Ed Lover's Influence on Hip-Hop Culture

[Music] up the drink at Studios it ain't often a lot of people get to be on drink Champs and I'm honored and privileged to be here I've been wanting to be here since they started and we drank a bottle of [ __ ] binkle [ __ ] [Music] it's get [Music] [Music] what it good be hope me it's your boy n o r e what up it's DJ efn and it's drink chest [ __ ] [Applause] [Music] Y and when we started this show we said we wanted to give flowers to brothers who who who came before us who paved the way for us literally if it wasn't because of this man doing what he did being the personality that he he was we probably wouldn't be here that's right we heard he started as an artist then heard kuj and said that's not it I'm gonna find another profession and he found another profession he was one of the first people in hip-hop that was multitasking meaning having movies radio and television back then when that was unheard of he's a legend legend a icon a icon your favorite rapper's favorite rapper has a story with him and it's it's F the day to give him his flowers to tell him how much he mean to our community our culture our society in case you don't know who we talking about we talking about the one and OD [Applause] [ __ ] wow made drink CH Dr I want drink crazy I like my cigar to that cigar like your cigar now now do we got the um side language no easy I say it man do we have the easy eclip sign up look this's two-part question I want to show you got the easy eclip sign up I mean you ain't got to show it to me you show it to him no but we want to see your reaction go ahead going to the number one video in the country man okay okay okay I'll tell you know I can do that you know Sumer what Happ to ruthless nigas for life and all that what's up yo what's up now hey yeah you actually it says it labels it as at love of smacks Easy E well there's different different versions of that video with different titles different titles but that's what that's what it's labeled as but then when you watch the footage actually put in your hand that's what we used to call back in the days a mush yeah the smash that's easy this is something and I'm quite sure he's going to bring it up this is something me and stretch from live sad each other all the time right put each other in the smash like what you got we we even put our hands in each other Pockets take [ __ ] throw it on the ground just putting each other in the smash so I was [ __ ] with easy easy I just put the [ __ ] in the smash but y y'all already had that kind of rapport with each other people don't understand easy was easy was the coolest [ __ ] man ever bro like I remember one time we went and and we did uh NWA in LA and we was out in Compton by Compton SWAT me I had the dead wrong ass color on for that [ __ ] dead wrong color the pick up when I know Freddy was on that was Freddy with them before we got out to go into conf swamp meet to shoot EAS was like yo you got to sit in the car man sit in the car for a minute and he he went in and he got me a black Wind Breaker he got me a black rers hat and a blackt he got neutral he got me right he got me neutral cuz he was like it ain't a OG that to do it to you one of these young wild [ __ ] trying to get a rep so he got me right so yeah easy [ __ ] was crazy so so there two things you asked what you you answered one of the part is did you have a rapport before that but then the other part was he whispered something into your ear and everyone always wonders cuz y go into the r video after that right well everyone always wonders what was exactly that he whisper in your ear and everybody gonna have to wait for that [ __ ] booket that is one of the yo bro that is one of the biggest questions I ever get in my life you see people on the thread he he he disrespected and he said some foul [ __ ] about shooting EAS was a businessman easy knows if he' have said some foul [ __ ] to me he would have never got another video play on MTV and by the way it couldn't have been too crazy because it still got aired and your all up all remember he had the pool he used to have the the pool parties which was [ __ ] debauchery my right [ __ ] the E pool parties [ __ ] theery at it finest my [ __ ] I wasn't ready I was easy easy pool parties we'll get to that too easy e pool parties was like what Luke was smart enough to do Luke used to when we used to come to Miami with Luke Luke would bring all the program directors all the radio dudes all that and then bring in all the strippers so when you from Miami was like [ __ ] that [ __ ] Luke you always remember that luk took care of you so when you got back like when we was going to play your TV RS we was playing move something cuz Luke make sure something moved when we was down in Miami so we was playing that [ __ ] bro and EAS was doing the same [ __ ] e was just doing the same [ __ ] he had the pool party Wet n Wild and girls all over the place and liquor drinks weed whatever the [ __ ] you wanted he was doing the same [ __ ] wow that was marketing what do you think would would would life would have been like if Instagram was back then [ __ ] first of all I'd have been [ __ ] super wealthy because I have probably had 200 300 million followers World easy so I could have leveraged that corporately somehow some way but [ __ ] Instagram then we'd all been [ __ ] up for a lot of the [ __ ] that we was doing we'd all been [ __ ] up I'd probably never been married if we had Instagram [ __ ] oh [ __ ] real now I heard you say in the very beginning like you really it really wasn't money I I don't remember if you said you wasn't making money or it really wasn't about money you were saying you you did it for the love I would have did it for free wow honestly because that's how much I love hip-hop that's how much I wanted to be a part of it that's how much I really wanted to get myself involved in it like I I've said on many interviews I heard LL Ry and then I figured I was the MC after that it just too nice and too young 15 he was that nice like and I was like well we're running them they from my way so we used to all rhyme was back when I was Eddie D you everybody had a d on their name I don't even know what the [ __ ] the D was for Eddie D you know and running them would come in the park and you know we rhyme with run and and D come out you know D always had rymes so that was back then but when I heard this young 15y old kid from Farmers Boulevard bro I was like nah I can't I can't make records like that subject delivery his word play everything so I had to try to figure another way into this hip-hop and it was y TV RS bro so so let me ask you because at that time it was really just about being the DJ or the MC it really wasn't about being a VJ you know although we had Ralph before that right don't forget the boys and the graffiti artist as well no what I'm saying is let me get to the point the point I was trying to make was like other than Ralph I didn't see too many VJs right so what made you and Dre like even want to to explore that world that Freddy already that was first okay that was first and when I saw that I saw the name Ted Demi on there Ted Ted Demi was a dude that I knew from church wow Ted Dem not from Queens no he's from Rockville uh he's from Long Island okay oh wow yeah he's right there yeah Rockville Center that's where he from Rockville Center okay so Ted Demi is a pisc capelion his parents my best friend Kurt Flur shout out Kurt Flur notarian is a piscop piscop not the B [ __ ] the religion religion Rel a piss companion so they would have the fellowship [ __ ] and they would go on to Retreats and Kurt mom's always like bring Ed you know keep Kurt out of trouble but she didn't know that was more trouble and then we met the little white guy from Rockville you know Long Island and uh Rockville Center and that [ __ ] just knew hip-hop and he loved the music and he knew all of this [ __ ] about us and I was Ted so we kept in touch all through high school we used to take our block from our block to go to Rockville Center to play Ted and his friends and then bring his friends to us and then we stayed with him all through college and everything and I saw that name on them credits and I was like what does Ted have to do with yourtv raps oh so that was your plug that was my plug I I I'm going to tell you I was doing a documentary called what what and when when Chris ladyy saw it Chris ladyy said yo I need you to meet this guy in LA and his name was Ted Demi I had not I didn't know I didn't know Ted Demi had did YTV ra at the time right Ted DIY they make us wait we're on a pingpong playing pingpong Ted DIY comes out with a guy who looks like Johnny Depp and he just throws [ __ ] cocaine on the table and then Johnny Depp just sniffs the [ __ ] not Johnny Depp the guy that looks like him hear me out hand me out so we're all this is like tway days we're all like yo we texted each other in the same room like yo did you see what I seen coming to find out it was Johnny Depp it was fake cocaine they was promoting the movie Blow yeah we this before this is this there was like should we use this as a promotional item and that's what I knew Ted de was out of his [ __ ] mind yeah Ted did Ted did blow Ted Ted did the movie Blow no Ted directed The Ted directed the movie Blow Ted directed the movie Life with Eddie Murphy and yeah that's and Ted did who's the man and Ted did who's the man yeah Ted did who's the man so what made you stick with him cuz all right cool your TV blowing up you have your chance to do your own movie no but don't cut through everything I want to know when you connect with him and how you he actually get you so I start to get to your TV R so I start I saw Ted's name I got the number I start calling him I'm like Ted you got to get me on this show man I know hip-hop like nobody else know it I'm in love with it it's my thing he's like we already got Fab I was like well you know hip-hop touches everything and make everything dope so let me come on and do a record report let me do aov review let me do something and then they decided they wanted to do a Daily Show because the show had blown up the show the show actually blew up when Ron D and willing them did the pilot for from their tour that's what really set the whole [ __ ] off then they hired Fab you know Fab was downtown you know Deborah Harry everybody love Fab know Deborah Harry had fat Five Freddy told me that is my wife I knew the only person that was going to come to was H um fad Five Freddy told me everybody fly DJ spin so fab was on he was on he a graph artist he's like the ambassador of Hip Hop at the time absolutely him and him and BOS outs like this like there's so much layers def Fab that people don't know about and then Fab didn't want to do The Daily Show because he was also directing he had did like I think he did self-destruction I think he did ks1 videos he did a lot of videos so he was directing too so he did not want to do it so they had to find somebody to do The Daily Show Peter Dy who was the executive producer knew Dre from Dre being a tour DJ for the Beasty Boys Ted knew me I did not know Dre was DJ yeah for the Beast Bo before hurricane wow it was Dre yeah so you know Dre Dre and T money also co-wrote um proud to be black for Run DMC off the ra H you know he was signed the Death Jam they had their group they was signed the Death Jam knowledge me I me that was them way before I even knew Dre we just did it over when we did the backup off me out ah my wife is killing me geez okay so we did that and uh Ted saw it he saw Laurel and Hardy right he Dre had already already audition went back and was talking to Peter and Peter's office upstairs I'm in there with Ted and he putting me on tape and then Ted called Peter and was like is Dr Dre still there and Dre he was like yeah said send him to my office and he come down he said I'mma put y'all on tape together and I remember asking Dre Ted had just come back from Jamaica something he had dreadlock wigs in there and I was like Dre do you can you speak Pat like do he's like n my father's Jamaican I was like bet so we put the wigs on and we did some crazy Jamaican [ __ ] and Ted was like that's what I want Laurel Hardy and he took it to MTV MTV said we got money to pay one person and me and Dre said we'll split it and we took it wow wow so look one of my favorite things to do is to uh when we come here is uh uh see if the artist is on time I knew he was going to be on time so I didn't take that back I didn't take that back I was like yo his his his radio background and his his professionalism is not going he's not going to be late so I I've been waiting to be on this [ __ ] show man hold but I'm like that's my [ __ ] nor why the [ __ ] am not we trying to do my second thing is to always know what the artist is drinking now you ordered one of the most unique drinks ever on drink Champs history yeah let's see what that is okay now what is that that is Basil Hayden Dark Ride it's it's bourbon it's whiskey B it's bisy bouron yeah okay but we put it in a special order let's get this here let's leave that there for him we put it in a special order because you're a special type of guy and we had to do something special cuz we said we we going make sure you got that but then we got you oh hell no no you didn't no you didn't hold on man hold on Wow Wow wow wow now this is special [ __ ] right here y'all I told yeah all my boy all my boys at my man Cam Newton spot he got spot cigar spot called um Fellowship a Sierra life and times and pleasure Chest all of them is like bring that home yeah bring that home right there that's special thank y'all man thank y'all man wow that's crazy right there I was so happy because I've been waiting for somebody to order American whiskey right and I'm like just just see what he order and then you um who is it Mr Lee who sent the picture and I was like no I sent the picture yeah you sent the picture and I was like I S I forget I think to Diego like is that American whiskey and I like yeah I said I hope he loves this papy cuz we going in oh yeah yeah we going now how do you drink papy I drink py with I might chill it just a little bit just a little bit we going to do it with a little ice there so going to do I'm going to do my just a little bit let it breathe sometimes you can just drop a thing of water and just a little bit of water but that's papy that's different you know you you don't [ __ ] with I throw a big ice cube in rock but that's papy save for that flavor I told you you save for that flavor bro that [ __ ] hard to get yeah y'all drink chance for real came with that [ __ ] hard to get they be having lines outside of like liquor stores when they do a papy drop 12 years too hell yeah so let me ask you how did you get to Atlanta I know I'm bouncing around but I want to know like you know cuz I want to I want to get to a birthday party that's my son over there that you came to that let's talk to talk about that first when we when we both lived in West Orange I don't know if you still got so glad you brought that up cuz I swear I was going to bring it up if you list listen a lot of people don't know n's birthday party had Chris Lighty and jyu the weak there before J andity start beefing that's right I swear to God it was at my crib at love only person and he's too young to even know who was was at his [ __ ] goddamn party but remember chrisy lived down the chrisy was my next door neighbor next door neighbor God Rest his soul he was my can I tell you a quick chrisy [ __ ] story let's go so I lived directly next door to Chris Lighty Chris Lighty had black top in his driveway when I moved in Chris was already there I didn't have a driveway I had the circular thing there but it was dirt so I called the paving Stone [ __ ] come put these $15,000 paving stones I didn't think about Chris I was just thinking about beautifying my house paving stones they got an inlock it's not black top so Chris Rings my bell one day and goes that's what you're doing I'm like what the [ __ ] is you talking about Chris he said you see me I got the ass black top [ __ ] you going to put down the paving Stone I said Chris I wasn't even thinking about you bro I just put the Ping St he said who's your Paving Stone dude so I gave him my pavingstone dude pavingstone dude come they tear his driveway out they put down pavingstones here's and Nory will attest his [ __ ] winter time comes I'm Shing my [ __ ] Chris got just as much snow as I got he said I said Chris you ain't going to shovel your snow he said come in the house he clicked the [ __ ] he had heat put under the [ __ ] just so he can outo me what a [ __ ] ass I love him though I love that [ __ ] I a Shou the [ __ ] click I was like wow yes that that that was that was a time it was um I believe Lauren Hill lived one oh Sal salute to the papy baby godamn hell yeah sorry fellas I ain't bringing on this [ __ ] home so I remember Lauren Hill lived one where Red Man lived down the block J Ru lived here I lived here Jersey yeah chrisy lived I'm talking about in a in a 12 minute span like a hip-hop neighborhood and uh jyu and then Chris lady I love like and uh and and I didn't get and which one call it kg from NY okay K yeah y but I would go to sh Hills Mall and this was this for lack of a better ter Atlanta this was like the first almost Linux mall like cuz it it would be deep in there but moving around uh the death of Chris ladyy I still don't believe Chris ladyy took his own life I will never believe Chris Lighty took his own life Chris Lighty was too