so what we're looking at here is a bone slide and this is looking at compact foam so what we eventually have to do here is get it to high power so this is what it looks like under low power this is what it looks like under medium power and this is what it looks like under high power i'm just trying to focus in on one of these so this whole structure right here is one osteon the hole in the middle of the osteon is the central canal all right what you're seeing here are these dark spots here and here and here and here and each one of those is a lacuna in lacuna contain uh the bone cells which are called osteocytes so this is a lacuna and it contains within it an osteocyte you're seeing these dark lines here and here those dark lines are called the canaliculi again there so cantaliculi canaliculi here and then the bony material as you can see it kind of circles around the central canal so this bony material here is called the lamella so that's a lamella this is
