How to Recover a Word Document

Methods to Recover a Word Document

1. Manage Documents Option

  • Steps:
    1. Click on File in the main menu.
    2. Navigate to Info.
    3. Click on Manage Document drop-down.
    4. Select Recover Unsaved Documents.
    5. A dialog box appears showing folders of unsaved documents.
    6. Navigate to the desired document and click Open.
    7. Click on Save As to save the document.

2. Recover Deleted Documents

  • Steps:
    1. Open the Recycle Bin.
    2. Search for the document using the search bar or scroll through.
    3. Once found, right-click on the document.
    4. Select Restore to bring back the document to its original location.

3. Recover After Microsoft Word Crash

  • Steps:
    1. Open Microsoft Word.
    2. If the recovered document isn't visible:
      • Go to Options to open the Word Options dialog box.
      • Navigate to Save.
      • Copy the Auto-Recovered File Location.
      • Open the folder containing the unsaved document.
      • Double-click on the unsaved document.
      • Use Save As to save the document.

4. Recover Using the Open Option in Word
