Today we're looking at how to create your first Mentimeter presentation. Perhaps you've seen Mentimeter in use or maybe even voted on a question as an audience member, but in this video we're taking a look at it from the presenter's point of view. I'll be giving you a step-by-step guide on how to get going with your presentations. So join me at the table and let's get started with Mentimeter.
The first thing to do is to go to mentimeter.com and here you have the option to either log in to your existing account or click sign up to create a new one. By the way, creating an account is free and it takes no time. Once you've created your account, you have the option to use one of our ready-to-go templates. But I actually want to create a presentation from scratch instead. So I'm going to exit that and click New Presentation.
This takes you to the Edit View, and this is where you'll be creating your Mentimeter presentations. To get going, I'm going to click up in the left corner, New Slide. And here you have an overview of of all the wonderful Mentimeter question types. But we're gonna start with a classic.
I'm gonna show you the Word Cloud. The Word Cloud allows you to ask any open-ended question and your audience will be able to submit a free text response. I'm gonna allow for maybe just one entry here. So. So once we have our question ready to go, I'm gonna go up here and click present.
This takes you to the presenter view, and this is what you're gonna use when you're showing your presentation to your audience. And your audience can join by going to menti.com and using the code that they see on top of the presentation. They can then submit their answers, and the answers will show up directly in your presentation.
Wonderful. Let's add another slide to our presentation. So I'm going to press Escape to go out of the Present view, and we're back in the Edit view, and I'm going to click New Slide again.
This time I'm going to add a multiple choice. The multiple choice allows you to ask your audience a question and they can answer with predefined options. So I'm going to ask have you used Mentimeter before?
And to make this slide type a bit more interesting, I'm going to add some images to the options. And to do that you click on this little image icon right here. And here you can either upload an image from your computer or use a royalty-free image from our Unsplash library.
But here I might use a GIF instead. So I'm going to search for yes. We can do this one.
And here if you want to square it off, but I think I like the whole thing. I'm going to click save and do the same thing for the others. Nice.
Let's go back to present mode to see what this looks like for the audience. So I'm going to hit present. And as we can see, your audience will be able to view the options as well as the images in their phone.
And the answers will again show up directly as soon as they've answered. Mentimeter. offers a lot more than just these interactive question types. You can create long, beautiful, and dynamic presentations using our content slides.
Let me show you what I mean. I'm gonna click new slide here again and then scroll down to our content slides. And here you have the option to add videos, images, and even paragraphs of text to your presentation.
I'm gonna click on the bullet list. This one is great if you want to present an agenda, for example. So I might do today's presentation introduction. And here I can also add an image if I'd like.
I'm going to click on this image box and this time I'll upload one from my computer. This one looks nice. I'm going to click save and I think I want to move the image to the left side.
So in order to do that, I click here on customize and then click on this little layout button here. Perfect. That looks great. I can also choose if I want to show all bullets at once or if I want them to come up one by one.
Let's take a look at it again from the presenter view. So, as we can see, the image will show up in the phone and the bullets will too as you step through them. Mentimeter works great in a live setting when you have a screen to show your presentation in front of an audience in the room. But you can also use Mentimeter with ease in remote presentations. All you need to do is press present.
and make sure that you share your screen in your video conferencing software. And that way your audience will be able to see the presentation and they can vote using the code up top. Also, Mentimeter works great with other presentation software such as PowerPoint.
More on that in a video linked below. That's it for our demo here today. I recommend that you head on over to your own account and start creating your presentations.
today. And if you want an even deeper dive on how to use Mentimeter and capture your audience, go ahead and check out the Menti Academy. There's a link to that below as well. Good luck with creating your presentations and happy presenting.