full of himself to take his own life Chris liy was too full of life too much love for his children and too much love for his for this business for him to take his own life I don't think anybody that was closely associated with Chris in any manner and you were probably closer to Chris Than I Was we were neighbors but he was hardly home he was moving I'm moving it and I own directions we had barbecues together we gave our kids Sumer and Christian you were there you gave them the big birthday party and they both slept on it cuz they was only one years old [ __ ] SP $15,000 a piece on [ __ ] horses all kind of dumb [ __ ] an adult part right but that's how much life Chris had to him so I will never ever ever believe and I don't give a damn with nobody says that Chris Lighty took his own life that's one thing that I will never believe so your son's back to your son's birthday yeah yeah go ahead okay so Chris tells me we I'm going we're going by Nory house right in fact think J at this time in fact not to C you all go ahead continue continue I'm thinking CNN Nory War report we getting ready the bridge I'm not going to the [ __ ] project I get some money now I'm not doing that [ __ ] we turn the corner into this [ __ ] beautiful [ __ ] home and you know okay so I'm thinking okay the house is nice but it's going to smell reek of weed and feet and chips this [ __ ] was living like a Cosby yo when I walked in and [ __ ] me up I'm like this is nor this [ __ ] is nice he out of character yeah way out of his character like it [ __ ] [ __ ] me up cuz I I had it cuz you know in my head I'm like this is what what nor shoot them up kick the building over him compone and this thing was let down watching yes nice couch and [ __ ] sectional it's funny F Jo told me the same thing they like people don't know you live like this exctly think had po per in his house I still do p so oh man oh man yo look all right let's get let's get so he let me just tell you something we've been to do this forever you know I said it in the intro if it really wasn't for you you you you set the standards cuz there was other people on the radio I feel like it was other people that was imitating like they it was one person on the radio then when you got to meet them in person it was a whole different individual yeah you was you one of the first people that I got to see witness for myself you were who you were on the radio you were who you were when I sent you in Queens you were you who you were in real life so we want to give you your flowers face to face manto man Mr Lee we W it up face to face give him his flowers face to face manto man thank you well you know something Nori that's what I always strive to be cuz I grew up listening to radio like every night Frankie oh bro oh wow wow wow and the gifts keep coming beautiful man thank y'all man I appreciate that yeah it's the Frankie Crocker every night right you know it was 8:00 when I there I go there I go came on the radio so you know it was 8 and then I would listen to Chuck Leonard and the cats like that and and I love Chuck lard and all that but he always put on a voice right this is Chuck Leonard that's Old School radio Old School radio [ __ ] so I was like if I ever get the opportunity to get on the radio I'm going to be me and the same person that you going to get outside of the radio is going to be the same person that you going to get on the radio and my man Bugsy big shout out to Bugsy was very instrumental and making sure that I stayed that route and just all you can be is yourself man you can't be nobody else I'm a one1 so that's the way I look at it you know what I mean I'm going do me no matter what I don't even care I'm just going to be me that's fine but all right let's let's bounce around a little bit one of the most one of the first times the industry got to see Pac be out of control like maybe he was out of control before that but it wasn't documented was that YTV rap where you can kind of tell y'all got a relationship already and you know the is not going to like cuz I don't think I don't think when you was stopping him it was about you stopping him dising the huge Brothers I think it was you stopping him and you you correct me if I'm wrong you stopping him because you know where this would have led back then the higher ups and the people was that I was always a a person that think a little bit sometimes and uh I knew when Pac was going off I was like this ain't going to be good because you got a case so you're actually going on television saying that you did what they accused you of right so I was like before you bury yourself anymore let me shut you up bro stop because you know and they suped that [ __ ] they did you know what's funny about the footage after I keep looking at it y'all didn't have to bleep him he edited his own self he was Wilding but he didn't care well I when I look back at it I'm like why don't I have a car can I vest on a no shirt like what the [ __ ] is I thinking I'm on some sexy [ __ ] I'm William what the [ __ ] thinking why I have a shirt on I always look at the stupid [ __ ] so you you you also what I noticed is this show was on six days a week yeah Monday through Friday twice on Saturday yeah that is is a successful ass show yes sir thank you thank you beyond being successful you guys were the front line and broadcasting hip-hop to the world cuz there was you guys were the first one that what were off to the entire country if not even further than that right yeah we in around the world and people were recording it like mix We worldwide yeah we worldwide bro and for from my perspective more so than Dre because Dre had already had a foot in the door and I really didn't I was a fan bro like I would fan the [ __ ] out when I found out certain people were coming to the show I'd be like oh my God Public Enemy is coming Chuck de Dr jamp yeah that's how I am like I I was a fan of the music so to be able to sit down and talk to dudes about their music and they and their art and their culture and if you look back at it at that time it really was about the art it really was about the culture of hip-hop it really was about the music look at some of them old videos nobody's sneakers was clean son right right nobody had no clean sneakers nobody can afford no wardrobe Styles [ __ ] wor whatever they had want there was no wardrobe was no wardrobe change so you had to they wanted to do this [ __ ] like you wanted to be known as being one of the best coming from your neighborhood you want it you know what I mean like they say pressure makes pipes right I mean I mean pressure makes diamonds right so when ks1 dis the whole and [ __ ] TI Queens which pissed me the [ __ ] off cuz I was like all of us ain't got no beef you got you got to be for them queens Rich [ __ ] thinking out on them why you dissing hollon Southside I was [ __ ] pissed it put the pressure on Queens and then look what came out of Queens after that look at the notable [ __ ] that has come from that burel that was so highly disregarded and disrespected that's why I'm so [ __ ] proud to come from Queens bro I'm so proud to be from Queens I wear that [ __ ] like a badge of aror I Got King from Queen tattoo to my arm broam I rock they used they used to disrespect us like crazy call us the desert y'all [ __ ] is corny right ha you know what's crazy uh uh what's ill about that is 5% has made that that that derogatory expression in the desert it made it fly right because 5centers took that and was like the desert and it was like it was cool to be from the desert you know what I'm saying they said Muhammad walked through the desert all the screen I mean but uh I tell you what me me seeing Run DMC me seeing LL come before me knowing where they from it always gave me hope was that something that that that was in YouTube absolutely absolutely being four blocks away from Jam Master J no one watch them making and watch Jay have like crab Feast at his house and invite everybody there I was there when they sent the buses right to to holl Avenue and said anybody want to come to the Garden you come for free that's the night r took the shoe off and held it up they got their Adidas deal at night so everybody wearing an Adida turn the [ __ ] lights on everybody had an Adida on and that's the influ they got the first shoe deal right of a non-athlete right first shoe deal that inspired the [ __ ] out of me man I was like if they can do this and and LL can do it and then salt and pepper is from Queens and crom is from Queens and Ken play is from Queens Eric be is originally from Queens if you see Martin Lawrence SP some time in que Martin Lawrence was in Queens a lot you got Marley and and Shan and shant and then nor them from left ra all of these guys from Queens man running them was the biggest inspiration from me and Russell than anything else knowing that they were that close and they were touchable DMC used to always come around DMC had a big ass Bronco with a [ __ ] freezer built into the back of it with nothing but 40 ounces of Old English a black Bronco did he mention that when we and he always had a rhyme like do you got a rhyme he always had a folded up rhyme in his pocket he pull it out kick a rhyme to you real quick so he was them dudes were very inspiring to me and relatable it seemed like very relatable hell yeah a lot of people don't know it was one time that they dressed like like different and then they took super nerds my [ __ ] with the Plaid jackets on that corny [ __ ] that was Jay yeah J Jay is the whole style everything D don't deny it run don't deny it they say they got all that [ __ ] from Jay Jay was the one that had the theida on the [ __ ] big rope chain and [ __ ] Jay did all that yeah you know Jay is man damn rest in peace yeah rest in peace one of the one of the greatest of all time bro now you also we we we love the story the grandma yay story were big well well I love that story because uh I don't know if big invented that but to this day there's people who drink a half a bottle of champagne and they will mix it with some whole other [ __ ] but let me be honest with you the first time I heard of any of that ever is you telling the story are you were big that's the night he died that's the night he died that's the night he got killed Peterson Automotive Museum matter of fact it's funny shout out Kenny Burns cuz I just got off the phone with Kenny Burns earlier today Kenny called me cuz he said he was in the gym and he was working out and he was mouthing the words to hypnotize mad loud and he said some dude came up to him and said yo man I just heard Ed Lover talking about you and about the night dialog we were all there dialog yeah we were we were all there man and uh he was sitting there he had had that car accent with se he had the cane and he was sitting there and he used to always he would never call me Ed he would or Ed Ed Edwin all the time Edwin and I call him Christopher Christopher Edwin all the time and he he gave me a bottle of D PE and he was like drink half this [ __ ] oh you know I'm like how the [ __ ] I'm supposed to drink half a bottle of D PE [ __ ] I'm drunk already some [ __ ] something that's just big bring it back to the halfway point and then I did I took it around and we was all yelling show me the money cuz that movie had just came out and we was whing we giving everybody champagne I brought it back the [ __ ] reached down p b Grand filled it back up and gave it back to me now I'm looking at this [ __ ] like get the [ __ ] out there with this [ __ ] that's kind of D he was think that mix no I didn't I didn't drink it I gave the rest of that [ __ ] out I didn't drink that a recipe for disaster absolutely damn holy moly um bouncing around right one thing about you I believe we did hot night Jama at one time right you feel remember with that and one thing um I loved was you immediately became the leader on the bus like soon as you came like I could tell this wasn't your first time there right but I felt like what that [ __ ] when you in college fraternity fraternity like you that's how I feel about hip-hop yeah that's what I'm saying you let me just tell you something you that day you and Angie like being the uh the the the the the ogs at that time especially still now but it was like y took control and Y was showing us younger artists how to move even how to like yo just how you check into the hotel you done do that right I haven't felt like that since like it feels like it feels like it's more of a I want to battle you and be better than you then I want to teach you situation and I don't want to turn into that guy yo in my day you know we we we should do this and do that but I just want to also state facts like you embrac the new artist I feel like Angie embraced a new artist if flex lik your record he would embrace you and red alert yeah red alert everybody um right now and I'm not everybody that name was DJs and DJ's Personality yeah cuz you no artist you're saying yeah so but I'm saying um yeah there was artists at that time pun embraced me Joe embraced me uh Nas embraced me mob deep embraced me but I don't see that going on do you feel that fraternity love go um no because I think I don't I I don't feel it because I think first of all radio is changed right radio's changed so much and and it's okay everybody wants to get their money but I kind of feel like we were still fans we know what we did we know the impact that we had in the community but we're still fans and so at the same time we excited about talking to you excited that you was coming excited to embrace you on your new record I feel like some of these radio personalities think they just as big as the artist that they're talking to I never felt like that I always felt the most important thing was the artist so if we could show you by leadership just that's how you can stop being an artist for a while like we're on the bus Nori we're in Jamaica you don't have to be norer right now you can just be who you are let's go to duns River Falls and [ __ ] slip on the rocks and have a good [ __ ] time let's smoke some bud and let's chill out I think Patrick was there and she cooked [ __ ] hot ass jerk chicken almost killed all of us [ __ ] was delicious though but that's that's the environment that we always wanted to set for everybody that this is the time until you get on that stage of perform you around us we just here to have a good time [ __ ] all the other [ __ ] we ain't going to stick no mic in your face ain't nobody secretly recording nothing we just wanted to have have a good time with you like but but that sounds like true Community where it got to a point now where like it's not just radio it's all of media but all of hip-hop where a lot of people jumped into the fold who didn't really care or were fans of the culture right so then to get in here either right oh this could make me money I could jump into this Lane they're not truly they don't care to culate to take care of the culture do right by it just like when you decided to not rhyme because you respected the respect [ __ ] out of l oh yeah right yeah um how do how do we um how do we bring that feeling back how do we bring that Community back where ad could call could call the baby and be like yo the baby you know I I man I wish I knew man cuz I would I would love to drop some jewels on these dudes on how to keep their money and how to how to [ __ ] stay out of prison and how not to react act that I think that's one of the biggest things that that they have to learn and that a lot of people have to learn just us period as people that we got to move off of logic and not move off of emotion you can't let every time somebody say something to you make you react towards them in a violent manner or any other manner sometimes you just got to let that [ __ ] be wored off a duck's back and keep going there's many times in my career where I would be in the mall even with my kids bro I'm in the mall and somebody behind me like yo you know that's at love and you know when somebody trying to [ __ ] that [ __ ] man nobody give a [ __ ] about that [ __ ] instead of me spinning and be like [ __ ] you too and getting into some [ __ ] I just go all right y'all come on let's go cuz it ain't worth it man it's they want to make a name and especially today 24hour newsing camer start costing you money it's like it's a trap it's a trap so if they listen there's there's a lot of OG's like yourself like you like me I would love to talk to him I would I definitely be I'm be honest I definitely would like to L my expertise but I also don't want to was my time too like you know what I'm saying like I how dumb I was at that age and I know I wasn't listening to somebody but if somebody listen to me I would let my time absolutely I would um you ever thought hip hop get this dumb damn no it's just me people ask me that I think the Hip Hop would get this far yes but this dumb no no I I don't I I don't think it's dumb I think it's some real credible great young artist out there that I enjoy listening to I really really do I just think that the Avenue for [ __ ] is wide [ __ ] wide open [ __ ] makes more money yes like we get how do we close that Gap there's other people that got something to say and then there's no balance that's the only problem we we had balance we had the balance we had the x-clan and Public Enemy and then we didn't understand why po to me NWA Public Enemy was perfect balance at that time perfect balance and was too he had he intelligence and he had Street smarts absolutely so if if biging them was saying I mean