Michael DeSanta's Journey in the GTA Universe

This is Michael DeSanta, arguably the most important main character of GTA 5. If you clicked on this video, I'm sure you are all well aware of who Michael is and what's his role in the GTA 5 story. But what you probably don't know is where he is today and is he still in contact with Franklin and Trevor? Or is it possible that after 11 years he might not even be alive? Well, luckily for all of these questions and many more, we finally have the answers in this documentary. Although Michael is a well-known character for basically all gamers, it is important to understand Michael's background and where he came from to know where he is today. Michael Townley was born in 1968 somewhere in the midwestern United States. He had a tough childhood with both his alcoholic and abusive father and also his mother who later on abandoned him. That all laid the ground to a future criminal career. Michael committed his first robbery in 1988, robbing $10,000 from a small business in Corsair City. Through his criminal activities, Michael met Trevor while escorting cargo across the U.S. US-Canadian border. There was an instant chemistry between these two and so they decided to start working together. In 1991 however Michael met his future wife Amanda in a strip club. Step by step they fell in love and started a family. Michael understood that he couldn't live the criminal lifestyle anymore and wanted out. For that he faked his own death in 2004 with the help of the FIB agent Dave Norton. There he changed his name from Michael Townley to Michael DeSanta and moved to Los Santos. Nine years later Trevor shows up at his doorstep and finds out his best friend Michael is actually still alive. Michael restarts his criminal lifestyle losing his job and is forced to move to Los Santos. loses his family, robs the union depository, gets back his family and here we are. Most people would say that from here we don't know much about him, but… But they would be wrong. Firstly let's get the final mission of the GTA storyline out of the way. It has been confirmed that the ending C aka the ending where Franklin, Michael and Trevor decide to kill all their enemies is the canon ending event. That means that in the GTA timeline, ending A and B were sort of parallel universe endings which really never happened and both Michael and Trevor live on from the 2013 actions. But we also got to know from the GTA story. story mode action is that Michael had a passion for movie production and on multiple occasions stated that he feels like he has done something meaningful with his life when having his name in the end of some movies. Anyway shut up and take a look at that. Feels good, doesn't it? Feels like I've finally done something with my life. Actually done something. Movie. Welcome to show business. In the ending, where Franklin kills Michael, he also states alongside other things that he finally has a job that he loves. What I did to deserve this... And although this ending wasn't the canon event ending, then it still doesn't change the fact that after the GTA 5 action, Michael Starr started working for Mr. Solomon in the Richard Majestic production facility. But 11 years is a very long time and things can change a lot with this time. What happened to Michael after that? Well, things get a bit complicated from here. And not because of Michael, but rather just because of the GTA 5 storyline. In a logical sense, GTA Online action should be a sequence for the GTA 5 action, since all the updates bring out new cars and properties that only get better as time moves on. But rather ironically, that is not the reality. In reality, the GTA Online action from 2013 to 2017 actually takes place before the GTA 5. 5 storyline. So in reality our online character started his journey with Lamar at the LSIA in 2009 and his first heists with Lester that in real life came out in 2015 were actually completed somewhere around the 2011 mark in the GTA universe timeline. It is also confirmed by the fact that when Lester and Michael start putting together a crew for the Jewel Store heist, Lester mentions someone he has been working with but but is too unexpected, clearly referring to our online character. So all of this further confirms the fact that the online actions were actually before the GTA 5 storyline activities. But this all changed in 2017 with the Gunrunning DLC, where Agent 14 confirms that the year is 2017. Concluding all of this, we quite literally have no idea what Michael was doing from 2013 to 2017, because we just hadn't gone forward in the GTA's own timeline. To be honest, the first time we even got the slightest of hints about Michael is in late 2019. What happened then, if you watched my Diamond Casino documentary, which I'll put a link to right now, is that the Cheng family, once owners of the Diamond Casino, wanted Lester and our online- character to rob the place. And for that, our online character bought an arcade center under which he and Lester secretly set up an operations center for the heist actions. But all of that is not important. What's important is who was hired to work in the actual arcade itself. And that was none other than Jimmy DeSanta, the son of Michael. Jimmy still looked as fat as he had always been, as well as not very keen on actually working somewhere. As you could see, Lester told our online character that Jimmy is an old family friend who needed a job. You can correct me if I'm wrong, but there would have been no way that Jimmy himself would have contacted Lester. Lester on getting himself a job, as we knew Jimmy to be an entitled jobby child from the storyline. The only explanation for Jimmy actually working there is the fact that it was set up by none other than Michael himself. Neither Lester or Jimmy seemed to be more or less sad or traumatized about something happening with their mutual close friend, which further proved to us in 2019 that Michael was still at least somewhat getting along with his family and most likely likely still living all together. The first real clues about Michael and his life appeared to us in late 2021 with the contract DLC. As we drove through the Richard Majestic Productions facility with Franklin, he mentioned he knew one of the producers around there, clearly referring to no one else but Michael. This all confirmed the fact that in 2021 Michael was still working as a movie producer in the Vinewood film industry, eight years after having started this career in 2013. What is also interesting about the Contract DLC is that we also somewhat got to know if the three main characters of the GTA 5 storyline were still in contact with each other. If our online character sat down with Franklin in his office, Franklin would sometimes mention Trevor with quite a positive tone. Hey, did I hear right that you used to run with Trevor Phillips? Man, you're a good guy. Mr. Clinton clearly referring to Trevor Phillips. Hey, this crazy dude swung by earlier, dressed like a hobo, like really on edge. He swore him and Mr. Clinton used to work together. Got really angry when I said he wasn't available. Now, all of this shows- to me that Trevor and Franklin are still somewhat in contact with each other since Trevor wouldn't be trying to meet up with Franklin in his own office if they both had some sort of a beef with each other. And to me it sounds like that if Trevor is still in contact with Franklin there is no way that Trevor wouldn't be also still having some sort of communication with Michael since their friendship goes way more back in time than that of Trevor and Franklin's. And judging by the fact that Franklin also mentioned Michael with a rather casual sentence when we drove through the movie production facility, it is also most certain that both Michael and Franklin are also keeping in touch. So we know that in 2021 Michael is still working in the Richard Majestic productions as a movie producer and is most likely more or less still in touch with both Franklin and Trevor. But could you believe it, it is already 3 years from 2021, where is is Michael literally right now? Well, the answer might be clear if we take a look at Michael's voice actor Ned Luke. In 2023, Ned Luke made this video about GTA 6. Patience guys, it'll be worth the wait, trust me. Now, how could Ned Luke know if GTA 6 would be quote on quote worth the wait? Well, to me the only logical answer is that he is himself connected with the GTA 6 production and what other way could it be possible than that he's making new lines for Michael to be used in the GTA 6 story. So it looks like Michael DeSanta will most likely make at least some mind- minor appearances in GTA 6, which is set in 2025 Vice City. And from all of that we can conclude that in a month or so, when 2025 will arrive, Michael will fly from Los Santos over to Vice City to deal with some sort of activities included in the GTA 6 story. Of course this is only an assumption, but it is based on what Ned Luke himself has said, so it has some ground to it. But anyways, that's it. That is it for this video.
