She just She just went to the trap blowing smoke in her face. Blowing smoke in Amelia's face. Yeah, we she does that all the damn time. Okay. Oh, she usually be mean to me. And I go, "You don't hear that guy telling you how to do that that CPR?" Okay. She wasn't listening. When you see your mom does that to you all the time, what what what does she do? Like she acts all mean towards me and she and acts all abusive and manipulative. She thinks that I sleep with all her imaginary boyfriends. Like she has imaginary boyfriends, stuff like that. She's saying she sees things coming through the house and someone's messing with her at night. And then she kicks me out at night by screaming out the middle child's name. Do you have another sibling? Where's she at? She's with her dad. And as far as you know, your sister doesn't ever see your mom. No, cuz they got a restraining order on her and she's already violated it. That's why she has the bench warrants. Is there any restraining orders here on her mom? No. No. Are you going to rush her and keep her away from me and my siblings? That's what we're working on right now. That's something we're working on. Okay. There's a lot going on right now and I am here and I'm not out there. I don't know what's going on out there. So, I'm just focused on you guys right now. Okay. You know, you guys can't just rip a baby's out out of her mom's arms, you know. Where was your mom last night? I jumped out of the car while I was moving. So, so I can get to grandma's immediately because I was afraid of her cuz she kept on calling me names and she was beating kind of. Do you remember where? It's okay if you don't remember where you jumped out of the car. in the middle of the road. And your grandma's here? Yeah, I ran over here. Okay. They can't check on her right now. No, not right now. Are you going to do right now? We're doing everything we can to to help your sister. Okay. I don't want my sibling to die. I want to Hey, Christina, listen. We're not giving you medical service. You're under arrest for a felony warrant. We're going to put you in a police car. Okay. No, I'm not leaving my ve Albuquerque police officers under if you resist. You are being ma'am. This way commands force will be used against you. Do you understand me, Christina? You're under arrest. We're going to put you in the back of a police car. Okay. You can stand up on your own now. That's your final warning. I'm going to help you stand up. Okay, Christina. No. I'm going to get her legs real quick. Ready? Wait. Do you want to put her in one set real quick so it doesn't slip? Don't do this. Let go of the key. No. Let go. Let go. No. Do you know what her uh what she uses? She says that she does dope and stuff like that and and she usually like sucks all her blood then puts it back in and then she uses water from her sink and then put it back in her bloodstream. I keep on telling her that's wrong and but she doesn't like to listen to me because she thinks I'm useless or something like that. Does she ever do anything like that around Amelia? Yes, all the damn time at the trailer. She had the baby sitting in her lap and I seen the syringe. Okay. And that was last night, correct? Yeah. They're hurting my hand. It's gross. Let go of the keys. You're hurting me. I'm cutting my fingers off. No one's cutting your fingers off. Stop kicking me. What are you doing? Nobody. Try to cross your legs. You're under arrest. Stop fighting. No, you're making me bleed. Nobody's making you bleed. You cut my fingers. You cut my fingers. Nobody cut your fingers. Yes, you did. But she says that she has sons or something. She doesn't even have any boys. She only has three girls. Me, Malik, and Ameilia. Not probably two now. Ameilia is probably going to die. And I'm the worst oldest sister in the world. It's not your fault, Millie. You're here. I didn't get the get the baby on time. Did you bring her to you? I didn't save my little sister. I'm a horrible. It's not your fault, Billy. It's not your fault. You couldn't stop her. She's going to do what she's going to do. [Music] You guys can do this for my daughters and stuff. All right, that should be good. Stop. You guys leave me, please. I want you to fight with us. I don't want you to kick us. I just want you to stand up, ma'am. Stand up. I need to go to the hospital. Roll over. Stand up. I need healthare. Stand up. I need help. You already know. You guys are men. I'm a female and I'm a mom. I'm a mom and you guys. Oh crap. No, I'm not getting the car. I got her. I got her. I got her in the car. No, you guys aren't certified. My children, sir. Paramedics now inform officers that while they attempted life-saving measures on baby Amelia, she was already deceased before they were even able to help her. There's modeling around the eyes, especially when um we first saw her and that's very dark. Yeah. Around the chest as well. She had real real deep cyanosis around the eyes and mouth too. Bruising. Okay. At this time, the grandparents and Lilith are also informed of the baby's passing. When this officer reapproaches, the grandfather is clarifying everything that happened that led up to this. And Lily got the camera on her and showed her that she had a hypo in her hand. At that point, Diana finally believed what I've been telling her. Yeah. For a week or two. She's on drugs. She's giving her daughter mother's milk. The baby is going to be getting drugs. She finally believed it. She called you guys immediately. Later that night, Christina shows up, I guess, down right in front of our house, and Lily jumps out and gets in the house. And and then Christina's out here for another two hours, probably shooting up in