not big if snooping them was saying [ __ ] ain't [ __ ] but holes and tricks Latifa say Who you calling a [ __ ] I punch him dead in the eye Who you calling the [ __ ] uplifting women we had Lauren Hill right you know you had Nicki D and all of that daddy's little girl you had Eve talking about abuse being abused you know from from the perspective of her looking at her girl being abused you had that kind of stuff on record as well as us enjoying the hardcore [ __ ] now it's just dumb [ __ ] and it's not lyrical at all you really don't have to be nice which pisses the [ __ ] [ __ ] out of me I hate it you don't have to be nice you just have to be catchy and they be like H it's a Vibe it's a Vibe it's a Vibe like okay this [ __ ] ain't for me all right I'm fine with it but go make your money I'm happy about me too me too make much money as you can off the [ __ ] I'm very happy about that yeah I don't ever like to blame the artists that are doing it because going making money no I blame the the audience's fault for saying I want to be this dumb still artist for though like I don't I can't you can't they will try their ass off and then when that [ __ ] they that they trying don't work they go right to the L low hanging FR let think about put my diig in your face put my diig in your face be like oh [ __ ] you couldn't get away with no no crazy La lyrics in late ' 80s earlys not true there's always been whacking SE plent always been whack exctly there's been whack and se's but you could barely rarely get away with it I agree with that but there's always been people who who who got over that hump yeah yeah that's always been remember that [ __ ] but that career lasted so long you had to rapping you had to rapping D he became an executive and he an executive too he was actually you [ __ ] with real hip hop I just seen somebody do an interview with the rapping duke the other day Duke the Duke the the remember him hell yeah yeah Vanilla Ice was trash too I love ra I love raing I met him I met him we went we we went to Russia together I love the dude as but he was not a great rapper we got to take a drink to that he's named after py Van Winkle give him a give him a new drink give him a new drink when he came out he could dance though that was he put the entertainment value into but as a rapper come on all of us was mad at that so stretch yes let's talk about the super legend I I wanted to say Queens but that that'll be so limited to New York City New York City I I want to say worldwide because if you bring up the beginning of Pop right after Digital Underground it goes straight to stretch stretches from the live Squad stretch uh actually BR Tupac to left Rack City you know obviously stretch had a relationship with e money bags who who Who's from my building grew up there before he moved to springield rest in peace eat money bag rest in peace eat money bags yes so let's talk about that era cuz you grew up with stretch no stretch came to me when they was trying to get a record there Tommy Boy yes I got them signed to Tommy you got them sign of time through Latifa I played their demo for Latifa Latifa set up the meeting with Monica and Monica signed them and then they did that short short form video that was like three songs in short for oh when they was killing people that [ __ ] was crazy it SP like $900,000 on that video get out of here yeah three songs and one long video that connected all the songs and that's because um that's the rumor is that Pac reached out because Pac liked that gangster [ __ ] like he saw that they met on a set of juice oh they met set of juice yeah I was in juice if you blink you miss me standing behind Lao I've been looking for you for when she when she announces the winner I'm right behind her I don't say [ __ ] I'm just standing there but I'm there all day just to shoot that [ __ ] and we make and we knew Pac because we knew shock Digital Underground knew shot so we knew Pac when Pac was Ro and then Pac was playing bishop and then them [ __ ] smoke like chimney so they smoking and talking and and the next thing you know boom they friends man they friends and they was deep friends too real good stretch and pck yeah real good friends yeah um go ahead ask the hard question I I want to because I don't want to blame their relationship on big that they fell out cuz didn't they fall out a little bit before that they were together when the shooting happened they were together oh that's got to be the they was together so so so in lack of a better term well they went to the building together they walked in the building together wow wow yeah I it was more than it was think I think Freddy was there too and I think not fat F but my man Freddy from Queens I think he was one them too right and everybody knows that's from New York I want to say everybody from Queens but everybody knows in New York who is that crew that was affiliated with that Young Guns yeah honey bags gam shout out gam shout out h e money all of them yep so M stretch brother match what what what would what would it be if Pac didn't go to Unique Studios that night unique requ quad sorry quad quad whole different ball game bro you want to tell you want me to tell you what I think Pac would have been today yes the most impressive actor out of all rap actors probably would have already been nominated for an Academy Award and would have definitely been on the front lines of black lives matter absolutely would have been on he was a panther at heart bro he really cared about his people he cared he loved his black people he would have been at the Forefront of that [ __ ] definitely would have been at the Forefront of it and I believe he'd have probably already won Academy Award he was gifted bro he was that good as an actor he was just natural right it wasn't no work for him he was natural now I'm bouncing around a little bit come I'm come back to that now one of the other I mean you have so many classic Moments One one of the classic moments is like the first time I got to see wuang all together right like it was so early Ghost Face had like a dog he didn't even have the he wasn't even showing his face then right face and I I watched that interview and it's so funny to me because I know when you coming off the street the street taught you at that time not to look at the camera like to be like you know what I mean and all of them is doing the same exact thing but you and Ed is holding it down conducting bro you talking about when I had the karate G the karate G on and I was Papa woo no no that that's that was the second time that's the first time you had him on that time them [ __ ] was ready to kill me my [ __ ] them [ __ ] did not think that was funny at all like I'm behind them kicking in the air and punching doing my your own TV [ __ ] yeah them [ __ ] was not happy son oh no but that was after they blew up that was after they blew up [ __ ] the only thing that saved me that day is meth started laughing when meth laughed everybody eased up but they rayquan told me this years ago [ __ ] we was really wanting to [ __ ] you up right there right there but that's probably the second time the first time I met these [ __ ] [ __ ] hilarious I'm on Jones Beach it's the Greek Fest on Jones Beach remember this [ __ ] we used to go to Greek Fest Jones Beach I'm jean shorts Tims straight New York gy Hat wife beat her 19 [ __ ] surround me yo he love her I'm like what's good we're the wuang clan I was like word stand down in Brooklyn we in here yo we want to give you our tape I see the rizer and I said I know you Prince we play your video we love you Ro them [ __ ] lost no it's a [ __ ] R now they wasn't associating with that Prince raim [ __ ] that [ __ ] was trash to them then I then I recognize the jizza cuz he was on Cafe I said the jiz but they didn't really want to associate they like nah the wuang clan we'll get you our tape my [ __ ] you know what I'm saying blah blah blah so they gave me the tape and it was protecting neck on one side and the other side was Method Man yeah me ended up being the single I remember getting in my car playing this tape and it's the most incredible [ __ ] I had ever heard in my life I was like how do they seamlessly make these many people sound good sound like a unit it was nothing like it right and damn right after that they were the very first guest we had on when we signed on to do Hot 97 Morning Show tank Clan was our first guest Wow first guest yeah the way that you met them probably the music matched that exactly that energy right but that's the Riz that's the genius of sequencing from the rizer understanding who sounds best right behind other people I've asked him a question before he told me he has a version of cream that's him in ghost face it's them two but he probably was like Noe but when he put Ray and deck on it he heard it he said that sounds better than us I'm taking us off so as a producer how do you have so much love for your clan that you're willing to not shine so that they can shine he said their verses sounded better than what me and ghost did so we took me and ghost off the [ __ ] wow R is genius shout out and I believe RZ and ghost is like the only ones that's really family like even though family by marriage by marriage by children by children yes those you had a lot of kids yeah yes with r sister yeah God damn it they still love each other sounded crazy that sh sounded crazy to me too when I heard did you ever see you ever got to see uh woo and um Nas show together yes yo was crazy fing dop I buy merch I'm just a [ __ ] fan man I don't ask for [ __ ] I just want to go backstage and say hi to [ __ ] just just be in the presence of them and they so [ __ ] funny cuz what they sound like on the record if you just around them that's how they talk to each other Yo God yo peace God like like all the skits and [ __ ] the same [ __ ] bro this the same [ __ ] and even when they did the the uh the TV series the young dudes that played them when they were around each other they sounded like the they talked to each other like they were in character yes I told you had me scared to death and um out there he had he had Japanese whiskey and vodka and I was like I ain't [ __ ] with you cuz that do not go together at all likei yeah he had y he yamazaki I believe and he had um Gray Goose and I was like I love yamazaki I love hiiki but I'm not mixing it with no Gray Goose hell no hell no um now I'mma ask you a question that you asked yourself earlier you ever thought the hip hoper make it this far yeah I did yeah I did I never thought that I would be this involved in hip-hop even even have people call me OG or call me icon I never thought that would happen for me and I'm so grateful that it did but I just knew that hip-hop was something special and I knew that all them cats like I remember we interviewed Bruce Willis and he's like hip hop ain't gonna do this ain't going to do that yeah he didn't like hip-hop my father didn't understand this my father like what's all that be B boo anybody could do that I'm like Dad it's music it's poetry it's the last poets it's Gil Scott that you've played in the house for me a million times it's Pig me Markham right y'all played Pig me Markham for me when I was a kid he was rapping Right Here Comes The Judge here ye hear ye to call us swing I'm just about ready to do my thing that's rap and was just we took it and we did something else with it we took something from nothing at all and made something special out of it so I knew once it went that it was the youth movement it was a youth m music is never going to go anywhere it's never going anywhere hip-hop will never die never so let me ask you we touched on earlier and then efn the subject for a second um now you guys blow up you guys get the chance uh to do this movie I think it was new line you guys yeah new line who's the man a three three pcture deal yeah three pcture deal but what made you say I'mma stick with Ted Demi as opposed to going with BR because Ted put me on that's his man he put me on he had did a movie a short film uhuh when he was in film school and he put me on so we went in and fought with new line we're not doing movie unless Ted directs it wow because Ted put me on bro Ted is the reason why I went from a high school safety officer in Andrew Jackson High School to being worldwide known the next [ __ ] year wow that's because of Ted Ted pushed the green light Ted's the one that said I want this unknown guy named ed lover and I want this guy named Dr Dre and this is what I want and he fought for me even in the early days when we was a half an hour and they was trying to make all these adjustments to the show Ted fought for us Ted and Peter God Rest both their souls they fought for us so it was a no-brainer for me to say it's Ted or it's nothing and what was Ted and Zack Ro of MTV Ted was executive producer y tv rap wow and he was a producer first and then he was executive producer of Y TV raps and then you know he just became a big film and television director throughout his career died way too early too and wasn't the show one of the highest rated shows on M the highest rated show in the [ __ ] history ofv and don't let tell you don't let them tell you different and what [ __ ] pissed me off when they did the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop and MTV did that thing they didn't invite us they didn't mention it they didn't say [ __ ] I don't know what the [ __ ] is wrong with them we've been trying to do our own documentary they won't [ __ ] loan out the footage and [ __ ] God yeah they be on some [ __ ] bro let me ask you what would who's the Man movie look like today in new new all with all of Y if at one point I said if I did a Who too I would want my man from Saturday Night Live uh they do all the Impressions Keenan Keen to play Dre son oh okay and at right after drum line I was thinking Nick Canon to play my son right and somebody would kidnap Dre and I'm like a captain or a lieutenant now and then they rookies following our footsteps to find out where Dre is I could see that then but now with all the young young cats in it but now you got great cats like DC youngfly and all all them cats that I'm so [ __ ] I think Nick hanon can still play you even though he had he like your age right now got enough kids though he got enough kids to be your AG kid aging the [ __ ] out of you [ __ ] that's right Kean um so um I heard that Dre didn't get his name because everyone thought either Dr Dre B for Dr Dre or Dr Dr Dre for Dr Dre two different well thank you to Dr Dre from the West Coast because we got a trip to Russia because of Dr Dre from the West Coast cuz they called our manager at the time Charlie Stettler who played beaka in crush gr wow and was The Fat Boys manager that was our manager for a long time they called him thinking he managed Dr Dre from the west coast and they wanted him for the [ __ ] called the Festival of the white knights in Russia where it only gets it only it sounded wild to me I was like that sounds some clany [ __ ] right the white nights yeah what happens is it only gets dark for an hour and then in [ __ ] Sunshine again wow in Russia so he was like no but I got Dr Dre and Ed Lover from the TV raps and okay bring them and then we bought salt and pepper and [ __ ] uh your man um Tel ice with us and we just [ __ ] had a great time and that's because of Dr but Dre got his name from Dr Dr Dre Jay Dr J Dr J cuz Dre was a little chubby ball boy for the Nets when they were in Long Island is he also an Andre he's Andre so like Andre Brown yeah both of them Andre yeah they're both Andre but you know mad Dr Dre M Dre right right yeah all kind of dreads well not that many Doctor dreads not that many and back then especially back then you would be confused without social media and you had to get when I was on the radio I I almost sent a cease and desist letter to a radio personality out of Atlanta called Chris yes I was like this [ __ ] is not using lover on the radio it's only going to be one cuz I went about it the right way I asked sco and scrap could I could I use love I asked oh sco yeah you don't just bite a [ __ ] [ __ ] no ask they was like nah go I was like cool and this [ __ ] pop up Chris Love Love I was like oh hell [ __ ] no and then it turned out to be ludicrous so I'm so glad I didn't do that [ __ ] been mad at me for where everybody's little something still like how many decades of Littles have we had artists oh my God Littles you know who killed me with the who I thought should have been little I love the [ __ ] but big sea the first time I met him I was like how are you big sea you just a small [ __ ] he's not big little Sean for real yeah maybe he didn't want to be little Sean was already a little was a little Sean for real it's mad Litt little baby is not like little you would think they would face that out by now but Littles is still going they still going took over for a while took for a while yeah Jay had young ho Jay still throw young ho out every now I liked it I was like [ __ ] it the yeah it took all the D's the littles and the young but but who's the man going back was the obviously the focus always to do a movie that was going to expose all these artists put all these artist no that was something that Dre and I said we wanted to you remember uh I don't know if youall remember Gumball Rally back in the days all them [ __ ] used to have all these cameos but all these different right Cannonball Cannonball Run and all of that [ __ ] even on like the airplane joints there'd be mad cameos so we was like