[Music] here we have a new budget friendly phone from Motorola the Moto G power 2025 so what sorts of features do you get here and what shortcomings you have to watch out for I'm will for GSM Marina and let's find out in our Moto G power 2025 [Music] review the Moto G power is a pretty straightforward Motorola mid-ranger that's going for around 300 bucks at the time of review but still there are some interesting goodies like extra ingress protection and wireless charging and an ultra wide cam with autofocus the back of the phone is flat and covered in Eco leather which flows seamlessly over the camera housing you get a plastic frame here and the phone is rather large and feels solid in hand like I said Modo has gone above and beyond when it comes to Ingress Protection the phone is ip68 ip6 9 rated against dust water submersion and heated water Jacks and not only that the phone even meets a military grade standard against extreme temperatures with the display you witness some of this phone's budget nature it's an LCD not an OLED it's large though at 6.8 in and has a 120 HZ refresh rate the display gets the job done and it's sharp enough as an LCD the blacks are not quite as deep and there's no support for HDR video content here but these things aren't too bothersome what we're not quite happy about is that the back lighting of the screen is a bit uneven and the screen is more reflective than your typical OLED panel making you out in the sun more difficult still there is decent brightness here for an LCD we measured around 550 nits with a manual slider which can boost to nearly a th000 in auto mode when it comes to refresh rate you get 120 HZ while you're interacting with the screen which Smooths things out and this dials down to 60 HZ when idling to save energy the Moto G power has a 3.5 mm Jack for headphones as well as a pair of stereo speakers the speakers have axle and loudness but there's Distortion at higher volumes [Music] awake you can wake up and unlock the Moto G power with a side mounted fingerprint reader built into the power button it's quite reliable you can only get the phone with 128 gigs of storage on board but that is expandable through MicroSD the interface of the Moto G power is the latest version of hello UI on top of Android 15 it's similar to stock Android but with some custom Moto features on top you can find these features within the Moto app organized into categories like personalizations gestures and Security Options nowadays the features that involve connecting the phone to a PC tablet or display display are found within the Smart Connect Hub previously Moto called this functionality ready for it's impressive that you get support for this sort of connectivity on a budget phone and Motorola will provide at least two major software updates and three years of security updates for the Moto G power now let's talk about the chipset it's a mediatech dimensity 6300 which is entry level 5G silicon in benchmarks the Moto G power does okay but it sits on the lower end of the spectrum even when comparing Within own class for just a bit more money there are competitors with much more power under the hood as expected there's no problem with thermal throttling with such a modest chipset so despite this phone's namesake is far from a Powerhouse but maybe the power refers to Long battery life well while it is decent it's nothing spectacular the phone has a 5,000 mAh battery and it earned an active use score of 11 hours and 56 minutes in our tests we expected a bit more there support for 30 WT charger here but the phone ships without a charger with the compatible adapter we were able to charge from 0 to 51% in 30 minutes and a full charge took less than an hour and a half there's support for 15 wat wireless charging here too which is interesting to see on a budget phone now we have the cameras there are two on the back a 50 megap main camera and an 8 megap Ultra wide with autofocus another Rarity in this price range the daylight photos from the main camera are all right they have Punchy colors good contrast and wide dynamic range but they're soft overall and there is some fun detail only in well-lit [Music] [Music] scenes the two times cropped Zoom shots have little to no fine detail and you can notice some upscaling artifacts [Music] interestingly the phone doesn't offer automatic night mode if you're shooting in the dark by default the results are not good you get extreme softness and no detail there's plenty of noise and even some upscaling artifacts too turning on the night mode improves sharpness add some detail through artificial sharpening and reduces noise however the jagged edges are here to stay over overall the quality still isn't very [Music] good we didn't expect much from the ultra wide camera but we were surprised by the wide dynamic range and Punchy colors there is plenty of artificial sharpening though and the sharpness and detail suffer if you have less than perfect [Music] lighting as the ultra wide camera has autofocus it can be used to take close-up macro shots the results are pretty decent as long as you have enough light the detail isn't spectacular but the sharpness is all right at night the ultra wide shots are extremely soft and lacking in detail there's plenty of noise and again some upscaling artifacts like we saw in the main cam there is support for night mode here but it doesn't seem to make a big Improvement selfies from the 16 megapixel front-facing cam are pretty decent you get natural looking colors a good amount of detail and wide enough dynamic [Music] range the Moto G power 2025 supports only one video mode with all of its cameras and that's 1080p at 30 FPS those from the main cam come out soft and a bit noisy with washed out colors and no fine detail the ultra wide camera's video is even worse extremely soft and hardly usable there's electronic video stabilization which you can turn off it's a bit floaty looking with some occasional distortions so there you have it the Moto G power 2025 it offers some interesting features that you might not expect from a budget mid-ranger plus it has a solid Moto software experience and it takes pretty decent selfies too however there's more more to be desired when it comes to the screen the cameras the chipset and the battery life and you can find other phones that take those boxes especially if you're willing to spend a little bit more thanks for watching guys if you're looking for alternatives to the Moto G power 2025 you can check out our reviews
