way to get AI in the car really if you've got chat GPT and you're not using carplay or Android auto and you're not connecting it through any of those means that way either we all know Siri isn't that great at the moment with its intelligence so I think if you have kind of trat GPT interface in the car then uh we're going to definitely see a lot more a boxes integrate that and a tooto is one of the first to do that that's not a bad thing if you're after specific question and you got no one in the car to do that Google section but it's integration with launching things so like for example launch YouTube app see it didn't know what to do there so it's not really got let's give it one more chance launch the Google Maps app the current command to open the Google Maps app is not supported please provide another command and or specify a different action so there you go it can't actually launch the apps that you're asking for so it's not really much of an assistant in the experience of the AI box you're just pinging out any requests and it's pulling that kind of content back in and it it wasn't really listening out for me to follow up and that's really a good thing if you've ever used the voice in chat GPT and you can actually have a proper discussion it doesn't give that kind of functionality either so it's really lightly uh offering the GPT interface and connection but it's not really enhancing it to its fullest within an AI box experience and I think that's what's missing here and hopefully AI boxes in the future Roto and any other brand they should really be using it as a a more richer experience and we might see that in an adapter that I'll be reviewing soon next month but for its price there's lots to take back from here it is good looking AI box that functions fairly well uh I would say it functions as good as its price range so you are getting a good value there for its price and it's quite competitive and it looks good too in the car so if you are looking for an adapter like this with this kind of functionality do give it a check out Follow My Links and you can make your own decisions there all right I hope you found this video helpful if it has give us a big thumbs up and let me know in the comments if you have any questions about the aoto cb6 I'll try my best to answer them if