we have this opportunity let's give all these rap artists that we can muster up you know who was supposed to be in it it didn't didn't show up rockim no Mary J BL was in it wasn't he Mary supposed to sing uh at the funeral oh wow I don't know what happened but we was there all day they couldn't find Mary so we like ble L you singing full force [ __ ] you already in the movie yeah Mary was supposed to be in that [ __ ] no no to this day if you a hip-hop fan and you watch who's the man you still notice people that you like oh I didn't know that was him like you know what I mean like then it was iller cuz you don't you don't see these people on camera all the time okay I I was still kind of Rel to a lot of people C wasn't prevalent everywhere but you you're absolutely right but to me is iller now because like you said I I knew these people voices and now with the internet now I know how certain people look like I like I really didn't know how uh NWA looked for a long time you know what I'm saying because I didn't get a I wasn't privileg to see their videos but when I watch uh who's the man I'm like damn I still to this day like damn oh that's who that was right there yeah we had Chris Cross in that [ __ ] right we hadwick Bill IC tea love y how the [ __ ] did you get all these people ask them just ask Ted just reached out asked him everybody nobody said no everybody said yes it was it was just that simple everybody like yeah why not wow Guru and Guru too yeah recip gur was there anyone who said no re no Cyprus is in it too Cy in it yeah be real yeah be real is my man though yeah be real is ill man I I went to LA one time be real uh invited me to one of them cholo barbecues cholo barbecue everyone has their socks up high yeah one of them like in the hood hood like straight like Mexican Mafia type [ __ ] where [ __ ] sitting on the porch with a shotgun when I pulled up and the [ __ ] look and then then some [ __ ] walked to the gate you know like one of them Baby Joker looking [ __ ] scare you [ __ ] whole head got a spider we youer before yeah that kind of [ __ ] he want up go oh you the homie ass lover right I'm like yeah I had a [ __ ] great time with them [ __ ] we had ball and then when I was getting ready to go back downtown the [ __ ] surrounded me in their cars to make sure you got wrote me all the way back downtown and then be real calls me and goes yo was one of the home girls in there that kind of like you be I like no I'm not no no don't be real that might be one of them [ __ ] baby little little Joker sister or something I'm not [ __ ] with them [ __ ] no sir do you ever realize like the love you got like you know by you playing this neutral in the time where life wasn't neutral but you was being neutral in in that time and and it it it's somewhat I'm not not somewhat it gives you like I've never like and you could tell me if this is if I'm bugging out or I'm exaggerating like I've never really seen somebody mad at that level like like and I don't think you will either wow because I mind my [ __ ] business bro right and even if I have a conflict with somebody about something I'm always the one that say okay let's talk about it and we could talk about it we get past it I think that's one of the traits I got from from my dad you know what I mean if your business it doesn't directly affect me or my family or my kids it really ain't got nothing to do with me so I didn't get involved in that [ __ ] I was a little upset that Pac didn't come to stretches funeral I was upset and me and I talked about it and it was stretch funeral was in New York it was in New York okay yeah and I was when the [ __ ] was but Pac was his daughter's Godfather and so am mine so I kind of felt a certain way about it right you know and you you say you spoke about parac about that oh we spoke yeah we talked about it that's when sh told me that he liked me cuz I stepped a parck as a man he said you know we could have beat the [ __ ] out you I said yeah right I knew it but he was like you came as a man I was like leave him alone he got something to say leave the [ __ ] alone what's the biggest difference between Tupac IND Digital Underground and Tupac Death Row Tupac Death Row was coming into his own as an artist Tupac Digital Underground had to stand behind Digital Underground you know he only really had that verse clown around when clown around he was coming into his own as a solo artist right there able to express himself to the heights that he wanted to express himself but he did have the two albums before was it two or three before death row days it was like two I think it was two I think a Bigg part of the difference I mean you knew him more the media the media sh but it seemed also the jail time too you saw a different side of him after the shooting that change you as a I always forget that shooting and then jail I I always forget that part I I forget the shooting and the jail part all all I say is Digital Underground and then I always forget I was a fan of P coming out of out of Digital Underground and his first albums were amazing to me was that strictly for my [ __ ] two Apocalypse Now y Apocalypse Now and Then you know he had the the shooting with the cops and all that but he was he was a certain version of himself and then after the quad Studio stuff then jail and then death row that seemed like a different person a little bit to me from outside looking in it seemed like a different he was gr he was growing as an artist right you got and people got to realize he was young super young I said it all the time super young and man every time every time I talk on on about Tupac my [ __ ] I get so much Tupac hate and B both kids man all the time you haed you a hater On Tupac I love that [ __ ] with all my heart and soul we broke bread and my mama's house with this dude to sit on the step I don't understand how people could say that I ever hated Tupac I didn't I'm just not going to believe what people try to tell me about stretch I'm just not going to believe it like we said you're not going to believe Chris Lighty I'm not ever going to believe stretch set pack up in the quad I'm not buying that [ __ ] so you saying that was cuz I I never heard that rumor and if I did hear that the [ __ ] Dex I think his name is Dex Lawrence okay he was one of the dudes that ran in On Tupac okay triy to make a name for himself for some reason he wanted to say stretch had something to do with it n and I'm like come on I'm not believing I'm sorry I'm not going to believe it I'm just not that's my dude I'm not going to believe that [ __ ] and but it's always [ __ ] that wasn't dead that's the [ __ ] that killed me it's always some 20 19y old [ __ ] hit me on my DM and I'm asking you how old were you I'm 19 and PO said I said [ __ ] you wasn't dead shut the [ __ ] up right you wasn't there [ __ ] I can't talk all I can talk about is what I seen that's all I can talk about I can't talk about what I didn't see I can't talk about an era I can't tell you [ __ ] uh David Ruffin I wasn't around then [ __ ] come on these [ __ ] want to tell me [ __ ] that [ __ ] kill me yeah that kills me bro it kills me I Liv the gifted life man I love that dude with all of my heart and soul and the last thing we said to each other when he was coming out of that hotel and I had the bety boot with [ __ ] gorgeous Bishop Don Juan and all of them [ __ ] pretty they try to give me a ho that's right try to get me a hoe I don't have the capacity to be a pimp and we talk we talked and he said are you coming to sh's club and I was doing something for Chris lad on that night and I was like yeah I might stop by but the back of my mind I'm like it's a East Coast West Coast beef y'all get get drunk you're going to beat the [ __ ] out of me I'm not going over Vegas Yes in Vegas that night and I said I love you bro he said I love you too walked out I ain't never been on no Dis Track that Pac was talking about lot the [ __ ] y fig [ __ ] kills me it hurts me too I wish [ __ ] would stop doing that right but you yeah yeah let's do it you want to explain Again by the way part of me want you to the dis act that I watch y you talking about I'm I know who's coming look part of you wants you to drink some of this but then the other part does not I was want to be selfish and just drink this I'm good I stick my [ __ ] this is this is so good man part of me doesn't want you drink I've seen that Mama okay all right go ahead you ready all right so well you know you know the rules then I know the rules if I don't take one of the if I go neutral I got still got to do sh okay all right and then you know this is meant to diss nobody I know it's just my personal opinion I hope nobody gets upset cuz I'm going answer honestly stories too any stories any stories you got yeah yeah yeah Tupac or DMX pop okay I knew you was gonna say that all right this one this one I think we should get a shot but X is one of the illest [ __ ] I ever left you got any any crazy story with x x I had X when I was remember when I went to P 105 yes and they they bought starbu wild and it was in the morning I went to the afternoon but they still had me under contract to do the mornings in case some [ __ ] do something crazy and they did against envy and that's how I ended up back on the mornings but remember when I was in the afternoons I had Oprah remember I had opr I'm the only [ __ ] that had OA Jamie Fox hook that up so I had Oprah so X comes in afternoon so I'm asking X ask how'd you get here I drove I said you just got arrested for [ __ ] drive like [ __ ] that I got a car I'm driving my [ __ ] that's I and he had tar with him now tar was his first wife right so the [ __ ] is standing there and he's telling me this [ __ ] he goes yo y hey you know music is playing we just talking you know first time I ever met my wife I told her I loved her right baby first night I ever met her she's like yeah he did he told me he love her so I said that to get the [ __ ] but then I real then I realized that I really did love her I still got the [ __ ] and the [ __ ] told me that [ __ ] told me he said yo uh uh I did I did the how was going I did what they really want for the [ __ ] I did that song I took the [ __ ] to Death Jam and they was like it's good but you need somebody to sing on this [ __ ] the [ __ ] sound good and I was like well who y'all going to put on there what we going to do the [ __ ] said let's get the [ __ ] Cisco he's on the label I I didn't really I you know the [ __ ] you know dogs up you know the [ __ ] the blond head I didn't know if the [ __ ] was like you know you know X is X is a character my [ __ ] is genuine though he's genuine as a [ __ ] I tell I'll tell you how crazy ex is my dog is this big X came over my crib and made my dog a pit bull I promise you my dog I got a teacup yie this [ __ ] DMX It's on film I promise you it's on film I got it he's this big and DMX came to my dog and was like and I've never seen this in my life my dog was like I didn't even know he had those type of teeth that's how ill X is okay Nas or Jay-Z Queens Nas okay all right all right cool I missing Que disrespect Jay Jay to me is the probably one of the greatest living rappers right now because I'll say this about Jay and Nas Nas is an artist artist like when Nas did the eso [ __ ] and [ __ ] started clowning him about the [ __ ] he finally realized that I want to do a lot of art a lot of times Nas don't give a [ __ ] if he make a record album with a radio single on it right he's going to make the music he wants to make wants to make and he's from Queen so I'm going with I'm going with him but Jay is incredible if Jay made aord right now everybody be like what he jumped on what what and you know what I like about both of them all of the latest materials sound like them now yeah don't sound like them then and and I mean that in an compliment because yeah absolutely yeah absolutely the four when he did the 445 album 444 444 I gave an extra minute on extra minute when Jay did that when home did that I I always told Jay I always love the more more introspective Jay than any other Jay because a Lyricist and I loved him like when he did the pop love me raise me that [ __ ] the introspective Dre um um JayZ that's the Jay-Z I love the most right yeah they're updated versions of themselves wuang or NWA wuang wuang right and I love NWA but EP two albums yeah yeah wuang and and the reason why I say wuang is because of what spawned off of wuang and the success that everybody that spawn off of wuang had if you do that then you could do that with NWA leg legitimate easy was first and then Dre of course Fu cube of course that's a great argument a great argument those are two who do it the the Colombian and um Dominican over there those are the two who put these questions together you could potentially track the lineage to Kendrick from NWA absolutely absolutely LL or Big Daddy Kane [ __ ] take a shot you saying both no I can't I gotta say l man I'm going L all I love Kane but I got longevity counts right yes yes yes that that new album is still fire right yeah I'm got to go L L's new album yeah okay okay yeah it's fire ready yeah Lauren Hill or Missy Elliot Lauren okay nothing against Missy I love Missy I love Missy I mean I love Missy too right IID have took Missy down son I love yeah yeah took it down son she know I love her she know I love my wife know I love Miss come on definitely love me some miss miss beautiful goding bro I like the big Missy too little chubby yeah I like he yeah the garbage B Miss H that's the one for me son yeah hell yeah I love I love you baby beautiful miss is love I love you baby red man or meod man drink let's go fck drink on that drink drink to me meth red is one of the most underrated rappers ever to me red man you said m n red is one of the illst man he's one of the illst Bro right and both of them together they're kindrick Spirits man ABS my [ __ ] one time oh God you said you said stories stor let's go I'm in La they playing the House of Blues remember the House of Blues there on Sunset Nory remember that [ __ ] remember that yeah [ __ ] was right there so the [ __ ] called me yo come hang out with us we doing the House of Blues they right across the street at the [ __ ] hotel I'm in the hotel with them why did I decide I'm going to smoke weed with these [ __ ] I don't know why I did that don't tell me it was dust I no it wasn't dust I Ain never been dust now I smoked weed with them [ __ ] and we go across the street they send the the Sprinter to get the [ __ ] the [ __ ] like [ __ ] that Sprinter House of Blues is right there right we walking across the street we just [ __ ] walking out in traffic on Sunset we don't give a [ __ ] high as [ __ ] we get backstage they get ready to go on I said I'mma go in the audience and watch the show I went home I was so [ __ ] up I went home [ __ ] leg was numb I don't know where I was at I went to [ __ ] home [ __ ] Red Man and me and me [ __ ] always got this [ __ ] with us that we just we just snap on each other whenever we see each other it's not like a hello it's not like a yo what's good how the kids it's always look at this big nose [ __ ] pick your nose with boxing glov ass [ __ ] that's to this day that's how we are so I can't choose between them two I respect that Gangstar or Eric V and rock Kim Eric being and rock Kim okay and only because Rock Kim is probably one of the most important MC's we have ever seen on the faces Earth he's the god MC he put words together his lineage if you go look at Rock Kim line is Nas is on that tree Jay is on that tree big is on that tree Guru is on that tree on that tree GP is on that tree the the everything was aggressive before Rock pun is on that tree pun is definitely on thate remember we've had a lot of people from you on the tree yeah I'm a lot of people from different parts of the country from the West Coast from the south that you would have thought and they would say rockim they're part of that lineage as well I love I love when we have people from the west coast and then they give us they top the top five and they and and top top three of them usually is is the real MC's from back there of course yeah Ro Kim is is is is dumb important know roim said [ __ ] yeah and then he said [ __ ] that made me say what my name is rimal and ARA a stand for ra spin it around it still comes out a and it does yeah I'm like what the [ __ ] the seven MC's in the line is one of the [ __ ] you know one of the greatest s MC's in line take seven more before I go for M yeah that's 21 MC 7 * 3 is 21 get the [ __ ] out of here and he was gangster without without cursing curs absolutely and without saying gangster [ __ ] just think about it like back then people used to be like yo uh don't let your kids listen to the rap because of the curses it was never because of the content people couldn't really understand metaphors so rock Kim was probably the only people that kids was listening to and parents wasn't catching on that this was gangster yeah yeah absolutely he's still he's still one of my favorite dudes man I remember uh I had this Gucci link chain on big stupid Gucci link [ __ ] Hollow as a [ __ ] I bought off the [ __ ] was huge I'm sporting [ __ ] so I'm around Eric B Rock they crew Supreme magnetic all them Spanish Supreme Spanish know so them [ __ ] is Puerto Rican Supreme magnetic right and uh 50 Cent with him the real 50 Cent so the [ __ ] tell me uh Ed you know I was going to get you for that chain I was like what what the [ __ ] who said that yeah you know how I get down I about to