hey guys in this video I'm going to show you how to summarize a YouTube video with chat GPT so as you know some videos on YouTube are very long and you might have not enough time to watch the complete video so you can use chat GPT to summarize a video however if you copy the URL of the video come back to chat jpt and write summarize me this video and then you paste the URL here this is not going to work I think this method was working in the past but not anymore so what you want to do is to get the transcript of a video most of the YouTube videos actually do have a transcript you can find the transcript of a video when you scroll down to the description part you need to open it and then you see here the show transcript button click on that and now on the right side you should see this transcript box now we need to copy it but before that you can togle the time stamps we don't need to copy it okay and now what you need to do is to copy this transcript and paste it to chat gbt and it will start summarizing the video but this was actually a short video so the summary is also kind of short so you can also say here summarize me the video as key points okay so when you say that it is going to summarize it by bullet points so this example can work very well for shorter videos but what if the video is very long there will be a problem if you want to get the transcript of a long video because first of all the transcript will be so long that you won't be able to copy the whole transcript to chat GPT and secondly even if you achieve to copy the whole script chat GPT may not accept it as one prompt because the script is too long so in this case there is an alternative you can use which is installing a Google Chrome extension so if you are using Google Chrome you need to search the term chat GPT Chrome extension and it should take you to this extension here chat GPT for Chrome and YouTube summary and once you install the extension you should see this little box here saying transcript and summary now when you expand it you can see the complete transcript now without doing it manually if you click on this button here it will directly take you to chat GPT and summarize this text for you it takes us to chat GPT and as you can see it also copied the complete transcript and here it already summarized it you can use this extension if you don't want to do this manually by yourself if you find this video helpful please hit the like button and see you guys in the next video