front of our neighbor's house. And that's the last we saw of her. This morning, Diana got up and made a nice breakfast from me and her granddaughter. And about 15 minutes later, there's a knock at the door, and everybody starts screaming, "The baby's not breathing. The baby's not breathing." So, I called 911. Next thing you know, you guys are here a little late. Somebody should have done their diligence yesterday and the baby would still be alive. Had that been done, boy. Kind of late now, but that poor 4-month old baby killed my mother's milk. I mean, she called and told you guys. Well, not you guys, but somebody in the police department. She called us. So, how come the baby's dead now? Unfortunately, sir, I don't have an answer. I know you don't know. It's a rhetorical question. I know. Sorry. But I just I know none of you guys none of you guys standing in front of me here are responsible, but still. And I understand that you're upset and I I can never understand exactly what you guys are going through right now. So, I don't want to even push that. I do. And I I'm so sorry that you guys are going through this. I I completely understand that you guys are angry. Why didn't somebody go check on her last night and arrest her? Shake her down, man. She told you guys. Not you, but she told the police. And I don't have an answer for you. I'm sorry, you guys. I can't believe she called last night. Nobody went and took care of that situation in front of the house sitting there shooting up with a baby. That wasn't a serious one. I guess that wasn't priority. I guess not. Again, sir, I don't have an answer. I know you don't. And again, I'm just ranting and raing. I that that part I do get. I I don't blame you for that. I just want to let you guys know at this specific time you guys cannot go back inside the res because it has to be secured. Yeah. Yeah. You're funny. You know what? My hats off to you. I tip my hat to you. That's salute. It's not their fault. Fault. Yeah, but this is stupid. What about last night? What if it was our job last night? What was that? What was that? How come you're so important about doing all your [ __ ] job now? Nobody did nothing last night. Keep us out of the house. Fine. Go ahead. No, wait. What am I going to do? Honestly. Oh, geez. Oh, I don't know. Huh? I'll have to figure out what I'm going to do while you guys are doing whatever you're do. Yeah. If you guys need to go, hang out. Make sure place is secure. Yeah. All right. Thank you. Thanks for Christina was charged with reckless child abuse causing death to a child under 12 years old. Intentional abuse of a child. Child abuse resulting in death or great bodily harm. Four counts of violating a restraining order that prohibits domestic violence. Two counts of battery on a peace officer. Two more counts of child abuse, use or possession of drug paraphernalia, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. A local news source reports on the aftermath of the incident. Christina Bennett appeared before Judge Stan Whitaker today. In August, she pleaded no contest to a charge of child abuse resulting in death. She was arrested for the death of her baby last year. And according to the autopsy, the little girl had meth in her system. Prosecutors read a letter from Bennett's surviving daughter in court today who was 12 years old at the time of the baby's death. The decisions that Christina made have affected my life in a negative way. I am in counseling. I don't sleep well and I'm very angry, depressed. Her mother is supposed to protect her kids. Christina did not. My life will never be the same. My dad passed away in September, and I'm being raised by my grandparents. That hearing took a 10-minute recess after the reading of that letter because Bennett said it was the first time she had heard the father of her children had died and she needed a moment. After the recess, Bennett read a statement apologizing and saying that she suffered a history of abuse and a traumatic brain injury from a shooting. But Judge Stan Whitaker sentenced her to 10 years in prison and she will serve 5 years of supervised probation when she is released. Now, this message is for one person and one person only, and that's the 12-year-old sister. And what does it mean to protect the child, and I mean really protect them? Is it feeding them, dressing them, and sending them off to school? Or is it standing between them and the very person who gave them life when the person becomes the threat? This isn't hypothetical. It's the gut-wrenching reality officers face when they walk into a home that should be a sanctuary. And instead, they find this chaos. And this is heartbreaking because many times police are the only line of defense between innocence and trauma. And in life, not all wounds bleed, and not all scars are visible. And in homes like this one, violence hides in plain sight behind locked doors and parental titles. And by the time people know about it, the damage has often already been done. And I know what it's like firsthand to witness this kind of trauma. And the system was supposed to catch this. But the problem is the system isn't always fast. And often it shows up after the funeral. And the truth is, we cannot turn a blind eye when we see the warning signs. Because when these kids have parents like this, someone has to step up. And we can't say it's not my business because if we do, we become part of the system that has failed the child. Lastly, to our viewers, if you're watching this, take a moment to leave a message of strength, hope, and healing. Whether it's for someone grieving an unbearable loss or for those who had to grow up long before they should