get you for that chain But Eric and said you know that's my man at LEL leave him alone wow I said so fif what the [ __ ] do you think was going to be the outcom you robbing me like you think you just going to rob me and I was going to be okay with it like what the [ __ ] you talking about but the [ __ ] told me he was going to rob me thank you Eric being Rock him cuz ibly got all right the locks or Run DMC oh come on bro take a take a shot all right yeah come on longevity plays a part of it right the locks have more longevity than running D but they the most important [ __ ] that ever happened to me because if it wasn't for them agreeing to do that pilot I would have never been on your own TV raps talk about Run DMC Run DMC man hell yeah oh my God super important to me super important to Queens period right you know so gez the first ones on MTV the first ones on Rolling Stone they did live a like come on they was doing stadiums I remember I did a commercial with run it was um when beats first started their streaming service before they sold it to um apple and a lot of people don't know that's what Apple actually bought they bought the streaming service and took the headphones and gave like a billion dollars in Jimmy IV and all of them right but it was the streaming service CU they had the in infrastructure already and apple wanted streaming service so they bought that so me and run did a commercial together that actually aired during the Super Bowl m and I asked Ron I said who was your stiffest competition when you was rying he said we did Peter Piper and I said we got one and he said I got it from fairy tale Lover from uto the song fairy tale lover and I said D we need to make a song like that so we started writing Peter Piper Pig peppers and run Rock RS and he said I thought we had him and he said that [ __ ] LL came out what I need love he was like this [ __ ] right here and then I asked him another question I said us one dis job subliminally why he said teachers wear crowns the teachers stay intelligent talking silly RS on a mic is still irrelevant especially when you're not College material that was a disc to Run DMC Kings wear crowns I'm the king of R but teachers stay intelligent right so I asked Ron why didn't y'all say something about it Ron said I was doing stadiums and he was doing clubs if IID acknowledged him I've been pulling him up to my level I said okay that makes sense and then he said and the [ __ ] was nice he said me and D ain't want to [ __ ] with that [ __ ] that [ __ ] was nice podcast or Radio podcast podcast and I'm on the radio and I'm saying that and I have my own podcast come up drink to it any podast podcast and I'm G tell you why radio has to stop operating like it's 1993 83 or 87 they need to go to the FCC and say after a certain time we need to be able to say what the [ __ ] we want to say because that's the reason why people come to podcast right because you could say whatever you want to say you could be as raw as you want to be you could be as opinionated as you want to be you could be who you want to be that's why they're trying these companies that have radio stations are investing in podcast right because podcast is raw as you see television change they you get the [ __ ] raw you get you you get the house of the dragons and crazy [ __ ] like that you get Dexter you get the [ __ ] that Deion Cole got you know Average Joe and and shows like that it ain't the Cosby's no more right and radio's still dealing with it in that manner right and they don't want to make stars no more radio used to make stars they made Flex a star they made me and Dre and and Lisa Stars they made Ang a star they made The Breakfast Club Stars they not want to they don't want to be invested in that cuz they don't want to pay no [ __ ] body so podcasting all day bro it's funny the way you say the uncensored part cuz that's why Pirate Radio at least down south it was so big that's right we took it was radio but it was uncensored doing whatever we wanted to do okay hold on GL I Luke or ianelli AKA from Queens but I'mma say Luke I'mma say Luke because Luke was the first dude that I saw that had his own pressing plants his own trucks his own everything he was mtown for more time and Luke gave us Trick Daddy he gave us Pitbull he gave us two Live Crew wrest brother Maris Poison Clan all that Luke is like to me one of the most important label owners before anybody else Luke had no middleman it wasn't no Arista above him it was no Sony above him it was no inter scope above him everybody else had a boutique label Luke had his own real [ __ ] record label I used to watch the [ __ ] press his records up in the way house sleeve them wrap them and put them shits in the truck and go out across the country and and on the Luke record Luke Skywalker records before they got him for the Skywalker [ __ ] and and and take that [ __ ] all over the place plus Luke's for for our rights to say what the [ __ ] we wanted to say onal Luke absolutely and we just had Luke on here let yeah big up L he talked about how no disrespect aell I [ __ ] love Luke talked about he took advantage of all the Caribbean and all the plans being here for the Caribbean and for lot he took advantage of it aqu l too come's a legend man yeah that separates me from the petty oh yeah big up to O and Luke and O played in the same playground cuz o came down here and kods and all that [ __ ] so okay absolutely I remember getting to the airport we come down here to do the Luke sh a week worth of Y TV r with Luke we come to the airport and and it's a limo for Ed Lover a limo for Dr Dre a limo for T money a limo for T Demi we got four different limos I get in the limo and there's two naked girls in the back of limo I get out the limo pulling my pants up and she getting out the limo both of them say oh no Luke say we with you for the night God bless you Luke thank you very much God bless how to sell a [ __ ] record move something nine times in a row after that [ __ ] you was moving something oh me so horny I was moving something in that Li my wife going to kill me baby I'm keep real mob deep or mop mob okay I love mop too Billy and fame two of my favorite dudes to be around cuz they they just such great dudes and it's it's wonderful to see MP's growth right cuz like they grown men now yeah they super grown they got families it's great be be scared of them [ __ ] right like the [ __ ] were scary the M was scary [ __ ] son but but M cuz you know Havoc is so ill and rest in peace proy and lifetime in between the papers lines on the quiet storm [ __ ] fight rounds PA you heard of them yes yeah yeah yeah em a Mob D bro Salt and Pepper or JJ fad salt and pepper all day that's not even close yeah I know I love JJ fat too but y don't have the the the history the amount of hits and all that [ __ ] that salt and pepper had yes yeah Ted did the push it video push it wow yeah and get up I was at that video spenderella said push it push it get up yeah everybody get up I int my [ __ ] ask trench I in did you trch tell you I introduce him to Peppa did he tell us that [ __ ] I had a crush on Peppa I sent Peppa teddy bear flowers all kind of [ __ ] yeah she didn't like me I'm I'm good with that she like Tren so we that spring break and she was like what's up with Tren and I was like but what's up with me like [ __ ] TR she like trash and I was like yo TR pep want to holler at you and then Peppa turn around introduced me to my first wife and me and TR laugh all the time cuz none of this [ __ ] worked out so there it is but we do get we got beautiful kids out of we got beautiful kids that was I wasn't ready for that explanation Slick Rick or Andre 3000 God damn drinking I'm drinking cuz I got to take in longevity I'm drinking I'm drinking 3,000 but godamn 3,000 is one of the ell but Rick has been sampled probably as a rap artist more than anybody else like his voice he almost like James Brown a rap yeah absolutely and that great adventage of Slick Rick is such a [ __ ] the moment I feared he's still doing it crazy my favorite Slick Rick [ __ ] is uh uh the [ __ ] started yawning ah he grabbed his clothes he wanted to leave this place but first he wanted to see the vagina face to face he opened it up with his bare two thumbs he saw Crow with spe and indan nobody can do [ __ ] like that everybody that does double Rhymes everybody that even from Snoop to to give me the loot give me the loot by biggy that do two different people is because of slick R and he gave us Dana Dane the Kango crew so I'm going give slick his props always but 3,000 had a longer longevity wa wait tell about I thought Slick Rick and Dana D used to battle each other they in the same crew called the Kango crew but they but but but wait a minute they were in the same crew Dana Dan they were a crew called the Kango crew Vance wri Slick Rick Dana Dan oh said they have beef no no wow no them [ __ ] wore ball and and you know all them [ __ ] the Fly ball and the Fly green socks wow but you picked Andre I have to pick Andre oh he did for thought that D shot I'm so Dr we took a shot we took a shot he didn't drun don't find me I'm drunk no no I want to make sure we accurate so shot say both okay all right the O the symphony or headbanger Symphony okay you said that quick yeah I like that Symphony the headbanger pretty important too though very important but the symphony no no absolutely cuz there's no now if you said scenario oo but I'mma take I'mma take this I'mma take the symphony just cuz Kane said put a cord in your ass he played yourself that [ __ ] was crazy and it's one of the first POS could like that yeah right fat man scoop or bis Marquee rest in peace to both rest in peace of both them taking a shot I will never disrespect either one of them yeah Biz was a friend scoop was a friend scoop was a friend scoop I put scoop on the radio wow people don't know that wow via not directly saying higher scoop but scoop worked for Tommy Boy wow and he would come around with the big bottle of scope that's right all the time and he would try to listen to this record listen to this record and I say brother why do you have this why you got this I just call him big scope and he was like brother you got to be you got to be fresh you can't be Tau when you talking to these program directors brother right on brother go say that so we took and so yo go do a drop to say you listening ad Dre Lisa on the radio fat man scoop right on brother solid go and we started playing that and Steve Smith rest in peace was like who is that guy and I was like that's the guy from Tommy Boy right yeah wow you know and I I feel terrible because we had Communications for him to come on and it's like a lot of people and just never ends up happening Grandaddy I is my biggest thing like that I wanted to make happen you didn't you didn't get Grand that's my favorite rapper of all time I heard you say few I I love Grandaddy granddaddy that sh was hard right there yeah only build for Cuban links or Reasonable Doubt [ __ ] drinking yeah okay drinking I can't do that I can't do that and is that both the first first first solo album J was right we laying down on reasonable D no I ain't going to lie to you I always say this on this show I always say Reasonable Doubt went over my head because I think I was broke at that time like maybe that for me for me like not for you but for me cuz he was saying [ __ ] I wasn't broke but I still wasn't doing the [ __ ] I wasn't relating to certain [ __ ] it was and then years later I was like ah I get it now 22 what is it 222s what is that what he said he said what's the difference between you a 4.0 on a 4.6 you said 30 to 40 Grand sucker be there and I like damn I didn't know there was a difference like I think gay was in my lifetime was like what the [ __ ] like this yeah no Jay was Jay was ill man when Jay said we don't drive X FS we getting them the baby mothers I was like goddamn [ __ ] calm down Jay you killing [ __ ] out here in the streets Jay made [ __ ] take from their Range Rover take the 4.0 plaque off the back of the range R because the 4.6 cost about $40,000 more he made [ __ ] actually get a four if you had a 4.0 you took that [ __ ] off Jay's influence on pop culture is unmatched he he made you wear Throwbacks then he made you take off you made you wear the throwback and then you took the [ __ ] off I don't wear throwback 30 plus put on the first pair of jeans [ __ ] but up [ __ ] but it up we all but up [ __ ] JayZ son I'm like no [ __ ] JayZ love ho man H man that [ __ ] social impact is ridiculous yeah they stay the Dominican section [ __ ] hey hey hey we did he speaking to our La Mark yo we did we did Powerhouse we did Powerhouse one time right so the Bentley dealership I mean I mean the Mercedes dealership in Manhattan let me hold a mayback for the night so I come to the PowerHouse and I park my mayback downstairs next to Jay-Z's mayback uhuh so my [ __ ] right there right so after the show Jay go yo whose mayback is that right there I said yeah that that's me ho he said oh Eddie Ma I see what you're doing yo go to 4040 Club so me and this [ __ ] get in in May back to May back I got me and my man D my assistant we rolling Jay and Beyonce and other joint we rolling we going to 4040 Club traffic is crazy going through the Lincoln Tunnel Jay roll a window down he waving at people [ __ ] I roll the window down it's like [ __ ] me you couldn't move traffic but I had to tell a [ __ ] at the night we want you to know that's not my MB Al loner cuz the next time you see me I'm in the Hondo Court you know yeah [ __ ] I was in the back that night I'm front of that that [ __ ] Eddie ma nice I ain't going to lie to you [ __ ] I can't can't do that I can't do that you ain't going to see this [ __ ] tomorrow when you [Laughter] see as many of y'all know drink chance wants to give flowers while people are here to receive them giving flowers and celebrating our Legends while they can still smell them we have partnered with what the flower to create this movement where everyone can give biggie L's life was cut too short yeah amazing man he would have been [ __ ] amazing bro I ain't going to take nothing away from Big signed a rock big if you would have signed a rocket my God that whole what the Children of the Corn all them cam him mace Bloodshed God s and Big L them [ __ ] was lyrical right there bro yeah sh they still lyrical I watched it is what it is what it is both they and murder Ma I'm still I'm still waiting for you to go in one day too ain't going lie they inspired me you should go you can't do it on drink chanz I look like [ __ ] it do say it first they started ring first and I was saying y'all [ __ ] inspired me check this out though yeah them [ __ ] right there man yeah Big L ' 80s or '90s hiop 90s okay queens or Brooklyn Queens all day I knew that I was born in Brooklyn but it's going to be Queens all day who's the man or juice come on you guys are really yeah oh yeah yeah I thought he was going to say it juice why it had a it had a bigger impact than who's the man did who the man was dope but juice was better oh I I didn't I didn't think that do you think how people say that they think that you sh drinking the wrong [ __ ] y saw that you think that Pac playing Bishop really people think he took on the former Bishop he was already that way right that's when them young [ __ ] as 17 and that's what they think no that was already P he was already on that Pac was Pac he was always going to be Pac wow it was going to no different no juice was absolutely the Catalyst that blew him it just showed how talented he was absolutely right right fat boys or the Beasty Boys I'm drinking I'm drinking and on the only reason why I'm drinking is because Charlie used to manage The Fat Boys and they had an impact they had a huge impact I think they get enough credit they don't get enough credit people forget about them people forget heavy and I don't know why they do that about that heavy then biggie pun yeah okay well big have made it cool to be a big [ __ ] okay I thought Fat Boys was first well fat boys are more novelty later on and they they not to say like that cuz I love the Fat Boys but they weren fly they was fat boys they were fat Bo oh you can eat Bo was cool was I'm rough t with all that stuff I Make You Dance and PR to you huff and puff there just no way you can get enough of me your M stuff Big Stuff [ __ ] like I'm big [ __ ] yeah that [ __ ] is cool he was fly as [ __ ] big and T cells went through the roof absolutely Rochester Big and T big and but but what Fat Boys did I think also for hip-hop is also entered the the Hollywood space with dis they AB they did like and and they IM things they shattered that and then after that came uh kenen play [ __ ] and then right after that came who's the man they opened the door for us man so that's why I think they're underrated and they they deserve more props analog or digital analog thank you analog because digital is any and everybody analog you had to be good like where analog you had to love spend $300 on a 2in tape Y and you couldn't [ __ ] the [ __ ] up couldn't do it in your Bas Studio to start with right you couldn't do it in your basement you couldn't get in the studio studio 150 200 350 an hour you couldn't to [ __ ] it up yeah unless you was at um the in Queens or or maybe D and D early you couldn't afford no [ __ ] studio time right n analog definitely that's why the uh sale of vinyl is gone through the roof because analog is is just better it it was better because you went to the store to get the record right you went to the store I remember when uh get rich or die trying came out and Chris was my next door neighbor he didn't even have a copy for me and I was running around the record stores trying to find trying to find Kane's long Liv the cane trying to find that record so I can have the hard copy y'all had my man y had right remember Bo said about owning your music throwing around my record I said you breaking my music you breaking my that was his record was your I remember the the stuff you gave me on wax I still have it that [ __ ] mean something to me so like Bo said if I don't pay my phone bill I lose my music yeah I own it it's it's a different thing so I'm g go analog on yeah I love that I love that um Caris one or cool Gap I'm drinking okay yeah I'm drinking I'm drinking only because Gap is from Queens we drinking van and Chris is one of the illest [ __ ] I ever live oh man I can't choose that to the riches I feel like I'm cheating cuz as we go on the shots get smoother they do not get harsher they get smooth getting really Smo believe it or not that's an illusion no no not with papy not with py not with this py this py is delicious yes this delicious um Red Alert or Kika PRI drinking okay cheers to those we drinking cheers to them two legends yeah I'm drinking H we drinking Fel or yay drinking damn now I feel like he just want to drink drinking drinking ain't telling us no stories any stories Oh yay yay me and my man Tom big up to my man Tom one of my best friends one of the first ones to ever do parties at Mars 2112 y we did a Latrell free well welcome to New York par can I stop you for one second yeah let me just describe what he just described to you now Mars 2112 is at what year can you tell us what year cuz I wanted to tell you and where's this place this is in New York City this nework I believe it's Square Midtown right I could not get in this club for at all so this the reason why wanted to I want to know what years this is is a welcome to New York the TR fre well just signed to the New York nck can you can you figure about so Paul on the sports two more it the T World signing to the New York next what is it what is this and outside the club was a young man by the name of Kanye West that couldn't get in the party and he introduced himself to me he said my name is Kanye West I'm a producer I produce for Rockefeller I'm over here and um what do I need to pay to get in body and I said no man you just come on in you you down with with HOV it right yeah come on in yeah and and for real he was you know he was you know forel is the [ __ ] that wrote all I want to do is zum That's a classic classic right therez you know Teddy do the the talent show and he gave the [ __ ] a deal and them [ __ ] was producing Teddy was taking the credit you know the even though the beef between tribe and them but yeah that was crazy that was crazy yeah but I can't I can't choose between them okay Clips or dog pal Clips okay pushy T is one of my favorite MC's bro okay and with him and Malice together my [ __ ] the [ __ ] them [ __ ] was saying the [ __ ] they were saying was real like drug dealers like real drug dealers knew that they was tell them the truth right they wasn't like making up [ __ ] like you was telling no you could tell weight like he was like it was like a blueprint to I could do this to two little black [ __ ] from Virginia mov weight like that like n they was real and really quick dog pound new album is dope and I'm looking forward to the new clips Yes album that they yeah I heard about the clips album I'm very excited about that yeah I like when [ __ ] don't stop making records right they should that's Sonic got a new album out I love the [ __ ] I just like when [ __ ] just don't stop like you don't outgrow hip hop and and art in general like the other art forms stop they don't stop doy part still got records coming out [ __ ] we got to stop one one one is going to church and one is still drug dealing but they both wear little you know what that's balance that's balance mice is back mice is performing again with his brother man he ain't drinking he gonna sit I feel like he's going to be on that rock himim [ __ ] like it's going to be hardcore he praising the Lord I respect that he ain't going to say no crazy [ __ ] but he out in the clubs again I respect that too who mice is yeah well son God bless you m [ __ ] with you at least in the Louis vetar clubs I seen him in there brand Newan or tribe cqu tribe and it's nothing against my I I I got a personal relationship with Lord Jamal that's my man my wife and his wife are really good friends that's my man but tribe bro right low and Theory Midnight Marauders tribe bro tribe tribe was the lay man's daylight Soul tribe was more relatable you can because they like so they rhyme patterns were so [ __ ] incredible but a lot of times you like what is these [ __ ] talking about and daylight came technically first right yeah I just I look at qtip and he say black Black Mirror Mirror yeah but besides that a lot of this [ __ ] you be like what is they talking about in my La one of my favorite records and I kind of still don't know what they talking about fam you know what it is that we're all just getting de la now like de deserves all the props unfortunately that we lost but but we just it's like they deserve everything they they was what everybody be talking about relationship goals right locks day that's relationship goes they could do whatever they and none of them [ __ ] ever made a solo record right p and Dove never went solo they did all together they could have easy you know the way the locks respect each other to do their solo [ __ ] but they still the locks no matter oh okay they respect their group more than they respect that [ __ ] Yeah well yeah but J them [ __ ] get Jada and styles getting that SoDo money and Chic absolutely they getting that solo money [ __ ] J is getting ready to come to Cobb County Georgia cob energy Center coming up I think in December with a symphony orchestra I'm there'll be there too shout out to J now that's Jada by itself or the whole tour of course the locks will be there the lock it's it's Bill as Jus like Jus I was in Panama with J kiss man doing some [ __ ] with with him for somebody did thing not Panama Florida Panama Panama and I got to hung out hang out with Jada and my [ __ ] the [ __ ] that he some of the [ __ ] he was telling me like yo I got tired of giving a f my [ __ ] [ __ ] like a lot of [ __ ] didn't know until the the beef until the daylight until the uh the r riday set [ __ ] people didn't know that that [ __ ] wrot for what you want to do only you know you're a DJ a lot of the regular [ __ ] Ain't know that he wrote that [ __ ] they know that that's real well they they got out of Dodge the rock or Ru Riders Rock okay rock Jay-Z is to is too poor X is too cuz X was like what the only [ __ ] that had two two number one album in the same year but he put out albums in one year or the last question quick time slime then get back to the interview loyalty or respect respect okay why um because loyalty wains depending on what you giving if you keep giving [ __ ] is going to be loyal to you but respect lasts a whole lot longer right like me I have been respected for such a long time that I would rather have respect and fake loyalty loyalty sometimes comes at the cost respect pretty much doesn't come at a cost so I would rather be respected okay let's make some noise for that now is it true you and Miss Jones had a beef at one point yeah because she was with Starbuck Wilding them in the morning talking Reckless about me and I'm want to put on the radio but it's all water under the bridge but what what tell tell us what happened like I mean especially if it's water under the bridge and it's all done so what happened um you put Miss Jones Jones came cuz she had that where I want to be join out she came yeah and I liked her and I thought she was dope and I told Steve about her cuz she was up there a lot and Steve Smith Steve Smith and then she got with them and there was some words said you know about us when we was at Power and they was think they were still at Hot 97 and you know took they took on a be for Hot 97 they was for Hot 97 me and Dre had came back from LA and we was on power right there some foul [ __ ] said and I was like remember I got on the phone I was like Jonesy we don't own these stations what we what the [ __ ] are we talking about right now but but you know what's crazy I remember at one point I could go to South Carolina and they could hit me in North Carolina imation like yeah they had no beef immediately when New York opened up another station beef from the it was like it was like Bloods and crits like like I mean let me not say that because be for Flex yeah you have be Flex because you the power cuz I was at Power okay so describe us this situation because outside US looking in you guys to us and [ __ ] I had beef with murder ink [ __ ] what the [ __ ] yeah how I had be for Murder Inc no I had beef for Murder Inc because one of the dudes that they had signed to the label had got shot and killed in Old conell Park a young dude I can't remember his name so right and I said something and I said it's no disrespect to death row or Murder Inc but there's a certain Aura that's going to happen when you name your company something like that I said that's why Death Jam was DF jam and I said no disrespect they went on St Buck Wild trashing me whing on me head off M ruling ruling [ __ ] Earth well and um I called my sister my sister was the uh receptionist at Death Jam oh wow wow son your knuckles my sister and I told my sister I said tell her I'm I'm I'm coming up there to see him right she said don't come up here PR up here all the time P's with them and I said okay now it makes sense right right why y'all [ __ ] talking super hard now okay and but it's all up water under the bridge because Ron gutter who is Ja ru's best friend is my niece's father see how this sh work out and my sister got a k got a kid together so and I just did the Lisa Lisa cold Jam movie and Ron gut is a producer on it so it's all water under the bridge man words get exchanged where it really don't mean nothing but but but still I I I know I know it's water under the bridge but I want people to understand how crucial it was for New York radio because I could give my part of it right I had a record called gramy gramy was number one it was a shootout in front of high 97 I got banned in front of everything I wasn't there he waser even there right they just did that on on TV1 you know that right no I didn't know yeah they just did the whole Little Kim [ __ ] about that they said you wasn't there there yeah they said I wasn't there finally said you were there this time they actually like you good like I'm 12 films did it and I was kind of pissed cuz I was like why y'all ain't talk to a few more [ __ ] that were actually around at that time but he was there but what I'm saying is um so that [ __ ] happened I got banned from every radio station even radio stations that did didn't like EMS broadcast at the time well that's what it was right em it wasn't Clear Channel right it em um still took their side and Russell Simmons who you biged up earlier Russell Simmons personally came went to what's up her name Tracy Clarity or tracyy Clarity Tracy Clarity yeah Tracy Clarity and said you can't spank somebody for a person that that wasn't there like you know you can't you can't right they can't fault you you can't fault me I I became back number one cuz grimy was number one in the whole country but when Hot 97 pulled my record and Miss broadcast it it it said a thing but then Power 105 came like a couple of weeks later remember Mike K Mike Mike Kaiser saying to me it's my boy Mike Kaiser two shout out Mike Kaiser yeah there's two episodes in a row I'm talking about but everyone was saying we flipped the switch I was the only artist that technically wasn't allow to say I flipped the switch cuz they you just got back7 I had just so if you listen to all the early drops I have all the early drops of all Power 105 every single person that de Jam you know de Jam was was enforcing this label was like yo we're not only going to have you know hot we're going to have this and by the way I'm going be honest when Power 105 first came out people didn't think it was going to work right you got to put in underground it was the it was the anti HOT97 it was the anti HOT97 it's like Flex got into a beef right yeah because I because I was on Power and flex was on and flex was on hot he had gotten into some [ __ ] with Y was y'all was okay okay Steph lover okay but y'all was friends before you and yeah absolutely we friends now right so so what was the Steph lover [ __ ] he had him and Steph got into something Steph was with us at Power and they got into something about her being around there or something Flex had words something and I was just on the radio like yo man you can't get on a girl like that then he went on his show that 7:00 whing on me and then I I just came back like dog like let's meet at 42nd Street down Square just me and you are like I'm will [ __ ] punch in your face like I don't give a [ __ ] and then we got on the phone and was like yo we don't own these stes like we fighting over some [ __ ] that we don't own like this [ __ ] is stupid it's [ __ ] it flexx has championed the [ __ ] out of me ever since I've been back on 947 he is champion7 that is under EMS correct no that's a whole different that's Odyssey oh that's it's a whole different company but Flex it it it happens like that sometime man uh who's who's on Odyssey right now um on that station cyer s is on there Cypher is there Miss Jones is on there Jones is in the morning okay who uh scratch Shelly way me DJ Big Ben and we just lost Miss cess fat man scoop had just start oh wow yeah we lost scho I never understood why these radio stations would beef like it was some sh it was territorial it was never going to amount to anything but some of the talk was crazy talk was ridiculous I [ __ ] threaten me and I threaten [ __ ] right back likeing each other they doing crazy [ __ ] to each other we wasn't going to get that I don't play with my family and it was clearly at one point like if you give your record to Power 105 stay there like at one point I get that part and then and it was like if you give your record to flex clue ain't taking your [ __ ] at one point like and it was just like damn like you really had to draw a line it was really like some gang [ __ ] yeah you really had to go one the other one corate gang [ __ ] yeah you know one of the first times I interviewed Nori as a solo artist he came to the station and the first thing I ask him is do the Neptunes really got a [ __ ] span you you know I do cuz I thought it was a ill line you know run rels around the English Channel that to got a [ __ ] span I like do the [ __ ] had a [ __ ] span the studio likein got why the [ __ ] you say some [ __ ] like that because back then we were relating guns to dogs so we were saying Rock Wallers and so if you listen to lyrics I said Neptunes I got a cocka span you meaning like I got the little de Deuce but uh yo this do you realize that you were kind of like an influential your rhyme pattern kind of influence ghost face a not ghost face oh get the [ __ ] out here ghost because he'll say any [ __ ] thing right Let's Take a Shot For That Let's Take a Shot For That Nori was one of the first [ __ ] that would say [ __ ] that don't make no sense at all so how did you equate that my GH G say Off the Wall [ __ ] banana colored velvet ropes to be like what the [ __ ] is that like what are you talking Nori was that [ __ ] cheesecake double P right Nori was that [ __ ] the [ __ ] span you [ __ ] all kind I rock a Umberto what the [ __ ] is a Umberto like a Mexican he would say Spanish words it weren't even Spanish it didn't even make sense I was like that's what I'm saying he's my no brother yeah he was trying yeah nobody would correct me in the studio I I would always listen to it like what the [ __ ] is Nori talking about but I got it so then when I heard ghost I was like that's a lot of nori right there yeah nor say ridiculous [ __ ] on record son but it was fly man [ __ ] is fly one of my favorite ghost record is the H the [ __ ] rhyme with the [ __ ] still singing on the record the [ __ ] like many lines have come to you and this nigga's raming I'm like yo he's not even waiting for he didn't give a [ __ ] all he did was all he did was come back in all I know is I was like yo this [ __ ] is L that's that's Hip Hop for your ass I put it together [ __ ] I put it together I put that together that's nor right there so roll call did you get y'all got that from the baker Bo yes we did and I asked permission yo shout out to the Baker Boys out to the baker Steve Smith wanted to Jack the [ __ ] straight out he just told y to said this is what the Baker Boys is doing listen to this y'all heard them doing that they was doing the road call so Steve gave it to us right tape listen to this right this a work in New York right I said I'm not a biter [ __ ] it was against the law right right especially back then right I said let me call them get them on the phone that's honorable man let me ask and they was like yeah y'all go ahead and do it if you want to I was like okay let me put a little spin on it and and the [ __ ] took off like crazy shut up still got people that walk up to me like y I was on the road call I was like 15 like that [ __ ] was crazy shout out to Nick V and Eric drama to DJ Drama knew that he had beef with Gucci and at the party drama dropped some Gucci [ __ ] and jez went [ __ ] ballistic so they was beefing and I was like but [ __ ] the [ __ ] Gucci was hot much we just say son we still understand yeah we are never going to understand just we understand I don't know we understand it but it was come on son was what I wanted to say so I shot a video for it and I didn't have I couldn't Chiron Kyon is the way MTV used to put our names on the bottom of the screen called Chiron and I had that little white mat the first one I I didn't know how to do that [ __ ] I don't think there was a way to do it so I held up a piece of cardboard I had just moved to my house I ripped a piece of cardboard off and rolled in magic marker just like that hey let me get that [ __ ] come on we pay Harry with them and and I was talking [ __ ] and I was like right and [ __ ] out of here 50 50 had thisis50.com uhuh so my [ __ ] uh was over there and I sent the [ __ ] to what he talking about and and my [ __ ] said Come On Son you know my [ __ ] my [ __ ] said they watched it right that's all that matters is they watched it do another one and that was the beginning of [ __ ] come on son and that was Come On Son the podcast all right so let me I'mma point out to certain people in the room and you tell me if I'm telling the truth or not and by the way you telling me maternity leave [ __ ] out of here oh [ __ ] oh [ __ ] I don't think I've ever been this stuck on drink Camp before okay hold up sorry let's rewind the last I think it it had been the last episode this a good [ __ ] weed too I knew it was going to be good yes yes fantastic the last episode of yourt RS when you had everybody there oh yeah last I know you probably talked about this a million times but can you just describe what that meant to you guys what how it came together actually efn for me it was after it was years after cuz you don't you don't know this [ __ ] when you in it in the moment in the moment right you don't realize that this [ __ ] is like the most epic [ __ ] it was sad for me because I knew it was the last episode and I didn't want it to be right I wanted to do at least 10 years of your own TV raps right and they like it's the last episode Charlie our manager knew he's like they going into that's the reason why I took the HOT 97 job because he had already forecasted that they was about to get rid of your own TV raps cuz they was playing more hip-hop and mainstream in the m in the mainstream regular time right so he was like well if they going to start doing that what's going to be special about you tv rap so he was like take this radio job and you know he told me what how stern was making I was like [ __ ] I can make almost close to that let's make something happen so it was bittersweet for me but at the time I didn't realize that many people were in the room I once heard search tell a story about his beef with hammer and Hammer was there apparently ran up on ham or some [ __ ] I was like if it did happen I don't know I wait did he did sech talk about that here I I don't I don't remember him talking about it okay but everybody was there like everybody that was on the East Coast at that time was there so it was it was kind of like a bit of sweet moment for me but looking back on it I didn't realize how epic it was going to be and it was really was an organic like uh will call of people like it was like yo we doing the last show you on TV raps anybody want to come come and it was just like our idea that like you know Fab said we got all these MCs in here let's do a cipher yeah the CER and and the cipher was just insane and if you look at it that's what tried to duplicate on the last episode which was dope over there as well and that was dope too yeah yeah but I always saw Rap City got that like they freestyle segment or for the last episode of ym tv rap I would think so but I don't I love ticket ticket great friend of mine but I always say that the difference was rap city was a national show we were an international show right we were all over the world you know like Lee saying as he tells everybody that come in here he learned to speak English from them a lot of people tell me actually that yo I watch y TV raps at 4:00 a.m. in Nigeria that's how I learn to speak was it because of the actual syndication was actually in those those countes MTV was all over the world yeah MV wasn't all over the world before the merger before DC back then we were all over I remember J and I going to Japan and we get off the plane and there 15,000 Japanese out there waiting for us that don't speak a speca English but they watch us like every [ __ ] day how much [ __ ] you got in Japan my share Mount you didn't F you heard what Luke said here this [ __ ] was wild yo yo they they don't speak English they want to [ __ ] it's just like like I don't know how you [ __ ] somebody that can't speak English like like how do you do that what do you say I don't even know what to say like she just got naked got in the bed I guess I guess we [ __ ] you said I guess you know and there was no do it now now no no Chad GPT got you bro yeah you [ __ ] up now do some [ __ ] like that what did Willie Nelson say he said you know how much Conor cost back then he said who said he didn't know you know that's the only [ __ ] Snoop say can outm smoke him yep Willie Nelson yeah he said Willie Nelson is the only [ __ ] that can outm smoke him he said they had the bong they had gas mask and all kind yeah I think he breathes weed I don't think what the [ __ ] he said I'm passing [ __ ] he passing me shitty like can't out smoke that [ __ ] I can't smoke with Snoop either Snoop is a ridiculous smok oh he's Snoop one time outsmoked though yeah when actually in New York yeah it's documented yeah he he he stopped all right buddy them [ __ ] don't know how to stop smoking this is the only weed I'm going to smoke all day right nor don't have no Li he don't got no chill button no no he don't no I ain't going to lie I don't have no chill button when I'm in in front of person like you my dude I've been remorse I've been so happy to give you your flowers to make sure that you understand how ill you are to this community our show is about you know when people get 10 years or 20 years in this game people want to write them off and tell them they old and old school that's not what this show is about this show is about giving you your flowers while you alive thank you brother I appreciate you you like I I said it I said it earlier you made doing black media cool yeah there's people that was doing black media maybe before you and Dre um and there was people doing black media maybe in a different way but no one did it in the style of the hood you know understand I'm saying like even when I look at you know Cameron show right now and I love that show I love that show but they're doing it and in that style meaning like they're being they're being the barber shop with suit on the suits on right they're being themselves and that's what you was the first people that was being theirselves looking like us even when you wore karate outfits and you know what I'm saying and no shirts but you was being like us looking like us see jab me real quick you saw that [ __ ] me no but that humor is real stab me real quick stab me you had no shirt on in carile I was wearing camouflage you wearing the CR suit no but for real like you know we were so happy to come home even when I did the the print ad for lugs you still uping me then wait wait what the no the print ad for lugs oh I forgot nasty you you we took the check we took the check you were Flex I never bought into Lu bro never bought into Lux I took the check I took the check as you should have I'll take the che shut up they paying in let [ __ ] up take it did you ever wear lugs in public without the camera abely [ __ ] was nasty too quickly went back to Tim like they made your feet hurt immedi immediately like cuz what was L supposed to be Tim's competition yeah they were trying to get into that market yeah they was trying to get in that market yeah that market was huge and Tims didn't even understand that Market at the time cuz they didn't originally come in for hip-hop no we just we make everything hip-hop and Tim oh [ __ ] look they they send us the lug ad immediately look at that yeah I told you that's nasty [ __ ] that's don't show that to nobody don't show that to disgusting I look stupid right there son holy [ __ ] but it's good to admit that you did some dumb [ __ ] for the check though yes and oh oh oh so now we just found out that Mars opened in February 1999 1999 that's when probably right around the time after that that my man signed to the Knicks lch free the free before he we had the party before he choke PJ kismo that one on the next that one on the next different different Squad and that's when I met [ __ ] uh Kanye West for the first time that's dope though J I need another drink I got I got one more left than me I have not touched this Basil Hayden and that's a damn problem you going to drink that too you drink that too you take that we still we still got uh with you yeah we still got Pap I'm drinking Pap oh yeah yeah yeah we we got to bring back the old school set you got to relax I didn't know I didn't know I thought we drank it all no yes yes no no no we going to let you this being that you ordered this I wanted to impress you as my friend well thank you my brother I wanted to let you know how much you mean to me and that's what I said I I love making sure our people take people drink orders and when you said American whiskey I was like yo we I got to bring out this papy and I bring out the 12 year that py is special bro it's special I don't know about everybody all all all all my fan back home that's going to watch this is going to watch going to watch me drink this papy just didn't have the torch because [ __ ] take your torch the airport and I didn't check no bags so they wasn't going to let me bring my torch on so your man was kind enough to go get me a torch cuz if IID have lit this [ __ ] with a big lighter like you got right there them [ __ ] would have tore me oh my God my stoies on the Rocks crew they would have killed me I would have been banned I would have been on punishment so sto's on the Rocks crew a social club in New York Community of of I have my community like Fellowship a SI those are Place Cigar City Club I smoke there I I I I smoke at life and times I smoke patio two patios in Atlanta ATA yeah I smoke all over the place and and they know it's against the rules to light a cigar with a big lighter it's against the rules it's not a gas lighter that's right cuz it's not fast enough to light it it's not a gas light look look we learned something to [ __ ] it's good for this not good for this you can get with this or you get with that you get with this get with that right now has Atlanta been good to you has been wonderful to me CU I heard you got offered a sports job I got offered a sports job on 929 the game but then they decided that they didn't want to hire outside of what they already had okay and that's part of arsty too but Sports is something that I'm really into that I really love I've been a sports ftic I'm a New York Giant fan unfortunately yeah um but I'm a sports guy I like sports and I think at the time what they needed was somebody that can give you Sports in the layman's term like I talk directly to people that watch sports the way I watch sports that talk about politics the way I do that talk to people the way you talking to me right the way you guys embrace me and talk to me that's how I talk to people I don't give them the will the right God pull this way half the people technicalities right I don't do the technicality that's for dudes that play the game and I and I respect the [ __ ] out of them too but I just like sports but being that um you said Jamie Fox brought Oprah to your show yeah Jamie Fox is now viral for hanging out oh what this [ __ ] with Jerry Jones talking about [ __ ] dicks pause on that son what the [ __ ] was that did we have to bring this to drink Champs no it was like a slave thing to me like I thought slavery no is it real Is that real it's real Jamie turned that [ __ ] off right when he said he's This Tall this amount of weight his hands are this big and he got a 8 and 1 12 inch 9 in [ __ ] I was like how the [ __ ] do you know that yo this first thing I say yo yo I want to be like the owner of the C come on son how you know that son give me that son get the [ __ ] hey Jerry Jones Come On Son [ __ ] out there with that yeah crazy [ __ ] you can't buy baby oil no more [ __ ] I can't I can't buy no baby oil [ __ ] this is what I want to say about that real quick because Diddy is my [ __ ] right I want to tell everybody that there's a difference between Diddy parties and Diddy freak off parties right I've been to a thousand Diddy parties that did not turn into freak off parties maybe I wasn't famous enough to be invited to them shits I don't know but those parties were not the parties that I went to and amen godamn right that's all I want to say about that I don't know I I don't know heyen I ain't never been in the the freako parties neither but I've been my wife so maybe but but I didn't see it I didn't see it personally and when the feds get you as you know we saw with Murder Inc they want to milk your bank account till you ain't got [ __ ] left the feds don't lose [ __ ] they come yeah they only [ __ ] I ever know that beat the Fed was [ __ ] Irving him they come when they come they don't barely huh and barely and barely they don't come until they got some real [ __ ] on you right so they putting puff in the trick bag right now because of the way they Define sexual trafficking when I was a teenager we went to the whole stroll we went to Hunts Point we was talking toit Street in Queens yeah yeah in the Bristol Hotel that [ __ ] L around about the hoes used to be there Park Avenue South before they cleaned that up in New York loose right now he's like Luke no but but I gotta talk but let's be fair Hugh Hefner had freak offs oh absolutely like this he had a Grotle that was made for sex like absolutely like I mean I didn't [ __ ] when I went to the Grotle but you went to the gr though I've been to the gr let's th hear about it yeah I've been there but I I ain't nothing happening ain't nothing happenz Hugh was old as [ __ ] I don't even know think the niggaer knew who I was I was there I was just in there the gr chilling like oh this the gr but it's different now you had to smoke some weed do something it's different because of the way they view where the laws are right now right because we all seen the movie Taken we love the movie Taken with Le n right they snatching women off the streets it's the movement of people it's the movement of people that's the difference here that's the difference it's the movement of it's the movement we're not defining it that's no it's true it's the movement of it's the movement of the people once you move them across straight state lines and paying them for sex they call that trafficking yeah yeah and with all due respect we are not qualified to talk about this on drink chance and and we shouldn't no cuz I ain't sex traffic nobody we're celebrating his legacy we not [Applause] taring hey hey hey hey efn nor you want to know the craziest [ __ ] my mother's 86 years old so the [ __ ] came out my mother called me baby I said hey M are you on the freak freak tapes I'm like and what you say that freak Show and let me tell you why she say that she said cuz my standing the church is real good right now and I don't want you I don't want you to mess up my [ __ ] [ __ ] though yeah I said my it's called the freak gos and no I'm not on none of them T but but that that's that's a beautiful thing that you you um CU I remember you saying um when you was in LA after big died that was one of the people who called you and said out of was your mom was my mother and say no matter how you have to get out of there get out of there right because the vitory all on big was disgusting on the radio what it was disgusting I heard La yeah yes when he died yes they were going crazy dissing him uh post who's a radio personality I love wow she was on the radio and she openly took calls and the disrespect people call she she didn't disrespect B she didn't disrespect big yeah she was sad and say we lost one of the greatest and the vitory all that came and the disgusting words that they said about big make me feel like I need to get out of here right now she had cuz she had edited that part or at that time no that was live radio live radio it was live radio so so when they took calls you you couldn't edit that at that time okay she if she would have recorded them she could okay but I don't think she let it go and it was just like his fat ass ain't had no business here they know we didn't like him after Pac died good good for him F his family like it was it was crazy bro and they's playing that on live radio yeah it was crazy and I heard you also say contrary to popular belief and Pac died New York was showing him nothing but love crazy love you know Nas our homeboy allowed me to step on his stage on his stage that's right at n Coliseum and announced to everybody that that pocket passed away and he had beef with pop right and he and he allowed me to do it I told him cuz I heard Angie say it I was on my way to the concert and Andie said P just Di and uh I AC the Nas I remember he had on the red leather another niggaer had no shirt on at the time but that's not yeah I go him too don't worry about it so the [ __ ] had on the farmer's joint leather joint red joint I said yo Pac died man I think you need to tell everybody he said I can't do that here give me the mic so go tell everybody Pac passed and we did a moment of silence for Pac but in La [ __ ] when big died they didn't give a [ __ ] C can I play devil's advocate for a second yeah and I know it's not the same thing but couldn't it be said that the same thing happened in New York when the dog pound and Snoop were filming the the video and people but you're correct you correct people were shooting yeah but no one they said hey why would you allow said why you allow these [ __ ] to come in here couldn't that be the similar it's very similar but nobody died we lost two of the greatest di I'm saying nobody died by happened fact first off the shooting shootings didn't occur until Atlanta that shooting that happened youan um with and puff no no people got shot people were shooting in New York but that that shooting that happen Su man got killed manah got killed allegedly by wolf I can't say I was there so I don't know but allegedly by wolf was what sparked the whole [ __ ] yeah it was never East Coast West Coast bad boy I think everybody in Hip Hop knew it was no there's a lot of dumb [ __ ] out here that don't know everybody that really was in the culture knew it was never East Coast West Coast it was this gr Cube came New York and did America was most wanted so how the [ __ ] was we hating on yeah the bomb squad produces album right the most New York [ __ ] ever made the most epic public enema West Coast album ever y That's my dad called him too public I don't know what [ __ ] they talking about yeah yeah but we we didn't we we never disliked we embraced and loved West Coast Music even if sometimes we were so full of ourselves that we couldn't understand what was coming from the south and and the west and the west and and Southeast right right right but we embraced it when we got it sometime it take people a longer time to get it do you think we talk about it here often and you know I hear a story that you said that one time that not one time but this time particular this a wonderful week thank you very much yeah that um when I believe big died I believe on a Saturday and you couldn't leave till a Monday yeah so you had get out of town you got so when you finally got in your car service I said you laid down BR you laid down that's how shook I was I ain't going to lie ain't no such things as halfway Crooks this ngga was a shook [ __ ] right I'm on the west Co thatout the West CO said that yeah I'm I'm on the west coast and when my car finally came and got me that morning to take me to the airport you had a hood hood on hood on on P tight you know robbery Hood like I'm sticker [ __ ] and I laid down on the back seat till we got to the airport until I got in the terminal actually to my gate is when I took the hood off wow because I was that scared because we didn't know where it came from and you didn't know if it was for everybody right like they could just like we killing every east coast [ __ ] out here I'm out here I got to get home my mom's like they're willing to kill the I want to cosign that because I wasn't there at all I wasn't there the source of were were I wasn't there I I didn't I well I didn't come out till till 9798 I believe big died 95 97 97 right so um I wasn't lit so I I definitely had no budget to go out there you know what I'm saying like that's very simple real [ __ ] Real [ __ ] [ __ ] and um but I remember like actually having a budget afterwards and I remember me not having a choice when I land in La they had security for me and I was you know I was like you know like a hood [ __ ] at that time like I don't need security and they had like almost insurance policies on almost every artist after big and po I don't want to ever say that's a conspiracy theory I want to say that's our culture who led that to that but what what if it what if what if what if I'm naive and what if that was do you think that ever was conspiracy theories for I think it's an unfortunate cons not conspiracy coincidence coincidence I think that it became so big that it got out of their hands that's deep that's what I think I think once Pac died I think it was on even even though people that big didn't have nothing to do with it yeah I don't think they G it they beef was so big was so big yeah yes you know hit him up and all all that [ __ ] and record sales were through the roof and who shot you added to it which wasn't really at parac no it was done before park it wasn't about par it shouldn't have been put out and who who they said P push I'll put that [ __ ] out it should have been crazy really know yeah we we had a debate with I think Tonyo he debated I said no cuz I as a shout out to Yo the most loyal [ __ ] I ever seen in my life the most loyal I had that record who shot you before that that like before they really released it really I'm saying it was before anybody passed thank you yeah efn played that [ __ ] didn't he yeah but I'm saying before it didn't relate to that when I played it I'm saying when when you first had it you didn't relate it to to the to the because the Parx [ __ ] didn't happen it was like we DJ we get white labels we'll get like press you know like test pressings and I was on Pirate Radio and I'm playing it yeah but but when it went went like on radio commercial radio and everybody was relating it to the shootings I'm like nah bro like that's not what it was right but it looked like that to the general public the general public and I think that was a a huge mistake yeah you could have held that back and then godamn I still don't like to hear hit him up it still bothers me yeah it does I know what it was and I know why he did it but it still it still [ __ ] with me bro and it's crazy how big of it's such a it's a ill record it's a ill record though but it's a ill if you wanted to just in out of context like I mean as a as a hip-hop historian look at a battle record it's one of the greatest ones it's up there where no Vaseline no Vaseline there they not like us the bridge is over bridge is over hey man it's up there it's up there man you left right you no I I bridges over is a dis the queen yeah you know what I realized about the bridges over I looked at carest one's age there's no way he would have knew the [ __ ] he was talking about he was 14 wait what wait when he did the bridges over no think about what the times he's talking about oh he's talking about time when the Hip Hop was actually doesn't look as wild as it seems I didn't hear a peep from a place called Queens you was 14 you wouldn't have heard it are you saying we still got a case yes all right cool this is like murder this is like murder we can bring this back up bring charges back up we bringing charges back up C we not we not taking that we ain't taking that sh from you Chris MC Shan is the judge we got it yo MC Shan makes a lot of sense makes a lot ofense now than ever before yeah he does I [ __ ] love Shan Shan is one of our superar he's a super legend but when when he was was [ __ ] trying to [ __ ] with LL at that time too and k w that up but yeah you need to take your man you instead of [ __ ] with LL you need to take your man off the crack I was like God damn who smoking crack back then yeah but Shan's been honest about it yeah he been did he tell you was smoking crack I mean I I don't know about that part but he's honest about his addictions like I love Shan man M let's big up to MC Shan but hold up hold hold on real quick because I want to go back to something youve talked about on drink Champs in relationship to Biggie and everything that happened when you and and and MOB deep did the record L laa that what biggie told you yeah I I went straight up to the tunnel we did it because I mean obviously we we weren't on so that was like the way to get on like to to like you know this is after the New York New York right this is right after the New York New York the only rebuttal we um um it was a friend of of my hood his name is Chaz and he BR me up he was on the DJ list that was called and long story short we went in there we just did a response we never really like dissed him back uh only person that like related to La was with Prodigy said JFK on our way to La that was the only part the whole record that kind of seemed like it but I stepped to big uh I don't remember if it was that night or or whatever night but I Ste at big was like yo we we went back at them for you you know what I mean la la he was cuz remember it was bad boy mixtape remember had was well clue had one first ironically being from Queens he didn't he D too yeah sh D is leg he didn't he didn't he didn't he didn't put us on on the record um so Stretch Armstrong did Big up to Stretch Armstrong and big up to Barbo but although this is a Stretch Armstrong move by itself and um I remember stepping in the big and big like nah he was so smart he was like nah I we can't use that on the bad boy mixtape we won't use la la you you responding to them because what he's accusing me of is I didn't do and I I I had at that time I was so naive and young I was like what's wrong with him what the [ __ ] is you talking about like was the [ __ ] like I'm representing for you and years later come to find out like like what he said to me at that very moment was real like I had got nothing to do with he he's accusing me of right how does that make was big that was Big's path on the whole [ __ ] on the whole [ __ ] it's like what what he's saying I'm I I love this dude like this my guy yeah he always took the higher Road on that like I have heard stories that big went back into the studio and took pac's gun out of the piano yeah I heard that I heard that leg I don't know if it's true but he put it in his pants and walked out I don't know if it was him but but he sent somebody or him I don't know so pop would have catch charge would catch a gun sh right big so I'm like why would you do that if you had something to do with it and I think I know for a fact big was very hurt by yeah he has expressed in the interviews like I'm [ __ ] hurt like I love this dude like it just got out of hand man and sometimes [ __ ] beef like that happens it just gets out of hand [ __ ] gassing you up right you gassing yourself up it's nasty nobody wants to back down nobody wants to back down and they were both Gemini and God bless God bless the vibe magazine my mama and my sister yes sir I'm I get them both yeah you get it yeah God bless the vibe magazine but the vibe magazine they put the fuel on N I don't that that [ __ ] everything so no that [ __ ] everything up it [ __ ] everything everything up man everything the media exacerbated that situation yeah absolutely they exacerbated it to the point of no return yeah and the point of no return was that we lost two of the greatest artists that we have ever had yeah and and and I know it sounds like so like very like crazy but we can't really blame anybody who covered that in that way at that time because we didn't understand that that was the end result yeah how can we not blame them because there was no other example of that like you know like like if right now like [ __ ] Kareem and Dre play Skelly and then one of them have to jump in the pool afterwards that's the first example of that you know I'm using that cuz that's very I don't get it but go skell go if it goes viral yeah yeah which was what which was doing back then they made it go viral that was viral this is my thing though I think all of us looked at the vibe and we were all young people at the time and we looked at the article and we all were like no that's a little bit that's they're reaching they're reaching they did reach they're reaching I think all of us as young people in hipop honestly it was disre before but the vibe was really leading that really but no but no disc records led to death at that time that's the reason why like I do blame them but I I don't I don't blame them because there was no example of that now any publication that made coverage of that and and led to that like right now when I'm looking at you know all these cases cuz this [ __ ] mad cases in hip-hop like you can look there's cases in hip-hop and in Atlanta somebody getting [ __ ] locked up we got to start asking ourselves real questions how much has hip hop made excuses for [ __ ] for [ __ ] that's going to get us all [ __ ] up how much has hip hop helped or hurt the black community it's helped a lot we help we helped more but the emphasis is on how we hurt right but we helped way more DMX said something he said he don't diss whack rappers no more cuz one rap one rapper period saved 16 families and I believe that one rapper whether you whack or not y y'all had the [ __ ] Young MC on here he gave the best description of DMX I ever heard him all Young MC was ill bro he was the best and he from Queens too you know that right he from Queens but he don't claim us at all he don't claim us no no no he claimed La no he no he claimed Queens bro relax man all tell me that we asked him quick time slime no he only no no what he said is he because he made his chops in La he did that's what he that's why he claims La the way he does but he's a queen's [ __ ] he's a que he said it he said it [ __ ] yo take Come On Son you guys falling back see if you don't CLA Queens [ __ ] listen but listen he went back to Cali and he never came back yeah he didn't yeah heong with he made his bones in Cali bro ain't nothing wrong with that he did he made it he was on the west coast allars y like he's on the west coast more than he was in New York Ain nothing wrong with that ain't nothing wrong with that but he did say something about X and X's rhy style and I've told people this a million times x rhy any [ __ ] thing M and it would have sounded dope cuz of his voice it's not a lot of people that can do that yeah yeah X could have did Mary had a little lamb and the chick would have been L he did he did Rudolph had a red he could have did Mar Mary you had a little lamb little lamb and the lamb was F the lamb I love the lamb loved me cuz I'm DMX you a yeah that [ __ ] was Ill the whole dark Community is a part what I tell people all the time you can put DMX on any [ __ ] record any record country music and the [ __ ] would still been H that's a fact it would have been you could put Dolly Parton 9 to5 working 925 what a way to make a living what see that [ __ ] is crazy son XO with everything just saying that XO was everything XO with everything thing and then Swiss told me the [ __ ] didn't want to do party out Swiss told me that wow that [ __ ] hated party up Ruff Riders Anthem was Swiss his first placement he didn't want to do that record and that record is the crazy the illst records ever son sowi second placement is banned from TV we continue banned from TV was it yes yes yes yes and we already heard how you [ __ ] that up cuz he said I didn't [ __ ] it up he said he wanted to make a beat and you didn't let him make a beat cuz that was he gave him a loop that record was what you want me to that's one of the greatest part hear you say that let's take let another drink hold on hold not not even another shot I want another drink it's a [ __ ] record it's not a girl record girls don't love B from look at the DJ you oh yes yeah that [ __ ] Nory said I'm never making a record with you even if your woman [ __ ] the whole crew I was like he's a disrespectful [ __ ] yeah I was thank you but then he still did it nope I never beautiful had a beautiful hole with poy in a sexual like he said I'm going to put puery I like I'm like who is this [ __ ] come on come on had TV out and he had a beautiful home I didn't expect that I expect gambling shootouts in the backround like this this house you need to have shootouts in the background ironically it it's really not SE birthday I promise you got pictures and everything to you remember thisday he was little little and they had it was a cookout [ __ ] smell good I like this is not going how old was Nim at that time exactly it was I think like 10 oh I see you have to remember something nah nah West Orange in West remembering something cuz you're 24 now so this got to be yeah this got to be yeah because it's got to be 8 years old I got the I got the flick I'm tell you why because if nine was 24 my daugh was one and she's 25 so look let me just tell you something [ __ ] here here here here's after this happened cuz lady came to my crib that love this it's like the only one time Chris came I didn't know I was coming to your crib yeah hold on look look so this the only time chis came to my my crib and then Jau was there and he's managing Jau at the time I don't believe he's managing 50 at the time no he wasn't next week he start managing 50 knowing that was the a r yeah yeah he bought his bread just bought his bread wow and then 50 dropped the freestyle he said I know where Nori live you live by Nori crib I said oh [ __ ] moved to Alpine yeah move got the [ __ ] up out of there he got he thought it was me that wait joh moved yeah cuz he was getting that like that JLo money for writing and the writing [ __ ] he did on Mary he made a lot level and then 50 made a freestyle I know where Nori live yo you live by Nori crib how does the manager manage that that's what I want to know Chris managed it just make some noise for [ __ ] Chris l that's wild that's a wild yo hold on these [ __ ] got a ice cream section look
